[Q] Keyboard writing problem - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day,
I have a problem with my transformer.
When I try to write something on a forum or an online email services via the on-screen keyboard or the keyboard dock my letters jump from one place to the other.
Example:
I start writing on the top above an quoted message.
And if I do not look out half my sentence will be inside the quoted message.
Also I had it that the words where written as in the arabic language.
The previous sentence would look like:
language arabic the in as written etc.etc.
I have tried several browsers:
Stock, Firefox, Dolfin
So I know it is not a browser specific problem.
Who knows what is going on, and what I can do to resolve the problem??
(The Transformer is not rooted)

Anybody got any idea??

Just asking basic questions :
Have you tried a factory reset/hard reset?
Are you sure everything is up to date?

prime comes with a few kb options, which are you using? Are you using any after market keyboard?
settings > language and input
Also I do not have the kb dock so can anyone tell me if the dock uses its own firmware (I assume so since keys are fixed), or if it has anything to do with the onscreen kb options.

Transformer is up to date.
It's the original transformer not the prime.
It happens with both the on-screen as the dock keyboard.
Yes dock has it's own firmware and it's also up to date.
I tried multiple keyboard options all have the same problem. (This was my first gues)

Cootek Touchpal, A new input method for WM Device

A new Input Method for Windows Mobile
A quick review
TouchPal is a brand new Input Method for Windows mobile which is pretty fast, accurate and convenient. But what’s best is that it is completely free for download until december 8!
In opposition to other solutions, TouchPal provides a “normal” QWERTY on-screen keyboard, with keys being easy to press with thumbs (animated gif here). In addition to that, the guys behind TouchPal have made switching from uppercase/lowercase really easy and fast: you just have to press and hold the selected letter and swipe up/down to change the case… and this is BRILLIANT!
The same technique is used to input punctuation… Making it (one of) the only input methods available where you don’t have to make a key combination or press twice to input what you are looking for.
Another deal-maker is the speed of this thing: even on an HTC Touch, I was able to get a really decent input speed (read: fast). Fire-up the video below and see by yourself!
However, you have to love the QWERTY keyboard because it’s the only one this solution provides (same goes with the predictive thing, it’s english only). I guess this will be supported somehow in the later releases.
Still, it’s the best input method I’ve used so far on Windows Mobile, and I’ll advise anyone to give it a try!
YouTube Video
Free Download till Dec 08th
Download TouchPal here, and its documentation here.
Interesting idea, but doesnt work.
1. Installed the cab.
2. Soft reset.
3. Click the arrow, get the list of SIPS.
4. Click the TouchPal thingy.
5. Nothing happens (device seems to hang for a second or two).
This is WM6 with the Kaiser.

Did you soft-reset your device? And it is possible that TouchPal is incompatible with some other non-default soft keyboards. My friend got TouchPal work after uninstalling a Chinese keyboard and reinstall TouchPal->Soft-Reset. He decided not to go back to other keyboard, even decide to give up hardware keyboard.
yeap. step 2 there. and i dont have any sips.

do you have password setup for your device? if not, it is worthy of trying setup a password for your device. someone fixed this issue by this approach.
Can't wait
Excellent concept! Tried in on my VGA device. Got an error message saying "can't initiate dictionary" but it launched regardless. Great way to input different characters, especially between upper and lower case characters. I also like the keys to input web addresses!
Great job. Can't wait for a VGA version!

I guess you download wrong cab. "can't initiate dictionary" was a mistake and has been fixed. One of my friend encoutered this issue on several hours ago's build. He downloaded it again, seems that issue has been resolved!
So, you can try to download it again. Soft-reset your device and then install the new cab right after reboot.
BTW, VGA version is available
Great SIP! The only thing I am missing is the swedish characters åäö. I will still use it becouse it works so well.
Does anyone know if it is using the built in dictionary?
OMG i Think this will be my default SIP
On my touch it works fine. But this sip is quite haevy. Does anyone know how to create other dict for it.
i've installed on my touch and jasjar, both are working fine. of course i used the differet installer for qvga and vga.
i've uninstalled pcm keyboard for now.
Custom Words.
Simply edit the engdisct_usr.txt and add the words you want. It can be found under the \Prorgam files\TouchPal\.
In case you use non-english words, It's advisable to select " precise Input Mode" under options.

Oh, great info. I tried and found the dictionary was only loaded after WM reboot. So, adding your words, soft-reset device and then select TouchPal will make your customized words appear.
I can't get it to work. Everytime I select the keyboard under the Input Method in between the softkeys I just get the regular WM6 keyboard. I'm trying this on my Mogul. Any ideas?
SIP Change
Use this SIP Changer. I get the same issue with this SIP.

I installed it to my Kaiser, without issues. Just a detail, the SIP keeps in the screen even when the windows that instantiated it lost the focus. But is working fine.

How to change the hard keyboard to Chinese mapping?

Hi there all, I have searched and read and then searched some more, even on other forums but (probably due to my technological stupidity) I have not found an answer... I need to use Chinese sometimes when emailing or smsing etc and I like to use the hard keyboard if its going to be a long one (amazing how quickly I got to like the qwerty keyboard)... now I have AEKmap so I can quickly change from the English one to a Chinese one (or so I thought) but I find that it does not have a Chinese keyboard listed in the options (just the default and a couple of Russian options). I have CEStar installed and also the d-ear Chinese sip as well as the 10 Key d-ear sip... but still cant find an option to enable the Chinese mapping for the hard keyboard. Am I missing something obvious (all to likely given my skill with tech stuff) or do I need to find a Chinese keyboard map? thanks for any help anyone can offer...
CE star is a solution but it s not free
and the logiciel bug my HTC wizard and Kaiser (hard reset)
Thanks but I already have CEStar but when I slide out the hard Kb it wont let me choose a Chinese layout and I can not type in pinyin... (wont let me choose a sip), would sip change help here?

install CESTAR or A4 pinyin input for Kaiser
then, open up your registry editor
go to HKLM->HARDWARE->DEVICEMAP->KEYBD
change curlang to 0x804
restart your kaiser
slide out your keyboard, the Sym/Tab button should allow u to switch to chinese input (if yours is a Eur/US device)
if yours is a Chinese APAC device, then you should see a chinese character at that button.
the button is on the left of the space bar
I have CEStar and it works perfectly for me. as long as you select the chinese mode, you will be able to eithe type in chinese with the keyboard (slide-out) or type with the stylus (regular)
Ruffruff... thanks for the advice, if I make this regedit will it be chinese layout all the time or can I select between default and Chinese in AEKmap?
Zcsx1985 yeah I sort of worked it out, I had to select the sip in portrait and then when I slid the keyboard out it worked fine...
Actually now that I have done that I can bring up the sip switch thing (little triangle next to the keyboard symbol on the screen) after sliding out the keyboard which I couldnt do before and now its all ok... well so far... cheers

Hi Shadow, how did you get the d-ear sips to work? Any special configurations necessary?
I have not managed to get them to work properly. when i type any messages, it appears right on my kaiser screen but when sent, my client will receive a whole page of question marks.
Did you overcome that issue?

I didnt do anything special, just install and then use... is your clients phone set up to receive Chinese characters cos thats the only reason for them not being able to receive them I can think of.. of course I am not too knowledgeable about such matters so it might be something else... if it is perhaps try uninstalling and then reinstalling... plus I am using a cooked ROM not stock...

I have an English ROM, how can I get Chinese MENU (switchable to English) and Chinese Pinyin input...? Thank in advance....
I'm using a WWE ROM and after I installed CE Star and the input method, it works great without any registry modifications
but one thing that bothers me is everytime I need to open the soft keyboard, press the "Chinese" symbol" once, then I can use the "input switch" button on the hardware keyboard to switch between typing English and Chinese ...
Tony as Kw31 says, CEStar is my main IME and it works fine, only conflicts with MS reader when its in Chinese mode (and also Pleco2 but thats another program)...

Change hardware keyboard and SIP

I installed the rom in my sign as I wanted my phone in full English.
It works great.
I do however want the Swedish keyboard layout for hardware and SIP.
Do anyone have a suggestion on how to do it?
I have tried most of the things that is shown on the forum but none have worked so far. Some of the things I have tested are shown below.

If this is posted in the wrong section I'm sorry for that as I was not sure if this or the software one was the right one for this.

[Q]Auto correct / dictionary

Quick question, is anyone having issues with auto-correct and /or inbuilt dictionary words? This is using the default keyboard, the only suggested words seem to be those relating to contacts etc which suggests only the user based dictonary is working....
Cant recall if this has ever worked so it maybe related to one of the roms im running.
This doesn't seem to be an issue with the Asus keyboard.
Thanks.

For best results, try contacting the author instead of posting on a random web forum ;-)
Have you tried these steps?
http://code.google.com/p/hackerskey..._do_I_activate_Dvorak_/_Arabic_/_..._layouts?
If that doesn't do the job, please contact me (or file a bug), and I can try to see what's going on.
i use multi-lang. the keyboard is really nice and holds the accents too
