I did not know where to post this..
So i know for a fact that we can now root the phone. I rooted my Marquee, but When i try to flash a new Rom that someone else has done. When I hold down Power button and volume down i go into menu. My options are
1.reboot phone now
2. apply update from SD Card
3. Factory Data Reset
4. Clear Cache partitions
When i put the rom on my Sd card and click update the rom it says
failed to open /sdcard/update.zip
manual select menu
E:Cant update using GingerSteem1.0.zip
Install from sdcard complete
Please help me am i doing something wrong? or do i need to change the file name to update.zip?

Hi, i used PIMbackup and im done backup, but i've got just files with "menc" extension. What can i do to restore them?? any solutions?? i don't know where is general file for example "pimbackup170209.pim" ;(( i can't find that...
the "pimbackup" program has a built in restore function
select "restore" and then locate the file you created when you backed it up
It then asks a couple of questions and restores your contacts and stuff
The menc extension means, that the backup can only be done on the original phone. If the original phone has done a hardware reset, the menc file is useless. Basically it's a data protection feature.

1) Copy the rom to your phone.
2) Boot into Red recovery ( hold both volume keys and power button ) release when you see Samsung.
3) Scroll down to where it says Wipe data ( push power button to select )
4) Scroll down to where it says Wipe cache ( push power button to select )
5) Scroll down to where it says Install Zip from ( push power button to select )
6) Same this on the next screen, but select Choose zip, now you can browse to where you saved the ROM.
7) Scroll and select the Rom.
I have a 7" tablet from China, after first use, it hangs at the start screen, shows only 'android' and won't move on.
how can i get ride of this? do I need to flush it?
if needed, can I just download android 2.3.4 package unzip to root folder of sd card and slot in?
so does the official android 2.3.4 package working with every android tablet?

No there are driver dependencies that need to be worked out. This is one of the main prob with china based devices as they state they have a certain hardware but turn out not to and don't use an official version of the OS running. I would get ahold of who you bought it from.
the brand is sansui g1000. check round online, the reputation is not that bad,
but just bought today and try to restart and it hangs at android logo screen.
First I want to appologize because I'm sure somewhere this problem has been solved. My search skill are less than great so I was not able to find the answer or even the problem before so here we go....I rooted my atrix using Pete's Motorola Root Tools and everything worked perfectly. Then without thinking I updated the phone to 2.3.6 from I believe 2.3.4 (I didn't pay attention like I should have). After the update I am no longer able to get to any of the hidden apps. They are still there installed it's like the SU function isnt working anymore.
I tried using Pete's tool to unroot the phone hoping that I'd be able to get the use of the apps again but I get the following error and I'm not sure what to do at this point.
ERROR: /restore/ backup doesn't exist or is incomplete!
These files must be downloaded and saved to your computer in a /restore/ subfolder
Download links can be found in the Help menu in this program
When I look in the Help menu it only shows downloads for DROID 3 versions 5.5.959 and 5.6.890
does anyone have any idea how to proceed? again I'm so sorry for the lack of experience on my part. BTW the phone is currently working with no issues other than me not getting the installed apps.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I hate to even post this question....I have tried to research this specifc question but appraently no one is an idiot like me.
My goal is to root the device so I can use toughscreen tune to adjust the screen sensitivity. I am trying to get the device working for acceptable note taking with a "stylus".
I started a root process that was for the Wifi version. I got through ODIN step and copied the zip file to the root. Tried to apply the zip file in recovery mode...and got an error. Stopped and did more research. Then realized I was following the directions for just a wifi device.
The tablet works fine btw.
I tried following the directions for the 4g root in the dev section. I have copied the zip (recovery and kernel) files to the what I believe to be the root. Again in recovery mode I get messages saying after I select "apply update from /sdcard"
Applying Multi-csc...
Successfullly applied mulit-CSC.
E:error opening /data/media: No such file directory
Install from sdcard complete.
I never get the chance to select either the recovery and kernel zips.
wondering if I messed something up by starting the wrong process originally. The device still works fine. but doesnt appear to be rooted.
Any help would be great.
