[Q] How do you flash a ROM? - Samsung Infuse 4G

How do you flash a ROM after clearing data and such? It got rid of ROM Manager. I already searched around for literally hours... My phone is rooted and has CWM installed.

ROM Manager

Hey I was just browsing the market and decided to invest in Rom manager (used it religiously on my old Droid 1). Lo and behold we don't even have a cwm listed!
What needs to be done to have some of these roms I see on this board listed in that App?
Thanks and sorry for the noob question. (We need a Q and A board.)

You really should've looked a little as it's mentioned a billion times, BUT...
Just install CWM for the Galaxy S i9000, works perfect.

I will be eventually putting mine up there as well. I'm trying to do a complete overhaul for the next version of Refuse.
Yeah after a little newbie hiccups I am rocking a custom rom.

Would it be hard to add infuse to the cwm list in rom manager? So that way only infuse Rome would show up for people?

would have to work with Koush on that one. Don't see why not, we just need to get them separated... (Wouldn't be a bad idea seeing that really noobtastic people may pseudobrick their devices and need us to walk them through Odin restoral....)
I'm always one for lack of headaches. Keeps the real devs from having to field noob questions and pseudo-devs like myself with more free time to try and step up to full dev status....

I asked Koush today if he could add it...but he seemed busy with something. After looking at his twitter, I think he's still working on the Optimus series.

You would want to check all 3 if it is your first flash, that way if something goes wrong you have a backup to restore, and the other two need to check because they are cache for your original rom, not the new one.
It's worth doing the backup of your stock setup.
Wiping the data isn't necessary unless you are a stickler about starting "fresh".
Dalvik cache wipe never hurts.

If you are coming from stock, you need to wipe all. It can cause issues, i have seen it. You get lots of force close, stuff that is removed from stock would still be there, which could also cause problems. Its better to do a full wipe when going from stock to a custom rom, and when switching custom roms.
I think I made a mistake, it reboot into recovery and I guess I was to wipe data and cache then reboot into cyanogen rom, but I did not wipe data and cache, Now it froze on me. What can I do, Did I just brick my phone?

Root Problem. Any Advice? EDIT: posted in wrong thread

Alright my friend gave me his rooted captivate because he thought he bricked it. Turns out it was fine. Used odin one click and its back to stock. The phone is still rooted but now theres nothing in recovery but options to delete user data and cache and to reboot system. I want to flash a different rom but i cant. Do i need to reroot it or is that not even necessary? Not sure for a solution to this problem. I looked at quite a few threads already and they dont really help so im just getting a second opinion for help.
ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS APRECIATED
Edit:sorry posted in wrong thread.

Really, dude, read the stickies/dev section. You need to flash a kernel that has CWM recovery baked in.

rooting 4.0.4 and other questions

Greetings
I'm new to this and I'm trying to root my skyrocket in order to uninstall some apps from my phone like NFS and other at&t apps and I read in order to do that I need to root my phone. I read some tutorials about how to root my phone but they are for version 2.3.6 and I'm running version 4.0.4 . So my question is can I use the same files or is there one for the version I have. And my other question is how I uninstall the apps I don't want after rooting. And I also saw something called super user which u can download after rooting from the market app. Can someone please tell me what is the use for that. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the reply. I went through this sticky before but it did not answer my questions. I'm trying to find out what us the best method to root my galaxy skyrocket for version 4.0.4. Not 2.3.6. Now if that doesn't matter please confirm. Also I didn't see on the link you put where it tells you how to delete the apps after rooting.
Thanks in advance for real help
There really is no best sense it is. Subjective plus rooting for 2.3.6 works the same. As for deleting apps i use titanium backup though u might want to freeze apps instead of deleting them. Just my opinion on that though

So you are saying I can use the same usb software and zip file to root my phone. Just want to make sure that what you meant. I tried to search for root 4.0.4 but didn't find any straight forward toturial.
And thanks for the tip regarding titanium.
If ur using odin yes there are other methods but they should still translate over. My advice before u try it look on youtube for step by step instructions (just search for how to root skyrocket) also use google search there are some nice websites out there for our phone plus google search picks up xda better than there own search does. If you don't want to brick your phone do as much reading and watching how to videos as u can. I read as much as i could for about a week before i rooted but i was also looking at roms

The sticky IS straightforward! All you do is flash cwm in Odin, and then flash the su files in cwm. Titanium backup is used for uninstalling bloat as well as backing up apps+data for when you switch roms. In ics you can freeze apps without root so TiBu (titanium backup) isn't as necessary for uninstalling bloat as it used to. Also, most custom roms are very debloated any way. Upon rooting superuser will automattically be an app on your phone. SuperSu is used to replace it in some roms (some prefer it). Read, Read, oh and btw READ! The sticky was created to prevent meaningless threads such as this. Some take the time, read it and if they actually have real questions then they ask. You are not one of those people.
I wasn't going to answer any of your questions and simply flame you, but I thought I would be nice this time and answer your questions. The long weekend saved you

Status Error 7 Problem

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket for AT&T. I have been rooted for a year now. I have installed a ton of roms over this time period.
However, now, everytime I try to install a ROM I always get the Status 7 Error message.
-I have wiped the phone 3-4 times before attempting to install a rom
-I updated CWM to 6.0.1.3 (latest version)
-I have installed a kernel first before attempting to install a ROM
-I have used a MacBook and a regular PC desktop to download the ROMs
I did everything above to try and see if the different ways work, but nothing did.
Now I can't use my phone since I can't install a ROM. Could someone please help?
Thank you in advance!

Here are my few suggestions:
Might try using odin to go back to stock. The sticky threads around here should be helpful for that.
Have you tried TWRP? Or sk8r's CWM touch? Some people have better luck with one recovery over others.

Why? Its a question, and its not specific to a certain ROM.

All you need to do is mod one file in a ROM zip called the updater script

What do I change in that file?
Also, why did this occur now and not before?
Take out the top couple lines involving the word assert and showing a model number
It happens due to ROM makers putting that in to protect from bricks there is normally a toggle in recoveries to ignore it
Edit: in the time its taken to make all those posts you could have Google searched and had it fixed in about 5 mins

Negative. I did a ton of thread digging, I know I can just revert back to original rom with ODIN, but I'd rather not do it. I am looking for the simplest answer so that I can create a thread about it for people who do not want to search for hours and complete those lucrative tasks.
Also, MOST answers are like yours; they tell people what to do, but if people don't understand the 'lingo', the answer is useless. People need/want specifics, and that is what I am trying to do in the thread I am going to create. People shouldn't have to dig in threads with over 100+ pages.
Thank you for your help though.
Google never xda search dude there is step by steps that would take all of 3 mins to find

[Q] Network Unknown?

I am a regular rom flasher, and I consider myself good with my phone. However, right now I'm stumped. After flashing slim's latest 4.2 rc1 rom in twrp 2.3.3.0, my mobile network is unknown. IMEI is intact, and I've tryed nandroid to no avail. Tried taking out and putting back in my sim, battery pull, wiping everything, fixing permissions, flashing a tw rom, flashing a kernel, flashing modems and rpms, but nothing's changed. Please help!
