[Q] bricked rogers infuse 4g - Samsung Infuse 4G

i rooted my phone using odin infused gingerbread kernal.all was good . i messed with some battery logo changer and started messing with this red voodoo screen when in reboot recovery mode.any ways my phone is stuck on the samsung logo.pretty sure i bricked my phone.i have flashed back to stock rom and others but same thing. after reboot stuck on logo

also when i plug it into the usb charger the battey symb pops up but freezes.it wont even charge

Try gtg's ultimate unbrick.
The only known way to completely brick these phones is to flash a bad bootloader, and you have to go out of your way to do that. There's only one known instance of a hardbricked Infuse so far, and that was a volunteer for a known dangerous experiment.
If you can see anything on your screen, you're in good shape as your bootloader is still alive. If you see the Samsung logo you're in great shape as you have a booting kernel that just doesn't like something about your filesystems. Either way, Odining an unbrick package should fix you right up.
Edit: As I understand it, "power-off" charging is somehow handled by the kernel in a special way. At least it is on the Tab 10.1 - so an unhappy kernel means no power-off charging.

Looking for a lil help before I buy another infuse. I fell asleep with the phone in boot loader mode and didn't have it plugged up but phone died and next day tried to turn phone on and showed att then cut off. Plugged it in and keep cutting off and on blinking and won't charge bat. Won't go into either mode (download or reboot). I have read a few but not like mines.. won't read on computer. Any help please. I will tip or pay for cheap fix..? Thanks!

Remove the battery, put it back in, and press and hold only the two volume keys to enter download mode. Then use Odin to flash a package.

In this case, not a good idea. The battery is dead.
After a few cycles of it blinking on/off the battery should hopefully have enough charge that it'll eventually stay awake.
I think there are some other tricks to charge the battery when it's severely discharged like this, but I don't know them - I've never been below 30%.
Worst case this should charge your battery a bit to get you out of where you are - http://www.staples.com/Vivitar-SC-ALL-Universal-Battery-Charger/product_791676 , or one of the "standalone" Infuse battery chargers on eBay.

Sorry, I'm not good in English

I think I bricked my Infuse, rooted with odin kernel hack, worked fine, left it in the charger for the night, wake up, its not responding to any buttons, odd, pull out battery, reinsert battery and I get nothing no response from it. Plug in in the wall charger, and I get a little loading circle on the screen thats frozen, unplugged it, pulled out battery, reinsert battery and try booting again, this time it got as far as a ROGERS boot screen, but now Samsung boot screen. Left it for 15 minutes and it was still at rogers boot screen. haven't been able to get past the loading circle since.
Any chance of survival for my week old Infuse?
EDIT: forgot to mention I've tried to get it in download mode with no success.
EDIT2: Solved and recovered with Adam Outler unbrick

SK 4g brick while flashing ROM

Hi, so i just rooted my sidekick 4g today with superoneclick, and it went well. After the rooting i downloaded the ROM manager tried to flash the ROM, because of the 3e problem on the CWM, i had to use the fix on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052991
So I got the fix and had the ROM i wanted (GingerClone+v2+[AospMod]+Update2), I went to recovery mode and everything started loading. Few seconds later my phone rebooted itself, when my phone turns up, and the flashy Samsung Sidekick 4G graphics came out, nothing else came up. The screen froze at the start up flash.
So can anyone tell me is there any solution to this? i tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775911 this thread and it didnt help, when i press those 3 buttons, only thing came out was the sign of battery charging and that was it, nothing happened.
You must have the bttery out then slide the usb in then do the 3 button combo with the download screen as the first screen to odin it

CM7 boot loop

I'm stuck in a boot loop and I have no idea why, and I've tried wiping cache, wiping data/factory reset, and re-flashing the CM7 rom. Nothing worked. What happned was, my phone died, so I plugged it in, and it went into "charging mode". The phone will boot, but the touchscreen doesnt work, and non of the radios turn on, so that it can just charge I guess? anyway, the phone got to about 20% battery so I decided to reboot it so I could actually use it while charging, but when I did, it started boot looping. I tried everything mentioned above and its still boot looping. Is there anything else I can try?
let phone go all the way dead
I run Cyanogemod with Da_G's kernel and I let the device die. I had a similar lock up when I finally plugged the charger back in. After it got to about 8 or 9% is all and was still unresponsive, couldn't unlock the screen I simply pulled the battery AND REMOVED THE CHARGE CORD and counted to twenty, slapped it back in and held the power button for the count of ten and let go. It booted back up fine and no issues since.
I assumed you tried a battery pull?

Yea, that non responsive state is what led me to reboot. It only does that when the phone is dead and you plug it in. I assume it's because with cm7 there is no way to charge while the phone is off, at least that's the way it was with my infuse and captivate. So that's not the issue. It's that when I rebooted to get out of that state, it gets to the cm7 boot logo and then reboots. It's never done that before, and I do that a lot. I searched for this issue and I found someone with a nexus on cm7 that had a boot loop, and it was solved by some cwm zip that deleted the partitions, then once you do that, if you flash cm7, all will be well, but I don't know if that's applicable to this situation.
EDIT: I tried the battery pull, I left it out for 20 min and it's still boot looping
How are you getting into recovery? Seems once you get into recovery and wipe data/factory reset and flash version 4 and flash the kernel it would fix boot loop.
I use three button method to get to clockworkmod recovery.
If you Odin back to stock the method to get download mode for me was volume down only when plugging in.
I have a 400mb+ size file used by recovery of a working image of my favorite setup to flash back to. Everyone should take a few minutes and boot into recovery and make a backup to flash to once you get up and running good.

I tried to duplicate. You are so correct I put the battery back in after making sure the phone was off and then plugged in the power.
For brief moment the big battery symbol appeared, but rather than continuing to stay with that and charge, it blinked away and promptly booted up into that frozen screen and no radio signal.
I had 50% charge when I tested this just now.
Upon pressing the power button I got the shutdown menu, but the screen was still unresponsive and wouldn't let me select reboot.
Ended up doing another battery pull (with no power cord of course)
I don't see how you did it, reboot while in that state escapes me.

I use the three button combo to get into recovery, and I did wipe data then flash both version 4 and the kernel, and it still loops. I am so confused as to how in the world this happened... anyway, I tried to go back to stock using odin twice and it just got stuck at system.img.ext4.
Oh dear you must take this to the Odin thread.... You belong there until you flash back to stock. Did you try only holding volume down when plugging in to download mode? Your skyrocket is powered down when you try?

I got into download mode fine the first time. then when it got stuck, I changed to a usb port on the back of my pc, but it still got stuck. now it just boots right into download mode.
I don't know what changed.. but since going back to stock wouldn't work, I decided to re flash cwm and try to install cm7 again, and I'm now back up and running just fine. This whole situation was very odd... Thank you for being helpful.
Odin3-v1.85.zip is what you have set up on your computer?
Glad you fixed it.

(Maybe) new method to exit download mode

ok so i have been trying and trying to flash CWM all day and during this course i have encountered about 10 soft bricks haha...anyway i was stuck in download mode and i couldnt get odin to recognize my phone so i pulled the battery while it was still plugged into the computer, screen still stayed on so i unplugged the usb. this has to be in this order, reinsert the battery and dont push anything, plug in usb again and charging animation should show, after that you should be able to boot, not sure if this is a method to exit download mode without a soft brick had been talked about already but its come in handy so far what do you all think? was hoping this could be of some use to someone thanks and have a pleasant tomorrow!
Thx for tryin to be helpful...and yes pulling the battery will get u out of download mode.
Me thinks though that this should have been posted in general forum.
But appreciate u tryin to offer help.

not that this helps but i just flashed miui v4 on my cappy and during an early attempt i was stuck in dl mode. Pulling the battery was my automatic and panic induced solution luckily it worked and the cappy is sailing smooth on miui.
You can simply hold all the buttons to boot out of download mode...

[Q] Samsung infuse has gone crazy bricked!!!

ok so i had paranoid android v1.5 and i wanted to update it so i came here and updated to v 2 i believe what ever the newest version of it thats out. ok well i moved the zip folder along with gapps zip folder over the sd card 3 button comboed it to recovery and installed zip from sd card wiped dalviche cache and all it said everything was go i rebooted and it went directly back to recovery this time it updated my cmw to v6 something all looked ok except it didnt boot up so i tried to install again and after that everything went black ... it took me 2 hrs to figure out how to get it to the samsung boot loop screen.. download mode not working also not my computer isnt picking up right it keeps failing...
Now for everyone else they say remove battery wait 2 mins. plug usb into pc then into phone and quickly install battery while holding volume up and down. i usually hold the power button plus volume buttons down then plug in usb and insert battery and then release power to get recovery .\
now i dont have recovery or download mode and for me to get the samsung boot loop i have to use this combo
everything out of the phone battery sim card sdcard everything... plug usb into pc then hold volume down (only) plug in usb and insert battery
and ill get bootloop.
if i hold all three buttons my phone stays black but the pc still shows up that the usb is still not good.... is this a brick i can come back from???!!
o and ive installed kies about 40 times and when i check in my device manager i get the unknown device i uninstall that . what should my device manager look like for a windows 7
also if i unplug everything and remove everything from the phone all i have to do is plug in the usb to the pc and it gets the malfunction error like it always does except it shouldnt be powering on.. unless that the charger failing to iniciate
HOW DO I FIX THIS????!!
I think to get to download mode you don't actually press all three buttons.
pull battery
hold down volume buttons
insert usb
inserb battery
download should start up.
okie dokie
okay well i waited 12 hr.s and tried again and i got it into download mode i downloaded the return to stock odin package uclb3 stock root
flashed it no problems with the flash now it wont read sims card also when i power the phone down to reboot it wont power up...it flashes the little loading circle really fast and then nothing.. download mode is easy to get in and ive tried flashing like 4 times now.. one of those times the sims card was readable but the phone would not reboot. idk whats going on
ugh its late...
okay after gtg unbrick flash and a factory reset i now have signal!!! now let me try to power down and reboot.... i hope it works lol,
holy wtf.....
okay well that was another fail.... everything seems to work fine except rebooting the phone..... now when i go into heimdall suite and run zadig to reinstall deivce driver and then find device and then print pit file it reboots the phone and everything seems fine.. idk whats going on....

[Q] Bootloop

My son's phone is going crazy! SGH-T959v. It had a bootloop with Linda saying to convert partition, etc. I flash Valhalla again. I downloaded it again and flashed it again. Now I've downloaded and flashed a ROM from Team Acid and now it is bootlooping with Linda telling me "Low Battery Level, Conversion cancelled."
I've plugged it into a charger. Should I just let it go for a while?
I'm about to throw this phone in the trash!
Thanks, Barry

Try flashing the blastoff kernel to the phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828171
It sounds like your phone may have battery issues. You should leave the charger plugged in while you're flashing the kernel, but for now try doing this to get into recovery:
Take out the battery, unplug the phone from the charger.
Put the battery back in.
Hold BOTH volume keys (volume up and volume down) together, then hold the power button.
When you see the screen turn on, let go of the power button.
When your phone gets into recovery mode, let go of the volume keys.
Now you can put your phone back on the charger and flash the blastoff kernel.
Great info FB. I think on clicking back to stock with root would be helpful and then just flash to the ROM you want.
Sent from inside the time vortex
It was back to "Convert Data partition...." right after I wrote that and went to bed at an ungodly hour.
Time to try blastoff.
Getting into Recovery or Download modes is relatively easy.
It said flash was successful, as it has for all flashes I've done. However, it is sitting there flashing back and forth between the Galaxy S 4G display and the Galaxy S 4G Team Acid display. At least Linda isn't talking.

It sounds like your ROM installation is borked then.
There are two things you can try:
Try to do a factory reset (this will wipe out all your installed apps and settings, but everything on the SD card should stay intact, but I'd make a backup of your SD card to be safe)
If that doesn't work, download the valhalla zip again and re-flash it.
Already flashed Valhalla, twice. Blastoff too.

Follow lumin's guide, this will reinstall the stock Samsung Gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM on your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
Will give it a shot.
Thanks, B
Well, the USB port seems to be Borked. One time I almost got it to work long enough. I've probably tried forty times this afternoon and evening. Half the time the USB device is not recognized. Now it doesn't bootloop anymore, it just stays on the opening splash screen; that is, when I can keep from soft bricking it. I've used the One Click Unbrick a couple of times, but the USB is so bad now....
I bought him an S3 to replace this one, but found out after purchase that its USB port is worn out too. I could always use an external charger with it, like I used to do with the S, but that is annoying.
So for right now he is without a phone.
Barry
... and now the repair store says the S3 has motherboard issues regarding the USB port. Ugh.
Great news! Somehow I got lucky and the USB connection worked long enough for me to un-soft-brick it for the fourth time and flash it back to stock.
IT WORKS!! Many many thanks to the XDA community!
Double great news! As for the Galaxy S3; It's USB port has been replaced, secured, and wired to the motherboard. The pads where you would solder the port to were pulled from the board and the tech figured out where to run wires and soldered them in place. Yahooooooo!
Now to do some mild mods to the S3...
Thanks again! :highfive:
Barry
