PIMbackup...:/ - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i used PIMbackup and im done backup, but i've got just files with "menc" extension. What can i do to restore them?? any solutions?? i don't know where is general file for example "pimbackup170209.pim" ;(( i can't find that...

the "pimbackup" program has a built in restore function
select "restore" and then locate the file you created when you backed it up
It then asks a couple of questions and restores your contacts and stuff

The menc extension means, that the backup can only be done on the original phone. If the original phone has done a hardware reset, the menc file is useless. Basically it's a data protection feature.

[Q] upgrade to 2.3.6 is not allowing my root to work

First I want to appologize because I'm sure somewhere this problem has been solved. My search skill are less than great so I was not able to find the answer or even the problem before so here we go....I rooted my atrix using Pete's Motorola Root Tools and everything worked perfectly. Then without thinking I updated the phone to 2.3.6 from I believe 2.3.4 (I didn't pay attention like I should have). After the update I am no longer able to get to any of the hidden apps. They are still there installed it's like the SU function isnt working anymore.
I tried using Pete's tool to unroot the phone hoping that I'd be able to get the use of the apps again but I get the following error and I'm not sure what to do at this point.
ERROR: /restore/ backup doesn't exist or is incomplete!
These files must be downloaded and saved to your computer in a /restore/ subfolder
Download links can be found in the Help menu in this program
When I look in the Help menu it only shows downloads for DROID 3 versions 5.5.959 and 5.6.890
does anyone have any idea how to proceed? again I'm so sorry for the lack of experience on my part. BTW the phone is currently working with no issues other than me not getting the installed apps.
Thank you in advance for any help.

The important things to do? (like to save the EFS folder)

Hello XDA,
I have my nexus 5 and before i start hacking, I would like your advice on what to do first.
For example, save the EFS folder (I did a full backup with TWRP) .
What else?
The most important thing to do is read the pinned (stickies) threads in the general forum. That way if something does go wrong you'll know what to do. Sounds like you've already made a nandroid, good

[Completed] [Q] need help restoring from a full adb backup of non-rooted phone

Hello there,
I need some info on how or if it is possible to make use of my full adb restore file or I just throw it away and restart fresh of my device.
Device is allview viper v1 (16Gb) -
NO ROOT and not interested in rooting it.
I believe I made a few versions of good back-ups including at least one good full backup including apks by using UBT (1.3.2 version if I am not mistaking).
My problem: I can't restore the phone by using any of the created ab files by using adb which drives me nuts.
It's worth to mention that in between I upgraded the phone software from 4.2 to 4.4 by using the producer's update images... I did a factory reset with 4.4 and re-installed most of the apps I had. I even copied most of the data from a file-sync backup...
Every time I try to use adb restore I get to the screen to input (now 2 passwords which basically are the same), I get the message "restore starting" and quite fast "restore finished" on the phone screen though while using the full back-up I definitely see that adb is still accessing / reading the file for longer time...
What I tried further: I used abe (android backup extractor by tweaking their .sh script) to create both standard individual .ab-s but also kitkat compatible ones (with abe pack-kk) with no luck in restoring the apps and their data.
It is quite annoying since after converting to .tar and un-tar-ing I can see that the backups seem ok and I can even see the sqlite data and xml settings for the apps but I do not know how to import those to the new OS running on the phone.
I tried this using both USB storage, picture mode, etc., input only the desktop pass and afterwards inputing both of the asked passwords.
So the question is: can I restore the data (about 32Gb including the pics and docs) or should I delete all the "working" files I created and put it on the "learn by error"?
Should I try to downgrade to 4.2. (if it is even possible..) and try the adb restore there?
Cheers and thanks in advance.
Hi there,
I'm sorry but I can't find anything relevant to your question/device.
Please post that in the forum bellow for more answers from the experts:

Good luck
Info about the device is available on the forums here - more or less related to the allview name since that's a re-branded phone - e.g. how to root it, how to flash it, how to recover from a broken state but that is not what I am interested in...
I guess it's more of an Android related question but might be a device issue too.
Nevertheless, I will take your advice and copy / paste the original post in Android Troubleshooting section.
Thanks.

OP 6 stuck with no IMEI/MEID/BASEBAND/MAC address

Hi,
My OP6 is stuck and keeps restarting. I have flashed all stock roms via MSMtool from hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS 10.3.5. Even tried fastboot rom flashing with no luck.
Flashed stock OS via twrp still nothing.
I do have a backup of my EFS partition but flashing that via fastboot/terminal makes no difference in any stock OS.
I have searched every topic related to this particular error but didn't find any fix yet so was forced to create a new thread.
Need urgent help, it has been 3 months now and nothing worked. Few times my phone did boot properly with IMEI and other details but after few days same error( Don't remember what I did which fixed earlier)
Also, I did visit the repair shop but they didn't find any motherboard or IC damage whatsoever.
Experts/Mods need your help.
