This morning, went to market->My Apps on my Xoom, and it's only showing about half of my apps. No apparent pattern to what is missing (and I can see that market still has them, just its not seeing them associated with my account.) It was fine yesterday, and no updates on my end.
Anyone else seeing this?

When you scroll down your list in MyApps, do you see a list of uninstalled apps after the installed apps? If not, look at the menu (the 4 stacked up lines in upper right hand corner) and click on purchase history. That should have all the apps you've downloaded and you should be able to reinstall the missing ones, unless Google Market thinks they are no longer compatible with your Xoom.

No, they aren't listing as uninstalled, not listing at all. Purchase history on the market.android.com web site is showing them, with install completed. So far, I think I've only seen free apps missing, but need to check more closely. But it's not all free apps, some remain.
Ok, one new data point. My market account is shared between my Xoom and my Photon. Just checked on the Photon and it is still showing apps in my apps that are not showing up on the Xoom (like Adobe Flash.) Very strange...

A simple reboot should solve the problem. It has happened to me a few times at random, but not as of lately. Not sure if the market runs into some issues or the system itself, but after a reboot everything should pop up and be just fine. It always did for me when I had this issue.

Rebooted, no change. Dug further, I'm only seeing paid apps, plus Google Maps and Videos in the list. But if I go in market to one of the other apps (for instance, Kindle), the market page offers open/manage, not install, so at that level it knows I have downloaded/installed the app.
Sent off a "Contact Us" to Google.

Response from Google yesterday asked me to remove updates to Market. Problem was, I haven't received any updates to Market. So latest is that this is a problem they've seen in some other cases, no current fix, but a "specialist" will be getting in touch with me. No further followup today.

Two days, two nags on the support email, no contact from the "specialist".
Found an app that I had installed that wasn't showing up had an update. Navigated to the app in market, and it showed update. Did the update. As the update finished, the app flickered into the My Apps list for about 2 seconds, then disappeared out of the list.

Well, nagged Google again today, at least for a hint of when there might be a fix. Did get a response - basically we know there is a problem, we have no estimate for a workaround or a fix.

Here's what I would try if I were you:
1. Go to the options, applications, manage applications, all, and then scroll down and click the Market. Since you are having major issues it sounds like, I would recommend that you just hit clear data for the Market app. Maybe restart before you open the market again. See if that helps at all.
2. Just out of curiosity I would install the latest market update that was released for phones. I would see if the problem was still persistent there in the new market app. This market was intended for phones at the moment, but it looks like it will support tablets soon. It seems to fit pretty well on the Xoom. If all goes well, maybe you can stick with that one for a bit.
Here you can find the most recent apk for the market that was released for the phones some days ago: Android Market 3.1.3
That's really the only advice I can think of. If you were rooted you would wipe data, caches, and dalvik cache to start a fresh new install to see if that changes anything. On technical speaking terms: there really is not much else you can do if this all does not work for you. Never seen anyone experience this before.
Thanks for the suggestions. Just tried both, and neither made a difference. Actually, pretty surprised 2) didn't make at least something different about the problem. I'm starting to wonder if the problem is something on the server/account side...
Google says they have seen others with the problem and are working on it, guess I'll just have to wait them out.

Sounds like it's server sided to me, which is really odd. I suppose it is a very unknown problem that only a very select few people have run into. Like I said, I have never seen this issue before on the Xoom.
I tried my best to help, but it's beyond anything we can deal with personally. Google says that they are working on this problem, so just hang in there.

I'm not sure if you fixed it yet but here goes. I had the same problem; more than half of my apps would not show up under the "My Apps" list, even though if I searched for them in the market I could still update/uninstall them. I also searched through the forums but none of the suggestions helped. I finally fixed it tonight. Here's what I did:
(Oh yeah, you'll need Titanium Backup to be able to use the Market Doctor)
First I went to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications.
Selected the Market. Cleared cache, data, and uninstall updates.
Then immediately (I suggest you have it ready as a background app) I opened Titanium Backup and ran the Market Doctor. The reason i say 'immediately' is because the Market will re-update itself fairly fast so you have to get it done before it does so since I believe the Market Doctor does not work with the new Market.
That was pretty much it. When I opened the Market I saw that all my apps actually showed up in the My Apps list even after the Market updated itself. Hope it works for you.
I think you need to be rooted to use Titanium Backup, don't you? I'm running stock.
Nope, no more followup from Google at all. And now, even if I manually go to the market entry for an app, it won't always show me the "update" button, even though there is an update available.

3 business weeks in, no fix, no workaround, not even an update email that they are still working on it. Google has a lot of customer support ground to cover to be a consumer company, and for now (3 weeks) I can't update my apps.

Still getting the runaround from the Google Android Market Team. "At this time, I'm unable to provide a timeline for resolution, though I can assure you that we're aware of the issue and actively investigating. Thank you for your patience!" every time I nag them for the last 4 weeks. No request for more data from me, debug/logging version to run, etc.
So Monday I asked to have the case transfered to the manager. Get a new email, from "Richard" (no last name, same email address as the prior support member) saying the case had been transferred to him, and saying exactly the same text. Replied asking if there was anything I could provide to help, no response in now two days.
Looks like Google still hasn't learned anything about customer support. Can't wait to see how they do with Moto if the deal goes through...

He told me that they have identified the source of the problem, so don't need any further information from me. No, there is not a fix available of any kind, and he doesn't know when there will be one. No, there is no work around other than calling up each app individually in Market and seeing if there is an update (not very practical for my large number of apps.)
At this point, I'm tired of beating a dead horse. I know we aren't Google's customers, we're their product, but they still have to learn to take user satisfaction seriously.

Not sure what to say at this point. If it was more widespread it would have been fixed right away. But, if it appears that they have now identified the problem, the coders will resolve it within days from now.
My final suggestion is to make a new email account altogether and try that. See if it still is the same problem. If so: It is your device, not Google.

It's not the device, because the problem is also replicated on the web site. Also, remember the Xoom is the reference device for Honeycomb (and I'm running stock), so still a Google issue if it is Xoom specific.
Given it's been a month and they haven't been interested in getting any further data from me, I'm not overly optimistic that it will be fixed in the next few days, but I'd love to be proved wrong.

Oh I hear ya man. I'm just not sure what else to tell ya, sorry man.
Keep crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. You've done your part as a customer by contacting them and letting them know the problem, and they seemed to have identified the issue now. So I'd say you're in better shape than you previously were at the beginning.
personally, i happen to like the stock ui of this phone, so i didnt want to flash a custom rom or anything like that. i kept searching for different ways to improve performance and limit bugginess, and here is what i have come up with. first, root is a must for this phone. so is cwm recovery. the first thing i did was boot into cwm recovery and run fix permissions. this stopped the constant rebooting, but i was still experiencing the vibrating and force closing problem. i began deleting bloatware apps that i wasnt using. i installed an app called total commander for android, which has many different wonderful functions, one of which is mounting any partition as r/w. when you are done modifying a partition, you can also mount it back to r/o. so i removed most of tmobiles and samsungs bloatware apps, such as device carbon, zipwhip, telenav, group texting, qwik video chat, twitter, myspace, swype, and maybe a few i cant remember. each time i deleted system apps, i went back to cwm and fixed permissions again. now so there is no confusion, i didnt fix permissions after deleting every single app. say i would delete five or six apps, when i was done deleting them all, i would fix permissions. the reason for this is that i found that after deleting system apps, the system would still have permssions stored for those apps, and i believe this caused system errors similar to registry errors in windows. so, after deleting most unneccessary system apps, i saw more improvements, but there was still a bit of buginess. i was looking for something on google one day when i ran across a forum for the samsung vibrant where a member had issues with the same buzzing and force closing i had experienced. it was a buzz, a pause, then buzz-buzz-buzz. another member revealed that there were three main causes of this issue, which were androids native gmail client, wifi, and the stock android browser. i dont use wifi, but i got rid of the android browser and gmail client. i installed a third party email client from the market called maildroid, and use opera mobile as my default browser. i havent had any more problems except with two apps. one is slacker radio which is embedded in the media room app. it froze my phone every time i tried to load it. not a big loss, since i dont use it. just cant delete it without deleting media room and i use media room as my music player. but it still works fine as long as i dont open slacker. the other one is media hub. also froze my phone every time i opened it. not a big loss there either since i download most of my music from free sites. i deleted it. the only time i have force closes is when in settings i accidentally hit drivesmart, and thats because i deleted the drivesmart app. so im on stock ui and no crashes, freezes, lags or force closes. been about a week since my last unexplained crash. this might not work for everyone, but it might be a start.
If any of this does help anyone out there who wants to stay on the stock rom, feel free to reply or hit the thanks button

oh yeah i gut all Samsung and t-mobile aps from my phone, but i use custom roms as well. I havn-t had a force-close in over a week and the last one i had was with the stock browser.

I havent had a problem with gallery. I use it to view my pictures. the gallery on this phone is quite nice compared to my last phone.

I suggest PowerAmp over the stock music player.
Another source of issues is the TouchWiz launcher. Nix it.
That just leaves Google Maps. Unfortunately, there are no good alternatives...
I personally havent had any problems with any other apps. i like the stock apps that i actually use, such as gallery, the stock music player, google maps, and TouchWiz. A lot of people bash the TW launcher, but i really dont think its the problem. i dont have any problems with it at all. i have tried other launchers, but i end up ditching them because they are larger than the stock launcher and use more RAM. i avoid using 3rd party apps over stock apps unless absolutely necessary, as in the case of gmail and android browser. getting rid of those apps stopped the buzzing and force closing for me. the reason i avoid using 3rd party apps over stock apps is because they take up space and sometimes use more ram. the TW launcher is actually quite small compared to other launchers, being only a few kb in size where other launchers are on average 2 to 5 mb. the most recent launcher i tried was WP7 launcher, which imitates the windows 7 ui. i liked it, but google navigation froze in that launcher. back to stock launcher, and navigation worked fine again. i know that i personally dont have any problems with TW launcher, gallery, or the stock music player, and i like all of them.

The gallery takes forever and depends on the media scanner. Quickpic starts up faster shuts completely down when it's finished.
As for memory, 3rd party launchers play very nice with the system and let go of their resources when the OS asks them to. Can't say the same thing for TouchWiz.

Of course, you're free to do any slow thing you want with your device. It just won't perform as well as it could.
you are completely free to have your own opinions. but in my experience, im not having problems with the stock apps. in fact, i reinstalled the stock browser and gmail and still no problems. my phone works fine for the way i use it. you may use your phone in different ways or for different things than i do, so 3rd party solutions may be necessary for you. im not having any problems with my phone, so they arent necessary for me. you keep saying oh you'll want to do this or you'll want to do that. maybe you need all these 3rd party apps because you dont know how to manage your stock apps. almost every time i am finished doing anything with my phone, i go to task manager, exit all apps, and hit clear memory. every couple of days, i clear my app cache. i use optimize android toolbox for that. i dont even reboot my phone on a daily basis, and still, no problems. no lags, freezes, force closes, crashes, or random reboots. not a single one. i would say thats top performance in my book. now, enough said.
i feel like you two are going at it, you both have your own opinions, i side with the stock apps being poorly written and potentially causing issues. Im using gallary again because i like how it pulls pics from online, but for the browser i use opera mini just because i like the layout better (no hate towards the stock one)
I remove every apk that is not needed for what i do with my phone, including blutooth and some others that ive discovered do not inhibit the functioning of the device. This is all because im just a huge nerd with OCD and like to play around with things and have them running as clutter free as possible. Remember guys this is why we all use android, so we have the freedom to customize the device to our own needs.
i just want to say one more thing. when i started this thread, the information in my OP wasnt intended to be a guide for getting this phone to peak performance or to make it the fastest or best that it could be. it was intended as a starting place for those who simply want to get their phone running PROPERLY with the stock rom/ui. PROPERLY means without any glitches, force closes, freezes, lags, crashes or random reboots. there is a big difference between PROPERLY and BEST. for instance, take a car that comes out of the factory and has some problems. you can correct the problems and get it running PROPERLY, or you can supe it up and get it running the BEST/FASTEST. some people are happy with something just working properly, while others want the best/fastest. so for anyone who wants info on getting this phone running the best/fastest, feel free to start your own thread. this thread is for info on getting this phone WORKING PROPERLY. THANK YOU.

thats the only thing that irritated me. i repeatedly stated that certain stock apps were working fine for me. this guy repeatedly told me to replace the apps that i said were working fine for me. if you dont like those apps, fine. do whatever you want with your phone. dont keep insisting that i copy you. and the comment about doing any slow thing you want is what really irked me. i feel like that makes it sound like im an idiot for not doing what he tells me to do. i took it as disrespectful. i got no beef with anything or anyone else here.
if any of the apps that this guy insisted i replace were actually causing problems, i think i would still be having problems. especially touchwiz, which everyone thinks is so terrible, which isnt causing me any problems at all.
i think it only causes issues with memory, it doesnt manage it well. But i think you aid you close apps manually so it wouldnt be as bad.
Manually closing programs doesn't allow the garbage collector to do its job. Over time, small amounts of memory tied to hanging handles will add up and you will encounter issues.
Once again, it's your device. If you are happy, do what you like.

so how does the performance compare to custom roms like gingerclone or glorious overdose? (I ask since I am considering buying a sidekick, and want to know how much tweaking i'll need to do)
okay orange808, if you want to continue insisting you're right, then fine, you're right. now drop it. as far as which custom rom is the best, i cant answer since i havent flashed a rom.

Ways to Remove Unnecessary Apps
One way and my personal favorite is to use Titanium Backup. It can uninstall these apps but can also back them up.
Another way is to use a file manager that can access /system/app. this is one of the harder ways since it can get difficult to know what is what because it just gives package names. ex. com.mobitv.client.tmobiletvhd.apk is the T-Mobile TV app
Safe to remove NOTE: This is how they appear in Titanium Backup. Always make a backup both TiB and Nandroid before starting

If you do remove something you shouldnt
If you can boot, then just restore the app you removed in titanium backup.
If you bootloop you got two options
1. Restore Nandroid backup in CWM (good thing I did a Nandroid backup, right?)
2. No Nandroid Backup, its not guarantied but you might be able to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601 . A factory reset/data wipe may be needed in stock recovery
I will try to see if I can post backup files in case some one does remove something they shouldn't.

I'll say it here again, "bloatware" is a misnomer of a term. Your phone will not work faster removing these applications. Personally I removed them because I didn't want to ever see the notification for them having an update in the store. Also, having them installed, but not running, has *zero* impact on your battery.
I point this out because if you're ever unsure about whether you should remove uninstall something, don't.
These are the apps I have personally chosen to uninstall or freeze, and my phone has worked flawlessly for several weeks:

True, it won't affect your phone much to remove these apps, but some of these still run in the background. I personally do this because I feel my phone runs a bit better and I just don't want them on my phone. I'm doing it for those who want to remove stuff but don't know what can be.

You think those apps, "run in the background?" The majority of those apps, and probably more, don't even load up at all, much less "in the background" unless the user of the phone INSTRUCTS THEM TO.
And you put twlauncher in the "safe to remove" category? If ADW, LauncherPro, or whatever else a person is using crashes or gets corrupted, good luck!
This thread just shouldn't exist, the information has already been posted, in the thread where the instructions to even allow it to be done in the first place.

Look, on my phone, lookout mobile along with Telenav and a few others still loaded on the memory. What I'm trying to do is something helpful for the blaze community.
If you have something against me, don't post it here. Pm me or bring it up with a moderator. If you want to post something help, please do so. ( I appreciate the fact that you reminded me to include a warning about touch wiz launcher). This is an open community where we try to help each other, not argue.

Personally, I always selected "make a backup" with TitaniumBackup Pro before removing an app, and if TBP ever gave the warning message about that app not being deodexed, I instead chose to freeze it.

Your comment is completely untrue - Android is an operating system; just like any other - Windows, Linux, iOS, etc...
By removing applications that run in the backround and take critical memory (RAM) you instantly make your phone run faster...many of these applications run in the backround and the only way to stop them is to:
* Freeze them
* Uninstall them
THUS - removing applications that aren't vital to a user; and are taking system resources away; instantly speeds your phone up...not only do you free ram but you also take away applications which are using processor power...

Samsung has actually optimized CPU and RAM quite well. Most of the "bloatware" does not take CPU or RAM, and some due. Removing them does not make a noticible difference on this phone, although on some past Samsung models it did.
And not to get off topic, but you can frame 'corrections' in a appropriate tone and not accuse him/her of being void of logic. Which wasn't even true.

My posting was simply made so people were not under the WRONG assumption that taking a few minutes to get junkware off their O/S wouldn't make a difference. It will actually save a good amount of system resources; and give a much more rich experience that Google intended...

No, actually I did not clarify your point. My point was in contrast with yours. Rooting the phone has many other benefits than possibly speeding up a phone that's already optimized in this respect.

The amount of time "saved" from "freeing up resources" so the phone can "have as rich of an experience as Google intended" is much less than the time it took for either one of us to write our posts, or for any would-be person to read them.

1 thing that we need to remember, is that this message board is not for arguing our points. How about we simply agree to disagree over this matter? You clearly are not going to see it my way - and I clearly believe that taking junkware/bloatware is clearly beneficial to the phone.
I have seen it in action on many android phones that I have serviced, and I also saw how removing junkware off of my personal blaze freed up a lo of memory.
What we should do is now let users of the thread that have seen 2 different peoples point of view make up their minds for themselves. If we continue to go back and forth it does nothing but take up valuable space here on the thread and does a disservice to the users...a healthy debate and conversation is good / but this is beginning to become toxic and redundant!

FYI
i wouldn't get rid of the default Gallery app (Gallery3D.apk) it seems like for some reason you can't set a Lock screen wallpaper it only has Wallpaper gallery as an option but if i want to set a Home screen wallpaper i can choose from Live wallpapers, Quickpic Wallpaper (an gallery app i downloaded), & Wallpaper gallery.
With Gallery installed the Lock screen options are Gallery & Live wallpapers and when i tap on Gallery i get a bunch of options including the Quickpic and i set that as default and when i go to Quickpic and say "set as" i get options to set as Home screen or Lock screen wallpaper now as i didn't before without Gallery installed
So yeah not sure why i need the default Gallery app to set Lock screen wallpaper but whatever
Use autoresizewallpaper instead..don't need the stock gallery..I got rid of mine

Removing 'bloatware' from an android (linux) environment will only effect boot time (phone will be fully booted/usable faster). As it is so often pointed out in forums, once an app is cached (most of the time this happens during boot) it is not using cpu cycles and thus not eating away at any battery life (the RAM will have the same power draw whether it is being used or not) - that is until that app is opened (as any running app will use battery). So if you are looking for a more responsive phone removing bloat isn't going to help - you are literally better off buying a more powerful phone. However I can attest to removing bloat and speeding up boot times from using a 1st gen Exhibit 4g. Removing the 'bloat' decreased my boot time on my exhibit by 10-15 seconds! But beyond speeding up boot times there is no real reason to remove 'bloat' (unless you just don't want those crappy apps on your phone). Let's not get on a tangent on ram cleaners (task killers) please... as they are worthless and do eat away at battery life (as the os realizes it needs to re-cache those apps...) :victory:

Look, we dont need any more of those kind of posts. I understand it wont affect much, but some do want to remove certain apps like myself. I have wanted to rename post to safe to remove apps, but i dont know how to do that. Unless you have something to contribute to this, dont post things like those apps arent bloatware or that they dont do anything to affect performance. We are trying to help each other out.

Uh.. wha? I believe you misunderstood my post entirely. I never said that there is no point in removing 'bloatware'/preinstalled apps. The purpose of my post was only to inform. Please re-read my post (without bias). There's this false assumption that removing bloat will make a phone faster and it's just not true. Removing '411 & more' & 'netflix' is NOT going to make my quadrant score higher or give me more FPS playing games.
I may be over-generalizing here but this is what I have come to understand in regards to Android:
Need more storage & want faster boot times? ---> remove bloat/preinstalled apps.
Want better battery life? --> buy extended battery, adjust screen brightness to lowest viewing level.
Want a faster phone? ---> get a custom rom with OC/buy setcpu and OC or buy a faster phone.

Hi Everyone! ??
Now that it appears we have a new, solid way to disable and effectively block Amazon bloatware/system apps from our Fire tablets (detailed in this awesome HOW TO guide as discovered by Supersonic27543), I thought I'd take a moment to at least give a good starting effort at updating the very useful system app tracking spreadsheet that bakshi originally created a few months ago (I use it all the time/have found it very helpful!).
With FireOS 5.6.2.0 and 'Show Mode' and what have you, there are more and more stock system apps and I just wanted to see if we could collectively share our findings. I ran the simple ADB command that lists system apps/packages on my HD 8 (2017) and them simply appended the new items onto a copy of bakshi's Google sheet, added some color coding, etc. I haven't had a lot of time to fill in a lot of the app details that I've become familiar with myself, but I wanted to at least get something started. So here is an easier to read html presentation view of my updated sheet, and here is a version allows for filtering/column resizing/comments/etc..
Ummm ?, does someone by chance have any interest in taking ownership of this document? Or maybe at least collectively? ?? I do have more details that I've learned through my own trial and error / several factory resets and I'm more than happy to share, but I'm not really an Android OS wizard or pro. Many of the new apps are part of "Show Mode" / are new calling features (which I find weird / frustrating since we don't even get the full "Echo Show" drop-in / calling experience anyway) ... ??
Hopefully this document can be useful for many of us. I'm happy to hear any thoughts and to share ownership of the document with anyone who wants to take a stab.

My Kindle Fire HD 8 is soooo Slow
Hey me again, so I'm looking at your updated spreadsheet for 5.6.2.0 on the bloatware. I'm trying to understand it - i.e what can I remove safely? I assume the apps that you have marked as 'safe' can be removed. What about the ones that have a blank in the column 'Safe to Remove'? I can see why some shouldn't be removed, but why do I care about amazon.glorialist (for example). I have no idea what that even is - that's not saying much... I guess I'm confused at this point on what I can get rid of. I have my fire HD back to ground zero, running 5.6.2.0 but that's it and it's running pretty good speed wise. But I have to get rid of something because once I install google services I'll be right back where I was (dial-up or less response) so then I might as well as stay with the vanilla Fire. Thanks!

With regard to which exact programs should be disabled, a couple of things come to mind. First - I have to be open and say I, myself am still trying to find just the right balance. Every day when I get free time, I tinker around and enable/disable certain apps. By far, the tablet is in a much more use-able state than it was with all those factory-installed apps running, but there are still minor issues that pop up. As you can see from that post of mine you quoted above with the spreadsheet, I kinda foolishly assumed that there'd be kind of a collective conversation about this among HD 8 owners on here, and while I did get some good information and continue to daily, I realized very quickly that there isn't really a one-size-fits-all answer here. So to answer your question, I'd say what apps you disable largely depend on your goals for how you plan to use the device. Some people want to strip the device of anything Amazon as much as possible with the hope of ending up with as close to a stock "Android" device as possible. Some people want to be able to use Alexa still, some people like their Kindle e-books or whatever. I can definitely help you look at which individual apps to disable but would need to know what features you'd like to keep and what features you want to remove. Are you wanting to install a new launcher, or keep the FireOS launcher? Do you want full Alexa as well as "Show Mode"? All things to consider and totally changes what apps you disable or leave be. So that's the first thing to take into consideration when deciding which apps to disable.
Another thing to be aware of is that if you disassemble certain packages this annoying parental control lock warning begins to pop up (I guess you could say Amazon kinda booby-trapped the device, lol). It's not a big deal, but depending on what you disable, you'll notice an annoying pop-up message. The original author of that de-bloat thread (Supersonic27543) mentions this in his OP. There are fixes for this though.
User Ivorin put together a nice list of apps he chose to disable with clear notes and I found this helpful. I've made a few minor modifications however on my own device, added a few more to disable, kept a couple he chose to disable. See his list here.
Another question I have for you is how are you going about installing Google Services? Is there a certain guide/thread you're following? There are several different posts on here with essentially the same set of instructions, but I do think there are a couple of different suggested steps among these posts, with some methods a little better than others. I only ask this because, you shouldn't really experience any major slow-down in performance after installing Google/the Play Store, at least not like it sounds like you've been experiencing. My device(s) overall are pretty snappy and solid. So we should look at that as well.
Sorry I didn't have a simple, one-size-fits-all answer for you, but if you give me just a few more details I'll have answers for you and you should be able to quickly make it all come together.

This is the thread I've typically followed when installing Google Services/Play store. These four files, in this order. It doesn't matter that they're outdated - as soon as you bring it all online it will update itself to the latest versions.

You asked for it so here goes:
Well in a perfect world I would like it to do everything my laptop does... However back to reality. I got it to:
1. Play how-to videos
2. Pull up other types of information via the web
3. Get mail and my calendar and contacts plus keep the last two updated off my Outlook installed on my PC. (I want the gmail app at least and it’s not on the Amazon app store). I know I can get yahoo thru the Appstore. I would rather use Outlook but refuse to pay for Outlook 365. I need to keep the Fire stock email, calendar and contacts for the program I run on outlook to propagate the calendar/contacts. I’m sure there are others apps but this works and right now that’s all I care about.
4. Play videos when I’m on the road (either wifi or downloaded)
5. I do like the voice to text recognition because without a regular keyboard my typing frustrates me (I use the same on my phone)
6. Read doc files like PDF, Work, EXCEL, PPT etc. Only need a reader, don’t want to create or edit.
7. Not a bit gamer – when waiting at a docs office I play solitaire (mostly) or candy crush so don’t need resources for that.
8. I’m still old fashioned – if I want to read a book I want paper, the same goes for magazines and newspapers. I read on the laptop when I have to. So I could care less about Kindle…
9. I can’t stand the fire launcher but I’ve read where Nova is inconsistent on Fire HD so might be stuck with that unless there is something else out there that works??? (low on my priority list).
10. I do like Alexa because I use it in the house. If she is a big hog I’ll get rid of it.
11. Get rid of the ads
I think that’s the majority of it. I just want to get decent response time but I don’t know what to delete. For example, I tried killing some stuff that was running in the background but didn’t know what those processes were and ended up having to reboot. I did this a few times and got frustrated and quit.
Have I ended up confusing the issue? I just don’t have time to keep tinkering around with this thing. If I can get decent response time and get my must-have apps on there I’ll be happy. I just would like to know what I can kill and be done with it...

Well that took some time because I was flip flopping around and the instructions weren’t very clear (I figured it out) but I ultimately got from two sources.

He had two ‘features’ I used. 1) remove the annoying ads, 2) fix it so Amazon updates doesn’t break the Google apps.

I see the instructions you used are different and I also see that you can disable the ads thru that ‘pm’ command? I saw mention of that in Ivorin’s list that you referred me to – maybe it was in the other ones too, I just saw his comment in that list.

BTW, the first site you sent me to on the bloatware: He has instructions on getting com.amazon.unifiedsharefacebook. FYI it was already on my Fire HD after I went and got it off the site. I did see where someone said it used to be there but the developers got rid of it – I guess not since I have 5.6.2….

I've used the method in the thread you linked multiple times on my HD 10 7th gen running 5.6.1.0 and I can say it works perfectly every time and have never had any issues with Google play store/services acting up in any way.

OK, I loaded the four APKs you and richaardvark suggested. All went fine thank you. So that's all I have on it now, except for Stock and a file manager. I'm trying things one at a time to see if there is a particular app that brings me to my knees. I do still need to remove the bloatware once that's figured out.
What I'm running into is I use the SILK browser to load up sites that I go to all the time just to see if I'm getting decent response. I have two that are so slow on the Fire but not on my phone for example. Now what I'm seeing on the 'draggers' is after a long period it comes back and says "No Internet". All I have to do is hit enter and it loads right up. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this? I tested the same sites on my phone with no issues.... Thanks!

I've used the method in the thread you linked multiple times on my HD 10 7th gen running 5.6.1.0 and I can say it works perfectly every time and have never had any issues with Google play store/services acting up in any way.
OK, I loaded the four APKs you and richaardvark suggested. All went fine thank you. So that's all I have on it now, except for Stock and a file manager. I'm trying things one at a time to see if there is a particular app that brings me to my knees. I do still need to remove the bloatware once that's figured out.
What I'm running into is I use the SILK browser to load up sites that I go to all the time just to see if I'm getting decent response. I have two that are so slow on the Fire but not on my phone for example. Now what I'm seeing on the 'draggers' is after a long period it comes back and says "No Internet". All I have to do is hit enter and it loads right up. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this? I tested the same sites on my phone with no issues.... Thanks!

Why don't you just install chrome since you have the play store up and running? I use it daily without any issues on mine. And I got rid of all the Amazon crap. You can see all the apps I currently have installed in the attached pics.

i like some of the amazon apps but prefer the straight android versions from google play can the book music prime vids work if i get rid of the stock versions a replaced with apks? plus dont want alexa at all or any of the new crap amazon pushed with latest update... is it possible to get uptodate without all the crap? cause im still at 5.6.1.0? i know alot of questions....

Yes, I will do that. I need to get rid of the Amazon crap too - just need to figure out what I can safely get rid of. I was checking speeds before I loaded it up with standard android apps - which I did last time and my system ran at a crawl so I'm trying to identify one-by-one which one (or ones) are the culprit. (I completely started over from scratch after looking at this forum and getting help from y'all).

My solution to the slow system was to remove all the Amazon stuff that has been deemed safe to remove that I've seen in various threads here. Of course some still want to use some Amazon apps so it's not the solution for everyone. Just keep in mind while you are trying stuff that removing one thing may break something else and cause your tablet to slow down. But best of luck, be sure to post your findings! [emoji4]

I posted this in another thread but basically I got everything working and started 'PM Hiding' stuff. I read that 'pm hide' and 'pm disable' are essentially the same. Sometimes I would have to leave the 'com' on front of the name (that I was trying to hide), other times I had to leave it off. I was getting 'new hidden state: true' but after reboot they are all still on my desktop I don't know why.
I was using Richaarvark spreadsheet and only getting rid of 'safe' stuff. Some stuff I don't want to get rid of. Others I wasn't sure. But I definately got rid of all the parental controls, the clock, weather, maps but they are still there and I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Help tremendously appreciated. I'll get back to NOVA once I get this figured out

Have you tried pm disable instead? Hide might only be hiding it in your launcher until reboot. Otherwise, although you'd have to reset to get them back, you could try the method in this thread.

I know it says 5.6 and up it won't work, but I'm on 5.6.1.0 and my friend is on 5.6.2.0 and it's worked for both ours.

Thanks for the info but... I tried pm disable and half of them wouldn't disable - why I went to hide them. Also, when this kept happening what I read was disable requires a rooted device (mine is not).
Do you think I could just try pm uninstalling - I don't want to start over! I've spent hours on this and have brain drain and looked at so many threads. I have an HD 8.
Interesting, I just checked this. While my desktop icons didn't disappear my searches on chrome have gotten a lot faster! I had two sites that I was testing with that were so slow I would walk away while they loaded up. Now they load up great! Hum.....

I haven't attempted to do anything regarding disabling or removing system apps on mine without root, plus I have the 10 not the 8 so there's other lil differences too.
That combined with Amazon making things more difficult to be done with every update not sure if I could point you in a direction to go without doing a bunch of digging through threads myself lol.
I'm sure there is someone will be able to chime in and help ya out, just a matter of time. Hope ya get it figured out and I'll be checking back to see what happens! [emoji854]

can some1 tell me what i did wrong i disable only the safe apk.. reboot the amazon goes into moptimizing system storange application mode forever.. then i have to go into adb and sideload stock firmware
I've known for 2 years I've been hacked. Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy because for 2 years I've been convinced that my phone was being controlled remotely even though I've changed devices, profiles, and deleted more apps than I can count. Finally yesterday I dicovered Total Virus Scan and it found this. I've had at least 50 antivirus apps with no success and I was not sure if maybe I wasn't a going crazy. I even would stop using my phone for a month or more at a time because that was the only time I had issues. Whoever is behind this has taught me everything I know about android and hacking by directing me in a way that is hard to explain. I'd just see what they wanted me to do by a random page that would pop up, or sentence highlighted, or other discreet cues. If I have not had 100% accuracy on certain issues I've been informed about by following these cues I would be certain I was crazy but there has been like 50 personal issues I've been informed about by following these cues and not a single time has it been we wrong. Unfortunately I let it consume me for about a year and almost ruined my life because of it and what I've learned has seriously altered my life. Yesterday Total Virus Scan found this Keylogger, 2 Trojan, RAT in OS. How do I remove these from my OS andcatch who is behind this? Attached is screenshot of the 4 issues found. Also on SD Maid it said my device wasn't rooted but had a built-in superuser app. Can't find the screenshot I had of that but had a url of toybox. A bunch of numbers then said [email protected] something. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Could you try to create a backup of those apps and upload somewhere? Maybe it is possible to check it
Try to uninstall those apps with an app uninstaller
If you are unable to uninstall those apps they might be deeply installed? Ive been under the same situation 4-5years ago
Maybe a firmware reflash would do the job but everything will get deleted so try to backup everything

It's not the apps. From what I've read one of the Trojans, the one in Google framework, is a dropper and reproduces and hides them in legit clean apps. That is why antivirus software doesn't pick them up. I've done at least 100 scan's with every malware finder I can find and this is the first time I have gotten a hit on anything but I know for a fact it's been there for at least 2 years. Everything I know about android whoever this person is taught me. It's almost as if they are a friend because they've directed me to learning about someone close to me who was doing me wrong, taught me everything I know about android and hacking, it's crazy man. I can't explain how they communicate with me all I can say is I will just see it and know. Something highlighted briefly, a random page popping up that directly coorilates with what is happening in my life, but also have tried getting money out of me and removed pictures of my wife from my device. I want to find out if it's someone I know before I remove it. If so, I'm thinking criminal charges and anything else I can do to mess with their life like they have mine. They truly destroyed my life for about 18 months and just now getting everything back together. I don't really talk about it anymore because everyone thought I went crazy but still privately search for the cause and who wmis behind it and yesterday I finally found it. Showed my mother and step son and even with these screenshots they still say I'm crazy and seeing things. Just glad I finally have proof. I can't explain what it's like to have EVERYONE around you saying you are crazy and seeing things that aren't there and knowing you aren't. It really sucks and I wouldn't wish what I've experienced the last couple years on my worst enemy.

You need to utube Beef, it's a exploit that takes over your browser that's started with script embedded in a web page, text, messenger msg, etx. You may confuse it with malware because the attackers will gain the same info if not more by using social engineering.
remove all google accounts from settings, perform a factory reset, create new google account and check Total Virus Scan again.

I don't recommend this as google account is device administrator, anyone knowing that password can remotely install apps
