[Q] |plz HELP|ICS can't set VPN l2tp without IPSec - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have to use the l2tp vpn to connect the Internet in my school, it's quite easy in the age of GingerBread.
But things changed since I upgrade my Nexus S to IceCream Sandwich. There's no l2tp without IPsec option anymore.
I have tried the app "1 vpn", and it can't work either.
So I can't connect to the Internet via WiFi anymore in my school. It's terrible for me, 3G data is very very expensive here.
Is there any solution that dosen't need to downgrade to GingerBread?
Could anyone help me?

iOS officially doesn’t support “l2tp without IPSec” either, but there's a solution:
Creat a file named "options" in /etc/ppp, which writes:
Code:
plugin L2TP.ppp
l2tpnoipsec
iOS is derived from MAC OS, which is familiar with UNIX. Android is derived from Linux, which is also familiar with UNIX.
Android has the /etc/ppp folder too, I tried the iOS way but failed.
So, is there any possibilty to add ICS a l2tp VPN without IPSec in the familiar way as iOS?

I use OpenVPN instead, and it really works

Android IPsec (Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich)
With ICS, the VPN options have been revamped and the following choices are available:
L2TP/IPsec PSK
L2TP/IPsec RSA
IPsec Xauth PSK
IPsec Xauth RSA
IPsec Hybrid RSA
is not by me reported from here doc.pfsense.o r g
now is still working test and feedback for dev
regards

IPSec VPN

Has anyone looked at some type of IPSec VPN application? We use a Cisco VPN Concentrator that would make an awesome addition to this phone. I had the BlueFire VPN on my Windows Mobile phone which made connecting to routers/switches and servers on the go awesome.
Any ideas? I'm not a strong linux person, nor am i a programmer so unfortunatly i can' go an write my own
Cheers,
CapnDoody (Chris)

Has anbody ported the Cisco anyconnect client to android os?

I need an ssl vpn that will be compatible with my work's ASA firewalls, just curious if anybody has gotten anyconnect to work on Android or an open source ssl vpn client (I've never found one for Ubuntu yet).

get a robot vpnc
http://code.google.com/p/get-a-robot-vpnc/
tun.ko compiled on evo (may work for inc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6839625
this works for me on my evo using a cisco vpn concentrator and rsa token
All it does is crash on me. Anyone else have success?
our company only has a web-vpn enable. can "robot-vpn" successfully connect via web-based VPN ? If yes, please know how to do setting.
Right now, I can only use microsoft IE to go to login page and do loging and connect to company network.
I have install this ciscoxxx.apk, have tuk.o installed, and rooted. I try "robot-vpn" many time and try to do login and all failed.
Ryo.
vpn evo
Iceman... can you walk me through the settings for a cisco pix 501 from an evo...installed on rooted evo but app crashes upon connect attempt
Sorry!
The application VPN Connections (process org .codeandroid. vpnc_frontend) has stopped unexpectedly.
Please try again.
VPN_Connections Works for Me
hxxp://code.google.com/p/get-a-robot-vpnc/downloads/detail?name=VPN_Connections_v099.apk&can=3&q=
I got this to work (IPSec to AnyConnect running on ASA5500 series)... Change the xx in the hxxp to the appropriate characters and enjoy! You must have the TUN in your ROMs kernel, BTW.
Good Luck!

Yes, that post requesting this was over a year ago.
Cisco sent it to me directly once it was in beta

Thank you for this, I had no idea that this was available.
Do you know how to get that Cisco apk file besides going through the android market place? After much debugging that site still doesn't work for me and I'm going through the hoops for their tech support right now...
finally found it on the net, now getting the dreaded
"could not obtain the necessary permissions to run this application. this device does not support anyconnect"
This is like the early days of java. we're going backwards I tells ya!
Hi,
Actually I use Cisco anyconnect client for rooted android device.
To configure the VPN ssl server on the cisco device you could use the CLI or if you are a beginner, try the CPP cisco software (you need the CCO account).

[Q] Is there anything for Android that supports IPSec with XAUTH?

Just straight IPSec with XAUTH. No L2TP. The built in VPN client is *really* dumbed down and very inflexible. No company is going to change the way their VPN is configured just to suit a few android users.
It would be nice to have something that would allow me to create my own Phase 1 and Phase 2 proposals, use XAUTH only, certs, etc... and also be able to configure multiple concurrent tunnels.

Apart from WPS WPA tester the most effective wi-fi hacking app is WPS Connect.
It is one of the best of its kinds. It will help you to disable the internet connection of other users.
You can also use the Aircrack-ng, Zanti or WiFi PAssword app.
