So last night, I was on my phone, running stock rom, not rooted, and I was setting a wallpaper through Zedge and it hung up and GoLauncherEx hung up a couple of times and the message with the Force Close - Wait - Report came up so I hit force close both times, then the phone restarted.
Now the problem is that nothing on the phone seems to be functioning. Can't swipe the unlock screen, power button doesn't bring up the lock screen or get rid of it. I unplug the phone and plug it back in, and it the screen comes on and sits there in it's non responsive state.
I still receive notifications, and everything but can't unlock the phone. I have noticed the phone doesn't hold a charge now, and when it's plugged in gets abnormally hot, but I don't know if that's what's causing these problems.
Any help is appreciated, as I do not want to buy another phone. lol.
I would do a warranty exchange with Motorola
That is very strange, there should be no reason that Zedge or a Wallpaper changing would make that happen...
Anyways, before you decide to try an exchange with Motorola, try flashing the fxz to revert yourself back to complete stock (this wipes ALL of your data!). Tutorial found here.
The only reason I suggested the warranty exchange is because of it getting abnormally hot. He has some weird issues going on that I don't believe the FXZ will fix, but its worth a try.

I hope someone can help me, I have a Sprint Touch Pro2. Last night it randomly started rebooting itsself, i was not loading a new rom, i was not installed any software, i wasn't doing anything other that texting and IMing people. After i removed the SD Card, there were a few times i got it to load to the unlock screen, but once i got passed that it would say "starting device activation..." or something like that. Then i got it loaded but Touch Flo 3D would not automatically start. So i removed the battery and restarted it again and i went to bed and left it charging, and it kept restart itself again, when i woke up it the phone was dead, and will not turn on. The charging light is on but it will not turn on.
This happenned to me, i ended up having to exchange the phone.
have u tried a hard reset. U can do this by holding power button and call and end keys.
Phone must be off and it will completely erase your data
this sounds like what my phone is doing. is there a fix? i think im sol because i didnt buy it though sprint.
Not Hopeless
This happened to my Sprint TP2 I soft and hard-reset it but it still went back to the reboot loop.
I put it in the tri-boot screen and re-reflashed the stock ROM and all was well.
Same here
The same thing is happening for me right now. Soft-resets aren't helping. It's sporadic, however, sometimes saying it successfully activated and needs to reboot (then going into activation right away), sometimes saying it failed, and sometimes not coming up at all (but I'm pretty sure it's running in the background, even if I hit cancel, because the phone is very warm and the battery drains very quickly).
I took it to Sprint and they confirmed it was already activated. They tried manually activating it, succeeded, and it still kept doing it. However, both them and I were able to place a phone call, text, and visit a website... so basically it was working. But, like I said, this constant nagging of activation was running in the background sucking juice and killing performance. Their diagnosis was "it's acting weird". The main home screen clock has also been stuck at 0:00 ever since this started (though the lock screen clock and clocks in the World Clock screen are correct).
They said I could go to their service shop and do a diagnostic and backup/wipe/restore or they'd replace it under warranty if it still didn't work.
I figured I'd just try the hard reset myself tonight. Will post how that goes. I'm not sure what this "tri-boot" screen is, but I'll do some searching and check that out too.
It has started for about 2 weeks now. The phone pops up a message saying for me to save and that if I want to save before I turn off. If I try to turn off the screen, the top button wont react. I have to press twice to get it off, then it comes back on and it gives me the same message. I have to soft reset it to get it working again.
I also did a ROM update and that reset it everything, but then it started doing it again.
It is hardware right?
So this is becoming very annoying this ****e keeps popping up and its draining the ****e of my battery. Anyone has had this problem.
I don't really have a solution for this, but I had the same and also was thinking it's hardware related...
I tried opening up the phone and cleaning it out, first with no noticeable effect (except I broke my speaker wires, be carefull with that if you ever decide to open up your phone), but it seems like something went right, because I only rarely have that problem now ...
One theory I had was that water might have sipped in the button or something, so I'm leaving it out the bathroom when I'm taking showers now.
Anyway, if anyone else has had this problem and did something about it, I'm also very interested to know...
Actually to me, it sounds like some app has gone rogue. Have you installed or modded anything after you flashed the updated ROM? I would suggest if you have anything of importance, that you save/backup that information before performing a hard reset as this will reset everything back to stock for the ROM that you are using. I am using the ROM in my sig/signature and I am not experiencing any of the issues you are describing. It is a custom/cooked ROM so you will need to have HARD-SPL'd your device before you flash. Also, there is a CDMA version on PPCGeeks if you have that type of device.
n-Joie! (Enjoy)
My phone runs perfectly fine until I enable Gps location. Once I enable GPS location, it freezes, then it reboots my phone and it slowly do a system check, then it continuously rebooting the lg logo screen. I tried taking out the battery and put it back in, even took out my battery for a day and it still does the same. I'm not sure if it's the hardware problem, but it's a pretty rare case, since I read most of the threads in forums, people said it can be fix once you pull out the battery, but somehow it's not working for me. Anyone knows the reason why? Btw, my phone is not rooted or used any 3rd party program.
Ah. Posted too soon. There's a master reset that I believe is Power and Volume Up. Try that.
Unfortunately, it's still not working. Is there any other possible way? Or else I have to call in and return it.
Try turning off the phone, then press power + vol down and hold it until you see the word android. This should do the factory reset.

It sounds like the permissions are not correct, or perhaps that your ROM was not flashed correctly. I have seem this problem happen numerous times due to bad firmware flashes or ROM issues. I would just download a new copy of the latest CM 7 ROM or whatever your favorite ROM is and flash it through CWM.
Thanks guys for the help. I found out that you have to hold down first then power button for around 30 second and then the droid animation comes out. I was so close to returning it. Thanks!
So my Nexus S 4g been mighty stable, til this morning. i check my bank account on my phone then all the sudden, the back button starts blinking like crazy, and everything goes back if i open anything, and the vibrate feedback can be felt like rapid fire. So I hold the button so I can actually power off the phone into recovery.
Its still blinking, so I hold it down so it sends only one signal, so i can change my kernel back from Netarchy 1.3.7 to 1.3.6 where it still does it. Repeat to Mathkids. I also wiped the cache partition, and dalvik cache for this one. havent tried stock yet.
Anyone ever have this problem. Its still doing it. Thinking about going to stock and returning phone.
And if I do return it, do I have to unroot, and relock the bootloader?
tried stock kernel, did a few backups, formatted everything agian, turned back to stock and it hasnt stopped.
did notice tho if my hand or thumb got close to the back button, but didnt touch it, it would stop blinking. maybe it needs a heat sensative calibration? it wont stop flickering no matter what
It seems to be related to this issue: www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=49e8ca84071d51a4&hl=en
Im having exactly the same problem, but with the searh button. In the Google thread a Google employee has replied, and according to him they're working on a fix (software related). This was posted a couple of weeks ago, i bet the fix is issued in 2.3.5, set to rls in the upcoming days.
For me the search button flickering seems to be related to how long the screen has been on, i.e. how warm it is. I can use it perfectly for 20-30min, but then its unusable for the next five. I discovered the relationship between screen on time and the flickering like a day ago and it may be incorrect. The Google employee says it is a software issue, but i dont hold my hopes high.
I was having this problem with the search button.
I goofed up something on the phone and ended up reflashing it back to stock like 5-6 times in the course of a night.
Ever since then, I havent had the issue pop up even once.
I also have read that it has to do with the NFC contacts on the battery cover. Someone was able to supposedly fix this by preventing the contacts from touching their corresponding contacts on the phone.
Hopefully someone here will be able to help me out and it won't mean that I have to send my phone back to Sony for repairs.
The last week or so my phone has been constantly freezing and I have to turn the screen off for a bit then I turn it back on and it would work for a bit. I was running the latest stock Sony rom. I decided to reflash the stock Sony rom and start again thinking it would have been something that went wrong there. Unfortunately it didn't help and it is continuing to freeze.
The odd this is that it is not the whole phone that freezes. If I am typing a message and the screen freezes, I can continue typing while the screen is frozen and the message will still send. So it seems the actual phone is not freezing, only the image on the screen is freezing.
Hopefully someone may know why it is doing this and I won't have to send my phone back to sony...thanks in advance.
