On booting into recovery the version shown is 4.0.1.4, whereas in ROM Manager the current/latest version of CWM is 5.0.2.0. Can somebody shed any light on why there is a difference pls? If I flash CWM recovery via the manager will this change? I know some custom ROMs contain CWM but I'm on stock. (new noob)
If u flash it via cwm manager it should bring it to the latest version

I'd like to flash a custom kernel on my rooted TF101 with latest ICS stock rom, but i've not installed a custom recovery.
I tougth to use Recovery Installer app to easily flash CWM (3.2.0.1).
The question is: can I flash a custom kernel (like this) with CWM 3.2.0.1 or do I need a more recent version of CWM (like 5.5.04)?
Another question... after flashing custom kernel, do I keep rooot permission?

3.2.0.1 cwm should work just fine
Hi i have a nexus s soft bricked i can only access the cwm and fastboot menu i tried install two or tree roms and all give me error status 7.
I flashed the wrong roms? i dont know...

What roms are you trying to flash? Are you sure they're:
1) For your model.
-Nexus S i9020a, i9020t, i9023, m200 and sph-d720 (Nexus S 4G) are available. It can be confusing. You have a i9023, so usual Nexus S roms should work.
2) Zip for CWM and not stock roms to flash via the stock recovery?

MY PROBLEMS:
When I attempt to backup an image, it will give me an error while backing up boot img.
Also it does not allow me to flash CM 10.
I am trying to flash CM 10. What do I need to do make this possible from 2.3.6 and CWM 6?
Is my best (and safest) option to use a different version of CWM (for 2.3.6) then backup, flash CM 10, then update to CWM 6 again?
If so, what CWM version should I be using? Do I temporarily unroot? At this time, I cannot make a backup image with CWM

This is a weird problem you are having. Try to reflash CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777970 .
I've got 3 Xoom 4Gs that I've installed custom recoveries on, but they keep getting the notification to update. is there anyway to install the update in a custom recovery or does anyone have the stock recovery so i can flash the update. I downloaded one from another thread that is for 4.0.4 but i don't know if a recovery for a wifi version will work on a 4g version.
I am currently stuck on the CWM recovery screen wanting to change my rom to the KitKat 4.4 and I know I have to update CWM in order to Flash this rom on my GS3. Is there anyway I can update CWM through odin? My phone will not boot so I can't download the ROM manager app. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
There are ODIN flashable recoveries. Just have to find them.
