No. ICS is Googles Android OS. CM9 is a modded version of it.
ics simply refers to android version 4.0. Cm9 is based off of android 4.0 aosp but has many added features and tweaks.
Just like cm7 is based off of android 2.3 (gingerbread) aosp.

I think his question is really what is the difference between the two. Which right now I don't think there is much. I think it's just about porting and getting everything working. Maybe there is some small optimizations done but nothing heavy. I think cyanogenmod is working on adding features as we speak and will most likely release a big beta with all of them implemented vs small amounts being added over time

Probably the coolest one in the works is the ability to root and unroot your phone via settings. The new music app is nice too. There's a lot being added every week. Its not complete or even close to being but it is looking awesome.

So I suppose this might be getting a little off topic but what is the point being able to root/unroot via settings?

I'll prob use the OTA debloated/tweaked ICS build that is going to be developed regardless

Uh wut? Nexus ICS alphas have been floating around for weeks.
The evo is always going to have more roms available at any given time, since there's a ton of devs working on that phone... And more options because of Sense.
First of all the things we have are sdk ports so they don't count. Second I would rather have a rom with half busted stuff than nothing like we do now. Wahh it sucks.

I don't think that someone has a decent working ICS right now.
But come on, don't start a ton of new threads just to aks why there's no ics. I know it's exciting but after all it's just ICS xD
And it's just a max. of 1 month waiting time 'till the ota gets out. I would go so far to say that no one of us will die from waiting
Max one month is a huge overstatement. It will be a miracle on xda street if we get an ota in a month. Mark my words.

Depends on taste......CM7 i think has better performance, but Miui is the must have anyone that loves to customize there phone. it lets you change everything piece by piece but it has no app drawer unless you use a launcher to get it back otherwise all your apps will just be on the front pages.
there both great, but cm7 still has my vote on sheer smoothness and tweaks. but again i loved "ee"'s themes for Miui so who knows

It is very "iPhonish" when you first use MIUI; throw a lancher on it, though, and it's back to business as usual. Very slick, very smooth, very customizable (if that's a word). Oh, and it's based on CM 7.1 sources. I've tried all sorts of ROMs on my Inspire, but I always end up going back to MIUI, it's just too damn nice. Getting a SR soon, and I'd love to see a MIUI build for it.

I agree with this. Almost every aspect of MIUI is iPhone ripped. Throwing a launcher over top of it kind defeats the purpose of MIUI (IMHO).
I have used MIUI and it had horrible battery life, right up there with CM7. Personally I would never use MIUI or CM7 ever again (on one of my phones).
That being said
I have MIUI on my daughters phone because she loves the iPhone and since I am giving her my Captivate for Christmas and she really wants an iPhone, I decided to put MIUI on it to ease the pain. LOL
agreed,
women seem to love miui though......hence why i am trying to put it on my old cappy to give to my GF.
but am having issues with the drivers.
i dont mind CM7, with the right kernel the battery drain is not that bad......but yes it can get annoying to have plug your up to the wall every couple hours as a preemptive strike on your phone dying.

not whining just don't like ics lots of bugs and glitches. other roms are boring and dull not creative. people aren't that intelligent as they pass themselves off to be.

Hey guys, I recently went into Verizon and played with the galaxy nexus. Its a nice phone, but what's so fantastic about ICS? I thought it was too dark, and really slow (at least the display model was). I've used sky-ics rom and I had to go back to StockMod.
So why exactly does everyone want it and ask about it? Personally I prefer touchwiz, its a lot more intuitive. The biggest difference I saw was the widgets displayed in the launched and the recent app tray thing. But its not like a game changer.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but just curious.

as much as I don't want to hijack this thread (even though this thread is almost pointless considering there isn't very many ports off cameras for our phone.) I'm not sure I agree with that one SadPanda... Build quality I prefer HTC they have a good group of devs, including a fully functioning ICS build. I've played with an amaze 4g rooted running a CM7 and compared it to mine (it wasn't overclocked just 1.5) mine was overclocked to 1.4, I think, it might have been up to 1.56... either way just regular use for me and my friend (no games) no big difference at all, if anything the amaze was faster with browser and loading things that required data since it is HSPA+.... next to each other he reaches 18mb down I got 12mb barely. Overall the Amaze is better IMO... I've been trying to sell my G2X for a descent price so I could the Amaze but no one will go for it lol.

They are both great devices, the Amaze may be a better build but thats really only because its newer.
