WhatsApp problem. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

When I go to my contacts list (phone contacts, not WhatsApp contacts), I can slide right to call someone, or slide left to message them. When I slide left, I can choose whether to use Whatsapp or the default messenger to text someone, but choosing WhatsApp does not work (nothing happens). Choosing default messenger works normally. Is there a way to fix this?

Not sure if you tried this yet, but did you try uninstalling and then re installing the app? I had some issues like this with some apps after flashing a new rom. This method did the trick for me, along with fixing permissions in rom manager for good measure. Good luck, hope you can get it to work....

So it is actually supposed to work then? I figured it was just some incompatibility issue.
And reinstalling didn't fix it.

If it makes you feel better, I just truer and it does nothing for me as well. Very minor I'd say as I keep all my Whatsapp chats open anyway.

[Q] QR Reader Crashing

Whenever I attempt to run a "specialty" camera application (Barcode Scanner, CamScanner, QuickMark), the application crashes immediately. This was not a problem in the past, but started yesterday for no apparent reason. The stock camera application still works fine.
I already attempted to fix the permissions, but it didn't seem to help. I also tried to restore backups of previous versions of the crashing applications, but this didn't help either.
Any ideas for why this happening?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Need more info to help. Rom? 2.1 or 2.2? Did you replace the email app as this is normally the issue
Running Darky's v9.02, which is 2.2.1.
The email app, really? Why does that affect the camera apps?

To tell the truth as to why i am not sure but this was an issue with a few roms that if you used an email app that was not compatible then the bar coder app would crash and it would crash as well if you switched to video recorder it would also crash. Did you change the email app or uninstall it?
Once of the first things I did was uninstall it. Video recording still seems to work fine.
Will reinstalling the email app fix things, or does this seem to be a case-to-case problem?

Yes reinstalling the email apk should fix it as it as on all the roms with this issue. If you cant find it have a look at the Phoenix thread and grab the email zip from the FAQ

Reinstalled stock email, rebooted the phone and now everything works fine.
Thanks for this, I never would have guessed that a missing email app was the problem here. Strange bug.

I know I would not have thought so either but my guess is that it is wrapped up in the email app for sending qr codes or something of that nature. Glad you got it fixed.

android.process.media force close! FIX

I know some of you have been having problems with a force close message that looks like this: Android.process.media is not responding please force close or retry.
I have done search after search only to find one way that ultimately fixes this annoying every second force close message.
1. Make sure your phone is rooted.
2. Using a file explorer of your choice go into the directories as follows:
/system/app/
3. Delete this file from the menu, mediaprovider.apk
4. Force close messages will now stop. Horray!
If you have questions post them. I will do my best to answer.

i tried it on my G2 and it hasn't worked yet. Had to give ES FileExplorer root.
Have a great morning!
..........
media.process force close issue rooted htc desire
I fixed this problem without any further issues by clearing the download cache - I'm just as surprised as you.
staplesdroid said:
Yea like I said you must have a rooted phone!!!. Did it work after you gave es file root?
Another great program in root explorer. You can get it from ww w. 4shared .co m
Go there type in rootexplorer .apk and it will have multiple downloads. Just pick one and run it.
You can get all the paid apps for free like that. Just type in .apk after the app you want is typed in for example: rootexplorer .apk or irunner .apk or androidbanking .apk..... you get the picture?

Or you could get it from the market, and pay for it, and support the developers. But if you want to be a thief, that's your decision.

+ 1, a one time payment of $4 for something useful is nothing.
Sent from my abucus
why patronize piracy?
I live in Asia, where pirated software/apps are more prevalent than legit ones. That is because software like Microsoft Windows is economically out of reach for the man on the street.
But $3.99? Come on! We shouldn't expect devs to continue churning out useful code without getting paid for it. If the developers of Titanium Backup or Root Toolbox had decided early on that it wasn't worth it to develop apps for Android or WinMo, we'd all still be in the Dark Ages of the cellphone era. Making custom ROMs is not the same. For one, many of them were based on stock firmware--which were made by highly-paid software engineers at phone makers in the first place.
What the Android Market offers for free, I download for free. When it has a price and I need it, I pay for it. Simple as that.
1) the fix listed above worked perfectly for me. (HD2, gingerbread, CM7)
2) paying for an app is the right thing to do. free ones are preferred, of course. you know it, i know it, they know it. support open source, support the community. pay it forward.

Yep, this is actually a horrible fix. For me, it did nothing except stop me from accessing any of my media. So if you don't care about listening to music, viewing any photos, having ringtones, viewing video you have taken etc, this MIGHT work for you. I had to dig out the mediaprovider.apk from the .zip of my ROM and replace it.
I fixed mine by restoring my last Titanium Backup ("restore all apps with data"). Whatever was corrupted was restored back to working order. I understand that not everyone has Titanium Backup, but it has save my a$$ a couple of times now when an app or system file has started acting weird. Root your phone and get TB, it's so worth it.
EDIT: OK, so the problem came back after I replaced mediaprovider.apk, so apologies for that. I booted into recovery and did a factory/data reset, then restored my Titanium Backup, and all seems to be good now. Again, I understand this may not help everyone, but it worked for me, and it avoids deleting apk files without fully understanding what effect it will have.

I had the same problem with my Asus transformer. In addition the default Music player did not work anymore as it used to (played the wrong numbers).
The above solution did not work for me (I could get to the files mentioned without rooting).
Sofar I got the problem solved as followed.
1. I found an new version 4 of the Music player (com.google.android.misic.4.0.9.apk) and installed this version
2. This by itself did not solve anything, but now I could reinstall the factory original version and now everything is OK.
No forced closing anymore and the default player works as before
I hope it stays this way.

alfred
I've just updated to latest Oxygen on my Huawei U8800, and was having that same issue.
After reading this post, I've updated with TB the application "[Playlists] Media Storage 2.3.7 (10)" and it solved it.

CM 10.1 Epinter Olympus Text Issue

I can receive texts no problem, but when I go to type a new text (and this may be a keyboard issue) it allows me to type one or two letters, before the keyboard just goes away off the screen and I have to wait a few seconds and then click back into the textbox in order to continue typing.
This issue is occurring for me on the MB860. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a workaround?
That sometimes happens, maybe it's just an android bug, I'd suggest you get Hacker's keyboard it is very good and never crashes.
Hope this helps
If the problem still persists get another texting app.

AWESOME!!
Now I am running into one other small problem (and this I am sure is user error).
When I click on the phone and look at my contacts I am showing the same contact multiple times. But if I click on the 'contacts' icon, it shows accurate contacts/numbers etc.
What setting changes this?

I didn't see a way to delete the duplicate contacts. Anytime I click on them it calls, or if I click the settings button there is only an add option.
And a phone reboot didn't work That was the 1st thing I attempted, lol

Long pressing does nothing. Let me try to use the proper terminology here...my "Dialer" is showing incorrect contact info but my "Contact" app is showing the correct contact info.
Should I try to get another Dialer...is that possible?

I think you can have two dialers at once. If not just remove the old one. Try installing it first cause without a dialer your os may malfunction.

I actually decided to get to the root of this problem and I took a look at my google contacts since I was loading the contacts from google. Somehow all my contacts were duplicated (some triplicated) in google contacts. I updated google contacts and now they are only pulling in once.
Now I still can't figure out how to modify a contact in the Dialer that ships with CM10.1 epinter tho.
Also -- Is there a way to keep your phone brightness @ max when it is charging? I can't seem to get that setting right either.
Try this maybe: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en

[Q] cant access dialer or contacts

hi everybody!
im having problems with my moto g again. the last thing i did was installing textsecure because i had problems with threema. i think all those problems relate to using davdroid (instead of google) to sync my calendar and contacts.
anyways, after installing textsecure when i try to open my contacts or my dialer it pops up for a second (and it looks totally normal showing my contacts etc.) and then shuts down immediately (like a crash). in recent apps the preview window for either one is just black...
im not really sure where to begin trouble shooting or how to fix this. is there a way to log whats going on there to pinpoint whats causing this or is there a better way to sync stuff (using the caldav standard). although im not 100% sure davdroid is the cause for this it also could be a xprivacy setting but neither the dialer nor the contacts are restricted by it in any way.
i uninstalled textsecure and after a restart everything seems back to normal again, but i need a working messenger and i'd like it to be encrypted (no hangouts or whatsapp for me).
any recommendations on where to start or working alternatives would be greatly appreciated!
thanks for reading and kind regards

What runtime are you using? If you are not running Art might want to send a bug report to the developer on your issues. Might be a compatibility issue with the phone or davdroid.

oh yea, i forgot to mention: i reinstalled textsecure without the sms-functionality and now it seems to run just fine (dialer and contacts arent crashing anymore)! maybe this helps somebody for now...

Push Notification of Facebook Official App Not Working

I use Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910C that is rooted and running official marshmallow. All was going well for 6-7 months. But suddenly I am not getting push notification from the facebook app for the last month. The only time I am getting push notification from the facebook app when I try to login from another browser and a code is needed from code generator. Push notification from other apps, email, instagram etc are working. I have tried clearing data of the app, turning off platform, uninstalling greenify. Butnothing worked. What to do now? Please help.
Hi there so generally the facebook app is unliked around here because it takes up a huge amount of RAM. Many people here prefer to use an alternate client for facebook I've heard of some I think you should try some out if you feel you have done everything to activate push notifications. Here is a rddit link in case you are wondering about some opinions https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/3k2ol0/facebook_app_alternative/

No, I don't have another android device. When I use swipe pro, push notification works in that app. and in facebook app itself, for code generator notification and someone is live notification, push notification works immediately. Someone told me that this is facebook's problem. He faced the same problem. After his reporting for 2 times to facebook, they resolved it some days later.
Then you should probably contact Facebook if its a problem on their end that way you can now for sure if you can fix it.
