I'm trying to troubleshoot an SD card issue, and I don't know if it's the card or the device. I am using a 16GB SD card in my SGS4G, and occasionally when I restart the phone, or more specifically, when it crashes, the SD card gets corrupted. It has now happened three different times, and each time I re-format the card and copy over my last backup. Has anyone else experienced this?
My next step is to fall back to the original 8GB card to see if the problem continues.

i have a 8gb class 2 sd card. When i remove and reinsert the card the card is not read. Even if i put another card it is not read. I have to reboot the phone to amke it work. Any ideas. I reflashed to jf 1.41. Provlem after that.
if this happens with more than one SDcard then i'm guessing it's the phone thats messing up, not the card. in which case, all i can suggest it to take it back to t-mobile and see if they can fix it.
Connected my USB to my phone to do an update. Computer said there was aproblem reading my SD Card, so I unmounted and got a notification in the Notification bar stating SD Card Damage. When I clicked on it, it gave me only one option REFORMAT SD CARD....hit home went to setting, SD Card and it showed no space available, but there was still 52MB of Memory on the phone.
only option higlighted was Format SD Card. Tried plugging SD Card in my card reader and got same error. So I said screw it. I formatted the SD Card from the selection on the G1 and now when i reboot it stays stuck in the first boot screen. It won't do anything else.
I had JFv1.5 ADP A2SD on the phone.
Thinking I may have to buy a new SD Card and then a nandroid recovery.
Any other suggestions before I do that.

I had the same problem...
was sure i needed a new SD card, but i ended up downloading a sd formatting tool (i think it was from panasonics website)... and that got the card back working, no other attempts at low level formatting, re-formatting, any tries to delete partitions, nothing...
the only thing that finally worked was this SD card formatting tool...
you'll sadly probbaly need to reflash your phone, which i also had to do...
but, I did end up with the 1.5 update....

I have a samsung epic on android 2.1. I used to have the sd card damaged problem. I had to backup everyday for fear of losing information. I saw on one forum a note about upgrading to a Class 4 sd card. I went to frys and they only had class 10 in 16gb (about $40). I purchased and I have not had this problem since!!!
Problem: SD Card error
Problem Solved: Trash the Class 2 sd card that came with the phone and get class 4 or higher.
Woohoo!
Hello,
I own an HTC Touch HD. I recently semi-bricked it by flashing a bad rom, switched to an Orbit II - including the 8GB SD card.
In the meantime I flashed a working rom back on my Touch HD, put my SD card back into the Touch HD and switched to that phone again. Everything seemed to be working, until I took a look at the SD card (both through the phone and through "Disk Drive".
However, now the SD card is only listed as a 968MB SD card, with most of the original files gone, and the remaining file/directory names and contents broken.
Now I don't have access to a Micro SD card reader, so I cant access it directly. I was just curious as to whether somebody has an idea how to fix this SD card again, or whether my SD card is broken.
The data on the SD card don't matter - just wanna know whether I should just buy a new SD card
I have found a lot of hits on Google referring to SD card reporting wrong sizes, but those were mostly about reformatting, which is definitely not the issue.
Also examining the SD card with diskpart didn't yield any relevant information.
Is this SD card really broken?
I am not sure if anyone else experiencing this, when i move app to SD card, and restart the phone; all apps are shown not installed. I had to format the SD card one more time on order for the system to show that SD card is mounted; otherwise it will have a error message saying that SD card blank, or have corrupt data on it.
Any advice on how to resolve the issue?
Recently I've notice that my old sd card is slow while copying files from internal, keep on staying in 0mb for several seconds, then continue copying data and stop again for another several seconds, repeating, and i thought is my sd card problem, have it replaced with a new one, same problem, and also with a problem that sometimes I cannot detect my sd card, it said need to format it, but I go to TWRP to repair it, it works, but still sometimes will happen again.
Now I have change the sd card file system format to f2fs, and those problems seems gone, What is the problem?
I do not remember when I got this phone few years back using sd card with ext4 got no such problem, experiencing problems with custom rom also, havoc, evoX, pixel exp....
