Virtual machine not recognizing - T-Mobile LG G2x

My mac recognizes my phone but the virtual machine won't when I hold down volume button and remove battery. Ideas?

Sounds like your missing drivers on your vm to me.

So how would I go about fixing this?

Get the lg drivers for the platform you're trying to access it on and install them.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

I figured that that's not the problem as it recognizes the phone when the phone is powered on and connected...Not really sure what to do here.

What exactly are you trying to do?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

You still need to install the LG drivers in your virtual machine setup for it to read the G2x correctly.

I was trying to flash my g2x with clockwork on my mac through Virtual machine. However the virtual machine won't recognize the phone when it's off. The drivers are there for sure though because it recognizes the phone when it's on as a LG-p9999 or whatever it is.

Are you holding both volume buttons? And doing exactly what the tutorial says?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Yes I was. I was reading somewhere that one guy wasn't getting enough power to his phone and I wonder if that's what's happening. My mac has 5 usb ports and maybe Ubuntu isn't set up for that?

[Q] Pulling files off of bricked phone / unbricking maybe

This is a hard question, any help will be appreciated. I have a phone that is pretty much bricked for good, either i will get a replacement phone, get it sent to a special guy to get it fixed (yay!), or just get the skyrocket. What i need, however, is to pull the files off of the phone from the whole sdcard pretty much. I know adb can be used, i just need the commands to do so. Remmember, download mode is really the only mode that it will go into.
Edit: Here is the video of the movie i just posted on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHLUYckTlug (last i checked it is processing, may be bad quality) post ?s here please!
If all you want is the files from the sdcard just take the card out and put it in your computer.

Now I have no experience with this phone at all. But on other phones. If you can get in to download mode you can normally un brick your phone.

i think ur phone is soft bricked since it still turns on and u can get to download mode right?
ive had the exact same problem 2 weeks ago.. actually i couldn't even get to download mode.. but i bought jig from ebay and that fixed it
you should try getting a new usb cable or try different usb ports on your computer
and make sure to get kies for the driver installed on your computer
hope this works!!

I have download mode and everything, but if you want to waste 7 minutes of your life (LOL) i am posting a video now. I will try anything, and it simply just will not connect. I have tried about six different downloads and none work. It says it is already installed, but idk if it really is. It is so confusing. Ive tried all ports, even tried another computer we have on xp, (took thirty minutes to try where as on my laptop 3 another lol). Thanks anyway.

I couldn't watch any more so I don't know if you showed but what does the phone actually show up as in device manager? Have you uninstalled the driver and remove the inf file? Maybe remove the inf's for all the drivers you have installed?
Also have you tried different stuff like rebooting the phone into DL mode while Odin is running and the phone is plugged in. Weird stuff like that may help Odin see it.

This MIGHT work but here's a good idea that you could try... Go to the super thread and go to the completely stock state for rogers users... Do the first step and see if it unbricks a bit, then try doing gtgs ultimate unbrick... I guess last resort?

Ryan,
If you want to use odin, un-install or stop your anti virus program
or boot windows in safemode with networking
then try odin gtg unbrick again.
I had more luck with heimdall. @ 4.00 minute in your vid, you did not show your phone in the video or if it was connected
I don't know if you are putting your phone in DL or not. (phone not pluggged in, off, pull battery; press vol buttons connect usb, battery in)
If you had it in DL mode with the android/triangle shoveling
when you go to heimdall options and list device it should show.
FOR SOME REASON, usb port or cable or wrong mode, your pc is not seeing your phone in DL mode.
If you can put your phone in DL mode, IT IS NOT BRICKED.
with all the drivers etc install and such, the process may have corrupted your Windows ability to see your phone -( if it was in DL mode)

I will try using using another computer altogether. Ive got friends who have a computer they will let me use. If it wont work, then i know there is something on the phone end. Ive tried 3 different cables to no avail. I would do the driver thing but idk how to really do it lol. Having kaspersy block odin may just be the problem thanks for that. Ill investigate when im home.
Make sure you have the correct drivers. To make sure
1: download mode. MAKE SURE YOUR IN DOWNLOAD MODE!!! cant stress this enough.
2: Connect your phone, windows should make a sound.
3. open your start menu and type device manager. It should come up. Select it then scroll down to usb and expand it. Find the samsung one and right click and find thw option that says to update it. In doing so windows will tell you if your drivers are correct.

Hello XDA Family, My Infuse is currently semi bricked; Phone--Triangle--Computer.
I've tried all the methods to boot it into download mode and even tried the usb jig and it's still not booting up.
Any recommendations?
Thank you so much !
That screen you are looking at is still download mode...its like an sos version of download....if the correct drivers are installed on your computer for the infuse then plug your phone in while having odin open, and flash one of the odin back to stock packages....it should still recognize your phone

If it aint working try heimdall. If niether of them recognize it, then give up and send it in for jtag (is money, but im sending mine in because mine will not connect to anything no joke). If nothing works, ask me for their link lol.
Try using different USB ports too.
Thank you all for the love and support ! I've done all the methods mentioned and got nothing so far. What should be my next step?

Seriously? Then jtag i guess... what happened? In my case, jtag is a must.
I was using hemidall to restore my phone and during the process, the usb wire accidentally unplugged...That's gotta be the most interesting way to get bricked..Question is, How to "Jtag" ?
I had this issue. I couldn't get my top of the line Dell PC to recognize the phone on any port at all. So I tried my old Dell laptop... worked first try.
Do you have access to a different computer? If you have a PC search for GTG and fine GTGs ultimate unbrick. Follow the instructions even though your phone doesn't appear to be in download mode.
It worked for me.

[Q] Phone won't connect to PC in download mode

I recently obtained a Charge stuck in download mode, thinking it would be an easy fix... guess not!
The phone seems to be working fine (minus being stuck in download mode) and it should be an easy restore through Odin or the Samsung programming tool, but I can't my computer to recognize the phone. I've tried multiple ports and multiple cables (all of which worked when flashing other Samsungs—Galaxy S phones) and nothing seems to be working. No driver installs on Windows and if I boot into OS X on my Mac, Heimdall doesn't detect a download mode device.
Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong here or could it be the phone itself?
Have you tried installing the windows drivers for the charge from samsungs website
Edit: Attached the windows drivers for the charge as samsung took them down

you can get your phone debricked for 40 bucks, but I am not sure if your phone is even bricked.
Try pulling the battery for a while- make sure all residual power is gone.

check to see if your phone set to 'USB debug mode".
Installed the drivers, which didn't help. The phone is still not being recognized (it doesn't even show up as a USB device).

The phone doesn't boot at all. Any attempts to get it into recovery or to boot normally just make it turn on in download mode again. I haven't been able to try PC based methods as it's still not being recognized.
I actually opened up the phone, grabbed a multimeter, and tested out the USB port. Surprisingly, it seems to be good, so that doesn't seem to be the problem with getting the computer and phone to talk.
Any more ideas?
When you plug it into your computer, go to start (assuming you have Win 7) and type "device manager". Does anything even pop up when you plug it in?

It keeps flashing the 'USB Debugging Connected' than sometimes the pop up comes up on phone to allow 'Charge Mode/Disk Drive' but not always and my computer (Win7) tries to install the driver, it just keeps saying not connected when open HTC Sync and yes have tried all USB ports and uninstalled drivers also under 'Device Manager' there are no exclamation marks anywhere

Well, its hard to go further... Try a different cable and a different PC. If it doesnt work with that either its your phone thats fuked up, if it works its your PC.
When you know which is the culprit we can move forward and try to solve it.
