glorious overdose charging issue - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Hey, first of all great rom runs so much better than kj2. The issue I am having is that most the time sense I installed the rom my phone won't charge 80% of the time unless I restart, and when it does charge takes about 30 secs, but again that's only about 20% of the time. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Delete battery stats via CWM after you "fully" charge the phone to the maximum it will charge.
That may be of some help.

That wont work at all....
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460553

maybe it is your charger because when i use that rom i can charge completely....email/pm the OP dev for that rom about it they will have more answers about their own rom than any other person

Mine was stuck at "18%" when I first flashed Glorious Overdose v2. I used battery calibration and it fully charged to "100%", recalibrated battery again and seems to work fine for me.

It depends what type... I know one where you'd almost have to drain it but not all the way then fully charge it would make the battery life longer than having its life cut short.....

Try this technique which I used on SE XPERIA X10:
Charged the phone to 100% and while still plugged to the charger remove the battery wait 5 seconds put the battery back unplug the phone switch it back on and plug back into the charger. Ur battery should now show 88% charge not 100%. will wipe the battery stats as well when I will fully charge to see if it makes a difference.
Need to fully discharge the battery at least once a month until the phone off .. then you load up to 100%, and doing what was said above, remove the battery, and turns the charge again for up to 100%

In spite of reading a bit one sees immediately
A simpler way is just to use Battery Calibration app, it can be found on the market.
Is it a bad thing to charge the battery at 50% still?

Hi,
As far as I'm aware,it needs to be cycled three, maybe four times before it settles down.
Keep charging and discharging to get the benefit.
The other thing of course is,how much do you use it,and what are you running on your phone?
Lol I know I am not using it that much. Thanks so much for the response

Watch for auto sync applications, I had an issue with an app that was just constantly connected and syncing and kept the phone awake, phone died in less than 7 hours, disabled sync for that app, and now I get plenty of life out of it. The above guy is right though, you do need to do several cycles of fully discharge, fully recharge (and by fully discharge I mean the phone should not respond to the power button, it should be completely dead, and by fully charge, you should leave it on the charger for at least an hour, maybe two, past the green light to ensure it really is fully charged.)

[Q] Battery Half Charging

Alright so it's difficult to explain this fully but I'll try. I came across battery calibration information and I went ahead and wiped the stats. I then let it drain, charge full then drain again. Now as it was charging I decided to flash another ROM, done. So that ROM took a while to fully charge but when it did I got 13hrs of battery life out of it. Now when I charge it, pretty much it stays around 50% and wo't bump higher. Literally haven't hit higher after leaving it plugged for more than 3 hours. Anyways I'm about to flash a update of said ROM and use a different kernel that is know to be more stable. But curious if there is hope for my battery? I don't plan on wiping battery stats anymore, after further readings I see it's not worth the trouble.

[Q] Power Issue.. Please Help!

Hi all,
There's this problem with my phone that everytime I charge it, it takes an elongated time to do so. This issue first emerged when I was on stock GB after a minor OTA update which added the power saver toggle to the quick settings menu..The problem is that it takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the phone, and if I rebooted in the middle of charging when it's about 70% or 80%, it suddenly shows that the phone is fully charged, and the indicator becomes green! But afterwards the battery drains as quickly!
Now I have S-Off and using ARHD 6.6.3 ROM, but it seems the problem persists ..I wiped battery stats as soon as I flashed the ROM as well..Although it's not a problem I cannot live with, it's annoying enough when it happens.
Can someone please help me? And suggest me what to do?

its common thing...the battery calibration is not proper that's all...
also you need to wipe stats once you charge your phone to 100%
then battery will try to calibrate ...and after 3-4 full complete cycles (100-0 and 0-100)
the battery will settle..
the battery drain will be there ...whenever you flash a rom or flash a kernel....battery only settles atleast after 2 full cycles
EDIT: also download currentwidget from market..as the name says its a widget..so you will see it in widgets once you installed it...this will give you more proper reading of battery...when you plug your phone to charge...and when current widget reads 0mah then your battery is charged completely...(it might take a long time to read 0mah...but charge it until you see 0mah)..then wipe the battery stats...so after this battery calibration will be proper
Also the sudden jump of battery percentage is due to improper battery calibration
so dont worry you got no problem
So
I read somewhere that you are not supposed to let the phone go to zero because it could cause your phone to not power back on anymore..is this fact. I couldn't find where I read it to back and read again. Mine has been doing some weird things as well...the led turns green before it is 100% and it goes from 100% and drops to like 89% out of no where.

when i meant 100%-0% means until your phone turns off due to less power..it might not(or won't be) be 0% then
as i told you that kind of jumps are common ...in my case it went to 60% to 100% when i rebooted ...also the dropping used to be in large scale too

Battery Problems

Yesturday night I flashed the 4ext recovery, hboot version 1.49.0007, OPPA GANGNAM rom and GAAPS 4.1.
Right after that I calibrated my battery by using it until 1% and then charged it all night. When I woke up it was only at 99% and it wouldnt go higher. Now it only charges up to 92% and the green LED opens to tell me the battery is fully charged... What did I do wrong... Why can't my device charge higher. What can I do to fix this?

There's no fix for this. It's the general android behavior to prevent overcharging batteries. One thing that works on some phones is to charge your phone when it's shut down, it should reach 100% but that's just cosmetic.
Battery guides and how to extend the battery life explain this behavior with more details.
