how to edit build.prop so the phone performance is increased
as in better wifi, gps location, higher resolution/dpi is possible, faster media scanning and video streaming, better image quality, better 3g, etc.
also what should i edit so that the market detects my phone as another phone
(eg-i have a samsung galaxy ace, but the market detects samsung galaxy s2 so that i can download some apps that are compatible with it)
please give detailed answer as in what exactly should i change , what happens by doing that, what other values are possible for that etc.
i m using samsung galaxy ace gt-s5830.
thank you
Hi
First i dont advice you to change the name of the device for the market.. instead.. look for something called Market Unlocker app.. its need root to work on your device but its great app and can change your Network so you can download things that is allowed on some other networks but it does not change the phone model.. as for the build.prop tweaks this is a link for what you ask..

PS: i'm not responsible if you ruin the system on your phone if you dont know what you doing look for a ROM with build.prop tweaks.. good luck my friend!
also you might find here more tweaks but use it if you know what you do

Problem is that all the call recording apps i try they are not working on Samsung Galaxy B5330.
Even regular recording application is not working correctly during the call.(same symptoms)
It was working on SG Note 2 not rooted and SG Y pro rooted.
It is recording in very fast speed so you don't understand and i tryed to decrease the speed on PC,but i couldnt make it understandable.
How it is possible,i try to copy all the libraries from the devices to later rooted B5330 with no luck.
files:
audio_policy.default.so
audio.primary.default.so
etc.
I'm guessing that it is a ROM issue(security reason? )
How hard it could be to edit the ROM and change whatever is needed to change.
What i should be looking for? some conf file ? with like android.incall microphone allow or whatever?
Maybe for someone it could be peace of cake?
I want to record only my side at least ,need it for work during driving etc, i guess i'm not alone.
Thanks for any clues guys.

Hey man, easiest way is just to do a complete factory reset on your device (within the settings menu).. To be perfectly honest though, if youre planning to flash lollipop 5.1.1 on the device then just a quick heads up.. Firmware 5.0-5.1.1 seem to actually decrease the overall performance of the galaxy tab 2 10.1 GT P5100.. Not dramatically, but it is easily noticable to the trained/experienced eye/user.. Well for me it was/is noticable, but maybe im just use to all my devices all being fast. I cant stand slow/laggy/unresponsiveness..
Anyway, I have my Tab 2 10.1 GTP5100 with complete stock ROM 5.1.1 + Rooted. With all bloatware and pointless/useless apps all deleted aswell.. That helped a little with a slight increase in performance.. The battery life is actually pretty decent, i also do a lot of network streaming over my WiFi (stream videos from my storage devices, directly from shared folders from my PC etc, and files are anywhere from 100MB to 15GB and movies stream without any buffer issues)... If you also plan to root, its inportant that you remove all bloatware and try to keep your memory cache clean etc. Avoid installing battery saving apps as they drain the battery (duh) and dont bother with these bogus (virus scanners either) honestly ive tried them all in the past on many other devices and they actually do more harm than good by actually putting a (unnecessary burden) on the system.. Honestly, some might argue against it and recommend using a virus scanner on your device. But i can garuntee you, they are totally useless and a waste of system memory, resources(cpu,battery).. Keep it stock, keep it simple (downkoad only what you use all the time and/or what you need). Disable as many useless start up apps that shouldnt be auto started when device boots up.. Example (youtube) automatically starts the app and leaves it in the background taking up ram for no reason. Disable or set it to manual etc.. And most of all, keep the device clean from junk files.. Follow these steps and you will be a happy chap. Youll thank me later ..
**Oh and a quick side note, i recommend you enable developer options, scroll down to the "animation duration" and disable all animation options/speed. Aet them all to 0/off. That will increase/speed up device/app responsiveness and open/close speeds as well. 0 animation = pretty much insta load any app.. The only program/s i recommend you to use for system management are 3CToolbox and system app remover.. Especially with a rooted device.. You wknt regret it.
Anyway if you need help with any thing else. Let me know, and sorry for a long answe, i thought id just share with you as much as possible to make sure you have all the info you need
Hello all... first post! Suffice to say, not usually the phone hacking type...
I have purchased the Samsung Galaxy S8+ from TELUS Mobility here in Canada. I require access to the multi-user function in Android, which Samsung seems to have disabled by default on this phone.
I've looked around and found reference to a bit of text I can enter into a file named build.prop that, apparently, works on the S7 versions of this device. I have found the build.prop file on the S8+ and have tried to access it with a couple of different apps, including the BuildProp editor on the Play Store.
Regardless of what app I use to make the edits, I cannot save the file. I realize that this is a permissions thing and I may need root to make this change, but I am lost when it comes to actually getting root - I don't *think* I want to flash a new ROM or anything like that. I just want to be able to edit and save this single file. Seems simple! Maybe it isn't!
Do you have experience doing what I'm trying to do here? How can I get root without necessarily changing anything else? Is there another option to allow me to edit build.prop without necessarily affecting anything else?
I appreciate any advice or guidance anyone on this forum can offer. Thank you!
You cannot root Snapdragon versions of the phone. You are out of luck as build.prop requires root. If an exploit is found root may be possible, but it is unlikely. Your best bet is to sell the Telus phone and buy an international version with Exynos chip as that has already been rooted. Note that rooting a Samsung device burns the KNOX bit and therefore your device is without warranty of any kind (Samsung checks KNOX bit before honoring warranty).
Actually, this is my first thread but I need some help. I'm using an android device with Jellybean (4.2.2), 1.2 GHz Dual-Core CPU and 1 GB RAM. I updated Instagram to latest version exist at all (10.33.0). But I don't have the option to create live stories or even watch them! I also don't have the option to face filters . I think it is something they added to apk file. It probably detects that I have low spec phone and it hides these options . I have a theory actually. I think it is possible to mod that apk and enable these options. Because I know my phone is capable of streaming and watching them (i can watch live streams on other apps). I tried to edit apk but i couldn't . So I need someone experienced at modding apk. Can u guys help me? (Pretty Please )
Edit: I also want to say that I was able to watch streams for few hours (I did nothing). I thought it was a bug and it is fixed but then, it disappeared again.
Hi , i think this serious problem of Instagram ,I recommended see Youtube and find your solution .Its time you should contact experience man .I hope you will find solution very soon .
Hi, can somebody help me with this please? I want to edit build.prop of Oneplus 7 pro to look like Snapdragon S10+. I know where build.prop is, how to edit it, I have root etc. I just have no idea what edit to what exactly. I want just fool some incompatible apps.
Or at least pls post build.prop of some snapdragon s10+ version which HW is closest to Oneplus 7 pro.
I am noob in this, I was happy to make it with rooting itself, so I would prefer specific answer which lines edit and to what exactly, but I could also use some old guides for other phones if I had S10+ build.prop and info which lines to change.
I also have no idea if I need build.prop from exactly same HW samsung (and if there is 10+ like that - 8gb/256gb) or this do not matter. If I edit build.prop to 128gb variant of samsung and i have 256gb storage will it screw something? Will apps and file managers think I have only 128gb and will it lock half of my storage somehow? I want little to none consequences other than fool app compatibility. Thx for any possible info on this subject
Qué?
Seriously, though... It is not really clear what you are trying to achieve.
Is it that you want the Samsung apps without the OneUI wireframe?
If so, that is not really something you can do - you would need ported versions of the apps and some of them might be so tied into the wireframe that they have dependencies that cannot be ported.
...if it is the overall look you are looking for, then try changing the launcher.
Build.prop edits?? What for???
Edit it to install Heroes III which was supported by Note 8 but cant be installed on Oneplus 7 pro and to unlock 60fps in Fortnite which is 100% supported by snapdragon S10. I had succes with Fortnite but Heroes III still cant be installed, maybe its not supported even in s10, only Note series or I need to edit more lines in that build.prop. I simply need to fake my phone model to something that supports highest FPS in games and has Heroes III support. CoD early acces would be nice too, I will probably wait some time and fake it to Note 10 later
