I'm just wondering if the SGS4G is the same as the Telus Galaxy S Fascinate 4G? I have one, and the model is SGS-959P. I had the 3G version, and had a custom rom on it, and loved it, just trying to figure out which roms I can use on this one..
Thanks

They are not the same phone. Don't flash any of these Roms onto your phone.

I know, i was just saying the specs are similar, its GSM, front facing cam, 4g, same bands, everything lol I was just saying why would samsung name it Fascinate when they already had a CDMA fascinate with Verizon. And why not give Telus the SGS4G better.

I currently own a captivate but now that I have two I am planning on selling and buying a Nexus S.
My question is Im assuming I will not be able to use 3G, however with a custom ROM would I be able to get "H" network or will I only be able to use EDGE?
Thanks in advance

Edge only. T-Mobile and ATT use different network bands. Otherwise I'd own a nexus s as well.

The answer is no. The physical support is not there - it's not an issue of flashing the appropriate radio.
An AT&T version has been seen in FCC fillings as well as referenced in commits in the git repo - it will be available soon enough. If you get the current version for AWS you're stuck on edge.

Well, you can't. Read the stickies in a forum before posting. Your question was answered there and it would've saved you time in finding your answer. This question gets asked a lot, in spite of the fact it's a stickied FAQ thread.
Also, earch the Nexus S forums for a more thorough answer why, this question has been asked quite a few times. Learning how to use the Search will save you a lot of time in finding your answers and prevent clutter & duplicate questions.
Learning how to read stickies & FAQs will help you (and us) tremendously.

You can't do this for the simple fact that "H" is based off of 3G. The 2 companies use different frequencies for 3G and as such, different hardware is required within the phone. Simply put, no 3g, no H no matter what ROM you flash.
the ATT version is coming soon, probably within the next few weeks. it already went thru FCC testing.

its not a matter of it being unlocked, you can purchase them unlocked from alot of places. its a matter of NONE of them being able to utilize tmobiles 3g/4g AWS bands. They will only work on edge as far as data goes.

People seem to keep forgetting that ICS is getting ported to all these 3G phones. It hasn't been ported to ANY 4G device that I know of.
We still need the RIL, thats what is holding us back from everything haha. CM7, CM9, ICS. We need that ril before we can move on.

well I don't know the internal workings of android too well but afaik the RIL code is not included in the source the OEMs post and they are not obligated to release it so it has to be leaked or hacked up to work

True. However google DOES include RIL w/ the source code. SO hopefully when the LTE source code is released, it can be tweaked to work for the charge.
Not sayin' it will, just that its not all gloom and doom.

Our best shot is the VZW Galaxy Nexus source. Since its a Samsung made phone, it's possible the RIL is similar to the Charge.
I know you all hate to hear this, but it's coming December 8...only a week and a half and hopefully we will be further along with the RIL. Patience, Daniel-San, patience...

The devs shouldn't be focusing, in my opinion, on this until we have the RIL. Why did anyone buy this phone if they didn't want 4G more than anything else?? Features are nothing without function.
what you guys keep forgetting is that it doesn't matter if another LTE phone gets a port until it's one with the same chipset as our phone. No one has done the RIL for our chipset.
Can we flash this on our skyrocket (I would highly doubt it, but wanted to checked)?

The tmobile galaxy and the skyrocket have the same modems buddy. Our tmo phones can (theoretically) access LTE bands with the right modem/sim combo. So in reality, our phones are identical, just tmo phones have a software lock.

Be able to do what?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Flash back to stock if brick. Flash CM7, MIUI, etc... just like Infuse 4g?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I came from an Infuse and felt fairly at home on the Skyrocket.
My impression from reading forums is that more people have screwed up this phone than the Infuse because there are so many phones with the Galaxy S II name and people try to mix and match ROMs. Just be careful of that and you should be fine.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Its because people do not read. Obviously there different devices. And common sense says dont flash anything from a different device. Mabye it will break mine. Or mabye i should read and find out if you can on certain devices. But nope nope nope. People dont read and apparantly have very little common sense. So they just flash wrong roms/kernels. Then complain about how its a developers fault or odins fault there brickd.
So bottom line is. Always know what your flashing before attempting to flash anything. Even themes
Yes I noticed people screwed up. Wrong roms. Good thing it can be fixed by return to stock.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Actually alot of times ot can not be fixed
I have a question..?? Can the skyrocket be unlock for any GSM Carrier just like the Samsung Infuse by using either an app or editor?
