I am stuck in a strange problem. I have LG P500 which i have rooted with superoneclick and it is rooted now. I have 2.3.3 V20d (India) which i upgraded a year back.
Now the problem is that according to everyone mine is a new baseband but when i use Rom Manger to install custom recovery it shows my phone but in brackets it says 'old BB'..There were just two options, one was my phone and the other to click the box down if my device is not shown in the above list. I am stuck as can't find any solution and i am a newbie.I did ask some senior members and contributors/devs and waiting for the help,so i thought i will post it here also in case someone has faced this problem before.
Screen capture attached as well.....Just do not know where to go from here. Thanks a lot
MORE INFO: I just downloaded XDA ASSISTANT app to check and in software section it mentions about baseband also. The reading is: V07u-000-000 (MAR-23-2009). Can't say if it is of any help

and yes that is your phone lg p500 old bb, it doesn't matter, RomManager doesn't discover your phone, it is just a list that you have to choose

Are you sure it doesn't matter? But why would Rom Manager mention that? That means it is misleading the user and the user can think esp a newbie that his is a old baseband therefore he will not go with the new baseband and land in trouble.

My advice: don't use Rom Manager to install a custom recovery (or even a Rom); there have been many reports of people bricking their devices that way. A safer way of installing a recovery would be to use LGMDP or adb/fastboot -- instructions should be in a sticky somewhere; I can't search for it at the moment since I'm on mobile. Anyway, good luck.
Edit: Corrected typo -- it's LGMDP.

Well, I know that I spent a few days reading the sticky threads before I rooted my phone, but even then I managed to softbrick it for a couple of days (though it was sort of my fault, since I was using Linux at the time and all the instructions were for Windows, so I had to improvise). You shouldn't need to read every thread, though -- just the stickies should do.
Anyway, regarding Rom Manager, there's a warning in this thread (post #2) not to use it to install a recovery since the CWM version isn't compatible with our devices. As for a recovery you should use, I strongly recommend AmonRa 3.0.6 for a stable and bugfree recovery.
Edit: Just FYI, I installed my recovery using ADB and fastboot. It was quick and easy, the hardest part was installing the LG drivers and ADB (via installing the Android SDK).

RomManager doesn't suport anymore old phones like O1, that's why it appears with old bb, anyway, allot of ppl flash first time recovery with RomManager, and because it is first time, there must be some fails, not all made it first time, and RomManager is to blame ?? no, worked for me, worked for milions and for a few thousants didn't, and it depends by allot of things but in most cases the people are to blame

No, don't use ROM Manager. 3 years ago when @grigtm used it, it was fine. These days, however, the CWM version in ROM Manager is incompatible with our device. You will risk bricking your phone if you use ROM Manager. Personally, I advise against it.
As for the Android Flash Recovery program that was linked earlier, I haven't used it personally, but it seems easy enough to use. Just
1. Download Android Flash Recovery
2. Install the LG drivers (it's packaged with the program in a subfolder called "USB")
3. Enable USB debugging on your phone (Settings > Applications > Development > check USB debugging)
4. Start your phone in Fastboot Mode.
5. Connect your phone to the PC.
6. Start Android Flash Recovery and follow the instructions.
Confused

This is the first step after rooting.Ok
Fastboot mode is Home + Power i just have to do that? Like in rom manager we could do backup of stock can we do all that also with this?
Actually i read at two places how to go step by step, when to backup, going into recovery and wiping & reset the phone then again into recovery and navigate to the zip file of the rom and extract. But i do not know if it is same with Android flash recovery.
New Words For Me...........OMG why i came here hehehe

There is absolutely no need to learn all of the language, especially when you're just starting out. It's enough in the beginning to just follow instructions, and only go into the details of the Android environment later as you gain more experience. No one becomes an expert overnight, after all.
As for the terms I used... FYI simply means "for your information", nothing to do with Android at all. ADB is the Android Debug Bridge, and like the name implies, it's like the "bridge" that connects your PC to your phone. Any desktop-based program or tweaking tool that communicates with your phone most likely uses ADB (such as SuperOneClick, which you used previously). Fastboot is one of the debugging modes available on the P500. There's no need to concern yourself with exactly what it does (and explaining it in detail is beyond the scope of this post); you simply need to know how to enter that mode when the instructions call for it. Basically, what I'm saying is that you don't need to understand things in detail, you just need to follow instructions. All the instructions you need are in the stickies; for now, ignore anything else that's not there (it'll only confuse you).
The LG Mobile United driver should work. If it doesn't simply install the other drivers.
Thanks alot for the concern

I really appreciate your concern for the safety of my phone. Thanks a lot.
Actually i was to read and follow the instruction as you told but since yesterday i was having headache coz of this and it was severe this morning and still can't open one eye heheehe Anyway i went with the Rom Manager coz of this even though it showed my phone as old BB.It was flashed in less than a minute. Then i switchd off the phone to enter into recovery by holding down Home Button + Volume Down + Power Button(button to switch off) but phone just reboots normally,no recovery set up. The thread i am following for instructions at XDA's How to's says i should not boot into recovery from thr rom manager and use only the buttons combination. But it is not happening, can you help in this?
Thanks again

Q&A for [RECOVERIES][P31xx] TWRP | PhilZ Touch | CWM
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [RECOVERIES][P31xx] TWRP | PhilZ Touch | CWM. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.

Encryption using older TWRP (until 2.8.1.1)
I just tried the first time to encrypt my Tab. I read about errors people faced before, so here's a small guide how to go on:
Backup all important stuff! We need to format the device!
Make sure using my TWRP 2.8.1.1
Wipe -> Advanced Wipe:
Cache
Dalvic
System
Data
Wipe -> Format Data -> Type yes to confirm
This is the most important step! It will keep some space for the footer! Without that encryption is not possible!

Install TWRP over CWM.
Hello everybody! please help me. i'm a new user android. !
Plz tell me how to install TWRP 2.8.4.0 over CWM 6.0.5.1 [Galaxy tab 2 P3110]? because i'm in Omni 4.4.4 nightly rom and it required TWRP for system update.
Give me a step ! thank everybody for support !
Just flash TWRP.zip through your present recovery or TWRP.tar via Mobile Odin. You can use also standard Odin to do that. All you need is to download proper version of TWRP and check it's md5 signature. It's hard to mess up with this.
If you need a step-by-step guide just search. There are plenty of them in this forum, on YouTube, everywhere.

Short answer: No - these recoveries are for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, in case you missed in which forum section you are.
Long answer: No matter if it is ClockworkMod Recovery, TWRP, PhilZ Touch or whatever else, you need a version of the recovery that is tailored to the device onto which you want to install it. Reason being that each and every device uses a totally different NAND partitioning as well as a totally different boot-loading process, hence why the recovery needs to be made to match the device in question. That being said: You can always look at the official websites of the recoveries to try and see if they offer one for your device - or - if there's a forum for your device around here on XDA you best look there to obtain required intel (availability of a custom recovery and releated installation procedure) - or - if there's no forum (i.e. no interest from developers or too "exotic" or too locked down to get a custom recovery going) you can always browse through the "General" forums where some developer may post the one or another recovery or custom ROM for some device where there's no forum assigned to it.

"BEX errors" as in "I start the application. it crashes and Windows shows me a window about some 'BEX Problem Event'" or as in "ODIN actually starts but as soon as I click something it crashes and shows me something about a 'BEX Problem Event'"?
This is not ODIN causing the problem (most likely), this is Windows having a problem - and the bad news is that BEX errors are insanely hard to track down (Google for "Windows BEX error" and be amazed by the sheer amount hits and things (ranges from games to professional program suites). While ODIN shouldn't really require any "external dependency" chances are you could miss some DLL file ODIN tries to load (i.e. some DLL out of the Microsoft VisualC++ 20xx runtime) or you have some offending DLL/Driver installed on your system that causes the crash and so on. There are almost inifinite possibilities why it happens.
EDIT: It could actually be helpful if you would include the information the "application crash" shows you instead of going "gives me BEX errors" ... good problem solving starts by the one wanting to have a problem resolved giving as much information, related to the problem, as somehow possible and not just giving three words to describe the thing that happens. /EDIT
In general: In the past I used ODIN (to stick to the "Galaxy Tab 2" at hand: with this I always successfully used ODIN 3.07 once downloaded from "SamMobile" along with the "Samsung USB Driver 1.5.23.0" driver package - "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_v1.5.23.0-retail.exe") on Windows 7 and/or Windows 8.1, both x64 Editions, without any problems - so it should actually work given your Windows installation is well.
Unless someone already had that problem and found a fix I'd say your best bet would be to take your question/problem to a forum where it's all about Windows and not about Android or ODIN as the problem is with Windows - and post back a "how to fix" in case you manage to get it resolved.
Sorry for the bad news, but "BEX" problem events are a pain in the rear to track-down and resolve.

Hello all Mediapad users.
[EDIT 23-05-2015]Found something that may or may not me a sham. My device being bricked and all, I can't check it out, so I leave it up to you guys.
Check out this site. [/EDIT]
This marks the first step to a whole slew of development and such for our devices.
First and foremost:
i)This is an Alpha project, meaning that nothing is finalised; bug reports, reviews, constructive comments and truckloads of dedication are needed. NOT for the faint of heart.
ii)I need all the help I can get for this project. Any developer is welcome to take the files I upload, work on them in any way necessary, notify me of errors... you get the point
iii)I am in no way responsible for any damage, physical or otherwise, that may happen to anything or anyone as a result of following any instructions I or anyone else may post on this thread.
That having being said, I'll upload the files now, and create a guide soon. If you beat me to it, feel free to take all the credit.
There are two files.
original_recovery is, as the name suggests, the original recovery i pulled from the device itself.
alpha_recovery is the one I got from the cwm recovery builder, and is to be the basis of all future builds.

I'll contact huawei and get them to help me with unloking the bootloader
Thanks again
[Update]
No commmunication from Huawei, not even to confirm they received my email.
Therefore, either we are on our own, or huawei is taking uncommonly long to communicate.
[/Update]
BTW, does fastboot oem unlock work for anyone?
Also, can someone post how to set up rhe fastboot for this device?
I haven't the time to do it myself

None yet.
The brick wall is the fact that the boot loader is locked, and huawei won't tell us how to unlock it. I've emailed them twice already, and have received no response.
Until huawei decides to help, we're stuck.
@Kris the wizz 15
any further progress for this device..?
Thanks.
Not yet no, as huawei remains remarkably unhelpful, and without them, we can't progress
For bow we're confined to root tweaks, nothing more.
@Kris the wizz 15
any new development..?

Possible solution
I was digging around online, and found out that its actually quite easy. There's a catch though.
The various methods support many rockchip versions(that's what our device chip set is) except the one our device has, the rk3168.
Now, the rk3188 is supported, and is the closest number wise to our chip set.
Apparently, all we have to do is get the recovery.fstab from our stock recovery, and replace the one in the cwm build with it.
I'm going to let you guys go crazy with this, as I can't work on it myself right now (IGCSEs)
Links below.
For the 3188 cwm builds:
http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/rk3188/
For the thread where I found the helpful recovery.fstab tip (try the generic one first):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578563
Good luck people!!
Some Possible Progress!!

Hello all Mediapad users.
Today marks the first step to a whole slew of development and such for our devices.

Well, as we all know, this project has been dead in the water for forever now. What if, though, I told you there may be hope after all?
While browsing the net, I came across a few articles, which, when combined, may actually be the way forward for our aging device.
I won't go into much detail, but it involves porting a CWM made for the RK3188 chip (our device has a RK3168 chip). The idea of porting came from this thread.
Learn more about this whole process here. Make sure to download the Generic ramdisk-only image, or just grab it directly here.
Credit goes to Androtab, and to all those unnamed commenters who put the idea in my head.
Go crazy guys, and be sure to post ANY PROGRESS, so we can all enjoy it!
I'm sorry that for the next three weeks, I personally cant work on this, as I'm in the middle of an exam session.
Hope this works:fingers-crossed:. Good luck all. Please drop a thanks if this helps you!
Keep tight, Kris.

That's your key, which you can use in order to unlock the bootloader.
However, every huawei device has it's own key, which means that this code won't work for others.
Also, I'm going to try to port TWRP to this device, as it isn't easy to find a device with the same chipset as ours. Otherwise, I'll try building from source.
Will make an attempt next week, when I've replaced my digitizer.
I have a Droid RAZR HD (unfortunately accepted the OTA update long ago) and I just wanted to confirm (and get info on how to resolve this problem if my research thus far has given the the incorrect perception that this isn't possible.)
There is no way to root without unlocking the bootloader, correct?
And, https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b is the only way to unlock the bootloader? It says it isn't possible for my phone.
I lost all the pictures of my son's birthday (hadn't backed them up yet, happened just a few days ago) when my phone unexpectedly went through the initial setup (wiped internal memory) procedure (oddly enough while just in my pocket while hiking). Was hoping to recover the pictures using some of the guides I've found online, but su access appears to be required
I tried the info in this thread, which lead me to unlocking the bootloader, which is where I am now stuck...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943851
I've been holding off on setting my phone back up (connecting to employer email, as well as installing other apps, etc) as I'm still holding out hope that I can recover them (and I dont want to overwrite the data on the storage in case they can be recovered still somehow.)
PS: This is the INTERNAL storage, not an external SD card (that I could just plug in to computer and use Recouva, etc to recover them.)
I cannot confirm that getting root access will allow you to recover your pics, but it certainly may.
I can certainly confirm that, yes, you can get root access on your phone, without unlocking the bootloader. You cannot unlock the bootloader, but that's not necessary for root.
Let me dig up the correct threads, and I'll post them here in a few minutes.

As instructed in this post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-hd/general/root-droid-razr-hd-xt926-183-46-15-t3062040
I started from the instructions where it says "Flashing Firmware if Root fails ". However, the links for the XT926 firmware downloads are all dead. I can search for my own link (maybe?) But it seems unwise as I have no idea as to how reliable any other link I happen to stumble across may be. Also, the link to how to do it via RSD Lite is dead as well.
Thoughts, advice?

In the post I linked you to originally, I included the new address of the RSD Lite article. That's why I linked what I did instead of sending you to sd_shadow's post directly.
You should be able to find the MD5 hash for the firmware file listed somewhere reliable, if it's not in the article already. If you find that same file elsewhere and download it, you can use any one of a number of MD5 utilities to get the hash and compare it to the original. Any modification to the file, no matter how small, will make an enormous difference in the hash, so if they match you can trust it.
A million thank yous!
Just successfully finished root, now on to recovery of pics (if possible.)
A million thank yous for getting me this far! I'll post with results of recovering images, in the event that any others are interested in how it goes.
I just bought the LYF Wind 1 Smartphone and couldn't find a proper way to root it, so I made up my weird way, which works perfectly fine and I'm sharing it with you guys..
Steps :-
Download Wind1Root.zip (mod edit: Please use the blue download button and not the green one.)
Extract it
Enable USB Debugging and connect the phone
Run unlock.bat
Enable USB Debugging again after reset
Run root.bat
UPDATE - Recovery replaced. Touch works now. Using Redmi 2 Recovery.

@ Akash : Thanks for your input. Would you kind enough to post a link to fastboot , as ugeeky hosting sever is down. and I dont think the fastboot that I have is working properly. My Laptop is running Windows 10 Insider Preview 10.0.14393 64 bit . I hope it is not a problem .
Thanks again.
this is not working when i start root.bat it stucks up with a blur black screen and nothing happens I had to power off the device and power it back on. but the root did not happen, pls inform me what is the problem.
LeHarkunwar, A Big Thank You for coming up with the Root !! Have got rid of a lot of crap ware and unwanted stuff.
However, the points raised by "Java Baba" and "davinashgandi" deserve some attention. There has to be a tutorial/instructions for flashing stock firmware and stock recovery in the event that things go a little awry. A link to stock firmware and stock recovery with instructions for flashing the same is necessary and would decorate this wonderful work of yours.
Secondly, the twrp recovery is not at all functional when booted into. In such a case, applying incremental updates ( This Morning there is a new 37 MB update available) can soft brick the device.
The Wind 1 community will really appreciate if you can do something about this.
Again, Many Thanks for your superb work !!!

Stock firmware is not modified by this method, and there's no way to backup the stock recovery until we get the factory firmware, for installing any zips to the system, you can always replace the update.zip with the file you want to flash( remember to rename the file you want to flash as update.zip) in the files folder and then run the root.bat file.
Thanks Aakash. Yes, I'm aware that this method doesn't modify stock firmware. The suggestion was made so that people with soft bricked device would be able to revert to stock firmware if anything went wrong.
As for recovery, I managed to download the stock firmware and extracted the stock recovery. I also successfully flashed the stock recovery over twrp. However, the 37 Mb update was aborted due to some mismatch. No idea how to get around this with stock recovery. Yes, it's possible over twrp like you said but I would prefer to apply it through stock recovery.
If only we had a functional custom recovery, things would be even better.
On a side note, has anybody been able to figure the rebranded model and company of Wind 1 ?
---------- Post added at 01:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:15 PM ----------
Ok. I have tried flashing the downloaded update.zip via stock recovery and twrp but no success. I guess the only option left now is via sideload method. And if i'm not wrong then i would lose root if i installed it via adb sideload.
Slightly off topic, the voice Volume of Wind 1 appears low and somewhat muffled. It's not clear and loud like its in my MOTO G. Can fellow users please confirm this. I have also tried the *#4636#* code which opens the testing menu but it's of no use. Need some application or code to access the engineering menu via which we could increase the voice volume.
Hey bro,i am same version of Android on my Lyf wind 1,n I'm glad to have a solution that you came with, I want to upgrade my mobile to marshmallow(stock version), can you please instruct me how can I do that, I'll waiting 4 ur response, thank you

please can someone give me flashing tutorial for lyf wind 1 , my set is dead , its not powering on now ,
@harshad
Please ensure that you have properly installed drivers for LYF Wind 1. To check this, enable USB-Debugging and connect your LYF Wind 1 to PC. You will also get a message on your phone regarding granting authorization to your computer. Click on Yes. If you don't click on yes then you are bound to get the device not found or device offline errors !
While flashing, i got the device not found error a couple of times and i noticed that i hadn't granted authorization to my computer for USB debugging. The authorization window had popped on my mobile and i was too busy looking at my computer screen.
Now, open Device manager on your computer. Click on Scan for Hardware changes. If the drivers are not installed properly then you will see Yellow exclamation marks against your Android phone. Please install the USB drivers for LYF Wind 1. ( Google if you don't have the drivers)
You need to have;
1) ADB and Fastboot installed as Administrator
2) USB drivers for LYF Wind 1 installed
3) Allow OEM Unlocking , enabled via developer options.
4) Enable USB debugging , enabled via developer options.
If all the above things are in order then you shouldn't have any problems rooting LYF Wind 1 with Le Harkunwar's excellent tutorial.

you need to download stock rom and flash that to make your phone work again. I found this site, zeon22 has also listed a site, but i found this to be more user friendly in downloading files.

I also received the update but I'm not interested in updating since my phone is running fine just now, I don't want to loose root or brick my phone while updating which will most probably be more bloatware(few more apps from reliance jio). I will wait if marshmallow arrives for flashing stock rom if it arrives (although chances are pretty slim). Meanwhile I'm working on a port of cyanogenmod for this device form Yu Yunique, the device from which harkunwar got this twrp from, but I'm still not able to resolve touchscreen driver issue. Info on this device is really limited, and i don't know anything except that this device is from zte.
