I installed ICS on my Skyrocket and the MMS app is non responsive.
How do i get it to work?
SKYICECREAM RC6.75Z
(Overclocked one)
What are my options?
I fixed it. For some reason the application shortcut on the main screen did not work. I just went into applications and put a new shortcut to the messaging app on the front screen.
Glad you fixed it. I had the same issue. It was a battery saver that was messing up my MMS. Once I uninstalled it (juicedefender) it started working. I found that Juicedefender beta works on the skyrocket without messing up MMS

... at least not without using the system settings. My old standby Quick Settings stopped working, and so did My Settings and all the other apps I've tried using.
Maybe this is because of my custom ROM? (But it was working fine before). I did just update JuiceDefender but didn't think it would cause a problem like this.
Re-flashed b_randon14's stock deodexed ROM, saw no problems with my system any more. Re-flashed my ROM, same thing. It's like the issue just vanished.
...so I'm back to Black Lightning, the latest Juice Defender, and Quick Settings. Good life.
Edit: And then I realized wifi wasn't working. I have reverted to completely stock settings to return it to my phone.
Seems to be somewhat common but no fix to be found...
Using CM7.1
Was working perfectly for a month.
Seemed to happen out of no where, no new apps installed or settings changed. The phone will vibrate for incoming calls, haptic, everything except SMS.
Using GoSMS but it does the same with the stock messanging app. Vibration is turned on in all the system and messanging settings. In fact, when I test settings in GoSMS it reports "vibration on".
Tried clearing the dalvik cache and tried installing this app but it won't show anywhere in the app drawer and I can't find it anywhere on the phone despite the market saying its installed. Unfortunate becasue it seems this app was designed for this very issue with desire/insprire.
Anyone have a fix for this or a method I could get the above app to install properly?
Thanks.
edit.....It's looking like an app issue......
never mind on the rom repair part....sorry
mods can delete....g
Gregsarg was actually probably right the first time. It doesn't seem to be an APP issue (as all MMS apps have the same lack of vibrate), but a broader issue.
His suggestion to install CM7 on top of itself is likely the simplest attempt at solution since you haven't found a specific solution through your searches.
I also tried the GoodVibrations.apk and it only shows in airdroid, mybackup, and managing all apps... It doesn't even have the 'open' command on the market menu after installing it >.>

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't see this suggestion before it was edited out. What exactly is meant by install CM7 on top of itself? Through clockwork I presume?
Yeah, just flash the SAME rom again (after backing up AND without wiping anything), and your settings should stay in place.
There is also a setting in the stock CM sms app that controls vibration, which is turned off by default.
Yeah vibrate in the stock SMS program is on. While I haven't gotten around to reflashing just yet I have noticed a few other things that lead me to believe its a ROM issue. Sometimes when I put the phone on silent it turns off all system vibrations even after coming off silent. I have to go back in and turn vibration back on. This is intermittent. Also, out of the blue the phone started vibrating during calls, come to find out "vibrate every 45 seconds during outgoing calls" was magically turned on.
It WILL vibrate when an SMS arrives if I'm on a call. Swell.
Flashed the new 7.2 nightly and the problem still exists. Everything remained intact after the flash so I figure I'll just do a full wipe/factory reset and flash the new nightly again and start over. Hopefully whatever caused this won't carry over with titanium restoring apps.
Do the full wipe, install the rom... then get a friend to send you text messages BEFORE you restore from Titanium, and then after....
Easy to isolate if you're carrying the issue from ROM to ROM.
Had the same issue, could find no fix. Used vibrate tools from the market and no issues for a week or so now..

That did it thanks! Saved me from having to do a full wipe. Phone is back to vibrating with SMS and I can change the vibration pattern. Nice.
Cool, glad it worked for you. I really wish I knew what happened though, it's kind of bugging me.
Meh, technology..

Well I'll add this... Out of curiosity I removed the vibrate tools app and everything is still operating as designed. So whatever that app turned on has stuck.
Has anybody tried out ARHD and decided it wasn't for them because something wasn't functioning properly (camera, camcorder, maps, MMS, GPS, etc.)? This is my experience every time I try out a new ROM, and I have returned to stock again and again.
Getting curious about ARHD (particularly because it's so popular), but thought I'd save myself the trouble if other people have had this experience.
Is it as reliable for a daily driver as stock?
It's based on stock, so yes. I found no errors so far.

The only bugs I've found are the ones that are present in the Stock release i.e. the Browser not opening links properly and the Exchange sync time not staying put.
Hardware wise everything worked, I had a the issue with WiFi not staying off but that occurs with Stock as well and there's a fix for it now that seems to sort it.
Nothing so bad that i have gone back to stock
I have a few problems with the messaging app:
If someone sends me a phonenumber in a text, and i click it, it opens the phone app and should automatically enter the number so i can call it, but the it just opens the app without the number.
The messaging app sometimes opens very slowly (10-15 seconds after the icon is clicked)
Even with the right settings from my phone network provider, MMS is unable to download pictures.
Other problems:
Sometimes the phone is slow after it comes out of sleep (lockscreen in nonresponsive or lagging)
Very very slow boot of camera app (Not really sure if this was a problem in the stock version..
All of this is something i have chosen to live with because i love the rest of the ROM.. Im just hoping this is fixed in later releases

Yikes! Yeah I'm not interested if MMS doesn't work. Have other people experienced this?
I'm giving ARHD an extensive try now that we are running ICS. can't say I have come across that issue with the MMS. In fact, the only issue I have had is with WiFi not staying off. At first I thought it was an issue with ARHD, but learned that we have the same problem stock. I'm loving the ROM. I would love to ditch Sense though!

MMS worked fine for me. Maybe SecherFault should check their APN's (if they haven't already) as that's usually the cause of MMS not working.
Iv'e been using ARHD for a while. Pretty solid and fast. One thing I've realized is that my call volume. Whenever I'm in a call, the volume sounds crackly, like the gain is too high. I turn the volume almost all the way down. It's not my phone because I've used other ROMs and haven't had the same problem. Anyone know a fix?
I was running tweaked 3.0 on FP5 and was experiencing lots of lag. I decided to upgrade to 3.2 to see if anything happens.
To do this:
1. Used ODEN to install tweaked 3.2. (I did not clear cache)
2. Reinstalled Samsung keyboard and visual voicemail.
3. Switched theme to black and blue
The phone kicked it's lag problem. I could click the applications button and don't have to watch the spinning circle (loading) for 30 seconds before getting to the apps. When I tried to make a call, the application phone (process com.sec.android.app.dialertab) stops unexpectedly. All I can do is force close.
I decided to install stock to try and get the phone to work and soft bricked it. I odened EP4 stock and got back to working phone. Woo Hoo.
I started reinstalling apps and now the phone won't work. I't crashes on open... what can I do? not install tweaked 3.2?

So does the phone crash when on stock or no? Can you get a logcat of the FC? Might show why it's all angry and what not. If you can shoot it my way
Having a better night

The phone does not crash on stock ROM and I figured out what to do to keep it from crashing, I think... besides, I have no idea how to get a logcat. someone tried to explaine it once, but my brain melted and I never was able to figure it out.
Fix:
I went back to EP4 ROM via ODEN. I then took 2 OTA updates to get to FP5.
I then used ODEN to add CWM and tweaked 3.2
Last night when I added the software I also added Visual Voice mail and the Samsung keyboard. Unfortunatly, the keyboard I founf on my PC would not install so I download it again. Somehow the one I downloaded was not the one that was supposed to be on the phone and I think that was what was killing it. The new keyboard had multiple languages including Russian. For now I have not loaded Samsung keyboard.
I also want to load Visual Voicemail and the stock screen capture. I am afraid of killing the ability to make calls and view contacts. where can i get the samsung keyboard, visual voicemail app and stock screen capture app for FP5?
On a side note, despite the phone working good and showing no sines of lag, the Youtube app crashes every so often. I'll probably uninstall it.
Another thing of note that might just be a theme issue or might be by design: I'm on black and blue theme and the 4 home buttons, phone, contacts, messaging, and apps are not evenly spaced right and left. they seem a bit squished together.
Almost forgot...I can't get haptic feedback to work. It works in Stock ROM and worked yesterday in tweaked 3.0 before I monkey'd with the phone.

Well at least there was an improvement
Not sure why haptic would stop... and the launcher thing is odd - screenshot?
You should be able to pull the needed apks for VVM and keyboard from the zip full of apks in the Tweaked 3.2 OP - or you could use tweaktools. Sorry for all the troubles!
Is there a way to disable/eable haptic in the ROM that I failed to notice? I did see the toggle in the android settings.

Haptic feedback
I managed to find a setting for haptic feedback in the TMS Parts > General which does not seem to do much of anything.
I did find tactile feedback for the lock screen. Now I can unlock the phone without looking. I also have tactile feedback on the keyboard. I'm missing it on the home screens.
Maybe this is a desired function of the ROM?

Hmm...
Yeah the haptic bit in tsmparts doesn't seem to do much - it did at one point (likely the Froyo days) but I forget about it and leave it in there it seems lol - have you tried going into sound settings? I think there is a haptic or vibrate type option in there that you can turn on/off, though I'm not 100% on that one.
Hi everyone.
My wife has an S8 and recently she has noticed that she hasn't been receiving notification on Facebook messenger.
Me thinking it was an easy problem to solve went into the phone setting clicked on notifications and found that the notifications for the app were all on how they should be.
Then I went into the app settings and checked there and everything was right.
Then I restarted the phone and it still wouldn't work.
Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still no success
I even got my phone out an S7E and checked how the settings should look on mine and hers matched my settings.
All her other apps are working except this one.
Am I missing something here, because it doesn't make any sense why it's not working. I performed a stock flash on the device about a month ago to 3 software, so she could have wifi calling but I don't see how this could of affected this one app and none of the others.
If anyone has any suggestions here I am all ears because I am out of ideas.
Make sure that it's not being forced close by the S8's onboard memory manager... sometimes it shuts down apps and you won't get notifications. Double check in the battery settings (you can get there from settings or the swipe panel) to see if the Messenger app itself is active.

Hi people, I seem to have solved the problem.
I followed the suggestion and went to the battery setting. In those setting there was an option for unmonitored and monitored apps. When checking the list of apps that were in these setting everything was right, including the messenger app in unmonitered app section. I removed it from that list and didn't bother adding it back.
Tested.........and it worked....I even got other people to message her in different situtations and it worked and still works.....not added it back in to the list yet, as long as it keeps working I prob won't
