I have tried them all well not exactly but most the ones people recommend, none the less I had problems with the stock one doing the same thing. Sometimes it would play a song then sometimes it would just be silent, any way I tried the playerpro trial version same as full version just only last 5 days. any way it and dsp pack for it has proved to be the best so far plays anything, and had allot of sound adjustment. No I don't work for them lol just my 2 cents

PowerAmp continues to be my favorite. Though it seems like there's a bug related to scanning each time the app is launched that was causing me some issue. Disabled that option and everythings good.

I use playerpro, like the features, get missing album covers, no issues. The widget is awesome, try it, it is free. The app is well supported.

I have this exact problem. It isn't quite clipping but whenever there is a crescendo it only ramps up partway and then gets mushy as though there is a normalizer running. The consistency with which it does this has me thinking as though each frame in the MP3 is being decoded at a different level!

[Q] Any way to keep screen on while music player is playing?

I didn't notice any settings in my newly purchased Infuse that would allow this so I wanted to check, is there an add-on app or setting I'm missed that will allow the screen to stay on while the music player is playing?
this is an option that i don't believe the default player has. there are several media players in the market that have this option. i use PowerAmp, best player in my opinion
Thanks any thoughts on what is considered the most feature rich player?

people seem to like doubletwist because it integrates with itunes i believe. but as far as features, i believe poweramp is head and shoulders above the rest. it autoplays on headphone insertion/bluetooth connection. it has its own lockscreen controls. it crossfades between songs and kills the silence at the beginning and end of tracks, making for a professional dj sounding club mix. the only shortcoming is, it doesn't directly handle m3u files, but this will be fixed in the next release.
Much appreciated.

Rockbox is the most feature rich, not on the market though. You'll have to hunt for the apk.

You can do this using tasker.
I was browsing apps the other day and saw Tasker... it seemed a bit daunting so I didn't look in to it closer... (as an aside I'm probably going to stay with the default music player as I like its integration and swiping capabilities), but it looks like I can use tasker to replicate a feature I did like from poweramp (launch automatically when headset is plugged in), and the keep backlight on... guess I'll give it a whirl.
Thanks again.
edit: Stumbled through setting up the task I wanted related to the music player this morning.
Worked brilliantly. Thanks!

[Q] Music player album cover glitch, help?

Default music player often displays glitchy, flickering album covers. It looks like it's trying to load them and having difficulty. Anyone else witness this or have a fix? It seems to happen more often than not, and I haven't been able to identify any one particular activity or group of activities that sets it off. See video.
I had the same issue the last time I opened up the music app. IIRC, I reset but forgot about it until I read your post. As of now, it's fine. Not sure what was causing it. Guess I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Clear data in Music settings... Viola!
I have this problem too. Clear data helps but problem always returns.
And its not just the album art, its also playback sequence sometimes.
I couldn't find a copy of 3.0.2 to download, and reinstall, wondering if that would help.

I've got the same issue. I just use poweramp instead, it sounds better anyway. The stock player is a little thin sounding in comparison.
I have album issues with Google Music Beta music only. Not much an issue imo though. Do you look at album art when you listen to music?

Same for me. Flickering album art, and playback will just stop randomly. Amazon mp3 app will also just stop playing once in a while, too. I do not have Google Music Beta; for the Android Music player I am playing from local files. With Amazon mp3 I'm streaming from my cloud drive. Annoying.

I don't really view album art, but when it flickers I can't select an artist/album or even properly scroll. Also, it's just a really basic stability blunder. How hard is it to render some album art? My iPad buddies laugh at the default music player on eee Pad and I sadly have to agree. Almost no customization options either.
Edit: I'll give Winamp a try, and if that doesn't pan out, perhaps cough up the $5 for Poweramp.

Good music player for Galaxy Note

Hi All,
Apologies if I'm reinventing the wheel here, but I'm looking for a good solid music player app for the Note, as the bundled music hub doesn't cut the mustard with me.
Any ideas? What are you guys using?
Thanks in advance.
Neil

Power Amp!! It's amazing how you can hear your old music completely new and improved through your headphones.

Neutron! The GUI is a bit odd but the sound is excellent. Renders the music in 32 bit.

this is the one i have been using for almost 2 years now, its perfect! give it a try...
What about battery usage of the app you post?
The stock music player is very efficient when using FM kernel. While biking for 2 hours and listening a mp3 it loses just 6%.
Is one of those apps have music controls in the pulled down notification menu??
I used to have playerpro but it doesn't have those controls, only stock player has them but then the stock player dosen't have a widget!!
Any ideas would be great

PowerAmp all the way
I use PowerAmp... awesome sound quality!
Have used WinAmp, but sound quality is pretty basic, although it is good otherwise.
PowerAmp doesn't have player controls in the taskbar, but it does have a decent widget. Also, had problems when upgrading to the full version where it corrupted the sd card within Android and had to rebuild it in windows before android would recognise it again. To prevent this found that uninstalling the widget and disabling auto-scan folders before installing the full key helped. No problems since.
Guess the other thing to mention is file transfer. I'm not really fussed on built in file transfer as I just copy and paste my folders to the sd card syncing the phone as an external drive. PowerAmp doesn't have any built in file transfer that I'm aware of, whereas WinAmp has wireless transfer which is supposed to be good.
It's all about music quality for me though and PowerAmp wins by a loong long way in that department.
Happy hunting, hope it helps
Try 3 it has a very cool interface

Ubermusic is quite good I think
Cloudskipper, hands down
Another vote for poweramp. It's not free, but it's far and away the best - in my opinion of course.
Poweramp - i've tried all others, but poweramp is just full of pure awesomeness
Google music player is by far the best player. Stream all your tracks without taking up space on your memorycard

Simple,
Powerapp all the way.
I use my phone alot for music(Who doesn't) and have gone through nearly every music player trying to find the best one.
Tried all the free, Then tried all the paid for ones, The best by far is poweramp, Simply because it handles the music so perfectly and the sound quality is superb.
Trust me when i say, You won't regret buying it, Plus you can try out the free version before hand.
Agree with the PowerAmp people. It's just the best!

Player Pro is the best.
I use PowerAmp on the Note and MediaMonkey on the PC to convert my CDs to FLAC, which PowerAmp can read. So I get lossless CD quality on it.

Sound lag

So I'm running dirty unicorns with the bub a kernel, and I have experienced this on other cm10.1 ROMs, I'm just wondering if anyone else notices this, but when im playing music and tap on apps or the app launcher my music stops for a quick second and returns. Very annoying for those who listen to music while doing other stuff

Yeah, CyanogenMod 10.1 is buggy as hell, but 10 was much much worse for heavy music listeners. It started playing itself, repeating songs when you skip a track, and often refused to play songs. So don't go backwards, you'll be far worse off.

Use a player like PlayerPro + DSP Pack or Poweramp. They have their own audio decoding libraries, so they don't use the inbuilt Android audio decoder. As a result you experience no issues when playing music. I use PlayerPro & DSP Pack which also seems to use less battery than the inbuilt decoder even with LPA mode.
I always used Google Play Music when I had cyanogenmod. Apollo is a pile of ****e. Google Play Music made it slightly betterm but neither of them have anything on HTC's music player, that is the best by far.

Yeah f**k Apollo, check out PlayerPro, there's a 14 day trial. Make sure you get the DSP Pack also. Functionality wise I think it blows every other player away, and you could probably skin it to look like the Sense player too. But with 100x more features.

[Q] music player and sound quality on a stock JB

Brothers! Hola!
Right now im using stock ROM. And have a terrible sound, a lot of bass, sometimes laggs and "scratches" during listening music, phone become unresponsive for a moment.
I've changed Google Play Music app to Apollo CM player. Now it's ok in case of stability. But settings of the played music (Equalizer) makes me cry and my ears bleeding.
What you can recommend, maybe another player app?
Thanks for your attention

Just browse. Upon purchasing my phone, I immediately rooted and the such and downloaded a third-party equalizer. I uninstalled the stock one and replaced it with the equalizer of my choosing.
The new Play Music app is kinda unstable, but I use it all the same. I suggest keeping Apollo and trying out a couple of equalizers.
Love Apollo. Great app. Themable too

I love PowerAmp (built in EQ) but since I signed up for the Play Music subscription, I've been relegated to the Play Music app. I'm on CM 10.1 now and it's nice to have system wide DSP.
