[Q] Editing list of apps that get cached - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I've downloaded apps to replace the default ones (i.e. Opera Mobile instead of the android browser) but the default apps i don't use still get cached and take up RAM. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop those from being cached?
Sorry if this is a duplicate post, i couldn't find one about my issue on here.

[Q] Looking for stock Camera and Clock apps for SGS2 (GT-I9100M)

Hi, I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 using the Kernel on this forum
which was I9100-XXKG2 Lulz's.
After 10 mins of explorering system folder using root explorer, I realized I have deleted something that I shouldn't have
Basically I replaced Camera.apk file with the apk file from other ROM I guess, and it's no longer functionable
and I deleted ClockPackage file because I thought it was one of those clock widgets.
My baseband is I9100MUGKG2
My Kernel is 2.6.35.7-Lulz-Kernel-Build-11-for-I9100-XXKG2
My Build number is GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
It's from Bell Canada by the way.
Please help a poor newbie android user.. QQ

[Q] Onkyo Remote APK

Does anyone have APKs for this application? Version 1.63 is horrible. It crashes after opening on a Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 10.1, and a new stock Galaxy Note 4. I cannot find my Titanium Backups for this app newer than version 1.50.
I cannot find any version history on the web for this application. One of the recent versions was stable. I can't recall which version but it had to be 1.60, 1.61, or 1.62. If anyone has APKs for these versions that they would share, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

[Completed] [Q] How to flash TY_Q8H generic chinese tablet

Hello,
To start with, I'm new to Android. I work in IT and have always been a windows/linux desktop user with combination of Windows phone/maemo/IoS for mobiles.
Basically my Nannu has handed me a tablet he picked up cheap and wants me to set it up. All seems to be running ok, set up a gmail account, checked wifi/camera etc are working. Then noticed that when launching the browser it defaults to google.com.hk. If I change the homepage in the browsers settings it reverts everytime I exit the app and relaunch.
Also little problems such as signing into skype fails, despite correct credentials and if i select the "trouble signing in" option I'm taking to a chinese version of skype website.
I've reset to factory defaults but this doesn't make a difference.
So I'm looking to flash the device with a ROM as suspect one currently loaded is custom Chinese ROM.
I've rooted the device and was looking at Shuame to flash it but unfortunately my Chinese is a little rusty/non-existent.
I thought maybe I could remove the default browser using Kinguser but it won't allow me to remove as its a system component.
There is no model info on the exterior of the tablet. Here is from the "about tablet" section in settings:
Processor: DualCore -A23
Model Number: TY_Q8H
Android Version: 4.2.2
Firmware Version: v2.0.8
Kernel Version: 3.4.9 [email protected] #365
Build Number: TY_POLARIS_ENG 4.2.2 JDQ39 20140528 test-keys
If anyone can advise or point me in the right direction for where I can find a ROM and a good tool to use to apply this I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I couldn't find anything relevant on your device on XDA. You can ask here for help and perhaps someone knows of something.

[Completed] Adding additional system language to Samssung Galaxy 5 with the official ATT ROM

Hi
My mom has a new Samsung Galaxy S5 phone bought from Amazon. It came unlocked with the ATT ROM.
The problem is that it comes with a handful of languages none of which is Russian which is what she needs.
So now i am trying to add Russian as an additional system language.
There are a number of apps that claim to do that - MoreLocale2, MoreLangs and Locale & Language to name a few.
For non-rooted phones all require to grant them CHANGE_CONFIGURATION permission through adb.
All also work in the same partial way - some of the menus change to Russian but most don't.
At this point i started considering installing another stock ROM that natively supports more languages but since i never did it, i'm afraid to try that without being sure how to find the correct ROM and that this is indeed the correct step. Needless to say, my mother will not do anything to update the OS so i want something that supports automatic updates.
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible to add another system language in the existing ROM? so it will truly replace everything. If so - what is it?
2. If not - what (extremely preferable stock) ROM should I install?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Phone details:
Device model: SAMSUNG-SM-900A
Android: 5.0
Baseband: G900AUCU4BOF3
Kernel: 3.4.0-4432708
Build Number: LRX21T.G900AUCU4BOF3
There are also more details re "SE for Android", MDF and KNOX versions
I can post them if they are needed
