Why the Galaxy Nexus? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I had a chance yesterday to get a new phone through my carrier and I was looking at the GN, Gs2 and Galaxy Note. I have my g2x right now with my Asus Transformer Prime. I am not quite sure on why I see so many devs jumping to the GN when it doesnt even support a microsd card. I mean if anything the gs2 is quite nice but then I was thinking, why? I love my G2x and I have yet to see anything really over turn it.
I mean my prime yes gets updates frequently (Including ICS) but I dont see a huge difference in speed and true performance on those 4 cores, my g2x is fine and doesnt need replacing yet and I am sadden to see all these wonderful devs jump ship to the GN just for maybe ICS or whatever.
Just letting my thoughts out there!

I like my galaxy nexus because its a great all around device. The camera is bad ass. super amoled screen. 720p screen resolution. Battery life for me has been excellent 24+ hours per charge easy. Mine is the unlocked GSM version so no worrying for carrier updates that will never come.
Not to mention all of my fellow Team Kang members have one. I have had absolutely 0 issues with my gnex. And last but not least! Did I mention its a nexus?

Simple answer would be its a nexus device and the camera and the 720p screen.

Why wouldn't devs jump on it...? It's straight from Google and nothing is closed source. While you have the G2x on the other hand, where nVidia doesn't release anything for their processor.

But as a phone its not mind blowing compared to the g2x. And still it does not have the horse power to really make "Me" switch just yet

OK OK OK I get it! LOL I am going to hold off till the sg3 comes out then!
Nvidia always!

Just looking at their forums and wow! They have like everyone who was on here over there. Well maybe this phone will get some more love once the ota ics comes in 2012 winter or maybe 3012

SGS4 or Nexus S

Im so confused on which one to get. I mean the SGS2 is a vibrant with 4g pretty much? And i dont know if the nexus s has 4g capability? I can get the sgs4 for 139. and the nexus s off best buy for 99. Really want to based this on development. So any info i would appericate it
nexus is best your choice .
Can you give me a more detailed answer as in why? I mean i like the sgs4 cause i always liked the vibrant. But the nexus s does have development. The only thing that scares me is the Internal 16gb which will lead into corrupting if a bad flash is done!
I recently had to make the same decision and had friends with both I borrowed for a week.
The nexus s is amazingly fast. It boots and shuts down in a fraction of the time. It has flash for the camera. It has gps that actually works right out of the box. It has a cooler design and a much more solid feel. It has the nfc that you will probably never use. It has premium support and google ota updates of the newest stuffs. The usb port also has a much nicer feel.
Video playback is poor compared to the vibrant.
It lacks support for most 3d games.
There is no sd card slot
No gorilla glass
I have owned several vibrants and everything that is true for them is true for the sgs4g. The screen is amazing and is protected by gorilla glass. Video playback is second to none. Games play like a dream.
Gps is essentially unusable on most handsets.
The case is cheap feeling and looking.
No flash for camera
I decided video playback and game support was more important than flash and gps but I am upset those are the best choices. You might be wise to just wait for the price to drop on the x2.
Texted While Driving
Im coming from sprint. I had both evo and epic. The evo had great devs, while the epic has little to no support at all. CM7 and MIUI are still in alpha stages. I just dont want the sgs4 to be like the epic. I was looking at the lg gxs or whatever their having alot of issues on the first batch released(bleeding screen, phone wont connect to 3g) Mt4g(feels cheap though) sgs4 or nexus are the only ones i would consider getting.
If I could go back in time I would choose the mt4g rooted with cm7, sgs4g has its benefits like said earlier except I don't use it for movies or gaming I bounce between apps often and fast and the sgs4g would sometimes lag.
So I bought the g2x and while it is wicked fast and extremely strong with already great support for development, the phone has its issues and chooses when the issues will come up, I would just go scan the general thread for the g2x real quick

It seems to me, the SGS4G is slow to get developer support for ROMS and such. That is the only reason I regret owning one. However, after rooting and applying the FOTA fix, it is a cool phone.
From my understanding, phones like the Nexus will have tons of ROMS and customization because they are not tainted by integrations such as Samsung's Touch Wiz and are easier to work with.

Sgs4g I like the video playback but thats just my opinion. Gps is pretty good for me and it is true no dev support on the sgs4g I mean not as much as other phonea so of you are looking to play around with the phone like changing roms and kernels stuff like that I wouldnt recommend unless you dont mind waiting which is my case I dont mind waiting so I dont have any complaints. One last thing it does lag here and there but is not that bad. Really cant say much about nexus s I havent even play with it. G2x was mentioned it is a beast pgone but I went to the g2x forums and there were a los of complaints with the screen you ahould go check it out. Best thing to do is just go to the forums of each device and read about it, comments and complaints and it would help a lot.

I think the sgs4g is the best device I've owned but thats after doing some system tweaks like getting root, freezing some apps, alter minfree to strict settings for better ram handling when swapping applications, changing the disk scheduler to deadline, doing the fota files fix and getting a class 6 micro sd card. After all that this phone has never lag or failed period. But out the box...is fast. Once u have used it for about a week or two thats when you could start seing lag by either apps you have downloaded and new services running in the background not counting the unnecesary ones that were already running when you first get it...gps works flawlesly and so does everything else, but thats after you hack the phone the way you want it...
Up to you though...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
The only reason the Nexus s is any faster is because it came stock with the ext4 file system. Our phones have the same file system as the Vibrant (rfs) It is not efficient, and that is where our lag is coming from.
We will start seeing some ROMS that will have ext4 built into them. When we do get this we will see quad scores around 1700-1800. To give you an idea our phones stock will score around 900. EXT4 ruffly doubles the speeds of the system. Now if you add ext4 with an overclocked kernel. The scores will be around if not higher than 2000.
This phone will be very fast and stable in not to long.
Thanks guys for the help. I went to go play with the following phones today:
g2x- Front looks really nice, and the display showed sharped for lcd. BUT my epic seems faster? and the back of the phone is FUGLY I mean the color, color........color lol! Reminds me of those cheap boost mobile off the wall colors. A case may solve that problem but i wouldnt pay 200 for it knowing how the back looked to me.
g2- Fast little thing, seen the potiental of it on xda, pretty much a better looking sprint htc evo shift 4G. BUT the demo hinge was BARELY on the phone. Soo going have to pass on that looks like a future problem.
mt4g- The best one of the group. Fast, comfortable in hand, light and Fast and xda support helps it there in my book. BUT its looks cheap. I mean how the color contrast clash on the phone. If i got one had to be either be the red one or white one.
sgs4- Some idiot STOLE THE DEMO! soooo i gotta go back tomorrow to look at it!!!
Nexus s- Actually locally a guy was selling one on CL. So i meet him to look at it. the screen is awesome of course cause of the superman screen lol! BUT the phone Looks cheaper than the mt4g!!!! I mean its all plastic and black gloss. Drop it and your gonna be hurting really bad. Also you have to deal with best buy and google since they sell it and tmobile just provides the service. I may sound anal but im a complex thinker and i always think ahead of myself.
Whole day of researching and im still confused and dont know which one to get lol!!!!

I'm a proud owner of a G2x... though some screens have bleeding issues.... mine doesn't... There are plenty of G2x's that are doing just fine, it's just easier to complain.... If you do have issues, you will have a 1 year warranty which means you will be able to switch it when new batches come out and by then issues should have been fixed... Whatever you do BUY THE PHONE IN STORE to test the device... Play with the settings and everything! If you are going to get a phone GET THE BEST there is to offer you and right now that would be the G2x...
SGS4G and Nexus S both have their flaws and are similar devices... The Nexus S isn't 4g capable (if that matters to you)... the SGS4G isn't anything to dazzle over and the Touch Wiz UI isn't my favorite... If you can wait a little longer it may be worth looking at the HTC Sensation...
No offense but i dont see why people rave so much about the sensation. Its a dual core evo 4g. Had two evo 4g when i was with sprint.......Nothing special. Sure it will probably have a bunch of dev support. But to me its not something wanting on for.
But after reading more reviews and seeing on the g2x side. Its not seeming so bad now. Also you have to consider that im coming to tmobile so late while the g2 mt4g and nexus s are kinda old i guess you can say. Even though the g2 and mt4g will get 2.3 but i think thats about it for them as OTA updates.
the Nexus S 4G...on TMO...would be......oh wait...why am I dreaming again
Get teh Samsung Galaxy S4G if you're planning to get a data plan and actually use it
SGS4
Very low internal space, 200MB as apposed to the Vibrants 16G. The phone benchmarks pretty low. But it does have the fastest antenna at 21mbs.
Nexus S
Wow it has a curved screen..... but no SD card support???? Why? Pretty cool but the download speeds will be lower because no 4g support.
If you're looking for the best I suggest the G2x or G2. I personaly use the G2 and it is amazing. But tmo just launched the G2x and it is to die for. Amazing 8MP camera, dual core processor, hdmi out for hdtv support. Get that if anything, the two phones you're deciding between have already been out dated by the G2x.
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
Wait til the Sensation or even better the SGS 2....but wait something will come out better right after...mytouch 4g slide anyone...??
It sounds like the price is a concern of the op.... I say go for the nexus s... the network speed increase with the sgs4g is not enough to overcome the lack of developer support. And its cheaper. Then again... the g2x is your best choice ATM... if you have the $$$.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I had the SGS4G and exchanged it for the G2x and I have no regrets. This phone is amazingly fast and responsive and dev support is already awesome. Within 2 or 3 days the phone had clockworkmod working through ROM manager.
Pretty amazing. Plus Cyanogen, Team Whiskey and others already got the phone and are working on the ROM.
If you still have a choice I say go with the G2x. Dual core is future proof. Just came out, so this phone will probably be good for the next 2 years.
Hope that helps with your decision

Just a tribute to the Captivate...

I can't believe I'm not in a hurry to jump ship to the Galaxy S2. The Cappy has been such a good experience as a phone and it's still able to do whatever I need it to do. When the Fuze came out I couldn't help but be there the first day to pick one up. I was compelled to have the latest and greatest, and the abilities a new smartphone would allow. The same happened the release day of the Captivate.
Sure, it's had its issues (GPS and capped data speeds come to mind) but between the performance of hardware and the constant ROM updates from the dev community, I just don't feel that compulsion to move on from the Captivate. For me it's been a great phone and it's made me a big fan of Samsung's products. Oh I'll get a Galaxy S2 here in a month or two when the price comes down a bit. But I'm still happy with my Captivate and I'll keep it around as a backup.
ditto
i will likely wait until december unless the deal is too good to pass up.
Want to see what develops with the nexus prime.
Some info claims it will be a Verizon Exclusive but i am skeptical. I think that it is more likely we will see it launch exclusively on verizon with a 30-60 window before other carriers get it....so i am not giving up on the prime....the solid metal body construction alone will be worth the wait...just hope ATT gets it.

That is what has my attention as well...Galaxy Note.
I don't feel the need to upgrade from my Captivate either. Its a weird feeling, I use to be such a phone whore, now I look at new phones and feel they can't do a whole lot for me (personally, I know the phones are actually huge upgrades) that my Captivate can't do.
I HATE how ALL of the new phones being announced are so huge! 4.3" isn't TOO bad, but I do prefer my 4" screen. They're just getting bigger too, I want the Nexus Prime so badly, but there's no way I'm getting it with a 4.65" screen. My upgrade isn't until May 2012 and I'm questioning if there will even be a phone out there I like by then.

I'm with you guys. Once the GS II finally came out, I am not as excited. The last ROM I put on is great and until that note comes out, paying 200 for the GS2 isn't so alluring.
Especially with LTE on horizon and the Note, which will be awesome.

The article says 4.6". It may not be so bad since that probably includes the buttons at the bottom, I'll just have to see it in person, but I still think it will be a very large device.
I'm a captivate owner and I really love it. I will not change it in a while..
The only two things that I don't really like in Captivate are very bad sensitive buttons (well, I replaced screen after it was broken, and than buttons were like that) and very bad battery life, especially with MIUI
But speed and functionality are just grear. And still love the screen with maximum brightness. I think I will buy Galaxy Note or Nexus Prime, will see...
I'm with you guys, but not by choice. I have a contract to fulfil.

I'll also be waiting for the Note.
I just looked up the Galaxy Note. Wow...! That thing looks amazing. It might be just a bit too big but I'm really considering jumping on that.
I'm with you guys. There is no real reason to upgrade just yet. With a good custom ROM (Cog5), it does everything I ask of it, and does it quickly. The screen is just amazing, and only the SAMOLED Plus beats it, if you ask me. Since I'm not on contract, I can switch when I want, but I see nothing out there I just gotta have. The Prime may change that, but if it is CDMA, then I'm out. Big Red is too expensive for my blood.

The Nexus S 4G (which wasn't really different), so I did do a bit of keyboard-in-mouth, for a minute there I did forget the Nexus S came out on T-Mobile first. Tired.
I came from the Nexus One, bought the G2x off-contract, specically to be able to pick up the Nexus Prime at a discount.
I just hope the nexus prime won't disappoint. Rumors on specs are mixed. The qualcomm chips in the Tmo SG2 and Amaze are meh. Also 5mp camera is meh.... other specs say it'll have the Exynos chipset and 8mp cam. Some say Verizon will get it first others say T-Mobile. Verizon has the Droid Prime with similar specs already and aren't ones to keep it clean with Android.
Either way, if the specs are worthwhile over the G2x, I'll grab it.
Best solution for me personally would be Verizon with sweet specs as my old work blackberry needs upgraded and I set up our new exchange to work properly so my company is allowing Android sets now... meaning I can kill my $70 personal T-Mobile line, sell my G2x and profit.
LG G2x - 2.3.5 MIUI

I honestly don't think it's that much of an upgrade of our G2x's. Our phone is still up to par with alot of the phones out there now.. Once we get ICS on this thing, we should be fine.

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I know everyone wants the latest and greatest, but sometimes it's a bit overkill. Unless you have a good job with 500+ bucks to throw I don't see why we should be running to get the Prime when you already have a Tegra 2 Dual core device. Nothing can even tough this device yet.
It'd be hard for me to dump my dual core device for another dual core. At this point might as well wait for whatever the next gen quads come out next year. And once that happens, I don't even know what we'd do with a quad core lol.
Well... We'd buy more batteries, of course.

Lol, I seriously think they should just take a break on the progression of processors, screens, GPU's, etc. and use that time and man power in advancing the technology of battery's... That's literally the only Achilles heel that even the best smartphone's have these days.
At this point, I'd rather have the creation of a 5,000 mAH battery with out changing it's size than a quad core processor.

Agreed ten fold. I'm waiting til the Nexus Double Prime before I plan to upgrade. This phone is doing just fine, and has a very nice set of developers working on it for us.
If they did make quad core phones, I bet the battery life would be at least 20% worse than now. When I'm not even getting super amazing battery life to begin with, it might be a problem.

Yeah, main difference between the two will be updates. Something the G2X will probably never officially see. After the half ass 2.3 update we got I'm pretty much over it.
....
I really don't see the point of quad core phones; unless Google does something unbelievable with Jelly Bean that needs an insane amount of processing, nothing a smartphone does needs that much. Hell, dual core isn't even that necessary unless you run a lot of 3D stuff.
There is such a thing as overkill people. I'd like to see phone manufactorers declare the smartphone as it exists now finished and start working on some new innovations that would make better hardware necessary. 3D screen ala Nintendo 3DS with FFC capable of eye-tracking to orient the 3D so you see it at any angle?
While I agree that the G2x can hold its own, I do miss owning a nexus device. My friend still has his Nexus One and running official software we can only get via custom roms.
My reasoning to grabbing the Nexus Prime IF if launches on Verizon is so my work can pay for it. Unfortunately I heard Verizon is launching the Galaxy Prime.... which is similar but not the nexus prime backed by Google.
Well just have to wait until Tuesday. All the rumors running around its hard to make any reasonable decision.
If Verizon gets gimped on Google support then I'll keep my G2x for a long while.

Well the sgs2 is average 350+ and they claim it's "like new" or "used for only one week" which I find hard to believe. and the lg g2x average 200+ and I have a pre paid plan from t mobile and love it so I wouldn't be able to get the sgs3 sadly (that phone looks so sexy ) and yes the HTC one s I could most likely get but the people I've talked to about their sgs2 say the the sgs2 is better (I don't see how ) and they use that as their means for being firm about their price. If I could go back in time, I would wait a week for the SII. It came out a week right after I got the G2x. Stock, I found the G2x to be nearly unbearable. Rooted with custom ROMs, it's good. Not sure how the development community is for the SII, but I'd still probably pick it over the G2x

I just ordered a gently used G2x on ebay (they go around $200, depending on condition). This is a good value for the specs. The Galaxy S2 is $350+, which gets into a new Galaxy Nexus territory. From what I've researched, custom ROMs like CM7 should be pretty stable and fully functional, most of the problems with the G2x are software anyway. Only hardware issue is the camera dust under cover, which I plan to remedy by putting a clear tape over the LED flash, which I normally don't use anyway.
Also LG already announced ICS for Optimus 2X (international version), it's just delayed again to 3rd quarter, once that is out, one of the major problems with current CM9 ROMs should be resolved (no video acceleration or recording).
Speaking from experience, I have both phones.
GS2 wins for stability, just works, and has a better camera than the LG G2X. But..... personally I'm not thrilled with the GS2 device for the sheer size.
I've used G2X for almost a year. You just have to find a ROM you can live with and make tweaks so that it won't freeze/crash while charging. Other than that, phone is solid. CM7 was best ROM and overall performance. Stock gave best battery but I can't stand STOCK ROMs.
But the biggest reason I really switched to the GS2 was sick of the random crazy battery life and the GPS never working when I need it for emergencies.
I made the mistake of not test driving the GS2 on T-mobile store to get a better feel. Big screen with low resolution is what pisses me off, on top of the fact that the size of the phone isn't friendly to my small hands. If I overlook those two flaws, sure its awesome phone.
Also, the T989 just doesn't have a variety of ROMS available and have to wait for the official release from Tmobile, CM7 isn't reliable for it (I love CM7), and has no CM9 love yet.
I might overlook the negatives I have if Dev for T989 picked up. Until then, it works, reliable, and no headaches.

Can't use the baseband if you want a nice, custom ROM, though.

True. Check out swappa or look around for deals. I don't think you will find if you plan on going prepaid.

I own a G2X, my buddy has a Sgs2 an I would not trade him dead even! The G2X is resilient and easily customizable. Dev support for the G2X is 50 to 1 compared to the Sgs2. I have (and still do) flashed numerous Roms and Kernels to my phone with little or no issue. He bricked his rather quickly. He got his second one and asked me to root and customize - which I did. I was astonished at how little there was to look at / choose from in the Samsung forums here.
bang for your buck? +1 for the G2X
better screen and lots more $$$, go for the s2.
my two pennies.

You must be talking about T-Mobile GS2. SGS2 international is one of the best supported devices out there, has official ICS + fully functional CM9.
Sweet, love all the input guys!! Really giving me a lot to work with and make my decision harder xD
I have a few questions, I found an SGS2 CM7 ROM that lists everything as working. And i too love CM7 waiting for AOKP or CM9 to obtain all the awesome features that CM7 has then i'll make the swap.
From what you guys posted it seems like the G2X has better stability and development. And yes i am talking about the SGH-T989 i cannot use the international version on T-Mobile as it doesnt support the 1700mhz frequency so i wont get 3G.
I am really liking the SGS2 ive been on youtube looking at different videos and it looks pretty awesome. Plus the super amoled display is stunning. Also, to the person who commented on the SGS2 having a lower resolution, what exactly do you mean? Are you saying the 800x400 is too small for the size? The screen is only .2 inches bigger than my HD2 which has the same resolution and i dont see it a problem. I might get the SGS2, i do really like the Amoled display. Ugh decisions decisions xD
Thanks all for the awesome information!
Got another question, 7o both phones support more than two finger multi touch?

Last day with a G2X

Had it since January. Want a better quality screen (resolution-wise) and camera. Other than that, HellFire was awesome to me for the most part. The most recent ICS issues with data drops really bugged me too. GPS locks were never instant, but decent - another slight nuisance. I figure for $100-$150 more a Galaxy Nexus is worth it to me at this point, or something comparable. Actually if the LG Optimus 4G LTE works for me on WIND mobile that could be a good buy for only like $50 more. I just don't know if data will be 2G speeds or not. Yet to find out. If anyone knows that and sees this message, please do respond. It's been fun, this was my first Android. Got to really figure out a lot of stuff, since with this device our support basically is the XDA forums as LG doesn't help us any. Can't believe how bad the stock ROMs are for this device. Incredible they'd even release a device with those ROMs. Anyway, selling it today and then shopping for a new Android. Likely a Galaxy Nexus at this point. Please advise if there are other options! Thanks to xoxhell and all the other developers for this device.
update to stock 2.3.4 will fix all the problem you listed
Due to my experience with this phone and lack of support from LG, I am done buying any LG products in the future. This could have been a great phone had LG just given the community development teams what they needed from the start. Do you think the experience will be any different for other LG products? I don't.

By the way, I got my girlfriend a galaxy nexus for her birthday and that is an awesome phone. You can't go wrong there.

I know how you feel. Think I might use my HD2 with a WP7 ROM on it... then jump to the galaxy s3 when/if it gets here...
Hate how LG/Nvidia/T-Mobile/whoever really made this phone one of the least desirable devices when it has so much potential...

Fully aware of this. HellFire 2.2 even is great and a rock solid ROM with no issues. But, I don't really want to run Gingerbread. For $100 more I'd rather get a phone with a much nicer screen resolution and quality (bigger screen size is a minor plus as well) and a phone I don't have to worry about ICS issues with. The support for this phone is crap, let's all face it. I will miss this phone, mainly cuz it was my first Android and I had fun learning how to use Titanium effectively, how to switch between ROMs, etc (since these are absolute necessities with this phone), but man I will not miss the little nuisances I constantly had with this phone because of LG's terrible support.
And yeah, I briefly looked at the 4G LTE but when it comes down to it... the support will be garbage as well. Great quality screen, but same old terrible LG support. Galaxy Nexus it most likely will be...
My daughter's G2X was stolen at school and I was thinking about giving her my G2X and getting a Galaxy Nexus. I don't know if its really worth it. 130 for another G2X or 400 for a Nexus with ICS that always gets updates.
MIUI = WIFI calling does not work which I rarely use.
CM7 = Phone freezes while unless I use faux and setcpu to down clock while screen is off but the battery life is amazing.
Weapon G2X = no T9 dialer unless I download one and use notigo to clear missed calls.
ICS = no drivers
Galaxy Nexus has working ICS with T9 dialer but no wifi calling.
I have some thinking to do.

Sold my g2x to t-mobile for their deal and got 100 towards a trade up... Switched over to the galaxy s2 and couldnt be happier. My g2x had some scratches on the bezel and a screen scratch so it was a good value deal. Just happy to have something that will get ics and.... Everything actually works consistently. Loved the g2x as a first android but it was underutilized unfortunately.

One of the best things about the G2X is the size... it is a very compact phone.
That is why im staying with mine for now...I use it as a cheap wifi hotspot in my van and takes up no space...
All the issues ive had in the past have gone away since ive updated the baseband last week...GPS is amazing and everything else has been flawless with the stock, rooted kwes rom...

It could have been smaller if they didn't make such a ridiculously large bezel at the bottom of the G2x. So much wasted space. O_O

That's ALL manufactures in the US when it comes to updates. I had the Vibrant before this and it was quickly forgotten about by Samsung. If I don't like the nexus when I'm ready to upgrade my phone I'll be done with android due to the poor software updates.

Put these phones side by side and don't really notice a difference size wise at all, despite the Galaxy Nexus having the bigger screen. And I saw this new baseband, any ICS support yet? Don't really care either way. Same old stuff with the LG phone, having to constantly hack and update it to it's wannabe Galaxy Nexus status yet it will never happen. The extra $100-$150 for the GN is worth it to me. I totally understand how it's not for some people. Although, I would think if you know enough about phones to even know about the XDA forums then IMO it probably also would be worth the extra money to you to get a GN. That's just my thoughts. Also, the screen resolution and screen quality is considerably better on the GN.
I've been there, that was me, trying to defend the LG Optimus P999. But I gave up defending it, time to switch. I was in denial long enough lol. Well that, and money was an issue for me a few months back...

The difference is that most manufacturers at least release a working rom while being tight arses about community support. LG didn't release a decent rom until well after a year from release, and it's already outdated.
You can't go wrong with the galaxy nexus... I want one now. The only "flaw" is that there's no more mass storage device support in ICS. I use Linux, so I either use my network drive over smb or adb to transfer files. Windows works fine though.

As bitter as I sound about the LG Optimus P999, I would say it is an outstanding value phone. Throw on HellFire 2.2 based on Gingerbread and this thing is super snappy and runs great. It's when you're trying to have the latest and greatest as far as software goes... this thing really pisses you right off.
I did it. I ordered one. I'll still have 3 g2x's in the house.

I got a sgs2 and really like it. No official ics but it's awesome even on GB. Still have a g2x around as a backup and I like that phone too. Updated baseband worked really well.

Yeah, I'm getting my GN today but still have 3 friends or family that have the G2X and IMO that is like the perfect phone for them still because of valueerformance and them not being techie's not caring about the latest and greatest. Sounds like this baseband is far along enough to go with now. I shyed away when I still had my G2X, mainly because it limited what ROMs you could put on. Can you put on HellFire 2.2 with the new baseband or any ICS ROMs yet? I'll still be monitoring the xda G2X forums as my friends and family still own it.
