OTA stands for O.ver T.he A.ir and yes, it does have to do with software. Sometimes when you have a smartphone, like a Sensation there are updates to your phone which consists of installing software via the OTA.

theres a beta test program called HTC elevate which is a closed group of 300 or so people, they registered their phones and got the OTA update that way, so its not a leaked RUU, its a final beta rom update before the main public ota release but you can bet its gonna be pretty much like this for final release..

[Q] Official HTC Sensation ICS roll-out

So HTC have announced that the ICS update will be rolling out from today onwards... Those of you here who have rooted your phones and installed a custom ROM etc... will you be de-rooting and going for the official release or not?
I won't myself, just wanted to know what the general thoughs/feelings were.

I'm running ARHD so I'm using ICS already myself but for those of you who aren't.

Yes the same (Sensation .5 version).. In case HTC will decide to make some interim update before final spread it will be here and devs will be able to apply it into their roms .

Guys, it's not gonna go out to everyone at once as it'll drown the OTA servers. Have some patience!!
Also bear in mind that the Blog post by HTC mentions NO time frame other than 'end of March' so that doesn't mean today in my book

Can you post the build.prop please?

looking through the zip

Just patch file inside of file... Did not downloaded it to phone, just direct dowload to PC using link to fota server. There is new firmware.zip inside, several apps as such for Adobe Flash and patch to lot of system/app ... That's all I can see..

You cannot read what's inside the build.prop it is encrypted.

It seems to be update to 3.32.401.5_R taking it up to 3.33.401.6 as it says in file name. Guess this has come direct from HTC as it has '401' in the middle for unbranded hand sets?
Im currently running 3.32.401.5_R so wondering whether I can change to pg58img and flash it through recovery as im completely stock (other than s-off)

I'm completely stock and still have 3.32.401.5 why I can't see the update?

When an update goes out, not everybody gets it at the same time. If everyone woke up in the morning and all started updating at once it would be a heavy load on the network(s). Be patient and good things will come.

R and non R are exactly the same. R just means its ota.

Did you SuperCID before or have an unbranded phone? Not sure if that is necessary in this situation/with this package but seems better to be safe. If not I would wait until someone picks out the best parts of it and makes a flashable zip with more CIDs supported.

Then how come there are 2 different RUU's from Football, 3.32.401.5 and 3.32.401.5_R
By your theory only 3.32.401.5 would have RUU as the _R version would be OTA. Therefore me thinks you are wrong, I dont know what differences there are between 3.32.401.5 and 3.32.401.5_R but I suspect they are minimal

I don't want to wipe everything from my phone ... Why I didn't get the update? I'm completely stock but s-off

any idea how to flash it ?? in bootloader dos't work and not at 4ext. i extract everything out and try to change name of firmware name to PG58img.zip seperatly but that didn't work either. any one ????????

Hey mate. Im s-off and have Super-cid. Not bothered about custom roms anymore. Would like to apply the ota via bootloader if anyone can help?

If your looking for a changelog... dont, htc dont provide them.
The only thing we know about this - im guessing the update is for 3.33.x base - is that it fixes some pretty major bugs from tests

I guess they solved the 3.33 touchscreen issue.

yes, that exactly what i mean is that really worth updating, as I have rooted 3.32, so I have to unroot it, update to 3.33 and root again.

You shouldn't have to, if you flash the universal firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767&highlight=firmware

I`m not sure, as I bought one Sensation from three, but broke it and get this one from insurance. It came without any simlock or three boot animation. It looked just like a non-branded, and i don`t think they debrnded it.

There are no official 4.2 update for sensation and seems it will not get it at all. If you want fresh Android version you can consider to buy another phone nexus4 for example. Personaly I will never buy htc phone ever.

the update is out,my mom has the same phone and was able to download it thats how i figured out i was way behind,HTC wants me to send my phone in for a week so they can flash it and i don't want to be phone less for a week so is there any site or place i can download the update from?
or can i backup my moms phone on my computer and do it that way?

4.0.2 is ICS and has officially been available for some time.
If you are rooted,you can get a version of it in the dev section.

Android 4.0.3 is also out for Sensation. Get that

i mean if you want to flash an ICS 4.0.3 rom or ics firmware you have to be rooted first
and surely S-OFF for the ics firmware

Rooted is basically unlocking your phone and bypassing HTC security so that you can flash unofficial firmware and ROMs

Check in the Android Developing area for ROMs... IMO The 4.2 roms aren't running great as of yet...Still new technology for this phone...Give them some time. There is a great ROM I just came across today and tried that is OpenSensation - the latest 2.27.13 build. It looks just like the 4.2 roms (I've already flashed most of them) but it runs amazing on this phone. Its a 4.0.4 build and its simply fantastic. I would give it a try if I was you. Mind you, you will need to root your phone if you already haven't as well as get a recovery such as CWM (clock work manager).
