fixed my dictionary problem team eos nightly stingray - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was able to fix my dictionary problem by reverting back and installing gapps v7 and then immediately installing gapps v10. (No wipe cache or davlik) . This restored the corrupt dictionary file and all my words are no longer underlined.

in case you want to use the latest gapps this should work.
the earlier gapps had syncing issues if I remember right.
Got it working (or a work around)
from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354263
downloaded this: http://www.multiupload.com/SMA8WO3DPC
1: I used es file explorer and copied LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk and LatinImeGoogle.apk from the zip /system/app/ to /system/app/
2: remove /system/app/LatinIME.apk
3:reboot
you will have to reapply after you install a new nightly

Edit: Doesnt work for CM but works on every other rom
didnt work here
same followed it to the letter
what rom are you'll using and what problems did you have?
Will this work in CM6?
I compared your new file to the file already on my phone with CM6 and, aside from the timestamps, it was identical.

[Q] pls help me "assert failed" when upgrade to 2.3.2 [solved]

hi, my SNS has been ROOTed , the version is 2.3.1, for the google maps navagator can't work in my country reason, so, I also have been removed the original GMaps-5.0 use the System-App-Remover , replace installed the Googlemap-4.6-brut version.
now, here is the problem:
I download the 601kb upgrade file , moved to the sdcard/os, when I chose this zip file to apply from my clockworkmod recovery v3.0.0.5, it's always aborted like the attached image,
I have tried such as
1. remove the googlemap-4.6-brut, download & install the latest GoogleMaps from the market,
2. download the Maps.apk directly, use "adb push Maps.apk /system/app"
all can't pass the recovery process, aborted with such "assert failed ..."message,
PLS help me ! Thanks a lot.

The update script is failing because you have modified system files that it expects to find (specifically Google Maps) in the /system/app directory. Downloading Maps from the Market won't help you, because you have to put a copy that will match the CRC check for Google Maps in the /system/app folder, and the Market download copy goes into /data/app and has a different name, crc, etc.
You need to get a clean copy from a 2.3.1 ROM that hasn't been modified in any way and put it back in /system/app.
You could also edit the updater-script to skip that file... Check out this thread, start reading around post 184 to the end and you should be able to figure it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923705&page=19

[Q] Swype Beta Replacement

Has anyone found a way to keep the rom from overwriting the Lib.SwypeCore.so file upon reboot after installing the Swype Beta? I delete the old file from /system/lib and the apk from /system/app and then install the beta and it works fine until I reboot, then it replaces the old lib file over the new one and I get the old interface back. Anyone know if there is a backup of that file I can replace somewhere in the file system?
try uninstalling SWYPE and update SWYPE Installer to the latest version and re install SWYPE through SWYPE Installer...
You cant actually uninstall SWYPE, but I've temp rooted and deleted all the files from the system and then installed the SWYPE installer and the beta, it works up until I reboot then it goes back to using the version that came with the phone, 2.28 or something like that.

Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
it worked.
I downloaded the original gmail.apk
removed the installed gmail.apk using Titanium backup
copied the original gmail.apk to /system/app directory using ES File Explorer (Root Explorer option and then mount /system as rw).
Once the original gmail.apk is in /system , installed it from there .
