I went to my backup rom, unrooted, removed all apps...and duuuh realize that my backup was of eagle bloods rom, and it read eagle blood in the firmware (in the about menu) and not stock LOL
so I got turned down on the return (figured Id wait for the sensation), anyway does anyone have a stock rom, untouched somewhere? and also can I return the phone to any tmobile, or does it have to be to the store I bought it from...my local store is small, so I bet if I try and go back now they will just remember me lol
thanks

If you look at the development section you will find the rooted stock version. You can flash that and then unroot using superoneclick.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
yeah I tried that rom, I need one that is untouched no apps installed, none deleted
the guys at my store went through it like crazy, in my attempt to return it lol
might keep it though, as I just installed the newest cm7 kang build and it basically cleaned up all the issues I was having on my device
It's very easy to return to stock.
Unroot using super one click root
Flash the stock recovery using NVFlash
Hold down the vol - / power and it'll restore.
thats EXACTLY what I did,
but when the guy at the store pulled up the "about" settings, it read the "eagle" rom in the firmware for some reason
and all the stock apps were all gone too, only the ones that were included in the eagle rom that I had flashed, and subsequently wiped a few days ago remained
I know its my bad that I didnt nandroid the stock rom when I opened up the phone for the first time
just was hopping someone had a stock backup WITHOUT titanium or busybody included
Hmm that's strange,
That's what I've been doing with CM7 and it works just fine.
I guess you could try these steps
1. Download stock nandroid backup Stock nandroid
2. Restore with clockworkmod recovery, boot up and then shut down.
3. Flash stock recovery.
4. Press vol - / power to do a factory restore.
5. Boot up and skip the Google login and then unroot.
6. Shutdown and Pres vol - / power to do a factory restore again.
If you read the g2x forum you'll see they have a thread with the tmo bloatware apks

i took mine in yesterday with phone jack in with CM7 nightly on mine to the tmobile i bough it at and they didnt even bother to power it on to look at it. i think it all depends on who's helping you and whether you get lucky or not. i made the guy throw in a free screen protector since mine was on the phone i returned. he let me take the battery from the old phone but he never took the one out of the box so now i have a new battery laying around. i guess you just have to get lucky.

Wrong! Nandroid the stock rooted rom. Flash stock recovery. Unroot. Remove rooted apps. Done. Factory reset to be sure.

yeah the dude who helped was being a serious tard, lol
he acted like he had NEVER heard of any issues, it was the "best " phone he had ever used, blah blah blah lol, all the tech support forums are just "rumors" not real users .....
I felt like I was at a used car dealership lol
I almost cancelled my contract right then and there, but I figured it was my bad for not checking the firmware, and not backing up my own rom from jump
does anyone know if I can return it to another store, by chance? or do I have to go to the same store....all the guys know me, since its a small local store

Its all laid out a couple different ways in the development forums. You just have to do a little research and you will find all the instructions you will need.
Ok....i have a Skyrocket that i got that was already ROOTED. But i didnt like the launcher....so i used the Odin and put the Original non root firmware on it then factory reseted the phone. Now im on a stock ICS 4.0.4.
NOW...the phone is unlocked and im using it with T Mobile. But im only getting a Edge "E" signal....which is slow as sh**. My question is....(May be a dumb question but worth asking)....can i keep this Stock Firmware and flash some kind of Radio over it to get 3G/4G? Or do i have to flash a custom ROM to get that? Love the phone...hate the edge tho. By the way....i have the SGH- I727
first check your apn settings.
you have to flash a custom recovery first, then root it so you can flash a different radio, third link in my sig, you can flash any ics radio, there in my first link in my sig.
check your apn settings

Im gonna check both of those out. But to be clear....after i install CWM....then ROOT...ill still have my Stock firmware on the phone after that right? I did yesterday. Then from there what? Clear cache and flash the Blaze Mod Radio on top of the stock 4.0.4 firmware? Is that possible? Thats what i really wanted to know. I did that last night and got my signal all messed you. But i used the Blaze Radio without the "Mod". Which they said was the wrong one.
Main thing is....i wanna keep the same stock firmware i have now....but just add the Blaze Mode Radio to it. Thats what i wanted to know.

yes, installing the recovery and rooting is still stock ics, you wont see any changes when your phone boots up, but its not true stock for warranty purposes because of the custom recovery
My wife recently updated her phone via wifi to JB from ICS and her phone is damn near unusable. She wants to throw it out on the freeway. Her phone since the update is sluggish, and a constant headache for her. Her phone is stock, and unrooted. Do I need to root it in order to go back to ICS? Sorry in advance if this has been asked before.

You could flash in an ICS factory image using the built-in recovery (or at least I seem to remember doing something like it). But before anything, you need to know which variant of the phone you're dealing with (i9020a/i9020t/i9023/etc.) Just turn off the phone and check below the battery for the exact model. Once you have that, I (or somebody else around here) can link you to the right image for the device.

Oh, there seem to be no full recovery-flashable images for the NS4G. You could install a full image using fastboot but that would require unlocking your phone's bootloader (which more or less voids any warranty) and would also wipe all the data. If you're not particularly attached to all the data in the phone, you could try a factory reset to see if JB problems get resolved. Otherwise, maybe some other forum member might have a better idea.
OK, thank you. I'm about to go to sleep, and I'll ask her in the morning how she feels about the phone being wiped. In the meantime, maybe others can shed some info also. Again, thanks for the replies.
My wife and I both have the NS4g from Sprint, but our approach as to how we use the device is very different. She doesn't like change, simply wants the parts of the system that she uses, to work ... mainly tethering, mms, camera, phone. If your wife is anything like mine ... make your life a little easier, and just root the phone. It will give you so much more flexibility and choices. About a week ago, OMJ posted a stock, rooted rom in the NS4g development thread that would be perfect for her. It's all there ... smooth ... quick ... everything works.
i think before trying anything that could avoid your warranty you should do a factory reset ... it probably could solve all your wife issues ... it will just delete all your app but not photo or documents ( unless you select that option ) and you could after reinstall just the really needed apps your wife need ...
@wmdunn - She mainly uses her camera as well.
@kriout - doing a factory reset will still give her back JB tho wouldn't it? I'll ask her just to try it, and if it still runs slow, I guess root it?

The camera software in JB is really nice. As for rooting ... I have rooted every phone we've owned, and never had any problem with warranty issues. The rooted versions of the stock JB rom are smoother and quicker than the ota.

reinstall the stock image via fastboot, u will get a buttery smooth experience
Unfortunately, she is going to just deal with it and doesn't want to redo all the game play she has worked for for the last year. Thank you for all your input, I'll be sure to recheck this thread should she change her mind and re-read your help.

I have been looking around the wiki and the forums but I couldn't find anything on going back to stock on the SGH-T959W. Can I just use the method which is shown for the T959V?
Stop.
You do not want to flash these roms. Search this forum for your model there have been a lot of bricks and discussions on your model.

I see that I should not flash bootloaders which I already know not to do. I also see that the T959V is the same as the T959W (except for the difference in preinstalled apps and also the fact that one is Verizon and the other is wind) which is why I was wondering if the going back to stock tut will work for this model.
Ok. I wanted to avoid disaster. The one click should bring you back to stock. Just be careful with everything

T959V is t-mobile, T959W is wind. There is also T959P which is telus, and supposedly there is a T959N, but no one has come forward on that one. The telus phone is very different from T959V and T959W.

getochkn is working on getting the OTA update from wind and should be getting it soon.
I'm also working with him to extract the bootloader files from his phone so we can get a back to stock oneclick like we do for T959V.
I hope that helps.
Ahh thank you!!

Yes, as of now, there is no way to go 100% back to Wind stock. You can go back to T959V stock, which for all intensive purposes is the same, +/- a few stupid bloatware installed apps, but nothing that serious. The 2 things are the bootloader, which I am trying to get from Wind, will not much success but I keep emailing and calling and hopefully someone sooner or later will get sick and tired of me and give it up. The second, is the modem, which LB6 (I think) that only appeared on our Wind phones. The T-Mobile KD4-KJ1, etc modems all work fine, so it's not an issue, but I have a second SGS4G that is stock, that when I am ready to upgrade that one, bhundven is going to help me preserve and extract the modem, so we will have the modem, so a one-click back to stock with our modem replaced in it would get you 99% stock, again the only diff being the pre-bundled app's. I only used 1 click to root+cwm mine as you have to flash again and click bootloader to actually flash that, so if you don't do that, you can then explore any of the ROM in this section only on your phone.
You seemed to have done your reading, asked your questions in a good manner, so keep it up and ask or even PM me if/when you're ready and I will help you. Sadly some people don't read and jump in and end up with a bricked phone and it's hard to want to help someone who just randomly flashes stuff to a $400 phone because they watch a youtube video.
Do you research and reading, asking polite, informative questions and you will get help.
............Now on to read the thread of the guy with the T959W phone, showing a picture of it, with the tmobile logo, meaning he flashed the bootloaders and he's stuck in a loop. lol. There is someone who didn't read, jumped in, and may have a bricked phone. We can replace stock apps, I will have the Wind modem soon, but unless Wind gives me the kies tar, we will never have the bootloader.

Thanks for your help! I'll think I will wait till you get the bootloader. Don't wanna do anything major with the phone in case something goes wrong and then I can't go back to stock (when something goes wrong I mean like hardware wise where I would need to get it sent in for repair and then wind will see that it is rooted and modified). But I can wait. I have another tablet that I can play around with in the mean time.
Thanks again!

Yes, I have dumped the wind params and have flashed it without problems. Upon extracting the jpgs from it, there is 1 additional jpg in my params, the Wind one we get. The weird thing is when I flashed the "V" params though, I got no boot logo as the ofsets are different.
Brian and I are trying to put together a package to get it going. I have a stock Wind phone as well still that I am going to dump the GB ROM we get instead, with our default apps, etc, so hopefully in a few days, we should have a FULL restore to stock for Wind people. Having troubles with the modem not flashing though through Heimdall. Can flash one in CWM no prob but that doesn't solve the problem of using a 1-click stock to go back to stock without root, etc.

ARe you sure you have the 959W? I thought the Telus model was the 959P. The W is the UTMS band version of the phone, which Telus doesn't use, so I don't think you have a W.
quick question. If i root can i use one of the older stock roms in the return to stock post to get back to factory, in case i need to return the phone for a defect. im on the 1535VRLHE baseband version.like maybe the VRALG1 or the newest one that it says wipes your sd VRALHD.

You can use any of the Odin .tar Images. They are all official and probably the last before JellyBean.
ok thanks for the fast response as i am downloading all the files to root and flash. have been flashing since i had my eris, so i know my way around how to flash for the most part. came from the bionic and i flashed it like crazy. could always fxz back to stock so this is pretty close to the same just use odin more or less.
as far as the flash counter goes does anything flashed in CWM trip that? And from what i have read the triangle away app will reset that anyway.
and one final question about backing up the IMEI. is that done before or after you root but before you flash a rom?
