Wifi only works once per boot - HTC Sensation

This is weird. On both CM7's (Selfkang and hyper) my wifi only works once per boot. Works great that once, but if i turn it off it wont come back on.
Happens on bricked and faux kernels.
Gps apps recognize that gps is powered on because they dont say things like "gps off". But they dont get sat data and the gps icon doesnt go on in the status bar.
Is this a known bug with cm7 builds or is something just goofy?
Im on 3.12 firmware

[Q] WIFI and data issue

I've been looking in different forums and can't find an issue to this problem. I did find one thread that had a similar problem, but I didn't see a solution.
My problem is that sometimes when I turn my wifi on, the status bar will do the usual and show wifi and disconnect data. After a few seconds, the data icon will show back up and the status bar will show both wifi and data. However, I'm not able to connect to any webpage.
This problem just recently started happening, so it's not my router. I'm also running the latest RCMix ROM with Leedroid's latest kernel.
Thanks for any help.
Try using a different ROM, it might be the way your apn settings are set...

I also have this occasionally using the stock rom...but it lasts for only a couple minutes. I believe it is happening when the phone thinks it has lost WiFi or has barely a signal from the router...

CM7 Issues

Hi I'm running CM7 w/ dream kernel and my GPS isn't locking on at all. Also, my wifi keeps displaying "disabled" and refuses to connect. Does anyone who has had similar problems know any fixes?
For GPS, backup up your CM7 then load any sense based ROM. Get a very solid GPS lock (Use GPS status from the market so you can be sure) then restore your CM7 build. Thats the only way I got my GPS to work.

I was having a similar problem before I went back to Das BAMF 1.7.
There are threads about AOSP kernels that have Wifi issues which required a code fix. I suggest flashing a different kernel which has a Wifi fix in the changelog.
(Un)Fortunately GPS problems are not unique to the Thunderbolt. I had similar issues on my Motorola Droid with the AGPS data. Whenever I have GPS problems on any ROM, I run the application "GPS Status & Toolbox" by "EclipSim". It is capable of forcing an AGPS update. After getting the updated data Force Stop and restart the application having a GPS synchronization problem. If AGPS data was the issue then the application should sync quickly.
I tried both of those but they didnt work. The thing is wifi worked fine for about 3 days and started malfunctioning this morning. GPS didn't work from the start.
GPS won't lock on on my backup either

Go to your sense based rom. Download gps status from the market. Open gps status, hit menu then go to toolbox. Clear gps data and then redownload agps data. Get gps lock. Go back to CM7.

Did you install the kernel with ROM Manager or Kernel Manager? If you did, your wifi module is probably hosed. Install through CWR. Use the Sense/CM7 rom changing trick to get GPS lock.
Dreamkernel has the Wifi/MMS/Settings fix.
Fixed everything! Thanks guys. This is an amazing community.

[Q] Keep needing to reset Weapon G2x WiFi

I flashed Weapon v3.0 a few weeks ago (and wiped everything in CWM) and regardless of the WiFi sleep policy, I constantly need to disable and re-enable WiFi to get it to work after my phone's been inactive for a while. If I don't anything using the internet just times out. I came from xboarder's rooted GB OTA and didn't have this problem, and I didn't have this problem with CM7 either. Any help?
Use cm7 then its way better

I liked CM7, but I had that stupid APN issue so data wouldn't work, both on the RC and 7.1.0.1 stable. The APNs Backup/Restore app works temporarily, but I don't want to reboot my phone every time I do that. I'm probably going to try nightly 201 next, but I still would like to know why Weapon has this WiFi problem while I don't see anyone else having it.
Happens to me on cm7 regardless of sleep policy.
Didn't experience that problem, maybe try flashing an older weapon over it (2.8 or 2.7) and see if that works. I had 2.8 but was having a bluetooth problem and 2.7 is working fine for me.

I had this from a battery management app. Uninstall any you have and reset any other wifi related timed management to not managing wifi. See if that helps. If it does, reinstall the battery management app and don't set it to manage wifi. If that doesn' t work, reflash the kernel and rom

Wifi tether driver issues

Does anyone else have issues using the android wifi tether app? It works the first time after I reboot, but then when I turn it off and turn it back on, it gives me a driver error and will not load properly. I have tried the latest version along with 3.0 R12, but it give me wifi driver errors on load until I reboot the system. Any thoughts on this?
I'm pretty sure people are going to need more information.. you know like are you running a custom rom.. what kernel... excetera excetera... more information the better

That's usually what happens with me. Works the first time and stops until I reboot. It's just simmering that you have to deal with-I'm not going to complain about issues of free tethering.

One thing you can try doing is toggling wi-fi on and off between tethering sessions, I think something like that helped prevent driver errors for some versions.
Another thing you can try is only turning wi-fi tether on with wi-fi on. That worked for some versions as well.

Gps stipped wirking

Hi guys,
I'm using latest Primo-s rom for aproximately 3 weeks. Some days ago installed IGO navigation and used for one short trip. Later that day I tried to use navigation, but phone did not saw any gps satelites. Even in status bar there is no gps icon, when I turn on gps. I tried several reboots but it did not worked.
Any ideas how to fix it?
on gps test app it shows that gps is on but it see no satelites. Tried agps data refresh, but id not worked

Stupid question, but have you actually rebooted your phone into recovery and tried clearing the cache?

rebooted into recovery, wiped cache partition and dalvik cache. Not helped.
But I found very strange thing - when I go to task manager and kill process /system/bin/surfaceflinger - phone goes to start screen for several seconds, then goes to normal operation. Atfer that - gps works for one session with several applications. When I turn gps off, and then turn on for a second time - it does not work - no gps symbol in status bar, applications do not find any satelite.
Maybe the problem is caused by you turning GPS off when you don't use it? I never disable GPS as it uses very little battery turned on until you run an app that actually uses the GPS system.
What happens if you just leave GPS enabled all the time?

I always keep gps turned off to save a battery. I don`t see reason to keep it always ON, because I need it only once a week. Earlier, before I rooted phone and started to play with different ROMs, GPS worked perfect.

You are currently using a ROM based on a different device and using a leaked, unofficial kernel. That often means that various problems can occur - and they don't always affect everybody. I am just trying to suggest a workaround that might help you out and is worth testing, otherwise try a different ROM to see if you suffer the same problem.
ok, thanks
I found this thread about agps patch:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21325390
I`ll try this later, maybe this will fix my problem
AGPS patch has nothing to do with your issue. It helps faster locking - and also not always, only in specific cases when default aGPS settings give poor results. Your problem is that the GPS doesn't even turn on.
Also, since we're at it, there's absolutely no reason to turn off GPS switch. GPS doesn't use battery AT ALL until one of the apps actually requests it to function and give position.
