This was a while back but I wanted to install Tiamat's rom on my wifi xoom. well they had instructions on how to do it even though they only had a 3g rom out. so I basically had to install the 3g software on here. how do I change it back to wifi software? I completely lost the instructions
At this time I would recommend just moving to the wifi Team EOS ICS rom. No reason really to stick with HC anymore. The ICS roms are great.

So I got bored of the whole ICS and JB revolution and decided to go for some good old fashioned Gingerbread love, so I went to the cyanogen site and downloaded CM 7.2, but since then my wifi isn't working but cellular data works, wifi just connects and stays put, doesn't work, even tried changing the regulatory channels but no luck, any idea? Please help
It's working fine for me on CM 7.2, so there's most likely an issue with your setup. Sometimes coming from ICS back to GB, requires a couple of wipes.

Wiped and Installed twice, still wont work.
I just ordered a recertified Verizon 3G Xoom, and I didn't think about the implications of it being a Verizon device. This is NOT upgraded to 4G LTE -- will the "Stingray" builds of the various ROMS still work? Is there any way to apply WIFI-only ROMS (including stock) if I don't care about the 3G working? Given the age of the device I really want to get Jelly Bean on it.
I will need to cancel this order ASAP if the answers to these questions turn out to be "no"...
Same question from me.
Can we install the WiFi only version of ROMs (CM9 in particular) onto a Verizon 3G Xoom and have it work for everything EXCEPT the 3g? I could honestly care less about ever activating it on Verizonas long as WIFI works.

From reading a bit in the Development sub-forum, it looks like there's a JB leak for the VZW version, and either version (WIFI Only or VZW) of the EOS 3 ROM should work. I think I will keep my order.

Thanks. I'm placing my order as soon as Wife says OK. If you don't mind, and if you remember, please send me a PM of how it goes with the flashing once to get yours.
Would love to coordinate what we do since there doesn;t seem like a whole lot of certainty exists about what we are trying to do.
I'm probably just going to flash the EOS 3 WIFI Only version. According to one of the devs, it should work fine:

But I will try to remember to let you know how it goes.

Any luck? I also have a Xoom 3G MZ600 on the way and could careless about 3G...
hasnt eos got jellybean roms for all versions of the xoom? 3g should work imo
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I'm in the same boat and curious to see if anybody has any words of wisdom. I love my refurbed Xoom 3G but am eager to get JB on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
FWIW everything I have heard/read seems to indicate that it is possible to flash WiFi only ROMs on the 3G Xoom, and apparently everything will work fine except for the 3G (naturally). I haven't taken the plunge yet myself, still running stock ICS.
Is there any word on whether the Verizon 3G Xoom will get Jelly Bean?
It can be done....
I purchased a used 3g Xoom around Apr 2012. After initially unlocking / rooting and installing a ROM (EOS) on my 3g Xoom, the 3G radio wasn't working so I started fresh. I locked the device and SBF'd the original Xoom firmware, then used the official over the air (OTA) upgrades to get back to stock ICS. I thought this might fix the 3g issue; it did nothing.
EOS Roms overclock the GPU by default, which caused problems with my (and my wife's Wifi version) Xoom. My only requirements for a ROM are stability, no clutter from dumb carrier installed applications, compatibility, and of course root access. I found a pre-rooted stock Jellybean rom, but it was for the Wifi Xoom. It worked great on my wife's though; and heard rumors that it could work with mine.
*SO*...I took a leap of faith and installed it. It works great. No 3g radio of course, but I gave up on trying to get that to work anyway...so if you don't care about losing your 3g , this will probably work for you. I don't think my 3g will ever work, but I suspect this won't ruin yours if it is currently working. Don't hold me to that; this is a risk.
Random notes and refresher info:
-you will need an SD card. I'm pretty sure the following instructions will only work if you use one.
-If at any point you get the android guy with an orange exclamation point during boot...it is probably ok, just let it sit there for a couple minutes. it should continue to boot into whatever ROM you are currently on. Make sure you enable usb debugging in settings after boot.
-to access RSD, Recovery, or Fastboot mode, press and hold your power button to start the Xoom booting. When you see the Motorola logo, wait a second then press the volume down button. Then you can use volume down again to cycle through your options, and use volume up to choose one.
-the exact differences between RSD / Fastboot and Recovery modes are beyond the scope of this post (and me) so just know that your Xoom can be modified using software on your PC via USB with RSD and Fastboot modes, and stock recovery can be replaced with modified versions to add more functionality. Recovery is used to do all sorts of things...flash Roms, mount drives, format, cleanup caches, etc.

General instructions. Just guidelines; you will probably need some previous experience with computers / rooting etc.
(If you are already unlocked, rooted, and have a replacement recovery, skip to the last step.)
1.) Follow this guide to prep your Xoom: (unlocking, rooting, and install CWM recovery)
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/motorola-xoom-development/15179-how-rookie-rooting-flashing-unrooting-under-one-roof.html
Note: you may have heard of Lord AOI tool; it is supposedly designed to simply the above process. I found it didn't work well and was more difficult to use than good ol' adb commands. I recommend skipping it.
2.) OPTIONAL: Next, I recommend using the latest Rogue recovery. Just use standard CWM recovery to flash it. It is nice because it allows you to use the touchscreen to manipulate instead of having to use the hardware buttons (volume buttons are kind of a pain). See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235170
3.) Finally, flash the pre-rooted stock Jellybean ROM. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796335
(here's the direct ROM link for those not needing instructions or extra info: http://www.mediafire.com/?7w5w65l66hgggo8 )
Good luck and let us know your results...
Well, it won't let me post in the official thread so I'm forced to put it here.
I recently installed the Team EOS Jelly Bean nightly (Stingray MZ602) their gapps, and reflashed the ICS radio as recommended using Rogue Recovery. Things have been working well except the WiFi. It tends to cut out randomly. It will be connected yet not transmit or receive. I have to turn it off and on frequently in order for it to work. No, it's not the router or my network. I am hoping for a solution other than going back to ICS.
First thing I would do is to full wipe and format /system
And flash twrp recovery that is advised as stable flasher.
Then redownload the ROM and gapps and make sure check sum is OK,
Then flash and reboot.
This way, you would id the source of your issue, ROM bug or recovery flasher? Cuz I know other guys face no issues like yours with twrp. Worth to try. Good luck.
The twrp page hasn't been updated since April and the project itself hasn't been updated since October of 2011. How can you be sure that it'll work with the radio zip better than Rogue? Or even the Team EOS JB build?
Twrp is advised by team eos. They asked to use it. And you need twrp for Xoom,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28988754
Installation method 4 thru goo manager.
I remember one of the stingray users had an issue with the radio flashing and it went great with twrp.
Good luck.
Didn't work. I still have to reset the WiFi every 5 minutes or so. Also, the twrp recovery takes a LOT longer to load than Rogue's. Almost thought it wasn't going to work for a bit until the 'curtain' finally rose.
Over 24-hour bump...
Just put on EOS 138 and reflashed the radios after going back to Rogue. Still radio issues with WiFi. Found some other threads detailing that Jelly Bean in general seems to have WiFi issues. As much as I hate it, I'm starting to think that I will have to 1) revert to ICS, 2) wait for an updated radio file, or 3) deal with it.

I always have that problem with their roms. Flash a kernel, thats always helped my situation.
Also I have zero issues with wifi on JB with my GNexus, N7, Infuse and Atrix. Its not JB, at least not as far as I have seen. Granted none are stock.
Which kernel would you recommend?
Also, until JB I have not had this issue with EOS builds.

I flashed Eos 138 last night (was on CNA), without doing the radios, nor a kernel, and didn’t have any problems.
The Eos forum states that it has the kernel baked into the rom, so flashing the kernel is likely redundant.
However, for ****s and giggles I tried flashing the Eos 3.0.15 kernel and it would not flash, but I was able to flash the Eos 3.0.5 kernel instead and it took. I haven’t seen any issues, either before or after the kernel flash, so perhaps you should try re-flashing the entire rom sans radios and see what happens.
One of the nice things about the Xoom is its pretty easy to fix anything you could do to it via ADB and fastboot, so try some different combos, or start all the way over (from stock). If that doesn’t help, try a different JB rom and see if you get the same problem.
Also make sure you are flashing the right rom, there are several variants for the Xoom - 3G, 4G, Euro, and of course wifi only.
Just flashed CM10 and the non-EOS gapps without flashing radios. Running on WiFi for about 20 minutes so far without issue. Will try more testing later today.
EOS 4 & Kindle
Thanks EOS for 4.2.1! Feels like most things are working...except Kindle locks up on start-up. Just sayin'....
Hoping someone can help here.
I have a TF101G (the 3G version of TF101). ASUS stock ROM works fine apart from the usual annoying problems with reboots and hangs. So I've tried a few custom 3G ROMs and Kernels.
Revolver (latest 3G) installs OK, but 3G doesn't connect - no APNs and can't add any, Search Network Operators fails with an error and Settings / About Tablet shows Baseband as Unknown. RaymanFX's new [DEV][WiP][3G/GSM] JellyBean for the TF101G - same deal. Everything seems to work except 3G.
Android Revolution HD 3.4.3 3G works fine which is great, but I'd like to try some others.
When I flash Stock or ARHD, on first boot it goes into setup with my location correctly preset to New Zealand. Neither Revolver nor JB seem to know where I am, and I'm wondering whether this has anything to do with the 3G not working.
I'm new to this, and to this forum so don't yet really know what I'm doing or have enough posts to be allowed to post in the Developer's area, so I'm hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction to get 3G working on either of these ROMs.
Thanks.
Having the same exact issue here
My one X on sense rom is great with network, wifi connect instantly, no problems.
However when I flash AOKP roms (roms that i prefer, so much faster) it has network problems.
When i'm at home, it seem fine. but during travel it can't keep up tracking network. I would lose data signal and sometime cell signals as well.
I thought it was my phone, I went thru 3 One x already and all the same
I flashed with twrp btw.
is there like something I'm missing? flashing certain radios or wifi fix?
i flash EVITA_3.18_for CM10.zip which works well
sorry im new, where can i find it, and i flash that before or after my rom selection
[Radio][RIL]HOXL Radios/RILs including CM10.x based ROMs (Flashable zips)
really sorry one more time. lol. I'm an idiot, and I just saw ur signature video haha
i'm flashing liquid jelly bean, it's 4.2.2 based, so which radio should I flash?
