I have a broken Screen on a Activated Evo, and another one that is fine but bricked. Am I safe to take the guts out of the broken screen and put them in the unactivated one and stay away from a screen replacement?
Seems it could work in theory. Would like some feedback before attempting.

Wrong forum...
Hitting the thanks button is soo much easier than typing thanks!
I'm sure there's someone on this forum with the ability to answer this question.
Not answering a question is easier than giving a dumb answer.
Thanks.

Sparksco is correct, but be that as it may. Yes you should be able to do that with no issue. Should just need to switch the Mother Boards, from the good one to the unactivated one. But just in case you wanted to try a screen replacement is no big. THIS YouTube vid is good. So is the one HERE. Hope it helps, best of luck .
There were two hardware revisions, as long as they are the same, should work. I think one was NovaTek or something.

I just thought this was worth sharing.
I own an MT4G. In my year of having it I have gone through 6 replacements.
None with the SO Type 2 Panel.
Tonight (actually 10 minutes ago) I just got back from buying my wife an MT4G.
It has a cracked digitizer but otherwise works just fine.
The touch screen is still responsive in every corner and every side.
Even where it's cracked. I got this phone for 30 bucks. 30....
My wife now has a MT4G with a superior screen. SO Type 2.
FML!
P.S. She won't switch with me even though she doesn't see the difference.
She just knows that I want it, she has it, I don't have it and that's the way she likes it.

Haha indeed.
Lol dude that's funny.
Just buy a new digitizer to replace that broken one. Then fix your wife's phone.
Then do the magical switcharoo. She won't tell the difference, lol.

Yeah I'm trying to find one now for it. Been watching some videos trying to get a handle on it.
How do you know if you have the superior screen?

There's a thread under "General" that shows you how to find out.
A rooted way and an unrooted way.
Search "bad display" in the "General" forum.
Are you rooted or unrooted?
Rooted . Ill look into it

All you gotta do is turn off the phone (make sure fastboot is off)
then boot in to bootloader.
Hold volume down and press the power button. Hold it until you see the bootloader screen.
Go down to system info and look for something along the lines of SH-C2 or SO-C2.
SO is superior, SH is not.
Good luck.
I got the lcd so c2 lol now I know mine is good

Awesome. But wait til you see the difference then you'll REALLY know.
I swear even with a broken digitizer on my wife's phone my phone can't even compare.
My lady would do the same exact thing.

i have the SH version, honestly i cant see anything wrong with my screen. iv compared it to other android phones and it is brighter and more defined, (evo g2, varius others) so idk maybe i need to really compare the two, btw my lady would trade with me
Yea I have the good screen and one of my family members got the phone, and I immediately noticed that they had got the bad screen. I was like...... . Seriously the difference is great

Saturation? Color? Contrast?
30 bucks... can it be any cheaper?
The screen is just seriously washed out in comparison. I don't want to use any terms incorrectly, so im just gonna keep it at that.

I went through several bad screens before getting a good one, and wife still has the bad one. I was checking out my friend's Sensation and immediately noticed that he has the bad screen. Apparently HTC is still shipping both screens even on their latest models. Will definitely be cautious if I go with another HTC phone after this.
I'm expecting my 2nd MT to arrive tomorrow.
If I haven't seen the bad screen, would I even know something is off? Like if my first phone had a bad screen and the new one does to, would I even guess that there's a problem?
I mean do you have to see a good and bad one side by side to know the difference?
Or is it like watching HDTV for years then trying to watch a show on an old 1920's black and white?
So I dropped my Inspire and the screen is shattered, but it still works basically. I'm waiting for the replacement screen to come in. I've replaced an iPhone screen and battery before, but the videos for this one leave me feeling very shaky about trying it. Anyone ever done it? Looks sorta easy but the videos talk it like it's hard. Plus, they do it differently.

Not sure about him, but based on most comments I recommend getting the Screen with the digitizer attached. It'll run you more money, but it's easier to pull out the entire broken thing than to pry apart broken bits of glass from delicate hardware without breaking something even more.
This didn't apply to me. My screen shows fine. The touch isn't responding. I've read too many posts already. They all pointless, as they don't apply. As stated: I already replaced the glass. I didn't miss a step. I've reposted the process 4 times, and I can't get it to work. The touch isn't responding.

I'm so sorry. This isn't the post I thought it was. I posted somewhere else about my results. It's been a long weekend. I replaced the screen (glass only) but now the touch doesn't work. Gonna just replace the phone. I've reposted the procedure four times. I miss my iPhone. Fixing it was EASY compared to this

Hey there.
I noticed a bunch of you are possibly getting a different phone. If you plan on getting a different phone, we want it.
Some of you have broken phones.
I am looking for an sgs4g to totally rip apart for scientific reasons. I want to try my hands at making a reversed engineered schematic.
If the phone works great, it will be a lame demise... but if it totally doesn't turn on, has a broken screen, is already kinda smashed. I don't care! Send it to me!
Let me know.
This thread is only for serious offers to let me have your phone to rip it apart. This will only help our community.
If you are not serious and are looking to just say things or whatever off-topic, I will have the moderator delete your post.
Thanks!
Question: Are you asking for them to be donated or are you purchasing them?
Edit: This thread is only for serious offers to let me have your phone to rip it apart.
Sorry.
I have a Galaxy S 4G with a Vibrant screen and camera.
So hardware wise, it's a Galaxy S 4G, lookwise, it looks like a Vibrant. (Except for the backcover.)
I'll consider donating it.

Right, this is going to go 2 steps further then a tear down.
I want to desolder chips from the board. This is not reversible. I cannot put the chips back on. The board will be hosed afterwards.
I will pay for shipping.
Does raver still have the sgs4g he baked? That would be a great candidate.

Been to a beach last week, had my phone in my pants, forgot it, got it all wet and its not functioning right now. Lost my warranty. guys over samsung say it will take about Rs.5000. So i brought it back home, opened it up, and geez the motherboard was all messed up with, i dunno, white stuff . I washed both the board and the display (that was silly, but i had nothing to lose anyway) I brushed it clean. and it actually started working! just the mother board. Washing the display unit (or whatever its called) was a big mistake. Now I can hear sounds, but no touch response or display. So i think its beyond repair . I have to replace it anyway now.
So that the story. But what I am confused about is. the phone is QVGA. What if i connect the motherboard to the display unit of some HVGA phone like the Ace. and maybe if i flash an HVGA rom too, somehow :silly:. Will it actually work? or is there more to it? Dumb question maybe. But i think you guys can help out....

Shattered dreams .. anyways, thanks a lot for replying so soon!
I bought a Galaxy S Glide (I think the same as the Blaze) from an outlet in Hong Kong on import from Canada (on boot it says "Rogers" so I can assume it's from Canada).
After using it for a week it suddenly stopped using the network and said that I need a lock code.
I went back to the shop where I bought it and they said they couldn't do anything immediately and would I like a replacement, which seemed like a nice thing to do.
However, after a couple of days I notice a glitch on the screen happen a couple of times.
I refused to believe it was a big problem (because it was my new phone right!) within a week the screen started to totally crash to the point that it would freeze in the boot up process.
You can see a picture attached of how the screen looks after I managed to do a hard reset.
When it starts to go like this, you cant do anything with it.
The guy at the shop wont change it or refund it, he claims I dropped it.
Samsung Hong Kong don't support it because it's from Canada and the only shop that knows what to do with it is the guy that sold it to me.
I'm taking the guy to the small claims court, but I'd rather have a fixed phone.
Any ideas please?
That's not the Blaze but seems like a mytouch I have that got water damaged and the screen started turning off when I pulled out keyboard. So check that if not maybe screen is messing up or a connector perhaps

Check the model number under the battery also check the while stickers to see if they are red because if they are activated the. The phone is water damaged and is probably hardware detective
