Looks to be at&t's way to compete with the sensation and evo 3d, and they are winning with a 4.5(yes, 4.5)inch QHD screen, android 2.3.4, and sense 3.0.
Hopefully a Devv(*cough Virus *cough) can port it as that would get use sense 3.0 and 2.3.4 android.

It has the same specs on an ---hole company and is .2 bigger and 3d is not a bad option

hopefully we dont overload Virus with loads of roms to tweak bc we know he has a life beyond the android world . never the less, I haven't seen a complaint come out from him. devs are the best!

This is very port-able but I'm afraid we will have just as many egl issues as we do with the Kingdom port. I for one won't even run the Kingdom port because of the lockscreen/Rosie loading issues, which will be just as bad with this port.

I agree. I've lost interest in Sense 3.0 ports, they just aren't meant for our phones.
Not at all a dis-credit to anyone who has worked on them, you guys do excellent work. It just isn't meant to be.

I would think our best hope EGL wise is to see what HTC does with 2.3 on the Evo. I'm not too fond of that leak at all for the GingerEvo, mostly because it's Sense 1.0.
But if they drop Sense 2.1 on that bad boy, then we will have something of interest.

If we get another leak for the Evo with either more 2.1 elements or a full Sense 2.1 build then Sense 3.0 will fully work on our device. The reason phones like the Desire HD, Desire Z & Desire are getting have better success is they have full Sense 2.1 builds with more library files (including egl library files) that are compatible with Sense 3.0 functions.

The other piece of this is that 4G is much easier to get working from a Sprint leaked ROM (Evo3d or Kingdom) than a GSM ROM. The pieces in the framework are there to support 4g WiMax.

Yea I kinda figured. It's sad that we likely aren't getting an official Sense upgrade... but I guess we can still hope something happens.

Well, the hardware will certainly run Android 4.0 (I presume that's what you mean by both "ics" and "cm9"?), and now that the kernel source is available, its just a matter of waiting for google to drop the code on their git.

Therefore, my post is just an educational post to those of us in the MT4GS community as we are here to discuss tips, tricks, troubleshoot and just answer questions one might have. My post is not off topic as I am helping answer a question the OP has. Information I have presented here is knowledge that can be had from searching via Google or any other search. We are all well aware Undeadk9 was banned here for whatever reasons the powers that be felt it necessary. I respect that but given the circumstances of phones such as the Sensation and Amaze keeping the MT4GS in it's shadows I think it would only be beneficial to the MT4GS community here on XDA to know there ARE options before writing the phone off as a dud and moving onto something else. Initial impressions of a proud new owner of a MT4GS that comes to XDA for help will instantly have their smile turned upside down at the lack of development here when compared to other similar handset models...particularly the Sensation and Amaze..... With all this said I present another reason why Undeadk9 was an asset to the MT4GS community.....PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME WHERE TO OBTAIN THIS ROM AS IT WOULD BE A VIOLATION OF THE FORUM RULES
And now what a lot of you have been waiting for..sort of.....
And yes, this is a screenshot I took of my phone running as close to an official ICS rom anyone will be able to find for this device right now since his is the only one Has been running on my phone since 9:45 last night and have played with it literally nonstop without issue.
I'm more than satisfied with it right now as it even includes romanbb's Tweaks which allows us to change status bar font colors/customize as you can see from my clock and battery....
Although it's only a test rom the following goodies still make it enjoyable

If htc's sense 4.0 is anything like the way the Flyer's HC is I will be happy. Sense widgets with stock launcher...or so it looks like.
I for one like the dock in mySense but hate the dock in normal sense.

it is posted on the cyanogenmod website that we will be getting an official release/support for cm9. it is only a matter of time...
kornyone, who is a part of the cyanogenmod team did the unofficial port of cm7 for us. maybe he'll beat 'em to the punch.

It's as close to ICS as we're going to get without either an OTA from T-Mobile or CM9.

Unfortunately, that is correct. It is a themed version of gingerbread with parts of the GUI ONLY that looks like some ics and some honeycomb. Have faith... CM9 will be here before we know it. We have a few great devs that may even beat cyanogenmod to it.

EDIT - It's still in testing I think, Grillrd is just overly ambitious with massive amounts of free time on his hands.

The Rom can be found in the #charge irc channel. Why would i put something out that only i had? If you aren't frequenting the IRC channel than you are definitely missing out...a lot goes on there lol

Lol, it's a ROM, one of the few that will be available for our handset in the future. Not sure what your problem is with someone taking the time to develop and release content for our phone with support as limited as it is...

Nothing ruffled man, it's all good. I just think anything that is open-source is pretty much continually a work in progress unless it's no longer supported. Publically available releases on IRC, Twitter, etc are all as "official" as it gets as far as I'm concerned. Forums are just one more place to post links to those files. It's not like there will ever be a SKU or warranty with these things.
Not sure if Liberty will ever arrive, Imoseyon is losing/has lost his Charge so may not be able to develop much longer, Imnuts is getting the Nexus, so we're quickly running out of devs for this device. Until there is a new batch of developers, this may be one of the last ROMs developed for the Charge for a while. If Imnuts can get TSM fully implemented and stable, at least we'll have a solid ROM to build themes off of for a bit.

Now you have it. Anyone can get it. Don't mean to be a **** or anything, but as other have said, it's on Twitter. It's not a secret release or anything. It isn't IRC only like some of his previous test releases are.
FWIW, it runs great and looks fantastic all on it's own. I'm not a fan of overly flashy and shiny themes, but this theme is a little too minimal for my tastes.

im fairly certain im going to pick up a charge as it gets cheaper and cheaper on ebay...if imnuts keeps his as a backup for awhile, im sure that we can work on some stuff

I've been running Infinity since last night (and MinimalInfinity) and both are awesome. Smoother and faster than stock EP4D.
Is there a downside? Infinity uses stock EP4D as its base but uses the hacked EP4P kernel. imnuts does this so that he can use EXT4 instead of RFS, making the ROM faster. Since we don't have a working kernel built from EP4D source (yet!), it's impossible to use an EP4D kernel for EXT4 support, Voodoo, or OC/UV.
Why isn't this ROM posted all over XDA and RootzWiki? From hanging out on AndIRC #charge last night, it seems like two things are going on... 1) imnuts and his team are working hard to get TSM Parts working on Infinity without hot boots, etc. 2) imnuts is working to build a working EP4D kernel from source (and I'm sure he'll want it to have EXT4 support at the very minimum).
So, is Infinity a final product? No. Are Gummy GBE or Humble final products either? No.
So, is Infinity better than running stock EP4D right now? Yes.
What's my opinion? As of right now, I think Infinity is the best GB ROM for the Charge. Additionally, I was using DroidBlaze's MinimalGummy on Gummy FE before the OTA hit, so this is an absolute winner for me. Hit up imnuts' Twitter and check it out. If you're rooted, you owe it to yourself.

That'd be awesome. I might start checking ebay out too, I've never gotten up the courage to do anything beyond basic theming because of the potential downtime (or bricking) with my only phone. Definitely would be easier to play when you've got a toy to work on, and it'd be nice to actually contribute some.

From hanging out on AndIRC #charge last night, it seems like two things are going on... 1) imnuts and his team are working hard to get TSM Parts working on Infinity without hot boots, etc. 2) imnuts is working to build a working EP4D kernel from source (and I'm sure he'll want it to have EXT4 support at the very minimum).
So, is Infinity a final product? No. Are Gummy GBE or Humble final products either? No.
So, is Infinity better than running stock EP4D right now? Yes.
What's my opinion? As of right now, I think Infinity is the best GB ROM for the Charge. Additionally, I was using DroidBlaze's MinimalGummy on Gummy FE before the OTA hit, so this is an absolute winner for me. Hit up imnuts' Twitter and check it out. If you're rooted, you owe it to yourself.

I could make the EP4D kernel ext4 as the support is there, but why repack it when it's going to be almost the same as EP4P?
Also, I just didn't have time to go around and update/create posts everywhere last night, but I got a chance to do that today. If it hits Twitter to download, it'll show up elsewhere soon after (or should)

I'm not familiar with development or kernels, so I'll trust your best judgement. I have always heard though that things work best when you're running the build, kernel, and modem all from the same release. That's why I'm keen on getting some kind of EP4D kernel.
P.S. MinimalInfinity has been running awesome thus far. Thanks for your work in getting Infinity together and to Grillrd for the port!

Not sure if this is a theme thing or an infinityrom thing, but is there a tutorial or anything on how to change the power control in notifications? I'm not on infinity, but is there something I can flash/install to be able to change power control?

Ok if jellybean is only a minor update to ics and not a total update, couldn't we in a way have that on our Infuse? Just a guess and wonder because if that's true then our devs could once again stomp Sammy feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, it's just a guess after all.

we will see in time. if the kernel end of it is close i think it can be done. the coming months will be exciting. the dev on this device has finally taken off. i know entropy works from source so it might take a bit of time before it becomes reality but i can't wait to see what happens. i just hope the new features dont bog the phone down, we are working with limited resources. i didn't think i'd be saying that any time soon since the market apps haven't really advanced but there is so much in the way of new interface features in jelly bean as far as multi tasking that it might be a ram hog and really benefit from multi core. it's possible jellybean will prompt me to get a newer phone but not imediately.

Your right only time will tell, but I see it as it may be able to be done because after all, everyone said we would never have working BT and now we do, people said the infuse would never see ICS and now we have a few ICS ROM's! I will never rule it out as impossible

there are hurdles but now there is experience and new understanding in the trouble areas. but it was the same way with the galaxy s and gingerbread. even though the hardware was almost identical to the nexus s it took much longer to get a release quality version of cm7 than most snapdragon powered devices, there were betas and early ports with no recovery mode done as proof of concept but the official release took some time. the filesystem, the bootloaders, and the way the kernel starts up is all different from the nexus and that took time to safely port. then with the infuse that was all figured out but the hardware kept throwing curveballs. i wasn't sure if we would see the day that bt was functional and hardware acceleration was working as it should but i felt we would see ics in some capacity since a lot of stuff can be emulated. now i think jellybean might happen but it might finally date the single core chip, single channel ram, and limited ram as multi tasking becomes better in android.

Noooo we are all just magically using bluetooth mice and headsets now lol its out finally. I think jellybean will come. And it should not bog down the infuse, itll make it faster with project butter

wouldn't it be better to wait for the nexus s dump, as that would be more identical and thus easier to port to GS1 devices?

yeah i think a nexus s port would be better but a source build is best. a port from a dump would likely be more proof of concept than a daily driver.
and as far as project butter goes, it might be a double edged sword. i'm sure the phone will continue to feel smooth for the average user but power users will multitask more. we may get more out of the phone than we have before but at the same time it might be easier to demonstrate the difference in newer devices. jelly bean might get the most out of the infuse but the infuse might not get the most out of jelly bean but i can be wrong on this. it's just opinion based on no real knowledge of how they plan to get smother performance or how that affects the resources the infuse has available....

Yea. it will only be a few weeks till source. And with the progress with ics I'm sure it won't take long to build. And entropy said he only builds from source. I'm sure he or nun would test it out.

This is just Motorola's camera app... no photosphere... Just like how Samsung has their own camera app... no gallery... maybe I can find it somewhere though

I agree... Touchwiz theming has basically been the same for years, they just change the color... From the few things of Motorola I have recently used... I like their ui better... It's a bit cleaner and not so iphonish... but Samsung definitely had better features, specs and options

There's obviously a reason why there are so many themes and mods out there. I think all android is made generic to appeal to the masses. 99% of android users probably have no idea what their phones are capable of. It's good to be able to check stuff out and have options like this posted by Blackness. It's nice to be able to customize our phones and try other things...

The last Motorola phone I had was a RAZR... the original RAZR flip phone... Lol... I definitely prefer Samsung... Although I wish Motorola would get it together in a major way... I prefer buying American products rather than products from a country that wants to nuke the US

i didn't mean it like that. obviously anyone involved in AOSP understands trying new things and experimenting different options. making custom roms i'm sure you're especially looking for the newest and best options out there and giving people as many options as possible!! :cyclops:

OK was a Motorola fanboy og droid, drpoid x, then I got a bionic. A side from the connectivity issue it was a good phone . I preordered gs3 to keep unlimited data and fell for Samsung . all of the things I wanted on blur like pulldown toggles, are there in touchwiz. Add in the development aspect and Samsung it is. I was worried about build quality but I have beaten this phone with nothing but a flipcase and no problems.
