[Q] Latest Galaxy S2 UK Generic Firmware - General Questions and Answers

Hi folks, after reading these forums for the past few weeks I finally debranded my Vodafone SGS2. However, I have some questions.
1) What is the latest UK Generic firmware? I installed what I though was the latest UK XEU firmware, but the phone is now running Android 2.3.4 instead of the 2.3.5 version it had previously with the Vodafone firmware.
2) I was under the impression that after installing a stock generic firmware, I would be able to update OTA or with Kies. Is this wrong? I certainly cant get mine to update past 2.3.4
3) Can you please look at my details and see what i've done wrong?
Thanks in advance folks

Please help, I'm totally out of my depth here. I've read all the guides but cant find any definitive answers. All I want is an unbranded phone that is running the latest firmware and is upgradable via Kies.

I'd also like to know what the latest undranded UK S2 ROM is. I've just got one simfree from carphone warehouse and it's on 2.3.4. My friend has one on Orange network and he's on 2.3.5! Tried to update via KIES but says I'm on the latest version.
Thanks

[Q] restoring i5800 to original spec

Hi
I have Samsung galaxy Apollo I5800 brought from Carphone warehouse U.K. last year. Its a Unlock phone. I want to downgrade to eclair (2.1 update1)
below is Phone info i want to restore it to based upon research i have done.
Firmware Version 2.1-Update 1
baseband version I5800XXJG3
kernel Version 2.6.29
[email protected] 32
build No
ECLAIR.XXJG7
PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)
current firmware version: PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)
latest firmware version: PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)
trouble being i can only find the eclair.xxjg6. do anyone know where i can find xxjg7 as it is not on sammobile.com
As far as im aware, all the firmware on samfirmware is "official" release from samsung. flashing any eclair firmware should do the trick, just make sure its for your region. or as said just flash a froyo firmware with odin. kies isnt brilliant anyway. when i had eclair and before id modded my phone at all i searched for updates and it told me i was updated. despite froyo being out for a year!
problem with samfirmware is most of it does not work with kies. the ones that do are for france spain slovenia and italy
Just flash it via Odin.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA
if i install a spanish kies working version will that work in UK as it is still a EU version?

I wouldn't hold your breath, still waiting for ANY official JB for our P6810 model.....
In the meantime, would advise to just manually update your device with Odin. I believe DXMD3 has most SE Asia languages, including Chinese and English. There are Odin guides in this forum and elsewhere in XDA and firmware from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com

Not sure if I get your problem. For the HK model you can use the Singapore official JB version.
Model: GT-P6800
Country: Singapore
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: N/A
Build date: N/A
Product Code: XSP
PDA: P6800DXMD3
CSC: P6800OLBMD3
MODEM: P6800DXMD3
There are actually 4 different versions on Sammobile for download.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=14438
I used one of the carrier free ones. Runs fine, smooth and stable. Big improvement over 4.0.4 ICS.
It comes with all Asian languages (Thai, Chinese, whatever). So it should suffice for any HK device.
Yes.. you can update it with the singapore rom. this is what ive done. Ive downloaded the singapore rom and Ive flashed it on my tablet... and it is working fine. Absolutely no problem.
If that was not clear from my post... I run the Singapore Version (DXMD3) too - for a few months now.
Best official ROM so far for me, recommended.

New Firmware 5.0 N9005XXUGPOF3 NEE (Nordic Countries)

Hey,
There is a new firmware 5.0 for our Note 3 : N9005XXUGPOF3
CSC : NEE
Anyone has tried it ?
Changelist is lower than the KSA Version
PDA: N9005XXUGPOF3 CSC: N9005NEEGPOF3 CHANGELIST: 4935104 BUILD DATE: 17.06.2015
PDA: N9005XXUGBOEA CSC: N9005OJVGBOE4 CHANGELIST: 5020004 BUILD DATE: 29.05.2015
Yea but it's builed after BOEA (KSA)
Changelist is more important, not the build date!!!
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk
And this is lower- changelist
I've seen several official roms released with different rom and kernel filesizes and with same changelist.
Highest changelist may not be the latest version of Android, if the required changes are for specific countries only.
I need the Modem and Bootloader from this rom please.
There is a newer one (higher changelist) and is latest Brazilian's one (see screenshot)
I installed the new firmware. N9005XXUGPOF3_N9005NEEGPOF3_NEE
first impression:
* stable
* google applications have been updated to the latest version
I do not care changelog number.
it's just a number and i don't know what criteria is placed.
I watch the build data and this firmware is the latest. ( Build date : Wed, 17 Jun 2015 09:30:11 +0000 )
Do you know if I can downgrade from this rom to Kitkat ?
Does this update get rid of the delay while clearing recent apps? Heard the last Indian update for Exynos units solved the problem (or at least minimised it), so wondering whether this one does that or not.
Unified Daemon bug is still in this Rom... :/
Are you sure about the Unified Daemon bug? I installed the Nordic ROM two days ago, and usage only shows 17KB. Fair enough on the first day battery drain was fast, but it seems to be settling down and has now lasted longer. Pulled it off charge this morning and after four hours of emailing, surfing, and watching a Netflix movie battery is at 90%.
And for devilsdouble , yes it does get rid of the delay clearing recent apps. I found that annoying too.

Exactly. It's pointless to think that Samsung would build something later in time with a lower changelist. The only difference in changelist is different region, or Carrier implementations. XXU (Europe, or EMEA in a way) has most of the attention, i've always noticed changelist number differences with the Americas version (Brazil, and mostly South America) and also the Asian ones (Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore and Honk-Kong). All that means is that Samsung has split this in to three pools of maintenance who seem to merge once in a while.
Basically i think it's useless to compare the changelist from different regions, for the sake of Modem/Baseband/CSC compatibility, i'd always go with the region your phone is made for initially.
EDIT: anyone got a mirror yet?
I've recieved an official update on my Note3, now my baseband /bootloader /pda/ is N9005XXUGPOF3, while the CSC is N9005NEEGPOF3. I live in Italy
The phone is still stable and smooth, but the battery leakage is crazy.
I would like to root the phone and install twrp to put on some custom rom. Does anybody know if and how I can do it?
I was checking about chainfire root method and i have to choose one of those too,
SM-N9005 (International Qualcomm): CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
(only works on 4.4 bootloaders, if you're still on 4.3 use the old version which you can find here:...)
Which is my bootloader version at this time?
Can I use safely the 4.4 bootloader version?
How should i procede to root the phone?
Why starting a new thread when there's already one?
Search before post!

Guys,
I am using a ZTO ROM (Brazil) but I am willing to use a Nordic ROM. Is it safe to try it? I mean, there any difference about partitions or baseband that I gonna have difficulties to come back to ZTO anytime?

Can I install other official SM-G920F builds?

Hello people.
This is definitely a very noob question, but I don't want to mess anything up. I've rooted and installed a custom rom on my S4 mini, but otherwise I have not much past experience.
The details of my S6 as it is currently are below:
Model number
SM-G920F
Android Version
5.1.1
Baseband version
G920FXXU3COI9
Kernel version
3.10.61-S6_UniKernel_v2-0003_rb
[email protected] #2
Sun Jun 28 13:01:53 BST 2015
Build number
LMY47X.G920FXXU3QOJ5
I'd like to install a Marshmellow stock S6 build on my S6, particularly, the UK Vodafone build as of 03-03-2016 on sammobile dot com.
I noticed that the PDA for the UK Vodafone 6.0.1 build on sammobile dot COM is G920FXXU3DPB8 and the CSC is G920FVFG3DPB8.
Will I be able to flash this ROM successfully without compromising any of the functionality of my phone and be able to use all functions? I am in South Africa.
What are the things that I need to be careful of when trying to install builds on my phone (to ensure full functionality)?
Thanks if you can help!
You can install any SM-G920F official ROMs to your device.
I prefer to use ROMs with SER CSC code.

Thanks for your reply!
Would my device still work correctly with my local carrier if I installed the UK Vodafone 6.0.1 ROM?

Of course.
I'd suggest flashing BTU or XEU for UK devices

OTA update for BTU trying to install an O2 ROM

Howdy.
I am on BTU firmware PDA: g930fxxs1dqgk, released 7-26-2017
My phone is now asking me to upgrade OTA to PDA: g930fxxu1dqg1, released 7-20-2017 which google tells me is an O2 firmware from the UK.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior? seems like a mistake. Why is it asking me to install a O2 firmware on my unbranded UK phone? weird.

Mine just installed that on my BTU phone.

First result googling that ROM PDA brings up sammobile saying it is for BTU
You're not gonna get an o2 update on a BTU ROM

I see what happened. When you search "g930fxxu1dqg1" with startpage, different CSC versions pop up, including O2, so I thought this was an O2 firmware (multiCSC ROM). The confusing thing to me was that this has a build date previous to that of the OTA update I did on 8-3-2017:
PDA: g930fxxs1dqgk
CSC: g930foxa1dqd7
BASEBAND: g930fxxu1dqd7
- 29.94MB
- security update to July 1,2017
- build date 7-12-2017
The new fw is:
PDA: g930fxxu1dqg1
CSC: g930foxa1dqg1
BASEBAND: g930fxxu1dqd7
- 268.03MB
- security update to July 1,2017
- build date 7-2-2017
Anyway, weird to be out of order as far as build date.
Also, anywhere to see the changelist for these ROMs? I'm sure I won't understand a goddamn thing in there, but would be interesting to see. I could not find results with google.....
