What's a kernel and radio and how do I install them?

I'm thinking of installing a new ROM but I also see something about a kernel and a redo I should install. I understand how to install a ROM but I get lost when they talk about kernels and radios. Do I install them before or after I put the ROM on? And is it the same presses as adding a ROM?
1.download and put them on my sd card
2.Reboot into cwm
3.And select them from the sd card

A kernel is the core that provides basic services for the device. It includes all the basic drivers for your ROM like WiFI-Driver, Camera ......

This is the main structure of android
A radio is the firmware for your GSM-Radio.
If you want to flash a different kernel you first install the best fitting rom and then flash the kernel just the way you wrote.
What do you mean with "And is it the same presses as adding a ROM?"

All ROMs include a Kernel, so use that and ONLY change it if you're not happy with the supplied one.
ROMs may have a Radio version dependency, That will be listed in the ROMs OP.

Thanx for the info but i wasn't requesting or asking, i just wanted to know. i've used MIUI_Au and does know the battery and overall performance. What's the extra tweaks u've given to this rom?

Apparently the OP is trying to get this rom ported for use on the TB; I would not be trying to flash it on your phone.

If this is an aosp build it will be a little while longer before it would be functional. The ril is barely working for the current aosp ics rom we have.

[Q] HTC Desire C Wifi 'Error'

Today my friend told me to root my desire C and linked me to r1-golf-superboot and now I did that and everything was fine, now he told me to install something called NameLess which I did and now the wifi wont work and I don't know what to do :S Can someone assist me please?

WTF is wrong with people? You get a nice, shiny, new phone and your friend tells you to root it - so you just go ahead without searching, reading and finding out what you are doing first? What would you do if he told you to drink bleach "coz it's fun".

If you use the nameless rom, you MUST use the nameless kernel for wifi to work. There is a new nameless overclock kernel released today, find link on pg. 14 of nameless desire c thread.

My experience
I downloaded it the day the nameless came out, any Rom will had faults no matter what phone it is stick with your stock Rom I have and I have deleted all the stock software and tweated the CPU and downloaded the CPU render romover and its running as faster than the custom Rom

Yes it works on DS ICE v6.5 without problem!
Just the graphical interface to problem with the icons but nothing nasty!

What is so special about this camera, compared to eg. the one in ICE DS (Sense 3.6 camera) ?
