ICS Keyboard - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I decided to flash back to the stock ROM - but while I was on the ICS ROM I started to really like the keyboard.
Does anyone have an .apk file for the keyboard itself? Am I even able to install it standalone?

Nevermind - it was in my Titanium Backup

Is it the same one you can download from the market? I use the market one on my stock ROM.

Ahhh I use the other one from VLLWP. Not sure of all the differences but I got used to this one on my Captivate using the Fasty ROMS.
I727 Skyrocket using XDA app

The one from johntanmi gives me huge errors.
If I try to use caps lock (double tap on shift) it freezes and I have to force close. Also, responding to texts on the lockscreen using Chomp, the keyboard stays on screen unlike the other keyboards.
I've tested other ROMs and keyboards, and this one is just super buggy.

try the swiftkey keyboard. i just switched from a captivate that was running ICS and was in love with the ICS keyboard and was trying to find a good alternative when i got my skyrocket. swiftkey really met my expectations on a great keyboard

Droid Multi Touch kb doesn't work with FroYo?

Is it just my phone, or does anyone else have the problem where using the droid x multi touch keyboard fc's with the FroYo update?
EDIT...running deodexed froyo with netarchy kernel and riptide theme.
I just installed it and yeah it is force closing on me too.
Have you played around with swype yet?...it is really bad ass.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
If you haven't seen yet, the htc froyo keyboard now supports multi-touch, just throwing that out there.
I'm still using swype too btw, but the stock option is really quite nice.
Very true about the multi touch on the stock group sense keyboard. I like it. I however dislike the sound of the space and the enter. If anyone could verify the change it would be great.

NO it does not work. It will not work until Froyo comes out on the DroidX and someone ports over the new version.
Look at this thread, someone has a Droidx running 2.2
I still use swype (quite frequently). However, I still prefer pecking for really long posts for whatever reason.
And yeah...I did realize that the new HTC keyboard does have multitouch and a better word correction system...so I guess this keyboard is obsolete now

Alternative Froyo Keyboard?

Hi. I switched to the Froyo unofficial release about two weeks ago. One thing that i've noticed is that the keyboard for 2.2 blows. Is there anyway to get the 2.1 keyboard back? Or does anyone know of a better alternative one (preferably free)?

This. The HTC one is the best. I love how you can adjust the delay for the popups...makes typing numbers super fast with a 100ms delay.

HTC keyboard for Cymod7?

I like the Cymod7 ROM so far. But, I don't like this keyboard. Anyone know where to find the one that all Android Revolution and the HTC stock ROM offer?
I'd appreciate getting my hands on that.
this is the best keyboard by far i have found....huge amount of customization and the ability to back/restore the settings and dictionary is amazing. Use v27, high res, froyo version.

Here you go
I've used this on CM7 and I'm currently using it with MIUI. Just make sure you install clicker_hi.apk first.

This is the exact keyboard I've been using on cyan 7. It's the stock HTC keyboard but doesn't have the arrows I don't think.
Thanks. I'll give it a whirl. I'm trying to get the best ROM option figured out for my Inspire 4G.

Thanks a lot. This is perfect except for the lack of arrow keys. If we could get a version that has the arrow keys on CM7, I would be completely satisfied.
Download SwiftKey X beta. It's available in the market and is my favorite since switching to CM7. I also missed the stock HTC keyboard and this is the closest one to it since it has the arrows available.

HTC Sense keyboard

I'm not one for stock keyboards, but this thing is amazing so far.
Before I load a custom ROM, anyone know where I can get a zip of this so I can reinstall it later on?
you will still have Sense keyboard if you flash a custom ROM, Except from AOSP ROMs. But the keyboard isnt compatible with them anyway

Awh.
I planned on flashing to CM9 once it became more stable, and I believe that is an AOSP rom.

I had to use an iPhone keyboard for about 2 months after my mytouch4G broke, so maybe it's easily impressed coming from the iPhone keyboard
this is the worst keyboard ever.
ICS STOCK or swiftkey is the only way
yeah, just get the latest SwiftKey beta (it's free):
http://vip.swiftkey.net/index.php?/topic/4281-30th-may-update-to-swiftkey-3-beta/
and forget you ever used Sense one.

Not a fan of Swiftkey honestly.
I really do like the Sense keyboard. Leaps and bounds better than the stock ICS keyboard or any of the other flavors. Just my opinion though
I like the sense kb...better at typing than swype but you can still swype words when you want.

Is swiftkey the same as Swype? I love the Swype keyboard. Way better than sense keyboard.

the sense keyboard would be great if i could get rid of those annoying arrows. they take up to much room on the screen.

Agreed. It's funny, I like the arrows on other keyboards, but the magnifying glass selection popup window is awesome and kinda negates the need for it.

I actually don't like it at all, I always hit the period instead of the spacebar, is there a way to get the stock ICS keyboard working?

Im a big fan of AI keyboard.. has pretty nifty features. (Paid app is worth it imo)
But has a free version too.

I actually like the sense keyboard, but the voice button bugs the crap out of me. I hit it constantly.
I personally really like the Sense Keyboard.
Dont know if all ICS-Keyboards have Swype, but thats the best thing about it.
Normally when writing I switch to Landscape, but I always touch the "Back" or "Home" Buttons ...
I guess no alternate Keyboard can fix that ^^
Like I said, I like the Keyboard and I will stay with a ROM which atleast got that Keyboard somehow implemented ... or atleast Swype ^^
I love the HTC keyboard. I have swipe and swiftkey installed and have only used them once. HTC did a great job on it in my opinion.
Yea the keyboard is nice and better than swype in my opinion hell it even recognizes slang and curse words

Calibrating the keyboard improved my accuracy:
Settings -> Language&keyboard -> HTC Sense Input -> Advanced Settings -> Calibration Tool

Best, most responsive keyboard

Right now I'm using CleanROM. The keyboard it includes is pretty awful. I've replaced it with Kii, but - and I'm not sure if this is the keyboard or the ROM - the keyboard simply fails to show up on the screen for random 5-15 second intervals.
I'd like to replace the keyboard with something else. I really like the stock Android Jellybean and ICS keyboards.
Is there a way to get rid of the built-in keyboard entirely and replace it with the stock one?
i will never use any other keyboard besides swiftkey flow.
if you use your phone in landscape often, keymonk is interesting also.
Tried and didn't like the whole word prediction thing. Or swipe thing for that matter. I want something simple and barebones and fast/responsive as possible.
were the opposite lol. i only use swipe style keyboards.
hopefully someone else can give you a better recommendation.
before i switched to flow, i used the stock keyboard.
Download a jellybean keyboard from the Play Store

I didn't like Swype keyboards for the longest time. I told myself I would use one for a few days a really give it a chance. Been using Swype beta for months and love it. Blows away all other keyboards in my opinion.

I've always used perfect keyboard pro. Always has been super responsive and smooth for me. Tons of customization too. Up until this week when I tried it on Carbon 4.2. For some reason it doesn't play well on it

4.2 aosp or Swift key all the way.
Though I have to say that when I was on CleanRom I never had that much keyboard lag. Your installation may have issues especially if you restored apps using titanium.

4.2 AOSP keyboard for sure. A couple system apps + libs and you're set. You can even get one on the play store if you're super lazy.

I did not like swiping in the beginning much. Now, it is a must to have swiping capability. I found Swype beta to be the "best" right now, imo, just wish they have more themes to pick from. Or try Swiftkey.
I pretty much exclusively use a real virtual keyboard. Tops out between 65 and 70 words per minute. I just couldn't get down with the fake stuff.
The Gnote2 keyboard is pretty good.

There is a link in the theme forum to download. Just be sure to download the language before you try to open the keyboard, and don't install it with the ROM or you will be screwed upon activation. But once it's up, it's sweet.

+1 for SwiftKey. Best word prediction and no keyboard lag at all. I bought it almost a year ago and have been using it for awhile now. Best hands down.
