[REQ] Best Gaming ROM? DONUT!

ive searched all Donut ROM
and i keep getting mixed answers
i know there isnt any great games but i like some of them
and i also heard that not having the ram hack makes the phone
run smoother because of the available graphics on the phone.
any recommendations?
p.s. only DONUT rom no eclair thanks!

Get the SuperD 1.9.3 w/o the ramhack. 3D games run great on it.

Yes, I also modified the no ram hack of superD_1.9.3, and the 3D games run smoothly, very good!

what do you mean by modified?

Donut roms:
BlueMagic (27,7 fps with neocore benchmark - sound off, 24,3FPS with sound)
SuperCSDI probably about the same (BlueMagic is based on that)
FastTest gaming edition
SuperD without ramhack is slooow in comparison to those.
not shure about wgarner's kernel.
The very best would be vodafone magic 32b... but its cupcake.

It's my own opinion. haven't benchmarked fasttest properly but it felt a bit slower when shooting in armageddon squadron. overall very playable anyway.
Would like to see a benchmark of it. download neocore from the market

would jit compiler make it better?

JIT makes the apps open and operate something like 3x faster (I think) but is still very buggy and can cause some FC errors from what I have read and is far from stable as of yet.
But if your games are still not playing properly on the suggested roms then a possible solution but be prepared for a few hiccups.

Super D 1.9.3 Non Ram Hack Ver. is definitely the one to get if you're into gaming.
Im running it now even though I have no major android games running but notice the emulators (nes,gb,gba) run more smoother and less lag.
Take chances and install that Rom and you will be set.

ill make sure to try it im chckin all of the with the neocore benchmark
edit:so with fasttest no ram hack 2.8 i get a 22.4 on the benchmark
how is that?

but i guess you didn't set cpu speed to the max and operater to performance... Will help a frame or two.

Not true.
If anything, it makes Java parts faster. But 3D-games are mostly C anyway.
Plus JIT uses up more RAM what is desperately needed on our phones...
So no increase here. rather the other way round imho...
/edit: I'd love to have a benchmark table.
please benchmark superD, Cyanogen, SuperCSDI and Fasttest.
Also some older builds maybe....

Setcpu or overclock widget from this board/from market.
I've got 28.3 fps with airplanemode without sound on blue magic.
But i doubt that those are realistic gaming speeds. firstly there is no input. Input needs to be handeled what costs speed. Plus its a heavily optimized demo by qualcomm. I mean come on... they want to prove that their chips are worth buying... no game designer has enough time to get it running as fast as this one minute demo...

I just got 25.3fps with sound on SuperD 1.9.3 + NoRamHack + JIT + 96MB Swap + 528Mhz min/max.
Here's some benchmarks...didnt do Neocore on all of them though, but will from now on(only 1.6 roms).

Psx4droid 50fps on average but cant save causes crash?????

Hi guys im using psx4droid 3.0.7 beta it works fine but if you go to pull up the menu for save or setting etc it crashes
The earlier pre v2 versions work but have crap res and are slow
Do you think there will ever be any fix or has anyone heard or know of a fix?

Try contacting the developer. Or perhaps switching out the bios file with a different one. It IS a beta as you said so don't expect there is a magic fix for it that everyone knows.

[Solved] On ViperSaga Gaming

Have you guys played games that requires mid to high requirements on vipersaga?
I tried playing wild blood from gameloft and amazing spiderman, juggernaut of sovereign.. somehow the game lags and run slow.

Played Spider-Man on viper with no issues but was oc to 1.5

I see, thanks! just have to oc to play it normally. But, will it damage our DS? I mean overclocking to 1.5 permanently? It seems when we oc our device gets hot.

It's all down to the individual chip, some oc happily whilst others don't, I've been quite lucky I started at 1.2 then gradually raised it over a couple of weeks. I'm not so bothered now because I get a new one in a couple of weeks. But I've been quite happy on 1.5 for about two months

Games lags

Hi guys, i want to ask you about tegra 3 performace question. When im playing batman dark knight rises, in fights game is unbelievable laging, somtimes its smooth, or for shadowgun dead zone, when im underfire the game starts laging for a while, but then its smooth again. I watched few videos on youtube aboutt playing those games on nexus 7 (almost same specs as i know, corect me if im wrong) and games was still smoth, no so much lags. Please write me about your experiens, thanks. PS: im on stock jb rom rooted, cwm recovery touch version

My tab is overclocked to 1.5GHz and I have not noticed any lag whatsoever while playing games. I play NFSMW all the time for long periods with no lag.
Have you installed a kernel that will overclock? If not, you may want to do so.

Some games, especially the dark night, are not optimized for tegra 3. Many games will not fully take advantage of all our cores. As the above post stated, over clocking your cpu will help very slighty however the cpu is not the cause of the lag. Over clocking your gpu is what you really want to do for graphics performance. Ive also found that linaro roms have many speed optimizations that greatly improve performance across the board. (my nexus 7 is running full linaro andriod, i use that for gaming) as for shadowgun... Did you buy the tegra optimized version? If you bought the regular version thats why its lagging. I recommend downloading tegrazone from the play store. It showcases ALL tegra optimized games and highlights gaming news/upcoming games. Thats where i get most of my apps.

Thanks for replies, i tried overclocked kernel, but i restore backup because i think the tabet started to be hot and battery drain was bigger, and maybe im paranoid whats do you say? And about games, i readed about bad optimalization, but how is possile on youtube is it on nexus 7 so much smoother? And about shadowgun, i have free multiplayer one, Dead zone. Thanks

When overclocking, you don't need to max out the CPU. I usually keep mine at 1.5 to1.6 ghz and that is plenty. I never turn mine up over 1.6 except to benchmark.

Thats right, but when i did it, games was buggy, for example in nfs most wanted was reflections on cars bad, or dead zone crashes after startup, but gta vice city or batman dark knight rises wwas much smoother... what about you?

Need for speed MW runs perfect on mine as do other games. It may be due to the fact that the GPU is set differently in the ROM/kernel I'm running. I'm running Paranoid Android v2.54 with the modified Unter kernel. If you decide to give it a try, make sure you choose v2.54 and not the the 2.99 beta version. Also, the modified Unter kernel for it is loccated in the 3rd post under EXTRAS. It is a must if you run the ROM. Setting your tab to 1.5 ghz will be sufficient.
The ROM also has many other setting to adjust and tweak to get the most out of your tablet. I usually run mine in phablet mode. It puts the status bar up top and moves the home, back and settings tab to the middle/ bottom of the screen. Like most CM ROMs, it also has performance settings in the settings menu so you can adjust your CPU. It also has zram if you choose to enable it. I could go on and on about all the extra features this ROM has.
The only thing that doesn't work properly is GPS. You can make it work but you must make the changes every time you reboot in order for it to work. Instead of making the changes, I just wirelessly tether to my phones hotspot and set it to work off the mobile signal. It gets a GPS lock in no time.
I suggest reading the thread and giving it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Make sure that you do a factory reset then wipe cache and dalvik before rebooting. This is very important. Just follow the directions Keegan posted and you'll be fine. It really is a nice ROM, especially when you learn to use all of the features. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a personal message. I'll be more than happy to help you out if I can.
Also, I don't remember if you said you are running TWRP or not. If not, I highly recommend installing it. Keegan also recommends using TWRP in his instructions.

Gaming speed + stability

First of all I am no noob but I haven't had this phone long, I know there are different opinions but I want some different views from everyone to help me in my quest for the perfect gaming setup. Opinions on best gaming roms (must have decent gameloft compatibility), recommended tweaks etc please? My current setup is reaper rom OC to 1.5 and mc4 is still kind of laggy

I experienced no lag at all while palying the MC4 on Stock ICS ROM And that too also without OC..
Only Temple Run was bit sluggish on ICS Stock ROM.

Overclocking too high, to the point where data failures start to occur / major heat builds up and causes thermal throttling of the CPU - will cause instabilities, stuttering and lag. I'd guess that you're already at that point.

Not sure about the Frame rate...But the experience was good and I never felt that I should quit. I played almost all the games of Gameloft on my Stock ICS and GB..Was bit annoyed about Temple Run when I updated my phone through RUU..
Give me some time will check on my current Viper ROM and will update you.

OC has only ever improved performance so far for me, got no errors on setcpu stress test

Using reaper with un-touch oc. Seems okay to me, didnt experience any lag. But then again i dont play much of this games.
*didnt know aiming was so simple. Just needed to click the scope and it auto aims :silly:

Update: tried reducing OC a bit and actually did see an improvement, best speed seems to be between 1.2 and 1.3, not 1.5, I fell victim to placebo effect

Have played Nova 3 and 2 on my phone before rooting..
Unfortunately right now I don't have data files for the Nova3 on my SD card . Needs to check on my desktop and laptop once reached home. Right now in office .If I found the backup then will let you know...give me some time.

Fresh installed each time, I have OCD so if it doesn't work it gets deleted it keeps closing at the splash screen after you pick a level
