[Q] 3.12 Firmware (N00B question) - HTC Sensation

This morning i pushed firmware 3.24 on to my Vodafone UK Sensation But even though i checked and the CIDNUM was correct i still got the CID Incorrect Update Fail message and now stuck in infinite bootloop, how do i now push my old firmware (3.12) through fastboot as i have tried but still get the same message no option for installing the new firmware? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Guys!

Did you SuperCID?
If not, you should still be able to do it through Fastboot. (That command isn't locked out)
Then Mike1986's firmwares should flash easily.

its still not letting me do it what would be the best firmware to flash back to? Links would help immensely only intending on rolling back to ARHD 3.6.13 2.3.4

Like SkipJacks said, verify that your CID is correct. Do you have the android sdk installed on your computer? Is so, type at the command line:
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
This will tell you your CID. If it's not all 1s then you didn't write Super CID correctly.
This thread has the guide for getting everything going: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
The reason that you're getting a bootloop is probably because your current ROM isn't supported by the new firmware. So get Super CID, put the new firmware and the new rom on your sd card, flash the firmware, reboot into recovery and flash the new rom, then delete the firmware zip, and you'll be good to go.
To boot directly into recovery and avoid the bootloop that your bootloader is causing, type (I think):
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
If you can tell me what step you're at or where your stuck, I'll help you further. Good luck!

This is what im getting when booting into the bootloader and going into fastboot usb mode to write superCID :/

What happens if you run
Code:
adb devices
at the command line?

when i run adb devices it says nothing but i had to put it into manual fastboot cos i cant get into the rom to reboot it in the first place!

Take a look at this thread. It has instructions for carrier specific firmware updates. Maybe you could flash the firmware that has your cid.
The reason your stuck in an infinite loop is because the PG58IMG.zip from the failed firmware update is still on your card. If you replace it with one from the thread below and reboot maybe you can get the new firmware installed successfully.

the sensation lives! thanks so much dude

Glad to hear it!

Bootloop after new Firmware via Hboot + new ROM

Hello,
i actually tried to install this ROM.
As written there, i should install the new Firmware via Hboot, this worked. Then i installed the ROM via CWM 5.0.2.0. But now i got a bootloop (HTC Logo -> Virtous Logo -> and HTC Logo again -> ...).
I am not able to install any older PG58IMG.zip anymore (Hboot says that this model is not supported).
I tried a backup (made via CWM twenty minutes ago) but this also ends in a bootloop...
And know i dont know what to do anymore
Hope you guys can help me?
Kind regards
Pretty sure i saw this mentioned before and someone said that it's down to not being Super CID.
Are you Super CID, S-Off etc?
I made Super CID, S-OFF etc some time (half a year ago). Is it possible to get "lost" of these things?
I've not known it to happen myself, but i'm sure someone mentioned once that it happened to them.
Put your phone into Bootloader, select Fastboot, connect your phone to your computer so it reads Fastboot USB, load a command prompt and cd to the directory where you have adb etc.
When there, type in,
Fastboot getvar cid
It should read cid - 11111111 anything other than that and you're phones not supercid.
If it doesn't read 11111111 then type
Fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Then check with the other command again to make sure it's wrote properly.
Hmm... I am VERY sure i made Super CID a while ago (i remember because of the many 111's ). But it was not, but now it is.
I installed the ROM and now it works!
Thanks very very much!!
You're welcome!
Hope you enjoy ICS, it's an awesome OS!
I did before, had all the versions posted in the above thread before
I had this exact same problem after trying to instal one of the newer ICS that require the new firmware. I had an earlier version of ICS and you didn't need a firmware to run it so I though I must have done it already.
Tried the Terminal emulator version of super CID and it showed it was still active when I tried to use the wrong sim card ( didn't ask for the unlock code and actually knew it was an ATT sim ). Did the 1111111 trick in ADB and now it will take a PG58IMG and the new ICS rom.
Thanks for the hints.
Same Problem
Hey Guys,
I'm pretty new at flashing ROMs on phones. I've flashed the new ICS firmware and ROM, but I'm stuck on bootloop. Im sure that I have super CID because I performed it right before flashing the firmware.
Any hints and tips on what to do?
can you supercid via terminal emulator?
instead of "getvar" command use "getprop"?

I need TMOUS Firmware please

After attempting to install Revolution HD ROM with ICS on my Sensation 4G I am stuck in boot loop.
I suspect it is because I installed the wrong firmware being a noob.
Does anyone have the stock firmware (not the RUU executable, just the firmware .zip) I could flash to re-install my team win recovery & restore my device back to t-mobile stock everything?
did u flash the latest firmware before flashing ARHD?

What is your CID? The firmware depends on your CID number. If you don't know, go into cmd and type the following. I am assuming you have the SDK configured and installed with the HBOOT drivers. Assuming you are not already in fastboot USB mode. Type the following:
cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
then
adb reboot bootloader
then
adb getvar cid
Then get the latest correct firmware from here. Put the PG58IMG.zip on the root of your SD card. If it doesn't work check that it isn't called PG58IMG.zip.zip. If it succeeds and your phone is still in a bootloop, (it happened to me) flash a new ROM or flash the official RUU and then restart the rooting process.
Thanks if I helped
When you flashed ARHD did you use the 6.5.5 that was released today? and if so, sis you choose the faux kernel? This is a known issue if so, check the ARHD thread or just flash the faux kernel manually from its thread.

I tried all 4 of the firmware packages in the firmware thread & none of them got me out of bootloop. How do I flash the official RUU? Do I just run the RUU.exe then boot to phone to Fastboot mode and connect it via USB to the PC?
Also, to get the CID via cmd prompt do I need to be in fastboot on the phone too?

I found your post & this seems to be the relevant info to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542555
"...You also have to be 100% stock (e.g. NOT rooted). If you are running a custom ROM you HAVE to use the http://www.4shared.com/file/risaQet4...pe_1454012.htm RUU to get back to stock but you HAVE to leave the phone S-OFF. "
I still have the following question:
"How do I flash the official RUU? Do I just run the RUU.exe then boot to phone to Fastboot mode and connect it via USB to the PC?"

Also, it appears my PC is not able to detect the phone when its connected (another issue from me stupidly flashing the wrong firmware?).
Is there a way to flash the stock TMO US Firmware when phone/computer can't connect for adb and fastboot commands?
Will flashing via HBoot (dropping the .zip file in the root folder of the SD card) work?
I get [Error 131] Wrong Customer ID when I try flashing using the RUU.
I know I changed my CID last night to HTC__001 from the default TMOsomething one.
How do I change the CID when the phone isn't recognized by adb & fastboot?
Is there a way to change it over HBoot?
Update (in case any Noob like me ever has this same issue again):
I managed to finally get the PC to "see" the phone by HBOOT installing 4Ext Recovery.
Updated back to stock firmware. Then I fastboot changed the CID back to T-MOB010 and was able to flash (via HBoot) the stock T-Mo firmware 1.50.531.1.
Now I'm back to stock everything.
Lesson: Don't ever flash firmware before verifying it supports your Model & CID!

Bootloop Htc Sensation

Hello, I just tried to install hd android revolution 6.6.4, got my phone rooted s-off and all that. I didnt update firmware first (which I should have)and i kept gettiing a bootloop. So I tried wiping everything and then updating firmware to no avail, said cid failed. Which that is also my fault because I neglected to do cid prior to any on these other things. So now I cannot update firmware, I cannont install any rom and Im stuck in bootloop no matter what i do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are SOFF
so just change the damn cid to supercid
first remove the PG*** file from SDCARD(use a card reader) otherwise you cant get into bootloader properly
i assume you have adb/fastboot setup ...if you dont then follow this guide to set it up
step to supercid
1.keep your phone in fastboot mode and connect it to pc (phone reads fastboot usb)
2.type this command
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (it should be eight ones)
thats all now you are supercid...
now flash the fw again ..you wont get any error and then flash the rom via recovery again
Thanks man, needed it laid out to me like that. I appreciate it, now to install hd rev

[Q] return to stock

Hi all,
I want to return my phone to stock so i am trying to flash the original RUU but this does not work.
Do i have to relock? if so how is that done? through the adb command?
is it possible for to get locked written in bootloader as in some threads it says this can only be set to relocked, is this correct?
You can relock the bootloader using adb !
Boot into fastboot, Open a command window from your adb folder (shift and right click)
Type in: fastboot oem lock
That will relock the bootloader, RUU needs a lock bootloader ! There is no way to get **LOCKED** back !! Only **RELOCKED** But this shouldnt affect your warranty.
You may also need the stock recovery in order for the RUU to work, Sometimes you do sometimes you dont..

I assume i should flash this with fastboot correct? - done
If I wanna return to stock, after locking the bootloader, does it have to be the same version ROM I had initially? Or can I flash any version RUU provided it matches my phone model? Because I don't know what version I had when I bought the phone, I rooted and flashed CM9 straight away.
Hi all, I have some trouble to restore to a stock rom. I have a debranded HOS from Vodafone Spain. I did it helped by the famous Toolkit, so it was with the bootloader unlocked, with a CWM Recovery and then I applied a stock rom by CWM (1.73 about Vodafone to 1.53 but the WWE European one). But I still wasn't happy, can't upload it by OTA and I dislike to do it manually with each new version, plus backups, etc.
Then I changed the CID to HTC Europe (HTC__001); and now the system detects a new version to update it, but when it restart to apply it appears an error during the process, something like "assert failed....... (Status 7)"
I tried also by the RUU, and this way gave me the error 155.
Somebody know if this way is available?. Change the CID and then apply the respective RUU?
Something else... I remember in my old Desire to restore everything, like factory, placing a rom into a "SD" with a especific format (depends of the model), like PG88IMG.zip. Somebody know if is possible for this newer model?
Works perfectly !! thanks for the tuto ! you saved us !

[Q] Verizon M8 Stuck In Fastboot loop

Let me start with this is entirely my fault for not reading directions entirely and understanding what I was playing with.
Now my problem is this: I recently wanted to update to CyanogenMod 12, but needed to update my bootloader to something higher than 1.16. So by following the directions in this post. Now since I have a verizon m8, these firmware updates did not work, so I then proceeded to change both my MID and CID using ADB and Fastboot to those of an AT&T device. When I flashed the RUU-HTC_One_M8_GPE_4.4.4-2.12.1700.1_rooted.zip located on that page, it wiped my current ROM (I planned for this, full backups and everything) but did not install a new one, leaving me stuck.
So the current situation is:
I cannot load recovery.
I am stuck in Fastboot with limited HBOOT options.
My CID is whatever I set it to but my MID is stuck in AT&T.
I have no ROM installed and my attempts to do so have been unsuccessful.
My phone is S-Off and Unlocked
Info:
CID:VZW__001
HBOOT-3.19.0.0000
Radio-1.25.2145000021.06G
OpenDSP-v48.2.2-00564-M8974_F0.1211
OS-4.17.605.5
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Any help would be appreciated, and I promise to read any directions given fully.
You did not need to follow those directions just to flash a new firmware.... There are directions for the Verizon device here in the Verizon thread to flash firmware. You did not need to change your CID or MID...
You DO NOT flash firmware for another carrier. You did not need to because there are threads here in the Verizon forums to do this.
You can try flashing the firmware here in the VERIZON forums using the HBOOT SD card method, but as you changed your CID to an AT&T device, this may not work.

I followed the instructions at this link but was unable to flash successfully due to the system.img being too large. Is there any way to fix this?

I understand you have HTC drivers installed on your desktop, and phone is recognized in Fastboot mode(fastboot getvar all). I see you´re on Verizon 5.01 firmware, too.
Then flash TWRP latest version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717928
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot
Then go to recovery, now you´ll be able to use ADB to revert settings(CID VZW__001-MID 0P6B20000) and flash compatible ROM. Let me know if you need any help further.
