[Q] GNex won't boot - black screen - General Questions and Answers

Hey Forum,
First of all: I have a galaxy nexus, rooted, stock ics.
So heres what happened, i tried to configure teamspeak for android when i plugged in my headphones, when the phone somehow froze..I took the battery out and tried to boot it. However the screen stays black.. no response from the phone..
I took the battery out a couple of times, plugged the charger in, waited for about half an hour, took the battery out, and so on and so forth..
Any ideas? Common problem? Couldn't find anything through search, so i apologize if this is a "repost"
Thanks in advance!

Flash a custom rom via odin in download mode or if you have recovery mounbt the usb storage put a custom rom on your nexus and flash it.

Can u boot into download mode?

Brick scare.

Not bricked, just a scare.
I'm running Android Revolution HD 1.1.7
I flashed the camera mod a couple hours ago too.
So here is what happened. I was using my phone as normal, battery was low, I got a text message, when I tried to unlocked my phone to check it the screen went blank and I could not do anything then the phone just turned off. I didn't think much of it, thought it just died. About 30mins later I put it to charge, first on my PS3, but it wouldn't turn on, then on my little brother's computer, it made the USB sound thingy, I tired turning it on again, still nothing. I went to get my wall charger, again nothing. Took the battery out for about 20mins, put it back in and tried to charge it, the orange charge light turned on, but turned off after 5 secs. Left it charging for about 15mins, still nothing.
I was freaking out at this point. I remembered the USB sound my brother's computer made when I connected so I went to connect to my computer. I used ABD to reboot it and like magic it worked.
I'm writing this to share my experience and to ask if anyone knows what happened?
*Update*
Just took my battery out to put my SIM and SD card in and I had to do it again. I'm going to SuperWipe and Re-Flash the Rom.
Which recovery are you running?

It's not only you. Check the Android Rev thread. A lot of people are having this issue after flashing 1.1.7. Flashing a different kernel seems to fix the problem.

[Q] bricked rogers infuse 4g

i rooted my phone using odin infused gingerbread kernal.all was good . i messed with some battery logo changer and started messing with this red voodoo screen when in reboot recovery mode.any ways my phone is stuck on the samsung logo.pretty sure i bricked my phone.i have flashed back to stock rom and others but same thing. after reboot stuck on logo
also when i plug it into the usb charger the battey symb pops up but freezes.it wont even charge
Try gtg's ultimate unbrick.
The only known way to completely brick these phones is to flash a bad bootloader, and you have to go out of your way to do that. There's only one known instance of a hardbricked Infuse so far, and that was a volunteer for a known dangerous experiment.
If you can see anything on your screen, you're in good shape as your bootloader is still alive. If you see the Samsung logo you're in great shape as you have a booting kernel that just doesn't like something about your filesystems. Either way, Odining an unbrick package should fix you right up.
Edit: As I understand it, "power-off" charging is somehow handled by the kernel in a special way. At least it is on the Tab 10.1 - so an unhappy kernel means no power-off charging.

Looking for a lil help before I buy another infuse. I fell asleep with the phone in boot loader mode and didn't have it plugged up but phone died and next day tried to turn phone on and showed att then cut off. Plugged it in and keep cutting off and on blinking and won't charge bat. Won't go into either mode (download or reboot). I have read a few but not like mines.. won't read on computer. Any help please. I will tip or pay for cheap fix..? Thanks!
Remove the battery, put it back in, and press and hold only the two volume keys to enter download mode. Then use Odin to flash a package.

In this case, not a good idea. The battery is dead.
After a few cycles of it blinking on/off the battery should hopefully have enough charge that it'll eventually stay awake.
I think there are some other tricks to charge the battery when it's severely discharged like this, but I don't know them - I've never been below 30%.
Worst case this should charge your battery a bit to get you out of where you are - http://www.staples.com/Vivitar-SC-ALL-Universal-Battery-Charger/product_791676 , or one of the "standalone" Infuse battery chargers on eBay.

I think I bricked my Infuse, rooted with odin kernel hack, worked fine, left it in the charger for the night, wake up, its not responding to any buttons, odd, pull out battery, reinsert battery and I get nothing no response from it. Plug in in the wall charger, and I get a little loading circle on the screen thats frozen, unplugged it, pulled out battery, reinsert battery and try booting again, this time it got as far as a ROGERS boot screen, but now Samsung boot screen. Left it for 15 minutes and it was still at rogers boot screen. haven't been able to get past the loading circle since.
Any chance of survival for my week old Infuse?
EDIT: forgot to mention I've tried to get it in download mode with no success.
EDIT2: Solved and recovered with Adam Outler unbrick

[Q] stuck in random bootloop, please help!

Hello all,
I have been looking through threads for days now but unable to solve my issue. I have been flashing roms, mods and such for several months now with no issue. However about 3 days ago i was opening my dsp manager to tweak my audio settings when my phone just rebooted and now it is stuck in a loop. I was running paranoidkang 2.3.2 with a lean kernel with no issue. I have not undervolted or overclocked in this setup. I am running cwm 6.0.3 however my issue is that my s3 reboots at different points. I have tried download and recovery modes. Sometimes i can get it to open the recovery but as soon as i see the menu it reboots, same with download mode. Once i got odin to recognize it before it reboot but cannot do anything as by the time odin connects, my phone reboots.i can sometimes get to the boot animation but sometimes i dont even get to the splash screen.i had recently flashed awesome beats v5 but that was several hours before the looping began. I have read about usb jigs but i have been unable to locate exactly what that is or how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated... is this considered a hard brick? I have back ups of everything, just cant use them. ADB is also out as it cannot connect to my device as it constantly powers off...
Thanks and sorry for my newbness....

That is strange, I think a jig would work. It's basically a modified micro usb plug that triggers your phone to enter download mode while it's plugged in. You can make one or buy one.
This is not a hard brick, sometimes things like this just happen. You may have installed a mod that just can't run properly on your current setup and it's just causing a bootloop. If for some reason you get a jig and it won't work, it could be a malfunction with your power button making your phone reboot in recovery or download mode.

I've been starting to hear about bad power buttons powering off the device, maybe this could be your problem.

Turns out you were right. Power button issues. I finally got into CWM and it just kept entering into different fields. So i had to warranty it out after the use of a large magnet and a bucket of water ... oopps water damaged. I did buy a Jig from Ebay though just in case.

[Q] What is wrong with my HTC Sensation? :(

Hello everyone,
First of all sorry if what am about posting had already been discussed, I just couldn't find it. My device has been behaving weirdly recently. It all started by it turning off randomly when I flashed the JellyBean 4.2 custom ROM by albinoman. And each time I turned it back on it showed a battery percentage that was either smaller or bigger than what was there before. I decided to move back to Revolution theme but the same issue persisted. Now, my phone can't go pass the Beats Audio logo when it turns on, but stops and goes off. If I try turning it on again it wount untill I remove the battery, wait like 15secs and put it back again. When I plug in the charger, the LED comes on, goes off and comes on again after 5secs or so...just assuming that. Please if anyone out there could help me out I'll be absolutely grateful , please...

My bootloader is unlocked but I can't get the exact details cuz my phone wount turn on anymore. The recovery is 4ext touch V1.0 and I'm pretty sure my firmware is "universal"

if you have universal firmware as you said then you are on S-OFF
follow this
format all partitoins except sdcard from 4ext
flash the rom
if it doesn't boot then flash the boot.img of the rom via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash boot boot.img

Little issue is, its getting worse everyday. A couple of days ago I could still turn on the phone and get to the recovery but now it wount even turn on or charge anymore. Could it be my battery is dead?. Cuz it started behaving weirdly recently...like when the phone rebooted it showed a far different battery percentage either lower or upper. Then one day it showed grey with an exclamation sign on it. Then when I plugged in the charger, the LED turned on, then off and then on again and went straight to green, like it charged faster. Thanks for your help, I just hope my phone aint just good for the trash
Try with a new battery.
