i used lg esteem root just google it...works fine but im trying to figure out why i cant boot my custom recovery???

I rooted my p990 (running froyo at the time) with superoneclick. did u upgrade to gingerbread?
I have tried many methods to root my devicce but nothing. Please help. Can i change my rom to root? And what is cmw?? Sorry for my questions and my english.
