weird kinda question...
i have a macbook with out a screen (dont ask) literally just a keyboard case and all the guts.
it turns on/receives charge/boots up just fine (from what i can tell).
ive got a lot of stuff on that lil guy.
i also have my inspire 4g (rooted/roms/blah blah).
is there anyway to browse my macbooks files/system files/access data via USB? remember...the mac works...but it only has the keyboard. no screen=i cant tell what im doing.
any help or even just guesses would be great.
cheers
Don't know of such capability using the Inspire but I use my HDTV as external monitor on my MacBook Pro...have you tried some sort of display port adapter?

There is no capabilities to recognize external storage devices other than the sd card. You would need an external monitor as mentioned in previous post.

I recently bought one of these but can't seem to get it working on my tv or laptop. I watched the official htc how-to video and it says to make sure the tv and phone are connected to same wifi. My questions include:
what is the purpose of both being on same wifi if I already have an mhl adapter and hdmi cable connecting my phone and tv?
how do I set this up? And for my laptop?
Do I need a newer tv to do this? My tv is 37" 1080p but doesn't have built-in wifi or anything like that.
I've also heard the term "mhl-capable tv"...how do I know if mine is capable?
Thanks for any help!

Not yet, but can you give me some reasoning as to why that might work? I'll try it out when I get home later

Try plugging your micro-usb cable into the side of the MHL cable. Then plug the AC adapter end into an outlet. You need to be charging your Sensation in order to use the HDMI out.

Ya I did that, and I get the hdmi out icon in my status bar and as soon as I plug it in, my tv detects the new signal but my phone doesn't see the tv cuz its not on same wifi. So my question is why is wifi necessary if its already connected via mhl and hdmi? And also how can I set up the wifi for the tv or do I need an even newer tv to do this?

I dont know why but the restart helped my phone last time I had this issue. Maybe it has to restart that service. Is your phone temp-rooted?

Oh alright, just try to reboot the phone and it should work. I was wondering if you were temp-rooted because that was when I had troubles with my mhl adapter.

Yeah that first part about being on the same WiFi doesn't even make sense. When I got my MHL adapter, I took it over to a friends house plugged it into his TV and it worked like a charm.
I did not have to reset my phone though, I don't know why that would make a difference or not but it can't hurt to try.
I have the mhl + hdmi cable, you don't need a WiFi connection. It just needs to be charging, connected thru the adapter's side, and connected to the TV with the hdmi cable.
BTW there is no WiFi in a place I use it often.

Anyone tried watching an xvid movie on your tv via the MHL adaptor?
If you have, is it working ok?
For me, the quality of the picture is very much depending on which player
I use. The best one that I have tried is "Dice player". But no matter what I do I can´t get any "flow" in the picture. It is always "choppy".
Any suggestions of how to solve it? If it can be solved...

I would like to know if there is an app that makes my phone into a second monitor via USB (bluetooth or wifi). Not a remote desktop, but an actual dual monitor (where i can drag windows between phone and monitor)
Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Also, this app allows you to mount usb storage (or sd card) to your computer/laptop via wifi. Been using it for a while and really like it

Due to the Inspire not having an HDMI port, the answer is NO

It is actually possible. Twonky Server can stream audio, pics and movies over a WiFi network to a compatible device. I use my XBOX 360, I think there is a list of devices on Twonky's website. There is also the option of streaming via DLNA, if you have the hardware for it. I have not tried the latter.

The DNLA streaming works great, I have played around with it but don't have much need for it. If you have the hardware, it's a great option and easy to use.
Hello,
does someone know how to use the Sensation as usb storage?
In Gingerbread that was really easy but this time I cannot find
an option for that.
Thank you

ICS Doesn't really support USB Storage. You have to download Mods.

Hmm, as soon as I connect the phone it pops up and I select storage on the phone. Windows the sees it fine.
I have noticed that the screen must be on at connect time. If it's off, connect, screen on it doesn't show.

Hi there,
Unfortunately I dont have access to broadband at home atm...
Or any form of internet that isn't running through my HTC Sensation...
I'm wondering if I can use my HTC Sensation and the 3G connection and tether it via USB to my Xbox 360...
I only want to download some Skyrim patches, not game online or anything.
Has anyone here ever tried this?
cheers,
T-L-H
I think you need to tether your sensation to your PC then bridge the PC to the Xbox.
Not something I've done but I read about a while back.
Hope that helps.

If you have a usb flash drive then use a program called modio. Here is a quick link on what someone is doing with that program. The theory is there you just need to work through it. I know that I have downloaded System updates to my pc and transferred them to the Xbox hdd. Modding and flashing my Xbox disk drive is my second hobby here is a video/2 videos that you should watch. HERE This was just a quick search and the guy is a dumb ass but again the theory is there. I know you said you don't have a pc. but if your work pc's let you install programs then you should be good to go. Here is another video to watch.HERE WHICH IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR which might be better for you.
