Great phone but it was time to upgrade. Loved that phone. Love my problem free stock G2x

i had the nexus s
I had a Nexus S. I honestly miss it, but the G2x hardware is a million times better. The main thing I miss about the NS is the large variety of roms (I guess cause the phone has more devs since its older) and that 4 inch Super Amoled display.

Left my Nexus One in a pants pocket and ran it through the wash last April. Tried going back to my still perfect launch day MT3G for a week or so but it was too damn slow. After just a few minutes of researching my current on-contract choices I picked up my launch week G2x in a local T-Mo store.
I like my G2x alright, but I do miss my rock solid N1.

G2
Mt4g
N1 is gone, but I swap around with the rest.

This dude wants to trade a HD7 for my G2x and he's gonna toss $40.00 on top. Any thoughts? I primarily use the phone for calendar and phone. Not big on gaming etc.
Just looking for some feedback from the G2x family I have come to enjoy

No.
You know the HD7 is a Windows phone, right?
Yeah that's my promary concern. I know you could put Droid on the HD2.
I checked on the HD7 forums and didn't look much to see if I can put Droid on the hd7.

If you're wanting to experience Windows Phone UI, just download Launcher 7 from the market. You'll more or less experience it right there.
No I don't want the Win7 experience. I want to put Droid on the HD7. Need the larger screen for some work stuff.

Hey buddy I had a Guy who wanted to give me his hd7 for my old milestone 2. I can tell u that phone may look nice but it lacks android. And it has a 16gb SD card that's it. No SD card slot and w7 sucks compared to ios and android. I gave him back his phone and never looked back.
Now I have a G2x and I am so satisfied that I bet u will regret switching.

No, don't do it. And it's Android not Droid. Droid is the name of a phone on Verizon.
....
Its Android...Not the Droid label from Verizon.
But nope, not its not worth it. The phone has its issues.
When did $40 become a significant sum?

Not significant, enuff for a couple cases of beer LOL. But thank you my friends for talking me own off the ledge. And it can't have android on it and windows mobile sucks.

WP7 is actually pretty good
Windows Mobile sucks. But windows phone is sweet. I have the G2X and a Dell Venue Pro. And the Dell is much smoother. Maybe because my G2X freezes alot. I am HD7 has a crappier screen than both.
I would do the trade. The G2x is dual core, compared to the HD7's 1GHz Single-Core CPU. G2x is wayyyy faster. Windows 7 isn't bad, but Android is way ahead. Get the G2x and install CM7.

I wouldn't do it, I sold my HD7 the day I got it. Never even booted it up lol, read some reviews and was like hell no....I been an Android user since August 2008 (launch of G1) and have not looked back. I bought the HD7 cause it only cost me $20 to get it off an upgrade.

Makes sense to me : )
I also had the HD7 off an upgrade and the screen isn't much bigger, like said above it is 1ghz processor and windows mobile, and I hated it. Paid an extra $50 to get the G2X that I love and have been rocking since April 16, before the official release to stores thanks to some t-mobile rep hooking me up.

I have the G2x, and the Dell Venue Pro, and the Sensation and the Bionic and the HD7.
Windows Phone 7 with Mango is making huge strides. I've been struggling moving back to WP7 from Android. I've decided on Android, but WP, especially with Mango is getting much closer.
I made a list of things I wanted....things I use on a daily basis. Android won....but....it won because of Lattitude....When Bing introduces that feature....it will be hard for me to justify Android.
I have also discovered if you love Android...you really love it. Nothing else compares. But if you don't root....you slow down on the ROMs, get tired of the need for work arounds for everything....there are other things out there.
The HD7 with Mango is descent. Its not perfect, like the G2x. Would I swap straight up....no....throw $40...no twice. But if he threw in $100.....then maybe.
Just know what it is you want in a phone...and get what you want. If you dont use a beast....why buy it.
I am switching to Sprint to get on a family plan to save money. I do not mind waiting a little bit. I was about to get the Galaxy S II but I decided to wait. I'm glad I did because I would have been stuck on the 4G Network. Now Sprint has 4G LTE out and I almost bought the Galaxy Nexus but I am still glad that I waited again because I was thinking about the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Then now I find out that the Galaxy S III will becoming out in May/June time line. I do not mind wating and that is a phone that will be worth having for a couple of years and you will not feel bad right after buying it that it is out dated.
My question is. Is the Galaxy Nexus still the better phone for development and support for rooting. Or is the HTC EVO better for features and support. Or will the Galaxy S III have so much support and be the best phone on the planet that this question will be null and void?
I am just looking for an amazing phone with 4G LTE and full dev. support.
Is there a little nasty rumor that the Nexus has better phone quality than HTC and Samsung? Because I am getting sick and tired of nasty android phone quality like on the Dell Streak.
Well anyway any help would be greatly appreciated please post...
The SIII will undeniably become the better phone over time, due to it's performance upgrades that will allow it to outmatch the antique GN; basically, the GN will get G updates, while the SIII will be updated even after the GN dies. For longevity go with the SIII, but if you want a cell for now, go with the GN. Although that would be counter intuitive in all senses.
Ace
Exactly. I do want a phone now but I am not worried about it at all I do not mind at all waiting a couple of months to have a phone last a couple of years.
My last question is which phone has better reception and call quality because I do miss my old blackberry because it had amazing call clarity and reception.

Galaxsy s III is better I think!
When do you think Sprint will get the Galaxy S III?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
Most of the time i would pick a phone with removable battery, cause it allows good usage time even when overclocked.
Just like my hd2 overclock to 1.5 with expanded battery still last long. And maybe a sd slot that keeps all my rom favors
Do you think the Galaxs S III will have a fixed battery?

I think for some reason I am now considering the Galaxy Nexus. I dont think the the Galaxy S III is all what it was cracked up to be. I might just get it though because it has SD Card capabilty but the Nexus is starting to look a lot more appealing with all of the 1 click rom support.

So I put my phone on craigslist for 200 today and got plenty of offers, but now I'm not sure if I want to sell it. Is there any phone out there with buying, I was thinking the HTC one from t mobile or the nexus. Just can't seem to par with my phone.

well if your buying from craigslist, most phones out now for the price of 200-300 are identical. same proccessors etc. The sensation/amaze are identical. Just amaze has better build quality and camera. It just depends in what u like

I've read a lot of good things about the Mytouch 4g's, those could be worth looking into if you're just looking for a change.
I picked up my G2x from craigslist so I could replace the POS that was the mytouch slide 3g. So far I've been more than happy with the G2x and all the ROM's currently available for it. Personally I'll be hanging onto the G2x until either the Galaxy SIII or G4x comes out.
The sensation is also a good phone. Used to have it. I would go back if I coould. Really great phone

I'd say go with the Galaxy Nexus, the screen and Pure Google, plus the relatively cheap, no contract price made me bite the bullet.
About once per day or two there is an SGS2 for sale on Craigslist for $300 or $320. They go quick though, I've missed out on 2 of them so far. Not a bad upgrade for $100 out of pocket if you can get $200 for your G2X.
heck i got 2 g2x phones that i dont use anymore. 1 is still stock and the other is rooted w/ weapon 3.0... make me an offer.
I just went from the G2x to the galaxy s2 titanium and its pretty awesome. No more random shutdowns and supposedly it is getting a legit ICS update on the 14th
I decided to keep it, I guess I got lucky with mine because I never get random freezes or reboots..
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
You should sell it and upgrade to the Sensation. Tons of dev support, better processor, bigger screen, fully functional ICS. Or like another person said, shell out a bit more for a GNex. It would certainly be a smart move to head to a better phone while yours still has value.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
you cant go wrong with the galaxy nexus as it has a ton of developer support right now, as it is pure google and running the latest software natively.
with that being said, the htc sensation also has tremendous dev support with many different kinds of roms and kernels optimized for it.
i would also suggest the one s by htc, since it is a quality phone with high-end hardware and shouldnt be too hard to mod once it gains some steam.
I really wouldn't fork out the money for the Galaxy Nexus. I would prefer the S2 over the galaxy nexus with 16GB internal AND you can use an SD card. GNex you're stuck at 16. I would definitely recommend the Sensation or Amaze 4G build quality is amazing and dev support will certainly be there.
I'm looking to get an S2, Amaze or Sensation depending on how much funds I have.
You can get an sensation forb230-300. Amaze and s2 for 300-400
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Sensation...upgrade? Please child. Anywho I would go for either sII nexus maybe even the one s(as long as it doesn't use nvidia chip)
I was considering the Sensation at one point, but I kept hearing things plaguing the device like a touchscreen that stops working.
Can't have a phone that doesn't work.
the sensation is an AMAZING device.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Sensation is great but it's really not a huge step up over the G2X. If you want a real step up you will want the SII or GNex or Amaze4G....I would pass on the One S unless you really want the camera.
Thread basically says it all. I've got a G2x, rooted running Paranoid overclocked. Have been very happy with it for about a year. I've been in the market for a new phone and I was really surprised at the prices I found for this phone compared to similar ones (GSII, GNex, etc). I'd probably spend about $150 cash + $200 I get for my G2x. Is it worth the investment?
Wait for htc era 42.
