help me get to stock please! - HTC Sensation

Ok guys here's the deal. I recently rooted and flashed but after coming extremely close to bricking my HTC sensation I want to restore it completely to stock. New phone and I just want to be safe with it. My baseband version is 11.65.36504.00P_11.19.3504.29_2
My build number is 2.08.401.1 can anybody find me the complete correct stock and ruuthing. Also can you tell me if I would just nex to flash them like a normal Rom. Story but Iwould also really like to know if I would get HTCsync back and be able to receive normal updates . Thank you for your time and help

There is a guide in the dev forum same one as rooting. It's a sticky at top and the bit at end on s-on and stock ruu at end is what you want...

Thank you, and thanked.

I have noob question, if I want to go back to stock, n load the ruu, do I have to change s-off to s-on when I go back to stock? Or can I go to stock and keep s-off? Thanks

[Q] How do I get a stock ROM?

Hi All,
I'm about to root and flash a new ROM onto my HTC Sensation but before I do so, I want to have a backup of the stock ROM in case I need to take the phone in for a repair.
I'm looking for the Vodafone Australia HTC Sensation stock ROM but can't find it!
Does anyone have one which they could send me a link to?
Or, is there a way which I can make a backup of the stock ROM from my phone?
Thanks!
EDIT: just to clarify, I've tried searching for the RUU but there don't seem to be any for Vodafone AUS. So is there anyway to backup the stock? Thanks! (I'm not exactly a newbie at rooting/flashing, just never had to worry about backing up for warranty purposes before)
i was wondering the same thing! cant find the ruu! hope someone can guide us to restore without a RUU
or some method gets invented

Im bad at posting links. Head over to sensation android development section. Find the roms collection thread and it should have plenty of choices stock and custom.

Not sure if it helps, there are many of RUU in shipped-roms.com, Sensation related ROMs are in http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
@tingtan Thanks for the link. I'm not sure which one the Vodafone AUS one is. Is there anyway that you or someone else could match it for me? Here is a screenshot of the software info for my phone. Thanks!

hey did you find a way to do it?
People, before you flash a new rom you need to make a nandroid back up! In case you need to restore your phone for what ever reason.....
This is also done in clockworkmod recovery.....
Hit the backup/restore button and you are good to go.
If you look at the step by step install protocols in the tread of your choosen rom, one of the first steps is DO A NONDROIDBACKUP....
Goodluck!

Thanks for the tip! And I assume that if you need to take the phone back for some reason, just restore, unroot and S-on?

you cant S-on without a RUU though? thats what the guide says?
If you do restore, you are unrooted.... But be careful restoring s-on, its more riskie than requiring s-of! Read the threads regarding this proces and do what it says every step!

You'll need to have stock recovery and bootloader, which a nandroid backup doesn't save. And only an RUU, AFAIK will give you those.

Here is a link to an Australian Vodafone stock RUU, I note yours is a slightly newer version than this RUU, however I would expect this would be fine if you need to go back to stock.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/c13...00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_220002_signed.exe (thanks to Football)
BTW you either need your stock RUU or you need to have backed up stock recovery and Hboot before rooting (via temp root) because these are overwritten in the revolutionary s-off and custom recovery installation process. A nandroid backup is important but it won't take you back to stock.
For a short time I've got the RUU in my dropbox, it might be a bit quicker and less ads! http://is.gd/Vaq45l

how many use super CID

I'm not familiar with super CID coming from the Mytouch4G, how many of you did it when you rooted? I'm rooting my Sensation 4G as I type this.
i did and you should do the same cause in the future will be very useful

I don't have to do it at this time right? I could always choose to do it later correct? The reason I ask is because I read that you would not be able to receive any OTA updates HTC pushes out.

well if you don't want to install ics custom rom you don't have to but if you want you have anyway there are ics fw that can be installed without supercid but imo it is better to supercid
edit: and if you supercid you can revert it back....however if you have rooted the phone you can't receive OTA, or better you can but it will brick your phone

yes man before getting the ota you MUST flash the stock htc RUU which you can find in the development forum
Almost everyone does SuperCID after rooting.
After Rooting, I didn't though. I just S-Offed. A week later, I realized I had to SuperCID to get some ROMs to work. So I did it and never regretted.
Go for it.

what exactly did I miss?
I have not needed supercid, I simply s-off'd and not needed any such thing.
I have updated the fw and I'm running Virtuous Inquisition ICS rom, no problems?
I really don't understand why you'd want to change the CID or how it affects ROMS
You don't have to supercid, but it might be handy at some point. It will allow you to flash any ruu shall you ever need it.
Sent throught the wormhole from my CoinInserted Sensation OG.
There are no downsides. I did it as soon as I got my Sensation.
I bought my sensation pre rooted, I have latest firmware and am runnin a 4.0.3. Rom, so does this mean the guy used superCID or whatever

Well I must say Im glad I went supercid
I think I saved me a super headache when I got stuck in a bootloop from flasing a ICS the wrong way whatever I did wrong I was able to find a stock RUU in no time thanks y'all.

if your not branded,
you will almost never have to supercid for a custom rom to install.
but for example if a firmware update is mandatory, you might depending on your cid/mid.
i own a xe device and never supercid it, can install anything without problems. (dont always) believe what people say, but always check the description on the base of your own cid/mid yourself.
that said,it cant hurt to supercid, but if its not mandatory why?
+1 Me too
+1 I've supercid as well, changed a few times back to orginal CID because of warranty without problem.

Where do I start...

Well I just got my sensation 4g and did sone researching.... I know its been out for awhile so I was wondering where do I start... Whats the most up to date way to root ny phone (assuming theres more than one way) and whats a good rom? (I like using sense lol).

G'day champ,
Welcome back, begin with the guides provided below.
1. S-off, unlock, recovery, root & SuperCID
[Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on
2. Install the latest firmware, 3.32 is needed for the latest base.
[Firmware][Mar 30]User-Friendly Firmware 1.17/3.12/3.24,3.30 & 3.32 Unlocked
3. Flash a ROM, Android Revolution HD(ARHD) is the most popular(for good reason)
[ROM] Android Revolution HD 6.5.5 | ICS | High Quality & Performance | 3.32.401.105
After all that, feel free to learn what you will, there's plenty to learn, it just requires reading, and problems, there's guides all over the Sensation forums, generally within the first couple of pages.
Thank you for all that. What is the firmware step for??

For what reasons exactly
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
You can root without doing supercid. Supercid is optional.
It allows you more flexibility though. Useful if you want to flash other areas/carriers rom. Personally I prefer to keep original cid.
Recently I couldn't receive ota update to ICS because I was supercid, then reverted to the original one and suddenly I received the Ota update notice.
It's up to you whether supercid or not and it's not a real concern because you can revert at anytime.
What is your current hboot version? Power off, pull battery, press & hold vol down and power to enter bootloader and read it off.
You have to check your hboot is supported by revolutionary- the tool to give you s-off.
sent from HTC Pyramid using Tapatalk
And the OTA thing... Say i update my phone..will i lose root n such..
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Yes you will lose everything and bootloader will become 1.27 (which is unsupported by revolutionary) Unless you have S-OFF before the update that is.
As for SuperCID, Its optional but HIGHLY recommended, As said before, it allows you to flash any firmware from any region....
If you dont have it, You MUST make sure it matches your CID or it wont boot... It can also be tricky to find one for your region (depending where you are)
It only takes a second, And its permanent and reversible
When i switch from rom to rom... Do i superwipe then flash rom everytime??
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
You can do, but its not necessary, Have a look at the installation guide for the ROM your going to flash.... Usually if you are updating the same ROM wipe isnt needed..
If you are going to a different ROM altogether, A wipe is a MUST

Rooting my sensation

I just bought a new sensation and I want to root it.so do I go to revolutionary.com and just follow the steps? Is the stock firmware 3.32 or do I need to update it to that?after I get the s-off for security then next do I install 4 ext touch recovery? Is that just a program that I download onto my sensation?and after that's done then can I go ahead and start putting.whatever Rom I want to use on my sensation.I do want to mess up my phone, etc.could someone help me out here alittle bit.and what are some of the biggest reasons why a phone gets bricked?and is it true a phone can always be unbricked? Thanks in advance...
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
What is your Hboot version? First find out your Hboot version, then you
Can know exactly which method of rooting to use. Revolutionary uses specific h boot versions. So once you find that out then you can move forward using the correct guide. Hope this helps.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Thanks.after rooted how do I get 4 ext touch recovery on my phone is it just an app that I download?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
Hey, don't jump to rooting right away.
You first need to S Off or unlock your bootloader.
Here are the appropriate guides for you:
How to flash ICS 3.32 firmware | flash/update ARHD 6.6.x ICS ROM
Flashing roms with S-ON and 1.2x HBOOT
These are guides for flashing ROMs, & your Hboot version is very important to determine which method will work for you.
For now, it should be sufficient to read through the guide.
Don't try to do it right away, read first, understand & then proceed.
Thanks for the information.I have my sensation unlocked s-off.so I'm go to install 4 ext recovery app correct.

Do it through the steps mentioned in one of the 2 guides that I've linked you to.
Yes when the time comes you will really enjoy 4ext recovery. It is so nice with many features and is extremely user friendly! They also have some beautiful themes you can use on your 4ext recovery! I just flashed one yesterday called purple moon its soo nice. I think you will be very happy with 4 ext.The one I'm using is the newest version its called 2.41.
So far its been great.
