Hello,
I have a big problem with my HTC Desire S.
The Hardwarebuttons (Home,back,search,...) under the display don't work anymore. I did't change anything or installed any apps.
I have no idea to fix it, reboot and all other tries failed....
Anybody got a clue? Please Help me.
regards
What else did you tried except the reset?

Nothing changed, original firmware, no root, nothing....
Could help a hard-reset?

I had the same problem...and i got it replaced..

Best is to get it repaired / replaced by HTC under warranty...

Allways try a factory reset first before sending it back. You have to rule out any software failure. Another good thing (tm) to do is installing the latest firmware for your region. Look for them here.
Good luck!

Could have been an app you installed preventing it from booting properly, try to make a nandroid of your current rom then restore back to your original rom and let us know if it boots. If it does, it's most likely something on your rom. If it still doesn't boot that's more of a hardware issue.
Did you properly wipe, did you install a rom, you have to tell more information then just saying it wont boot could be anything why it wont boot answer what you did before you got to the point you are in now and then we can help.

You might want to tell people what the issue was and how you fixed it. Simply saying, "it's fixed," doesn't help people.

Aw that sucks
What did you have before ics ?
Are you using CWR ?

Same issue but does not require reboot or reflash.
When you touch the brightness it goes black, BUT if you press the power, then press it again it will wake up to previous brightness and if you leave the brightness alone, your fine.
I was on a ginger rom before but did a full wipe, wiped caches, and also did my permissions as well, no help.
mine wont even turn on anymore
the screen is dead they told me
im gonna send it to asus on tuesday
thanks for the help guys
now i have no tablet
Hey, same thing happened to me even before the update to ICS.
Here's the thread I posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517655

Hello people,I just check manualy from my DS for new OTA hopping that I might see the ICS OTA available.
Instead of ICS I see an OTA (downloading as we speak) that is supposed to be about-and I quote- "mail".
Has anybody received this as well?
Any idea what this might be?
I am also receiving the update, unbranded Desire S on O2 network in Germany.
Its been installing for like 10 minutes now allthough it was a small update.Do you have that problem too?

please tell us if you see any changes or improvements.
Sent by my fingers to your head.
Yes, it is still installing, so I do not know what the update is good for. Mine also said it is for "mail".
I just installed it, it's finished now, but I don't see much difference when I look at the (htc) mail app. Maybe just some kind of small bugfix?
Its been over an hour and its still installing!!!!I even xhut down and restart the device and its still after all installing!!!Any ideas how to deal with this?

If you have custom recovery you have to restore from scratch. Sorry, OTA is just for Stock systems
I stopped it through applications management and clear all data for it and now the device says there us no upgrade available to install.Problem solved! ))))

Try downloading it again and save the update file from your sd card onto your comp.
Sent from an HTC device soon to be replaced by Samsung. Suck on that, HTC!!
Got it. Took less than a minute to download and install (unbranded, stock, UK). Doesn't seem to do anything visible.
Same here. Everything went pretty fast over wi-fi. Branded stock ROM.
I fail to see the logic and sense why HTC are still developing fixes etc for OLD GB ROMs. They should dedicate their time towards to bloody ICS update.
Ridiculous how slow they are. No word on the update yet, and already in May...

Ok, I did it again. ****ing tried to root as the international instead of evita. I need the application, not anything with CMD. a recovery tool. Pretty sure it is HTC official that will reset everything and maybe update it? That's the program that worked last time but I can't find it now to save my life. Thanks for the help in advance. I'm getting pissed. :crying:
Huh? What state is your phone in right now? Does it power on?

Sounds like you don't have any idea what you are doing. You need to do a lot more learning and research before I tell you where to find anything, especially something that can brick your device.

Bro, there are some serious problems with your phone. I've read that locking post from you as well. Better reset it to factory default if using stock rom. Otherwise it's better to unlock the bootloader and start fresh with a custom rom.
