New to the Captivate - Captivate General

Hey my fellow Captivaters! I picked up an AT&T Samsung Captivate a couple of days ago. I want to say thank you all for all of the help posted on these pages. I have been scouring the Nexus S 4G pages of XDA for a while now and thanks to you here in the Captivate forum I am running a gorgeous version of rooted, clockworkmodded Ice Cream Sandwich Thanks guys!

Welcome. Its only going to get better. Its still an alpha build

There will be no official CM6 for the Captivate...Once it is released for the Vibrant then someone will have to port it over to the Captivate...It's been stated many times that the developers for CM6 has no plans to develop for the Captivate...
no, it (at least for the Vibrant) is only in the preliminary stages - no release has been made
6.1 will have Galaxy S support.
So much for my twitter then...it came from Scepterr and TheGalaxyS :-(

I could be wrong but i think that release was for n1, droid, and some of the older android phones
Yeah I got that notification a few days ago but this one mentioned Captivate and Vibrate so I was thrilled then dissapointed.
Yeah no love for our Captivate....

I am asking the twitters about it but of course, no reply now...liars!
Hey guys, to shed a bit of light on the subject......it so happens my buddy is a huge n1 and cyan fan, so he and I were in the chat with some devs for the release. Sadly, the cm6 released does not support our captivates, just n1, Droid, hero and a few other models.
Now, I do know that one member of Team Douche has been assigned the captivate, but no idea when it could hit. Hope this is helpful.

Dude! I got a sidekick on the way to replace my vibrant, and was poking around this forum so I can prepare. So glad to see a familiar name, with a teamful of great creds. Had to go to stock for return..well, couldn't make it to Monday on stock. Running project v and am going to be missing it! What happened to virgin mobile?

Are there 4G Patches for Custom ROMs?

I installed Kwiboo's Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S 4G. It's absolutely wonderful, but there's*one issue — the phone's forgotten it has a wimax chip. 4G doesn't show up in Wireless settings, and installing a "4G switch" widget for the EVO doesn't work either.
Is there anything out there like a wimax stack or driver port for Sprint 4G phone custom roms that don't have it?
no source, no 4g, sorry. Possibly wrong forum as well q&a seems more appropriate.
Ice Cream Sandwich [NS4G] [AOSP]
We need the an official source for nexus s 4g. No 4g until Google release Ice cream sandwich for the NS4G.

Why does everyone think that because the current kernel is GB BASED that 4G should magicly work??? The kernel has been modded, AND we are using ICS framework. Obviously they have no idea how Android functions & how significant framework is. I have saw this question about 20 times now. Read guys, before filling threads with useless posts, questions & wild speculations.

[Q] CM7

CM7 would rock on this device but all kernels and builds are old. is anyone still working on cm7?
I haven't seen anything new with cm7 except cyanotouchwiz. Dayum shame
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Someone more knowledgeable than me will likely chime in, but my understanding is that work on CM7 has halted since CM9 will be coming soon (devs are waiting for source to drop).
i think anyone would love to get cm7 or aosp but we will probably never see an official build from the cyanogenmod team. I am hoping they churn out a cm9 for our skyrocket soon, but i know they are having some delays and it will be after it is released by samsung for our device. hopefully by then xboarder and some other devs will have a working ics build
The guy working on it got all pissy, didn't share his work and left... so there went cm7. Gonna be the same with x boarder i think. He isn't a team player so if a person pisses him off, it is bye bye time. If you even mention x boarder that thread gets closed... lol

Thanks SGS4G Community!

I have been hanging around the SGS4G XDA forums since I purchased this phone back in 2011, and everyone has been extremely helpful! I have since just upgraded to a Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889), so I am officially retiring my GS4G. I just wanted to thank all of you for making the experience with this phone nothing but enjoyable.
To all the developers, you guys are what makes Android powered devices the best available on the market. Thank you for everything you guys have done for this device!
Are you interested in selling your SGS4G?

Take it to PM then to Gmail. XDA frowns upon that sort of thing now.
Crackpot
Enjoy the new phone.
I'm glad you were around crackpot! You helped Team Acid and I a few times
