[Q] What RUU for HTC Wildfire?! - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys. I want to go ahead and start the process of rooting my HTC Wildfire, but the problem is, the current Revolutionary build supports only the 1.01.0001 HBOOT version. Mine is (you guessed it) 1.01.0002.
Luckily, HTCDev.com has finally launched their Bootloader unlock process that seems to be considerably easier than using GoldCard (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035).
Problem is, when I get down to the RUU download list on the first page of instructions, my carrier isn't there (I currently live in Malaysia and use Maxis). There is, however, an HTC WWE RUU at the bottom available for download.
A little help guys, cause I'm VERY new to this all and would REALLY love some help on what to do from the most badass Android community on the net.

[Q] How to go from branded to unbranded and beyond?

Hi!
First i want to say that i know that there must be other threads about this problem but my lack of knowledge in these matters has made it very difficult to actually know what to look for.
I have a htc Sensation, which is branded (for an operator called the three).
My goal is in the current situation to try to get the original version of the HTC Sense. The version you get on a non-branded version of HTC Sensation.
Later I am thinking about getting CM7, but that is not relevant here
When i started to look into how to proceed I found that I know very little about these things.
And so I turn to you for help.
My first question is: Can you use HTC's official method to unlock the bootloader on a branded phone? I have software number 1.45.771.4 (which is 2.3.4) but on HTC's website it says that you should have 1.45.401.2.
If not, what is the next best way to unlock the bootloader?
My second question is: Can you somehow get the original version of the HTC Sense? I do not mean a custom version of the original, but the actual original? Is there any relevant difference?
My third and final question is: How do I install the original version of the HTC Sense on my phone?
Hope I have explained well enough and that someone has the desire to help me with my small troubles

i uses this thread to debrand my vodafone device (it is rooted via revoltionary tools) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
Maybe i should clarify that i think it is kind of scary to use unofficial methods and i would like to find a way that are as "Safe" as possible.
I know that "Safe" may have little to do with the method being official or not but i would first like to explore the official ways before turning to the unofficial ones simply because i think that they are scary.
The ONLY way to debrand is:
1. S-OFF
2. Write the Super CID to your phone
3. Flash an unbranded ROM to your phone
This is easily done with the Revolutionary method, and is 100% reversible should you need to return the phone

[Q] Desire S crash during official OTA update

Hi
it is the second time that an official OTA ROM update of HTC crash during installation. Result : the phone is dead and has to be sent to service center
I would prefer install a new ROM on it. But how can I go for it knowing that my phone is not rooted yet and that I have no operational ROM... I can still go to the bootloader.
Small point, as a true Android fan, I am on linux or mac, no more windows pc at home
thanks a lot if anybody can give me a hand
complementary information :
HBOOT 2.00.0002
RADIO 3822.10.08.04_M
A simple way : unlock via HTCdev.
But be aware that htcdev method gets your phone info and that it is a single-way method. You have no chance locking the phone again so that htc will never see you unlocked your phone. They will definitely know it. So, practically, you will lose your warranty.
It can be done via fastboot. Follow instructions on the website www.htcdev.com

[Q] HtcDev error 190???

Hi guys, sorry if this has been answered before but i have spent over an hour looking for an answer with no luck.
Im trying to unlock bootloader (using HTCDev method) on a UK ChaCha running on Android 2.3.5 software number 1.57.61.2.
I have the correct RUU (orange UK) from the HTCdev site but get error 190 when trying to flash it. it tells me it wants to update to 1.57.0.0 but to do that i have to upgrade to 1.57.61.1.
Can some one please point me in the right direction here as i have tried a fix where flashing PG76IMG is supposed to work but im not given the update option in bootloader.
This will (hopefully) be the 3rd HTC i will have flashed custom roms etc (had an HD2 and just done my Sensation) but somehow this ChaCha is beating me at the moment. HELP!!!
Just skip that step. I had latest version installed and htcdev official didn't have ruu for unlocking that version (I had 1.54.401.3 but they only had ruu for 1.54.401.2 and since I didn't want to downgrade I just moved to the next step and unlocked bootloader without an issue).

[Q] Root for Chacha on Telus: RUU 1.24.661.2

I loved my ChaCha so much I bought a second Black version from Canada's mobile network Telus. Of course it must be tweeked to get the most benefit, so I went to HTCDev to unlock the bootloader. When I run the RUU it tells me that I don't have the latest version. The Telus RUU on HTCDev is 1.24.661.1, but I already have 1.24.661.2 installed. I am lost as to what to do next. I've looked through the forums to find a similar situation but am unlucky.
What I am trying to do is make it so I can get data using my AT&T SIM (voice works, but not data), and run Didije's Custom Stripped Rom.
I guess what I am asking is ...
1. Is there a way to roll my RUU version back?
2. Does anyone have the Telus WWE RUU version 1.24.661.1, executable (.exe)?
3. Is there a way to get root with my current setup.
4. Any workarounds come to mind?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I ended up finding a thread that explains how to work this. Simply put, just go to the next step. At the HTCDev site, you do not have to install the Updated RUU. Just scroll to the bottom and click, "Next Step."

Thank you! I reported this to HTC back in August, but they said just keep checking back. I didnt notice that there is now a notice on the RUU page saying "If your RUU is newer than the one listed below, skip this step and go to the next step"
Had given up hope for rooting this device - 4 apps and i am already getting "no memory" messages

SIM Unlock Easy Tutorial

This Guide is to SIM-Unlock your HTC Desire S.
It worked for me 2 times on vodafone locked devices.
Its very Simple just Download via HTC Dev Center the Android 4.0 WWE RUU and Install it.
You need a locked bootloader to Do This.
After then your phone should be automatically unlocked.
Let me Know if something went wrong.
Got excited when I saw this thinking CID changing had been achieved. Anyway,
This does debrand, but I'd hesitate before suggesting people flash HTCDev's 4.0.4 due to its bugs and how you can't temproot it after.
Yes i flashed this RUU onto my desire, it is buggy, i am going back to full root again, i can not find the original ROM for the desire for gingerbread for the life in me or i would re flash it and get rid of the bugs on ICS.
