[Q] Corrupted SD card? - General Topics

Hello,
I own an HTC Touch HD. I recently semi-bricked it by flashing a bad rom, switched to an Orbit II - including the 8GB SD card.
In the meantime I flashed a working rom back on my Touch HD, put my SD card back into the Touch HD and switched to that phone again. Everything seemed to be working, until I took a look at the SD card (both through the phone and through "Disk Drive".
However, now the SD card is only listed as a 968MB SD card, with most of the original files gone, and the remaining file/directory names and contents broken.
Now I don't have access to a Micro SD card reader, so I cant access it directly. I was just curious as to whether somebody has an idea how to fix this SD card again, or whether my SD card is broken.
The data on the SD card don't matter - just wanna know whether I should just buy a new SD card
I have found a lot of hits on Google referring to SD card reporting wrong sizes, but those were mostly about reformatting, which is definitely not the issue.
Also examining the SD card with diskpart didn't yield any relevant information.
Is this SD card really broken?

SD Card Damage. Phone stuck on bootscreen

Connected my USB to my phone to do an update. Computer said there was aproblem reading my SD Card, so I unmounted and got a notification in the Notification bar stating SD Card Damage. When I clicked on it, it gave me only one option REFORMAT SD CARD....hit home went to setting, SD Card and it showed no space available, but there was still 52MB of Memory on the phone.
only option higlighted was Format SD Card. Tried plugging SD Card in my card reader and got same error. So I said screw it. I formatted the SD Card from the selection on the G1 and now when i reboot it stays stuck in the first boot screen. It won't do anything else.
I had JFv1.5 ADP A2SD on the phone.
Thinking I may have to buy a new SD Card and then a nandroid recovery.
Any other suggestions before I do that.

I had the same problem...
was sure i needed a new SD card, but i ended up downloading a sd formatting tool (i think it was from panasonics website)... and that got the card back working, no other attempts at low level formatting, re-formatting, any tries to delete partitions, nothing...
the only thing that finally worked was this SD card formatting tool...
you'll sadly probbaly need to reflash your phone, which i also had to do...
but, I did end up with the 1.5 update....

I have a samsung epic on android 2.1. I used to have the sd card damaged problem. I had to backup everyday for fear of losing information. I saw on one forum a note about upgrading to a Class 4 sd card. I went to frys and they only had class 10 in 16gb (about $40). I purchased and I have not had this problem since!!!
Problem: SD Card error
Problem Solved: Trash the Class 2 sd card that came with the phone and get class 4 or higher.
Woohoo!

[Q] External SD Card

I keep seeing references to internal SD card and External SD card, and just now I was using SDMaid and it lists Sdcard (8GB) and External SD card (empty). Is there a second slot for another SD card that I am unaware of.
I put the 8GB card that came with the phone in the slot next to the sim.
I have wondered this for a while and after searching, I decided to pose the question here to get clarification.

No, there is other slot. Some phones, like the Galaxy S and its variants, do have a soldered on internal SD and a slot for an external. The Desire HD(and therefore Inspire) do not. You can in theory partition your SD card and it is supposed to show up that way, but DO NOT DO THIS.
That's what I thought, but I had to check.

[Q] HTC Sensation z710a - Upgrading to new SD Card issues

I am having issues upgrading to a bigger SD Card.
I have been using the stock 8GB SD Card and now I am upgrading to 32GB SD Card.
I am using Total Commander on my PC to backup all of the files on my old SD Card to the PC and then transfer the files onto my new SD Card.
Problem is when I boot up off the new SD Card it wipes all of the data and I can't seem to get around it.
Any suggestions?
Anyone?
As soon as I put music, photos or videos on the card it is wiped when I boot up the SD card on the phone.
Actually I wonder if my phone doesn't support SDHC and that's why it is not working.

sd card unable to mount

Hi all,
I recently installed wicked v9.1 rom on my T-mobile Galaxy S3. Prior to that I was running Wicked v8 and everything was fine. I have a 64gb Sandisk sd card and it was working fine until this flash. I put the card in my pc and all my files are still on there and accessible so I backed them up on my PC. Then I formatted my sd card to exfat and tried mounting in the phone again, it gives me the same problem: It says preparing sd card/checking for errors, then it just says sd card is safe to remove. I tried going into settings to mount it but it does the same thing and doesn't offer a format option. I'm not sure what the problem is here since it works perfectly fine on my PC, I even ran a chkdsk /f on it and no errors were found. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I may not have the same device as you, but I've run into the exact same problem with two of my sd cards. My phone refused to recognize my sd card, even though Windows reported it as working fine. When I looked into the storage info, I was not able to format the card as well.
I tried the non-working memory cards in a few other Android devices with similar results - they were not being read. This led me to conclude that there was something wrong with the card, or more specifically, how Android handled the sd card.
On one of my cards (Generic Brand 1GB), a simple format with MiniTool Partition Wizard fixed the problem. On the other hand, a 16GB Patriot card refused to work after multiple formats (regular and deep). I t was still under warranty though and the replacement works fine.
As a last ditch effort, look and see if your SD manufacturer offers any special formatting utilities.
Hope this helped!

Are you talking about a removable micro sd card?
If you are - Copy everything you need / want to your pc and Format the micro sd card either in your phone or your computer - Insert it (if not already) into your phone - You should see a message saying something like "a new sd card has been detected". The sd card should be setup as Portable Storage.
