if you're running miui, try posting in the miui Q/A, you might get more help.
Sounds odd that you would lose recovery like that.
idk..you can try downloading "quickboot" from the market.
it has some extended power menu options, including recovery.
if you lost recovery somehow, odin or heimdall will be your friend.
see my sigs
Its common many have lost the recovery including ME when flashed MIUI, check the OP of the MIUI thread by boost there is how you can get the recovery back.

I'm a noob and I tried to install 3e recovery using the instructions and video supplied in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105413
Everything seemed to work fine until I went into ROM manager and tried to backup current ROM (stock, rooted). I selected backup ROM and now my phone is sitting with the SAMSUNG logo and it hasn't moved from that in almost an hour. I'm not sure what to do to get the phone to boot up normally. I have done a battery pull but that didn't work. When I plug the phone into my computer, XP does recognize that is plugged in because it shows the internal and external sd cards in the My Computer window. I can't open either on by double clicking on the icon for each drive. I'm getting pretty desperate because I can't seem to figure out how to get the phone to boot normally. Any help and/or suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks!!!
Odin flash to stock in dev section
try a hard reset. you shouldnt pull batteries unless it is the last resort, linux needs to unmount the file system.
a hard reset(different from a factory reset) is accomplished by holding the vol up +vol dn + power at the same time untill the phone reboots. if you wait till the samsung screen pops up again and immediately release you may also enter 3e recovery mode.
try to just boot the phone into the ui first. if it is still ok, go into rom manager and "flash cwm recovery" choose captivate or i9000. reboot into 3e recovery(blue text), (select reboot recovery not backup) reinstall packages twice! you should now be at a green text cwm recovery. once you get it setup the backup link in rom manager should work.
if the phone fails to boot up after a hard reset, you can attemp to clear user data in 3e recovery. you can get to 3e with phone off(you may pull battery now if you need to) hold vol up+ vol dn + pwr and hold untill you see the "samsung" screen. then you can clear data/factory reset
if that doesn't help you can still use odin/heimdall to restore the phone with one of the roms that may already have modded 3e recovery and other nice features.
Thanks for all your help! I managed to get it back working using Odin. Now I'm on the Infused ROM and loving life. I'm going to save this post just in case I get into trouble again down the road.

I have had that same boot screen problem too, buy a jig and u can put it into download mode that way then when you use odin3 to restore stock, u can get the stock rom with the recovery in it for u and u just need to download the update.zip on rom manager and then go into recovery and run the update zip twice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
You should get a jig (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...dkw=jig&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313) its a life saver in my opinion. because u can restore ur phone if u ever mess up.
I too am stuck at the Samsung logo. I've used Odin to revert to stock but I think the Stock I reverted to was AT&T rather than Rogers? I can't seem to find the Rogers stock. I've tried to get it into recovery mode, taking out the battery booting with power up and down, releasing power when the Samsung logo came up - no good, the logo stays. I'm at a loss? Any advice? Is the a full raft of pit / pda etc files for Odin that I can make the Rogers Infuse as it was day one?
Thanks for any help
I'm in the same boat... maybe it's because the rogers infuse comes as android 2.3? I hope a solution comes out soon!
Same here, Rogers Infuse. Stuck at Samsung logo. Tried infuse odin recovery, and community. Still no go. I tried flashing all the different stock/unbrick roms but nothing.
However, if I install Infused kernel/recovery, i can access the recovery and do a wipe/lagfix.
I was trying to flash to Infused and when I got to the step where the phone rebooted to CWM recovery it hang on the Samsung logo. After about 3 hours of trying various button resets the phone booted normally (ie not to CWM). They say the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results, well I went back through the same steps to flash to infused and again it froze on the Samsung logo, only I have no idea what I did last time to get it to boot normal, not to CWM. Since it did it before, there must be a combination...anybody know what it might be. I've read and tried everything on the forums. Thought I'd post here prior to using Odin. I am able to get to downloading screen by doing the button/USB cable combo.
I'm headed out of town and won't check this right away, but thanks for any posts with ideas.

Rogers Infuse users need to use the UXKG3 unbrick, not the UCKD5 or E3 unbricks.
The UXKG3 variant tends to fall to the second or third pages of the dev forum since it's far less commonly used.
Holy Crap - im hooped without my phone for work...!

Here is the solution for this issue.
Just flash with this package that will totally reset your Infuse 4G to UCKJ4, do it with linux that worked for me.

The few last posts have mirrors. You are gonna need the odin pack to flash back to stock and then work your way up.
You need to flash ICS before flashing JB.
Infuse 4G wont boot - no root, CWM, Passcode locked
Hi guys
I dont know where to start from. This Infuse 4G was dropped by the owner and we happened to come across it.
Checked the SIM card but that was already deactivated and there were no contacts on it.
Then we wanted to check the phonebook and find someone to contact, but the phone was passcode locked.
Then i went and flashed Odin_Community_Kernel_v8.zip since it was on GB, but it doesnt seem to be booting. I was planning on adb-ing into it when it was in recovery (CWM) so that i could delete the passcode and find a way to get in touch with the owner.
Now am stuck at the Samsung logo...:crying:
Simply put, I can't boot into recovery after installing MIUI 1.9.30.
Three finger method won't work (holding volume keys and power) *no one lecture me how to do this method either, I know the proper method to do this and have done it hundreds of times* Going through the software method through the ROM itself won't work, and neither will reinstalling Clockwork via ROManager. So in other words, I'm stuck and have no idea what to do.
Any ideas?
worked for me

I flashed a zip, and now my phone won't boot! When I press power and volume down, it doesn't boot into recovery either! Like it vibrates twice but then just doesn't boot! Please help!!!!
I was also running cm10 liquidsmooth, and when I try to boot to recovery it just vibrates twice and the screen shows the samsung logo for like teo seconds. Then the screen just goes blank. I seriously need help!
Can you give a little more information, like how you went about the installation, your source for information and if your root worked properly the first time you did it on stock

It's the whole volume rocker (volume up and down) and the power button, to get into the recovery. Release the power button when it vibrates but keep holding the volumes until your in the recovery.
And make sure you do full wipes when switching roms, wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik-cache, and system. Or run Blackhole System Wipe.
When I hold on both volume buttons and press the power button and release it, it just flashes the samsung logo and the screen goes blank.
Basically everything has been working right before, everything was fine. The rom worked perfectly. After I flashed a zip (not a rom, it was just a camera app) I hit reboot in the cwm and then it just wouldn't boot, not into recovery either.
Try holding all of them for a minute or two. Sometimes it takes a bit. From what you have said nothing should have borked your cwm. If all else fails, there's always the option to use Odin to reflash back to stock or reflash cwm.
Stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601
Cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591622
I always hold all three until the samsung logo appears, then I release the power button. When CWM comes up I release the volume buttons.
If you can still boot your ROM you should just use terminal emulator. (Download it from the play store if you don't have it on your rom). *requires root*
Type su
confirm root access.
then type "reboot recovery"
That should do it...
OR...
You could just ODIN CWM back on your phone if something got corrupted...
I used odin and followed the instructions.... but now the phone is stuck in a boot loop.
oh thank goodness, I flashed CWM through odin again and it worked. Thank you all.
So, I got my new OnePlus One today and I tried to get CM12 onto it. I was following the [GUIDE] How to Install CM12 on the OnePlus One- Android Lollipop/5.0 on the OPO forums, and everything went well until I tried to get the TWRP on there. I flashed the recovery and rebooted the phone. I turned it off and then tried to boot it into recovery but it doesn't, it just hangs at the OPO logo until I hard-restart it.
I've tried factory resetting it and doing
fastboot oem unlock
but nothing happened. The factory reset pretty much just reset the phone. I think I might've messed up the kernel. How do I fix it?
EDIT 1: I've tried reflashing twrp recoveries and nothing. When I hold power+volume down, it powers on, shows the one plus logo, then reboots and just goes to the lockscreen.
UPDATE 1: I managed to manually flash all the CM12 files and use lollipop. I haven't tried the recovery yet but I'll keep you guys updated (if any of you even care).
UPDATE 2: Apparently flashing CM12 made the recovery work. Everything works as it should and the OTA to the most recent CM12 worked perfectly.
You're probably doing the button combo wrong. Hold volume down, then hold power (so you're holding them together), when you see the boot logo let go of power but keep holding volume down until you reach recovery.

How did you manually flash CM12? I think I'm having the same trouble you were having. I used the oneplus toolbox from the forum to unlock the bootloader, then flash the TWRP, but no luck in getting into recovery mode. It just boot loops with the oneplus logo until I release the volume down button at which point it then boots to the lock screen.

@Heisenberg I'm also having trouble getting into recovery. I've tried the different button combos (power + vol down; power + vol down and release power) as well as the advance reboot options to get into recovery, but they all fail. I get the 1+ logo and after I let go of the volume down button the screen goes black and boots again to the 1+ screen and then to the lockscreen. It's almost like it doesn't recognize the recovery. I tried putting the stock recovery back on using the image in the OnePlus One toolkit folder, but that one doesn't work either. In addition to unchecking the "CM Recovery Update", are there any other settings that could be causing problems?
For background info, I initially used the toolkit interface to unlock the bootloader and then flash the recovery. The bootloader unlocked with no issue...it wiped my device and I was in sync with the "How to root" video posted by alex.inthi. I got sidetracked after the (seemingly) successful flash of TWRP onto the phone I kept getting booted into the Cyanogen recovery. I realized out that I needed to uncheck the setting to keep it from overwriting TWRP and after that was not able to boot into recovery. After finding your beginners guide (thanks, by the way, very well written) I tried using fastboot from the command line as you show, but still no luck.
Thanks in advance for any help...

Okay, I must have been having a special kind of moment - I've got TWRP 2.8.7.0 running on my handset now. I may have been holding the volume down button too long, or it may be that I was using an older version of TWRP, but I'm going to go with the former. I've also been able to successfully flash and boot into Philz 6.59.2
Having the same problem
I am having the exact same problem and cannot seem to find a solution. Recovery screen just doesn't appear, but goes to lockscreen.
Tried erasing, flashing both twrp, philz etc., but nothing works. The phone doesn't recognize the recovery status. Advanced booting does the same.
Update CM-recovery is checked off, phone is unlocked. I've followed every step of the big guide down to every detail.
Is manually flashing the 12.1 ROM the only way and in that case: is it hard for a relative newcomer?
