MIUI lockscreen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Sup
just wanted to share this with everyone......came across it today
I just got my skyrocket 3 days ago and really miss the miui rom i was running on my previous phone (x10)......more importantly the lockscreen
im running the gorgeous ICSrom right now but i find the lockscreen a lil "bland"
came across this "free" in market and it works like a charm!!!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.miui.home&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5taXVpLmhvbWUiXQ..
it comes with a theme viewer/downloader........but the best part is.......you can apply ANY .mtz file also.......since i still have all my miui files i was able to get my fav lockscreen back.......fully functional with charging animations, custom wallpaper option, notifications....etc
hope you enjoy if you didnt already know about this
peace

Thanks for sharing with us! But there is already a thread in this section about the MIUI lockscreen. Someone beat you to the punch, LOL! I liked the MIUI lockscreen, but here is what I posted about it in the other thread. Remember, this was MY experience with the app, yours may differ. Read below.....
"Thanks for the link, much appreciated. I used this lock screen app for about 3 days, there are some beautiful lock screen themes included (and downloadable) for this app. BUT...... It is a MAJOR battery hog. On average I was loosing about 2 to 3% battery drain per hour. At the end of my work day (9 to 10 hours), I'm usually around 75% on my battery with stock lock screen. When I started using the MIUI app, I was down to 50 - 55% battery at the end of my day. Switching back to stock lock got my percentages back to normal. If you can deal with the battery drain, it's cool app, even with all the Japanese lingo, lol...."

interesting.......ill keep an eye on that
my bad, didnt see the other post on the second page
thanks

This wakelocks a lot

What is the obsession with battery %?

I suppose its a different strokes for different folks sort of this but I just don't get it.
Why do people feel the need to know the exact amount of battery they have left? Can they just not look at their battery and see...
Green: Means your good.
Yellow: Means you need to find power soon.
Red: Means don't use your phone.
Why clutter up the notification bar any more? And don't get me started on all the "real" looking icons people try to put up there. [who needs a usb stick in their status bar. really. Its ugly.][IMO][I know some people like it. I just don't.]
For instance...the smooth sense mod. That is really a nice piece of work. The standard sense battery, the circle one, and many other mods. But no one ever made the standard sense battery without the %.
Once again I just don't get it. And some devs kill roms by adding the % as standard instead of an optional add-on. I personally have looked over many roms because of this single topic.
Any way. Discuss....
many people including me like to see the exact percent of battery we are at. Its a personal preference I guess
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
you are dreaming if you think that number is any where near accurate.
if it was then i might agree with having a percent indicator.
there is a reason these are not stock.
the battery percentages seem accurate. can you please explain how they aren't?
They are just that....obsessions. We all have our OCD's
One week I want the % to see. The next I don't bother. Then back to needing it
Yea I'd like to know how its not accurate. My battery is charged at 100% and dies at 0% hows that inaccurate?

Speaking on behalf of the tech crowd, it just makes us feel more in-the-know.
If you're jumping in 25% increments it would indicate that 85% & 65% are both the same ... 75%. I just feel more comfortable seeing the actual number present, even if the % isn't 100% accurate.
Even though this really should be posted in general or q&a... Metamorph is your friend...if you don't like a battery get a morph and apply it. If you want one from a certain rom/theme with or without % pull the framework-res crack that sucker open and go to res/drawable-hdpi/drawable-hdpi-v4 and pull the images and make your own morph or mod your framework-res apk. Its really just comes down to preferences. And this topic should be in general or q&a not themes/apps as its not really relevant to theme development imo .

No obsession. I just like it.
This is a very good question. It just comes down to personal preference, I hated it so much, I learned how to decompile an .apk basically just to learn to un-hack this MOD. No idea why I dislike it so much, I think it's because I'm a stock kinda guy.
haha I did the same thing on Skyraider, love the rom hate the battery %

according to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871051 our batteries actually do charge to 100%, but then stop and that is why the battery goes down so much after you unplug it.

Section Nazi. j/k A mod can feel free to move this to any section they see fit.
In some cases I have done this. But in others, such as the smooth sense mod, I tried and could never get it to work. I went into the thread and asked for a %less version and not one person attempted to help. Other users requested it as well. [NOTE: I stopped going to the thread due to poor battery life on sense roms. It may have been addressed sense then.]
I just don't understand why devs wont make it an option to have either. By only offering one or the other you cut your possible user base.

[Q] is there a rom that is like commrom for the fascinate?

Like many new charge users im coming from the fascinate. I ran the commrom and loved it. very clean, stable and had lots of goodies. So i was wondering if there was a rom or even better and all in one root/rom/kernal package that was a lot like commrom with most if not all the same goodies like acc battery, 5-6 lock screens just to name a few. also, does everybody elses screen take like 4 secs to turn back on. like after you move your headset away from your head? or is it a possible sensor issue or something? Thanks

There isn't really anything like that yet with all the extra goodies and all that. Kejar (team gummy) are working on getting something like that (multiple lock screens, kernal, rom, root included) in their next release. No, I don't have a problem with the headset sensor.
The closest thing to what you are looking for would be Kejars Odin package. You can find that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116086

thank you. Im still reading a lot of the threats and trying to get up to date on whats going on inthe charge forums. Time has just been very limited lately. I def looki forward to future updates then. Commrom was an excellent rom.
Actually, particularly if you use the Odin file, Gummy already has most of what the Fascinate's UKB has -- accurate battery, a toolbox, starts with the Gingerbread theme and has multiple other theme choices, kernel and recovery (and it's obviously rooted; every custom ROM is).
All it doesn't have yet are multiple lockscreens, but that's coming out in the next version (they've already released screenshots and they're even using some of the TSM lockscreens).
Someone, whose name is slipping my mind right now, is in the process of porting tsm parts to the charge. I think it will be included in gummycharged fe 2.0 but I cannot say for sure.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
awesome, i cant wait. the tsm 4 mode programable lock screen and the half circle mute unmute and anwser lock screen were my fav so far.
Yeah it looks like tsm parts will definitely be onboard gc2.0 along with a new toolbox gui. Its shaping up to be a good rom gone great to tide us over until we have aosp.

Yeah mark me down as another waiting gummy 2.0. I am running humble right now but that is onlybeen because I got too lazy to change it. Well that and I keep thinking gb is around the corner... Yeah yeah wishful thinking

Thoughts on Launcher 7

Just curious to see what people think of Launcher 7, for those who've tried it. I gotta say, I put it on yesterday out of curiosity, and was surprised by how much I like it. I love Android, and balked at Launcher 7 at first because it was a completely un-Android UI, but maybe it's because I've been on Android for like 2 years now, but I find it really refreshing. I like its simplicity, efficiency, and different sleek look.
I'm curious to see how it does with battery life. I used my navigation/GPS a lot today so my battery went pretty fast, not a good test of Launcher 7. I'm running it over Synergy (lightest Sense ROM I could find) and under battery use it's not even showing up so I'm guessing/hoping it doesn't have a big effect.

Many home launchers don't use much power, i've used GO/LPP and both are normally floating around 1%. Now I used the L7 very long ago, back on my MT3GS, and it was pretty nice to have IMO, I did like the UI's feel overall. But at that time it was still buggy so I think that's why I had abandoned it. I'm a fan of eye-candy so I prefer something more flashy with fancy effects. Which is what GO gives me, it has this cool sphere effect for the app drawer.
Your biggest power drainers will be idle/standnby and Signal, and GPS.

And screen if you're running a Sense ROM. I've always wondered why on a Sense ROM Screen will be like 70% under battery use, but on AOSP only like 5%. I mean, the same screen is being used on all these ROMS right? I've asked that a couple times but never found an answer. Oh well. I'm sure it has something to do with how the ROM is utilizing things, but who knows lol.
Yeah I've been a loyal LPP user for my 3rd party launcher for a while. Love the widgets and the customizable dock. My brother runs GO on his Samsung Galaxy S and is always telling me I should try it, haven't yet but it does look very cool. I've seen pics o that globe app tray thing, looks sick. Is it smooth though?
So far Luancher 7 has been VERY smooth and seems to have minimal battery influence, like you said about 2% I think it wound up being. More than if you weren't using it, but solid nonetheless. I'm doing a lot of driving to new places this week so I'll be using my GPS a lot, it's going to be hard to get an accurate guess of average battery life but as far as function/style I am a big fan.
I will say though that the strength of launcher 7 (simplicity) might turn out to be its ultimate downfall lol. I'm enjoying it now, but it's just been a couple days. I can certainly see myself getting bored with it after a while. It's very functional but there is certainly something to be said for style and flare, and that's one thing it doesn't offer much of.
As an add-on question along with what people think of Launcher 7 in general - I'm curious to hear from any users who are using the donate version - does it offer better performance and features? Or does it just remove the ad in the app drawer? I think it adds a folder feature, which is probably worth the $1.50 in itself, but curious what else it offers.

I think i read somewhere that you can change the autobrightness and stuff of the screen and that sense has theirs up more or something, i don't remember.
But i use adw launcher ex and never see it on my battery stats, so i'm guessing that's good. And it never lags for me either, smooth as butter.

I didn't really notice a difference with the donate version when i used it other than it looks alot better without the annoying ads.
I installed Launcher 7 and used it pretty exclusively for a while.
I got to really like how the UI operated, and found it very quick. But I eventually stopped using it and uninstalled it.
The idea, for me, was to get to a LiveTiles experience, where I could see at a glance how many new emails and social postings I might like to read, upcoming appointments, etc... without having to deal with the rest of the crummy WP7 interface. So I suppose my goal is probably different than many. But I couldn't get there with Launcher 7 (no surprise, since it's built - and named - as a "launcher").
As a simple app launcher, it was decent, for my most-used apps... though the second I needed to use less-used apps, I was somewhat disappointed/frustrated trying to find and run them.
That and, while I eventually understood it wouldn't take me all the way to LiveTiles, the fact that it didn't have (at the time) a clock/date widget that looked decent within the interface (seems like a stupid thing, but actually became a necessity for me) made me opt for something else.
Haha, yep - after about 4 or 5 days, I'm off Launcher 7. It WAS very good and functional, but as I predicted I got bored pretty fast. I play with my phone too much to not have something flashier and more interactive.
Wound up trying Go Launcher Ex, and have to say - it's way better than LPP! Loving it so far!
Question if you read this: how do I get that sphere app drawer thing? Can't find it?
EDIT: NM, I realized they only come up with horizontal app drawer, I had it set on vertical.

Look in the settings of Go launcher, look through all the settings, i've ended up on LPP again b/c it has the Sense3 widget skins, and appears to be running faster for me on miui. With GO I would get many fc's and it would lag sometimes, this started on the newer versions of GO though. Sphere is the app drawer effect, look in effects, when on home screen, press menu, goto preference, and look for effects. Sphere effect is with chariot, binary, random, and the other animations.

having just recently moved from a WP7 to an Android phone Launcher 7 made me feel "back home" instantly. I like the WP7/Launcher 7 home screen with the big tiles; IMO it's a nice, fresh look compared to a large number of Android launchers or iOS. I never liked the 2nd page of the WP7 home screen - a one-column alpabetically sorted list of all installed apps? Boring and not very flexible.
I now use Go Launcher Ex and while I still like the look and feel of the Launcher 7 tiles, I do not miss it.

Pros/Cons for MIUI?

Just flashed my first ROM yesterday, got MIUI 1.12.23 for Infuse. I started this thread seeing if I could get some pros and cons on MIUI. Any help would be great.
Hopefully this could be an area to help newer people with their first ROM.

Low 15 fps on video camera on MIUI/CM7 is a huge con in my opinion.
I would love to run CM7 or MiUI if not for that reason.
Ah well
Con: Looks like a Chinese clone of iPhone, battery life is mediocre.
Pro: Runs rather fast.
The only con I have is that there isn't an app drawer. I loved everything else about miui, but always having to make a folder for all of the apps I don't want to see pissed me off. I like to use only one home screen and keep it as clean as possible, so having the folder pissed me off.
Oh yeah, and for some reason miui always seemed to have a random reboot problem for me. Probably just my phone not liking miui, but still a con for me.
When it wasn't rebooting though, it ran fast as hell, and the customization is endless...I don't think I was ever able to keep the same theme for more than a day, because I kept tweaking each part of the rom.
Imho, CM7 is better. Never had the random reboots and I have not seen a single instance of laginess. And of course it has an app drawer.

Pro customization no other rom can do this atm. its stable enough for me i dont use bluetooth or hdmi so im perfectly happy . battery life has been pretty good it gets me through the day with some juice left over.
con's
weekly updates
listing to all the noObs scream its an iphone clone ... icrap wish it could miui
PROS:
- EXTRA customizable
- TONS of skins/unlock screens/themes/ect...
- lots of menu options
- LOTS of widgets / mods
- weekly updates (friday)
- MIUI music
- built-in screen capture
- easily under-volted and over-clocked
- D&D mode
- EASY theme back-ups
- buttery smooth
- nice, snappy response
- VERY LIITLE, to no lag in HD games
CONS:
- easy to get lost if new to MiUi (or modding in general)
- some flashes cause loss of root/recovery
- semi-hard to get used to (new user)
- battery drain issue (in rare cases)
- hard to decide on themes (not really a con)
- doesnt play well with low DPI
- Theme app often "fails to connect to network"
- slow downloads for themes (when not on wifi)
- slow GPS-accuracy (in some cases)

hope this helped you..

Yeah that no app drawer bugged the hell out of me too. I'm mean everybody acts like the regular infuse didn't have folders on it and its a big difference. I get lost in my own apps.

Yes thanks helped a lot. Where is the built in screen capture? And I also have 4G but the network will never connect to it. Its always 3G or lower. Plus my main hope was flashing this ROM and getting better battery life, but it appears to be the same.

Issue with duplicate screens/icons

I searched the Zeus forum which is the ROM I am using and was going to reply to that thread but it seems to be closed now.
I just installe Zeus last week and it's working great with one exception which seems to be I have one home screen that is a duplicate.
Normally the screen order is 12H34 but mine seems to be 12H334 so I have two of the same screens and icons. If I delete or move an icon to either of these screens it does it for both screens and I can't seem to find much info here or on google as to how to fix it.
Any help would be really appreciated and since I can't reply to the offical Zeus thread I'd like to thank Dman and the collective for a great ROM, it really has improved my battery life and made life easier not having to drag as charger with me everywhere.
