is it possible to get this to work with Google navigation?
I don't think it's possible, however, if you're looking for different voices for Google Navigation, you could check out something like IVONA Text-to-Speech for Android (Google it, I can't post links yet) or you could look for other TTS solutions for Android.

Looking for a great text to speech app with natural voices. The "Talk To Me" App in the market is missing the SVOX Classic TTS Engine plugin. The better sounding natural voices "to buy" are no longer in the market. Any ideas for a language translation tool that sounds better than Pico TTS? Anyone have the SVOX TTS Engine APK?

Nexus 1, Unlocked Bootloader, Froyo 2.2, Rooted.

Please have a look at SVOX Mobile Voices' blog. There are no voices for Froyo yet as they're waiting for release approval by Google.

Try Loquendo. It's in the Market. $4.99 Though. Only one voice right now, but it sounds great. More voices to come according to the website.

If you're running Froyo, you won't find it in the market, as miki4242 said.
Try Loquendo, I use it. Its pricey but thats, afaik, the only option on Froyo.
This is what I have. I need the mandarin TTS. Any ideas where I can buy it? I am unable to download from google's android market. I assume it is because China is blocked by Google.

You mean Google is blocked by China. It's your country that is blocking you, not the other way around. Communism at it's best
I am not here for stupid slinging. So go away. FYI search google and you will find China is NOT supported by Google's market.
And BTW China is NOT my country, I just live here.
Hello all!
I'm trying to get the old google voice search to work on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (n9005). Here's a link to the app in question.
Edit: I'm apparently not allowed to post links since I'm a relatively new member. If you search for "Voice Search" on Google Play, you'll see it.
I dislike the new google voice search and I'd prefer to revert to this. Sadly, even though I did manage to successfully install the app after rooting and removing the newer version, I can't get the voice commands to work. I've done a number of google searches on the subject and I can't find anything helpful. I already have the language set to US English.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks

you were asking for an api key, so i found the google api site.
not sure if that helps or not, but its all i could do without knowing anything about building apps, is what i was getting at.
Yah with that site it will as you to register the package file
So there is no other way? I mean I'm using an editor program so officially using someone else's game package that I have to post to Google dev console isn't going to be the place I wanna go
What's the best and more popular assistant for S7?
In my device I find S-Voice but it seems an old assistant.. Google Now maybe the most integrated with other apps and features... but what the new ones like Bixby and Google Assistant?
Does anyone use Google Now?
I don't use any assistant, in fact I've disabled all the info collecting settings for Google to the point the assistant won't work unless I turn them all back on again
Cortana from Microsoft is available on the play store too / apk install but as with Android, I kill that thing on Windows too, assistants are dumb and it's generally faster and more accurate to do everything manually anyway, and doesn't collect your data in the process
It's your choice, while I *need* an assistant driving my car to call, create reminders, send WhatsApp messages, SMS, etc
I'd like to perform only a few simple (hands-free) actions, you can easily do with Siri (iOS).
Google Now seems so poor.. so many times it doesn't understand what I say and put my request to google (web)... so frustating.. You too?
Yea, I've never found any voice recognition / assistant that can understand what I'm saying well enough for it to be any use, spend more time correcting and typing in the correct words than I would if I just did it myself in the first place
Siri is what you're looking for
Anyway Google Assistant (born inside Google Allo) should become the new modern virtual assistant improving the current Google Now. Unfortunately it's not available in Italian... have you tried it in English? (at first look it seems faster and more clever than Now)
I've an oddly specific question: if you search for a location, say a 7-eleven, using the Bing app or Bing in the browser, and you hit the directions button - what navigation app opens, Here WeGo?
Ive just tested it out, So it gives you a web based version of google maps, However you can always do the search in here we go for the 7 eleven, Or you can use google maps but the functions dont all work, Im actually loving here we go, Its clean and super easy to use!

Thanks for testing that out for me. I figured it'd open a web version of Google Maps because that's what happens on other Androids.
I like HERE WeGo too. I'm looking into using Tasker to open Google Maps links in HERE WeGo. But Tasker is kinda complicated for newbies.

^ this app opens Google Map links in HERE. Not the nicest implementation, but it works.

Yep, it does. But you've got to build the task. And Tasker is hard for newbies.
Send to Navigation pretty much does the same thing.
