Anyone else notice that the typing is really slow? It is extremely noticeable with SwiftKey. But I feel the letters have to catch up with my key presses, and it's really frustrating.

Yes, i noticed this too...
I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro... and i have to type slower than my usual speed because it lags badly if i type fast, and if i type too fast, it just freezes, till i hide and the bring up the keyboard again. (Although on the changelog for the latest version, it says compatible with ICS)
I thought this was limited to Smart Keyboard Pro... but thanks to you, i see that this may be more widespread. I'm using Virtuous Quattro RC2, BTW.
Can anyone else confirm if those two keyboards are working fine for you or lagging? (Or any third party keyboard, for that matter)
i don't use whatsapp but i thought my typing skills had just downgraded! It feels like that everywhere for me. I have to type pretty slow and often make mistakes. Feels like something to do with the sensitivity and responsiveness.

Welcome to the gang, @dan!
This has nothing to do with Whatsapp... it's a keyboard problem, which again is not a keyboard problem at all... the way i have it figured, its the bug that ICS ROMs have with multi-touch on saga. As rapid typing relies on sequential multi-touch, this is what is screwing up our blitzy typing!!
Here, read this for more data in support of my theory. http://bugs.unity.flemmard.net/issues/800

Agree with you dan... actually, i've already switched to Reaper a couple of days ago. Will come back to Quattro when RC3 is released.
For all the hoopla about ICS, stability and usability are paramount on my daily driver, and there is NOTHING out there better than Reaper, as far as AOSP GB is concerned. Plus, i've managed to satiate my craving for ICS, by heavily theming Reaper to clone that ICS feel.
I know, that an original will be an original...but hey, you take what you get!

Thanks for the responses guys.
I highlighted whatsapp because to be honest, I don't feel it on any other app. Go SMS pro & SwiftKey has no typing lag at all.
Even more weird, Whatsapp has more typing lag in group chats than in individual chats (even if the individual chat has 1000s of messages).
So it's confusing. But again, mostly noticeable only in whatsapp for now. I don't really want to stop using SwiftKey though, so I hope the devs can look into this when they have time as I think it's quite an urgent issue to fix.
Makes me feel like I'm using an old school S60 Nokia lol
Even though I've fallen in love with reaper, I have to know, does this problem exist in cm9?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
I've used CM9 & Quattro Rc1 and noticed a keyboard and general screen response lag with the stock keyboards. I'm not even a fast typer! Gone back to ics themed CM7.2 for now. May have to try reaper to though.

Hey your theory may be true but I don't think this is the issue I'm having, because it seems to be fine on certain windows, but really laggy on others.
I have no typing lag at all, but the my Smart Keyboard Pro keeps freezing all the time in WhatsApp, Messaging and any other app.

This seems to be exactly the cause. I just tested it and the results:
1. Type with one finger
> No freezing
2. Tap and hold one finger, hold second finger, release first finger, release second finger
> Instant freeze
Workaround: Go to Smart Keyboard settings -> Advanced settings -> [X] Disable multitouch
This might cause some typos if you type fast but at least it doesn't freeze.
Reaper is awesome, i tried it since v1.1 and its a damn good Rom. I had the same lags at typing in ICS Versions like the poststarter. But i tried to make a fullwipe again and flash new, after that it seemed to be better. But i changed back to Reaper, the package there worked better... sorry for my bad english

Are tired of waiting for samsung to update us all to honeycomb haha! If so check out the spb 3d launcher it is great, very smooth screen transitions like honeycomb or touchwiz, it has an option that lets you turn all your panels into a spining circular tray with a true 3d look and feel. I would suggest you take a look at the many youtube videos that are out there. Also there is a experimental option included that creates true 3d on your device, require those 3d glasses to experience it. And yes it cost $15 but worth it!

It is certainly good for eye candy and feels very smooth. But after using it for a day or so, you get bored with all the glitter and it slows down the tab within a few hours of use. It does also reduce the battery life a bit.

Agreed -- the birthday widget was quite cool, but not enough to part with my beloved Go Launcher
It's very cool and very fast. But there are a few things I would like to see changed:
- I can't change the size of the widgets. For instance, I can't put the Sense Analogue Clock in the middle of the screen
- I can't put a widget or quick link on more pages, just on one
- I can't put bookmarks directly on a screen, just through the bookmark widget.
- you can add only 3 different locations to the globe/world time widget
Or maybe I haven't found out yet how to do that?
I bought SPB for my Photon and recently installed it on my Sprint Tab and really like it on there!! I like it much better than ADW Launcher.
love it - thank 4 upload

In my experiences on other devices it has never been stable. Even when a so-called stable mod is released there are many problems. If you want a bug free rom then don't install CM or any other hacker community roms. Stick with stock. I'm not knocking them; just saying they are not for people that expect a smooth, seamless, bug free experience.

I took your advice and got ADWLauncher EX and I must say I'm glad I did. The menu is much faster and there is more customization.
I just have a question, do you know if you are able to make the background transparent while in the menu? Right now the background black.
Does CM7 use the default internal storage or does it skips over the extra 5 gigs all together and installs apps in the sd card?
It gives you a choice where to install.
As for the other question... remember, asking for CM ETAs causes baldness and impotence (or frigidity in case you are female).

THANK YOU for actually responding. To be completely honest I am using eaglesblood which is based off the cm7 builds. In the cyanogen Mod settings and applications, there are choices for internal and sd card, either of which still makes my apps and music go to the sd card.

From home screen

Have your phone in portrait because if it is in landscape you can't see the slider bar.

I've tested several ROMs, Infused, Serendipity, DarkyRom, going to try gsinfused next.
I routinely have problems with a very laggy phone, I have a live wallpaper running(which I love), and I always have trillian running. Most of the time it's pretty smooth, but after a while sometimes it gets really laggy, even when I end all the tasks in task manager it seems to persist in this unstable state.
One of the biggest causes of this unstable state is when I'm using google maps, or using bluetooth in my car, this can really kill the stability.
Can anyone offer me any advice? I really like the setup I have right now, am I just pushing the phone too far? Or is there some settings I can modify to continue using the apps I like.
You could try wiping cache and dalvic cache in recovery whenever things get slow
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Trillian. Live wallpaper. Looks like most of your apps are memory consuming, and CPU consuming. Google maps with navigation takes up resources on a higher side. Maybe try taking off live wallpaper.
As apps continue to stay in background running (not just preloaded ones) like trillian, the memory used by them increases with time, and this makes lesser memory available to any new app.

I've been flashing about 2 ROMs per week, all have their pros and cons. Of all the ROMS I've flashed, I keep coming back to what I call Old Reliable (for me), Sensation 1.1. No reboots, FC's, it's fast, stable and with the Modem/ kernel combo I run, I get 4+ to 7 mbps DL, 2+ UL on network, and 18-30 hours battery life, depending on usage.
This has been MY experience. I've had the same thing occur on the "newer" ROMs which no one can explain. Black screen, green Android, yellow block letters "kernel panic", then I have to pull battery to reboot. I do have a pic of this on my digital camera at home, which I'll post later, it's a strange occurrence.
Use dman3285's stock rom. Clean, fast and made for the Infuse.
[ROM]SGH_I997 UCKL2(Rooted, Deodexed, and Busybox)(CRT off)
But definately lose the live wallpaper. They're neat, but they really slow things down.

Yup - I do one kill on boot to clean cruft, and will do a kill if something is clearly misbehaving, other than that - I don't do it and def. not autokill.
Probably live wallpapers is the culprit, they're notorious for being laggy.

111... 34 frozen cos I hardly use them.
I've been loving the leak of ICS on my Atrix 2 (MB865) and while I think Motorola has done great with the OS so far, I truly think they did a remarkable job with the user interface on the newly released Atrix HD. So with a little idle time on my hands, I set out trying to transform the Atrix 2's UI into that of the HD's, and I'm happy to say that I'm super excited with the results at the moment. Here're some pics of my progress...

Working smart icons ...
And page management ...
All powered by my Atrix 2...
Still playing with and perfecting the modifications, but so far I'm very satisfied with the rock solid stability and speed of the transformed UI. I'll be delving further into all the goodies that the AHD has to offer and try to port them over to my beloved A2. Stay tuned

I think the onscreen buttons along with the non-removable Google search bar are a blatant waste of valuable screen real estate, so no... the buttons will not be included .

For the weather widget to work properly, you must push the AHD's weather app to your system---app folder and set its permission to rw--r--r. A backup of your stock weather.apk is also necessary. Restart after you're done and it should work.

Indeed. Since we've got the buttons, might as well use them.
The problem with onscreen buttons is that manufacturers haven't reduced the bezel size to compensate. This is very apparent on the atrix hd, especially with that AT&T logo placement.
Aside from that, the new stock experience looks pretty decent. Thanks for your efforts porting it over.

Super apparent in the AHD since I've seen people hitting the AT&T logo thinking it's a home button
I just implemented the Jelly Bean (JB) animation framework into the mod and though it works flawlessly, I just don't know... Is it me, or do the JB animations seem a bit overdone The ICS animations just seem more subtle and professional.
Can someone post the stock weather app? I accidentally uninstalled it without making a backup of it first.
Theres a widget in the market called rings digital weather that looks exactly like the HD widget pictured. Weather works fine with it.
How did you do the live icons? My RAZR maxx is feeling left out
