All you orienteering fans, gather around, I have a great announcement for you. Not an orienteering fan? No problem, after trying Compass VO along with Virtual Orienteering for Android you will be. I know what you were thinking when saw the app name “Oh boy, not another compass application”. The Android Market is full of compass applications, each having nice features and options. So, why a new one? That’s what I’ve asked the creators of the concept behind Compass VO. The answer is simple: it has some pretty neat features not found on other products that you'll enjoy at max.
What makes Compass VO worth to try?
* Use the popular 1, 2, 3 compass system along with this digital compass, the same as a real compass.
* You can easily use an image of a map as a background. The image can be taken either from the phone’s Gallery or live with in-app integrated camera preview. But this is not all, after loading the map image you can manipulate it to suit your needs: rotate, zoom in and out, pan, everything is at your finger. The background remains saved and you can always update it, even after application is reopened.
* Uses internal magnetic field and accelerometer sensor combined with GPS and wireless networks to offer accurate information. This allows you to choose if you want to use the magnetic heading or the true heading. All received information is available, depending on chosen theme.
* Compass dial for target bearing and/or orienteering.
* Multiple themes (Orienteering, Digital, Compass Rose, Mango graphics, Night, Android, many to come in the future) for each user's taste, maybe you like a light theme or maybe a darker one... or why not the special Green robot theme
* No annoying ads, no pop-ups, no interruptions, no user spying.
I tried to keep permissions as few as possible. As you will see no “suspect” permissions like access your personal data or internet connection. So the ones that are needed are as follows:
- Camera: used only on your request, with preview in order to take a photo of a map
- Access fine location: used to calculate the Geographic North and offer Magnetic declination.
- Wake lock: used to keep the screen on all the time. This is an option in Settings, but keep in mind that it uses a lot of battery.
As a side note, please keep in mind that the accuracy of magnetic sensors in android powered devices is very variable. Based from manufacturer to manufacturer this can vary from pretty good accuracy to an unreliable one. You can always try to calibrate by holding the phone in front of you and moving it in a Figure-8 pattern, to see if it improves.

Troubleshooting :
The accuracy of the app is partly dependent on your phone's hardware( Magnetic Field sensor).If you are getting inaccurate results, chances are the problem is with the device.
★ This app receives data directly from the sensor, if results are wrong, it is dependent on the device.
★ If results are inaccurate, please check if you are being affected by a magnetic field due to metals and equipment.
★ Inaccuracy can also be caused by the presence of Magnets on Phone/Tablet Covers.

The app uses Network (and GPS) location manager which is a part of GAPPS...
Try to download an appropriate Gapps package..
Let the device detect your location or pinpoint your own location manually on the map, which lets you achieve maximum location accuracy when the device unable to detect your location, and also lets you perform a nearby search around any place you choose.

I've started to develop Algeo way back when I was in college studying engineering. Builtin calculator apps lack many features one needs in advanced math: variables, complex numbers, predefined constants, graphing. So I decided to build my own, and over the years I've added more and more features. It has basic calculus support now, builtin constants to speed up calculations and effective graphing.
It also has a nicely formatted input mechanism that displays formulas similar to LaTeX, instead of squeezing everything into a single line (see the screenshots below). I've found it much easier to understand when you have nested divisions and square roots.

I've just released version 2.17! The biggest new feature, requested by many, is displaying graphs with polar coordinates. Until now, only cartesian plots could be drawn but there are many other type of plots (side note: I plan to include parametric functions as well in the future). With polar coordinates, you can draw spirals and circles as well. To switch between cartesian and polar coordinates, click on the top right button in the graph input screen.

I just wanted to send an updat, since December several minor version were released. These were mostly small bugfixes, for example sometimes after a parentheses power was placed incorrectly, looking ugly. Also fixed some crashes.
We have introduced an UI change that lets you easier call copy&paste options. Unfortunately, we have so far mixed reviews. If you have any comments on it, we would like hear it!
There is a new version on the play store! Aside from many small bugfixes, a new feature arrived to graphing: it is possible to make the axes always visible on the screen. This is useful if you are inspecting values away from the origin. Also, you can pull the keyboard down so more of the history is visible (this was actually in an earlier release but I forgot to mention it before )
