[Q] What drivers do I need to run RUU for HTC sensation on Windows? - HTC Sensation

I am not very familiar with Windows and am having a hard time reverted my Sensation to a TMOUS ROM. I have tried to install the SDK USB Driver and the HTC Sync bundled drivers to no avail. I still get error 170 when trying to install.
What drivers do I need to install (and which do I need to somehow remove) for RUU to run?
I did search through the threads but couldn't find a conclusive answer. I am not a Windows expert, btw.

U need the htc drivers. A quick search on google "htc drivers download" will do the job its an exe. Install and u will be good to go.

I had to download the HTC Sync app, which will install the drivers for the phone, then uninstalling the app will remove everything but the drivers.

Thanks a lot guys, that worked.!

[Q] Need help HTC Incredible

So I've decided I want to root my Incredible. In the process of trying to back up what I have with HTC Sync before I start I've run into 2 issues.
1) when I plug my phone into my computer I get this error message "exception processing message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6b7c 75b6b7e" I have no idea what it means.
2) When I select the htc sync option on my phone it searches to find it on my computer and can never find it. I thought it may be a driver issue so I removed and reinstalled the driver and removed and reinstalled Sync.
Any insite would be greatly apparciated. I'm new to a lot of this and trying to learn what I can so as much info as possible would be great. Thanks guys!
Assuming that you're using Windows, have you had a look in Device Manager to see if the device is being recognised and drivers installed fully?
Perhaps check the HTC site to see if there is a newer version of HTC Sync? If you are running the latest version, perhaps an older version may work better.

[Q] SDK Driver issues

I'm having real problems getting the SDK to work on this for some screenshots. I got it all setup okay as it's working on my Tab and N1 but just can't get it to work with the Chacha.
Anyone got any ideas? I've seen lines of code that have to be added to the driver for other devices but can't find anything for this.
Thanks!
Download HTC Sync from HTC web site. Start the installer, as a requisite it will ask to install some software. One of them is the My HTC drivers, which I guess is the one you have missing (had the issue yesterday).
After installing the requisites, it will ask to install HTC Sync. You can continue, or cancel the installation here, if you don't want to use it.

USB drivers

I've just rooted my Inspire using the Ace Hack kit and installed ARHD.
Are there any USB drivers other than the ones that come with HTC Sync? I don't use the HTC Sync apps at all and prefer not to load Adobe AIR. I just need a USB driver to access to the SD card and internet-passthrough.
I found this "unrevoked universal" driver via Google.
androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/173270-universal-windows-usb-drivers-adb-bootloader-disk-drive-htc-sync.html
Will this work with the Inspire?
Thanks!
uninstall HTC Sync. you dont need the app installed after the drivers are installed from it
Thanks for the speedy reply. I see the BMP driver - do I need this or can it be uninstalled as well?
All the drivers you need should either be in HTC sync or the sdk.

[Q] Windows 8 / HTC Sync problems

Hello @ all,
I installed Windows 8 Pro and am now trying to sync my phone with HTC Sync. I currently use Android Revolution HD 6.8.0. With Windows 7 I had no problems.
What I did:
- install Full HTC Sync
- then I had no connection to my phone, I read in other threads that I have to manually install the Win7 drivers. Then Windows recognized my phone.
- Start Sync
- confugured Sync to sync my contacts and calendar
- then it started to sync and seems to stop after more than 5 minutes syncinc
- I aborted the sync and restarted HTC Sync
- I saw, that my contacts were synced, calendar too
- When I now try to sync once more it starts to sync but after some seconds HTC Sync crashes without any message...
Does someone know where the problem is?
whos using that crap software anyway? get MyPhoneExplorer :good:

You wouldn't believe how long it's taken me to find these! Finally! Worked a charm on Win 8 with the latest version of HTC Sync (which completely failed to install any drivers for the phone!)

Hi,
Unpack the zip to your desktop.
Go into bootloader, then, fastboot and plug in your usb.
On your PC,go into device manager, and click on Android device.
Click update drivers, and browse to desktop.
This might help others, but for me I could only get the bootloader driver to load in a USB 2.0 port. On the USB 3.0 it loaded but had an error every time.

Restore Windows 7 - issue resolved and your PC will thank you.
Solved - easy
Well it looks like HTC are a bit slack packaging all the correct bits for HTC Sync ..
I solved this by..
1. First deleted all the HTC components
2. install the new HTC Sync Manager sw (it has bits that HTC Sync can use, like HTC Driver Installer that will actually install)
3. then installi HTC Sync. (It will figure out what it needs and wont re install bits that got loaded in step2)
4. You may then like to open HTC sync and say OK to the Adobie Air (not esential)
5. Plug in the Phone by USB as usual and it should now find HTC Sync
Good luck, .and hope this helps someone.
ps, My Phone was a Sensation
Someone else may like to figure out what can then be uninstalled from HTC Sync Manager and still allow HTC Sync to keep running???
HTC drivers for Windows 8 are pretty bad right now, I think.

Has anyone managed to get this method working on an incredible s?
Win8 driver installation, no dodgy download method
Guys;
Don't know if this is thread is already outdated, but here is how I got it to work:
Win 8 HTC Drivers without HTC Sync, and getting the driver to install on Win 8.
1. download the latest HTC Sync tool
2. run it - first window sorts out installing prerequisites. Allow this to happen
3. if, like me, you get the '''HTC Driver failed, do you want to continue?''' message, stop there do not click anything
4. In the %temp% user profile area, you will be able to find the source files it just unpacked, including the HTCDriver file.
5. the HTC Driver file for me was HTCDriver_4.0.1.001_20121107.exe. Copy this somewhere else out of this folder.
6. go back to the installer, click no. The files in the %temp% folder will be deleted, which is why we needed step 5.
7. you will find (if you are like me) this exe will not work, it will complain about a transform being missing. Do not click anything, it will sit there.
8. using explorer or CMD.EXE find the file HTCDriver.msi. The EXE unloads that into the %temp% area too. Copy that away somewhere as the exe will remove all the files it deploys when it ends too.
9. run the found MSI file directly.
10. successful driver deployment.
11. Cancel HTC Sync application which you left in step 3 (unless you want it!)
What a bunch of a$$ but it worked this way, without downloading the outdated (and non win8 compatible drivers) from http://www.clockworkmod.com/tether/drivers and from other forums where the driver files are uploaded to other unknown (untrustworthy?) hosting sites.
Good luck!
but they are not working
i have new htc one and i am also new on android.i had an iphone5 and really bored with it anymore.windows 8 is running on my pc..i installed htc sync on my pc and connect my device to computer wirt usb cable but it says doesnt recognize my device.i didnt understand why it is so hard a htc software recognize a htc device, can anyone tell me why it is happening?
You should probably post this in the HTC one forum section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2117
Most of us don't know very much about the HTC one since this is an HTC sensation forum.

[DRIVER] HTC Driver 4.2.0.001 (2013-04-26)

NOTE: This is an older version of the driver, a newer version is available here.
This was pulled directly from the HTC Sync Manager 2.0.61.0 installer.
HTCDriver.exe.part1.rar and HTCDriver.exe.part2.rar are the executable driver installer. The other files are the drivers for the individual platforms.
Note: The last zip is labeled Win2k, but I suspect it is also intended for use with Windows XP.
Note 2: An earlier version of the Windows 7 driver was reported to work with Windows 8, so I suspect that is also the case with this version.
NOTE: This is an older version of the driver, a newer version is available here.
I never seem to see the driver in HTC Sync Manager temp folder, I only see the driver in HTC Sync temp folder which contains HTCDriver_4.0.1.001_20121107.exe which hasn't been updated.

Like the HTC Sync installer, the HTC Sync Manager installer creates temporary folders for the individual components as it installs them, but, unlike the Sync installer, there is no pause after installing the "prerequisite" components before deleting all of the individual installers and starting the Sync Manager install. Also unlike the Sync installer, it there will be a second temporary folder containing "HTC Sync Manager.msi" and other files. This is not the folder where the other components will be extracted.
The trick is to wait until the Sync Manager installer says "Installing HTC Driver Installer" and click Cancel, but don't actually cancel the installation. Just leave it at the "Are you sure...?" dialog. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it will give you time to sift through the %TEMP% folder to find the installer. Also, be sure that you uninstall HTC Driver Installer, if it is already installed, before starting the HTC Sync Manager installer, or this step won't happen, and the HTC Driver installer won't be extracted to a temporary folder during setup. Simply uninstalling HTC Sync Manager will not uninstall HTC Driver Installer.
Also note that the HTC Driver installer will be running during this time, so there will also be a temp folder with HTCDriver.msi and other files. This is not the folder where HTCDriver.exe will be extracted.
This just unbrick my phone....
Am so happy,
Thanks thanks thanks
Any new drivers in latest HTC Sync Manager? setup_2.1.55.0_htc.exe
Thanks for this, the Windows 7 x64 worked perfect. :good:
Ive never had a problem on my previous 2 computers running Win7 but now Ive upgraded to Win8 x64. Since then adb.exe window opens and closes. I can see my phone in the device manager whether Im in the bootloader or fully booted up. Ive followed a few guides to install sdk, jdk, adb but still not able to get adb to fully work. Installed the Win7 x64 usb drivers and google USB drivers manually thru the device manager and they are are all up to date. Ive moved the file folders for everything to the c:\program files directory before I started opening everything up and installing. Ive looked thru other forums for Win8 adb problems and followed those guides and looked on Youtube and done a search on XDA. Most are all the same but I tried them as well.
Im really out of options regarding this problem. Asking for help now. Thanks

Do these drivers work with Desire HD? I'm trying to get fastboot to work, but I'm unable to do so without the proper drivers.

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, there is a new version of the driver, at least in the 2.4.11.0 installer. You can find it here.

It's a newer version of the installer from which the drivers are pulled.
