Recently bought the Kenwood X895 headunit for my car. I can successfully pair the phone to the headunit, it downloads my phone book fine. But I cant get the head unit or phone, not sure which, to recognize that I can stream music. It will only let me make phone calls (and all that functions fine).
Any suggestions for how I get it to pair as a music player? Ive tried all I can think of short of calling kenwood and talking to a trained monkey.....
I've heard that not all decks can stream music through blue tooth. Some only do phone calls over Bluetooth. Are you sure the deck is capable of doing this?

your HU doesnt have A2DP support.
i too am a victim of them, i purchased a BT900 and it doesnt have A2DP either. Kenwood claims that there is not enough support for it and so they wont add it to the devices even though they are capable of the technology. a simple update would provide it.
That's what my next headunit will be capable of, people need to vote with their wallets when it comes to stuff like this, or send them well written assertive letters.
Well thanks for the input guys. The research I read said people were able to do it but maybe I misunderstood them using the headphone jack or something. Ill have to keep digging and harrass Kenwood to come out with a bluetooth update to allow a2dp.
oh don't worry they just released there 2012 line at ces.. If not there entire BT built in line now supports A2DP support. Fricken BS!!!! I already sent in a customer complaint and feedback. Also been spamming there FB and twitter. Its complete and utter Non-sense. My brothers 3 year old kenwood deck supports fricken A2DP but my x995 wont support it. STUPID and all there decks are capable of updates with firmware they just add the profile and its done. I think what it comes down to is they don't want to license it out for the models.
PIONEER AVH3300BT here..I too was burned by phone calls only over Bluetooth. No big deal though since Bluetooth quality sucks when streaming
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
a2dp supports up to 768kbps, the codec used with most is 378kbps. that is far above most players and mp3s, unless your pushing flac/alac/wav you won't notice a loss in quality
There are adapters to enable bluetooth a2dp playback through you're headunit, I myself have tunelink adapter which is great, works flawlessly

What model of tunelink? I would be interested in getting this if Kenwood isnt coming up with a firmware update any time soon, depending on the price of course. And what headunit are you using it with?
And unless Im misunderstanding the amazon listing, you connect to the tunelink with bluetooth and it streams over fm to the radio? so the streaming to fm is still the weak link...
Kenwood 3.90 Bluetooth Update
Different type question. Has anyone gotten the headunit to successfully update to the 3.90 software.
I have been trying to use my laptop unsuccessfully. My laptop is a Toshiba win 7 64 bit.
When I load the native drivers from toshiba it also loads its own bluetooth utility
I can connect to the headunit and according to kenwood the update should be done as an object push. When I attempt to do this it tells me file send transfer failed.
If I try to use their utility from the website it tells me no bluetooth device found.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure if there are specific procedures com ports or whatever.

these are much better
Those are terrible! Check out the ones by Blueant and the ones from Bluetake, loads better. The bluetake ones provide a dongle that allow u to use it on almosy sny device because it provides A2DP (which our widcomm bluetooth stack doesn't) which is cool, because when Broadcom/Widcomm release version 4.0 we'll have A2DP and more and then wont need the dongle.

The purpose of this topic is to encourage developers to develop A2DP for pocket PCs before the Widcomm release and not to promote the HP headphones.
When will Widcomm release version 4.0?

Hey. Are you from Kenya?
A2DP is the bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile.
With it, you can stream CD quality sound from between bluetooth devices rather than the mono-telephone quality-sound you get through the common profiles.
Not from Kenya, but from South Africa, the country not the region.
This seems like a worth while endevour. It would be realy nice if we had the functionality on the XDAII and above...
I would actually just be happy if my BT works with the current profiles.

Yeah. I like thoes headphones but am not interested in carrying the dongle.
I currently leace the house with phone and PDA. I look forward to leaving with PDA and headphones but without the dongle.
Apparently someone on the PocketPCThoughts forum was able to use the HP BT headset drivers with the BlueTake headset. He's using a 4700, but that's still a PPC that doesn't support the headset. Has anyone tried using the HP drivers?

Interesting.
I'd try it if I had the headset.
Yep, I really like the idea of stereo headphones with headset capabilities but the dongle is a deal-breaker for me. I will definitely try something like the bluetake headphones/headset when the A2DP profile is supported directly on the PocketPC.

The purpose of this thread is ti inform developers that the A2DP software is out there.
I've had no confirmation from the relevant developers to this effect.
Hey ! Wow !
Ok slightly off-topic, but this could be a really big thing for me. I work with the disabled, providing speech recognition technology for those unable to use a keyboard. We tried out a bluetooth headset solution about a year ago, but the sound quality wasn't good enough for the speech recognition to work well.
Some of these people are unable to use a wired headset for a variety of reasons (limb spasms etc). We eventually went for plantronics wireless headset, but I'd love to see another solution.
My questions are:
1) Will the A2DP profile work in either direction (ie can we get high quality sound from the headset to the PC)
2) Are there any headsets out there that do this ? (I had a look at the Bluetake site, but the dongle only seems to be sending sound out to the headset, not the other way)
3) If there aren't any headsets out there that do this, and I'm beginning to suspect there aren't, would anyone with more knowledge of the subject than me like to hazard a guess if there will be one in the future ?
Sorry, I know this isn't exactly XDA related, but an answer could make someone very happy.

I got the impression (not sure where) that the difference between normal headset sound and A2DP sound quality was approximately the difference between 8KHz & 16KHz sampling; the better the sound quality, the better the accuracy of speech recognition.

I kind of get the impression it's not a mature technology. It may be that I have to wait for it to mature. Alternatively this may be a niche market, in which case I need to find out who's working in the niche.
I tried to use google navigation with my Jawbone bluetooth headset and the voice of the lady that gives you turn by turn directions are coming out of the phone speaker, not through my headset.
is there a setting I'm missing to get it to come through the headset instead of the phone speaker?
I checked in the google navigation and found nothing, nor in the settings > wireless & network > bluetooth...
Thanks in advance.
can anyone help me out with this?

I mean sure, I guess it's fine to work with a handsfree carkit and/or patched through your bluetooth enabled car stereo but if you have your window down while driving, it's still hard to hear.
they need to come up with an option on the phone setting for either stereo or mono bluetooth connectivity.

Well thats not actually true. Make sure your next Bluetooth has Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). It doesnt have to be stereo, it can be monural, mine is. All of mine are actually. If it has A2DP it it will say it on the box. A lot of jawbones have that feature but i've noticed it buggy with the sensation. When a headset has A2DP, when it connects to the phone it connects as phone audio and media audio. With the sensation for me, on multiple jawbones (jawbone and jambox) it only connects both audio sources when it initially pairs. The next time it connects it only connects as phone audio. I have to unpair the jawbone then pair it again and media audio will work. I've updated the firmware on both of my jawbones and it didn't help. Maybe a fix is comin, who knows. Doesnt look like TmoUS is gonna get one any time soon
OP What model jawbone do you have? If it has A2DP then unpair it and re-pair it, it should work then.

hey, thank you for the info.
that just solved it right there. A2DP...
I own a Jawbone 2. I don't think this unit has A2DP.
I guess it's time to upgrade to a new headset.
hate to give it up though... I really like how it looks, hangs on the ear(fits my ear perfect, can't even tell sometimes I have it on), and sounds.
guess I'm off to shop for either a new Jawbone(if they fit my ear right) or a new brand altogether.
anyway, thanks again.
Plain and simple your bluetooth has to support media playing thru it
I decided to just keep my simcard on my tab and was wondering if there was any way we can pair our bluetooth phone to the tab to answer calls? I've been just using the speakerphone for now.
Would be nice if we could use a bluetooth phone to answer calls from the tablet.
The only option we have so far is either a bluetooth handsfree device or a pocket talker ( Samsung HM5000 Pen Type Bluetooth 3.0 Headset).
Are you asking about Bluetooth earphones or a Bluetooth - enabled cordless phone? Certainly the earphones will work. If it's a phone you're asking about, and I guess it will depend on whether that phone has unusual requirements.

I'm also watching out for this function. The Phone Link app mentioned is very near the function we want but the development stopped since 2011.
There seems to be the same problem with all Xperia devices, but i couldn't find much about it with the Z3.
When playing music via bluetooth to a apt-x receiver there is a little break every few hundred milliseconds. This is really annoying and makes it impossible to use it at all. For some reason, sometimes it is just working fine with perfect sound quality. Also, with a non-apt-x receiver there is no problem.
I'm using 5 GHz WiFi and with my S3 and my Note 10.1 2014 or iPhones the connection works perfectly.
I already tried the old Bluetooth fix for the Z1, but it doesn't help.
Do you experience the same issue or do you have any solution?
I'm using the Avantree Saturn bluetooth receiver.
edit: sometimes it works fine for a while and then suddenly, e.g. when i start a game, it starts to stutter
No issues with my Sony SRS X7 Bluetooth/WiFi Speaker ....................unless its not using Apt-X some reason.
It says "connected to aptX-device" if it's a aptX connection
You are right I checked, it says Apt-X device while connecting. So I guess it works fine for me. I have not had any issues.
Thanks for checking! That's strange though, I found some other posts about that issue, mainly with car radios. Maybe it works because you have a Sony speaker
I think it differs device to device I had no issues with a HarmonKardon Onyx Studio either.
On Amazon there are a few people saying they get that issue with that Bluetooth reciever with other devices. I suppose it does not like the Z3.
Mine does not Display Aptx when connecting to my SRS-X5 or My Ecoxbt, which both supports Aptx.
When exactly does it display it?
Sent from my D6616 using XDA Free mobile app
Right as your connecting it. It will say "Connected to Apt-X device" in a notification near screen bottom, and then disappear.
Mine does not display Apt-x.
Edit: I can't seem to upload a pic.

US site, by few I mean only 10 or 15 people out 200+ reviews. But I think its safe to say it depends on device to device.
I have a problem with the bluetooth in my car it is always disconnected (Toyota original device) and after a while connect again.
In my other cars it works fine so I know its my Kia but I don't have any idea how I can rectify this. Called the tech at Kia and he said they've not tested the note 7 and may never as the car is a few years old so It looks like I'm on my own here. On my 2013 Kia optima w/ navi I do not get media audio so only BT that works is the phone. It will show the first song sometimes on pandora (Streaming audio, NOT pandora app radio) but never will update after that. All audio always comes from phone. I can change songs from the stereo but that's it. Totally useless. Works fine in my other cars and my BT radio in my garage so it's a problem w/ my Kia but WTF?? My note 3 and a note 5 work just fine. Very disappointing.
Anyone else have this issue? Any suggested fixes?

Other than the usual going into the settings of both your Kia's radio and your new phone to remove both devices from the list of available devices and re-pair them both, not sure what else you can do? There appears to be a widespread issue with the Note 7's ability to maintain a solid bluetooth connection for a lot of folks out there including me. Hopefully its a software issue and not a hardware issue in which case Samsung should already be well aware of it and working on a resolution.
I am having the exact same problem with a 2013 Sonata Limited 2.0. Reset the phone and even swapped it out for another. It connects to my portable Bluetooth speakers with no issues. My M8 and M9 connect to my car just fine. I'm hoping some type of fix is available.

So I spoke w/ my kia service manager today and we had a talk. I told him all the steps i've gone through and also that i've tried two different kia/hyunais and it didn't work in either. He has started a ticket and has an in w/ the audio designers at Kia so he says. I originally thought it was MM that was the issue but my wife has an S5 w/ MM and it works fine. She has BT 4.0 and I have 4.2 I'm wondering if that is part of the issue.
So you tried two note 7s and they both did it? That was something I wanted to try.

Yes, I did and same problem persists. It almost seems like the Bluetooth profile on the phone is not backwards compatible.
Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
The odd thing is it shows the first song in pandora on the stereo. I can also control forward but not play/pause from my stereo just no audio. Do you have the same behavior? Sso AVRCP is sort of working at least. I think you may be onto something about the BT profile even though it should be backward compatible.
Dave
Is it just Pandora or all media files playing back from your Music Library on the phone? It could be a Pandora thing. I have a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE V6 and my bluetooth works fine using my Note 7.
I tried spotify as well. Even waze only goes through phone speaker. No media audio option comes up in
In bluetooth.
So their first response to the service manager is below. How can 2013 MY have AVN 2.0 and by 2016 they're already at AVN 4.0 and basically saying FU to anyone w/ an "olde" car that is 3 years old.
To my knowledge, that platform is no longer tested (it is an AVN 2.0 and we are up to AVN 4.0 and developing AVN 5.0) however, advise would be for the customer to continue to update their phone, delete pairings and re-pair after they update their phone software. I can send this information to the Bluetooth team and see if they are able to duplicate anything on a vehicle however, it's hard to guarantee compatibility on older models with newer phones and software.
I would have to check and see if any later software is available however, sometimes a map update will give the customer the latest head unit software however, that is not covered under warranty."
