[Q] Synching contacts across different accounts - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can somebody pls advise, whether there is a possibility to sync contacts on both WP7 device and cloud across all accounts from which you are pulling your contacts/email?
The idea is that I have 3 accounts - Gmail, Live and Exchange, and I want contacts to be sync'd to all of them, instead of having different sets of contacts on each account.
The reason is that when I go on a terminal that isn't my phone, I don't want to be missing contacts or contact updates.

This is not supported currently.
As an alternative solution: You must import all your contacts from different accounts and consolidate them on your Live ID associated with the device. In order to separate them from each other you can use "Groups" feature. Now you can access all your contacts via the Live ID.

Syncing gmail contacts

Before I got my WinMo phone I had all my email accounts in outlook, along with my contacts and calendar. I consolidated all of my email accounts into my gmail account. Imported all of my contacts and calendar entries.
I downloaded my emails to my phone through an IMAP connection, I sync my calendar entries between the phone and gmail. Is there a way I can sync my contacts from my phone to gmail without going through outlook on my computer?
I want to eliminate the middle man (my computer) in all the syncing so all of my stuff is available through my phone or gmail so that way if i'm at a friends and don't have my phone or computer I can still access information if need be.
With the contacts, in case its not clear enough, I synced all my contacts from outlook to my phone when I got it. I then imported all of my contacts from outlook into gmail. Now I get a call on my phone and then add that number as a new contact. How do I sync that new number into gmail without going through outlook?
http://www.google.dk/search?source=...ontacts+pocketpc&btnG=Google-søgning&meta=lr=
tried looking here?
I was searching syncing gmail contacts windows mobile instead of pocketpc and gsync wasn't coming up on my search. Ill have to give it a try later. OGG Sync says it does contacts but the only thing I can find on it is calendar.
Thanks for the help
Gsync doesn't sync contacts from the phone to google. Somebody has to be doing this?
Try nuevasync.com
plexo.com + rememberthemilk.com + mesh.com = complete outlook replacement
Is paid service ($50/yr) but is by far the best I've ever used. Will sync your contacts and calendar with device/outlook/google/yahoo etc. I also use rememberthemilk to sync taks online, and Live Mesh for files and photos. Using Linux as a main OS forces you to find all the best-of-breed non-MS solutions, it's entirely possible to ditch outlook and still have 100% functionality replaced with online cloud services.

[Q] Annoying things (alternatives/help?)

Recently purchased the Samsung Omnia 7, while I know this is still is a up and coming OS I was hoping someone could help me to make do of it for the time being…
My main issue; is the People hubs, it seems to add all my email accounts and inorder for me to get to a certain phone number I have to go through endless email address.
Is there anyway I can change settings so the People hub just displays phonebook contacts and not email address?
If no is there any applications as a simple phone book?
Other small issue, the screensaver can I disable the time and date? So it just displays the wall paper?
Many thanks in advance
1. nope. it will pull all your contacts for every account you add. i know what you mean as well in terms of that. the reason that there aren't any apps either is because there is no PIM API to access your contacts. so without this, there isn't yet an alternative to that. you can however quick jump the list by tapping on the accent colour square seperating each list group (looks like a [#] or [a] or ). and then quick jump to where you want. or you can hit the search button whilst on people hub to do a quick search.
2. again nope. this is how it is for all windows phones at present and i don't think it's going to change (add customisations) any time soon, unless we truly get a full jailbreak (dev unlocking is only thing rocking at the moment).
you can't disable contacts syncing from the primary live account. but you can for secondary ones. What i did was basically create a seperate wp7 live account and uploaded only the contacts that I wanted. Entered it as the primary account, which syncs all the contacts. I then disable email for the primary account.
Enter my proper hotmail account. Disable the contacts, calendar sync and enable only the emails. Rename it from Hotmail 2 to Hotmail.
That should get the job done.

Froyo - Syncing New Contacts

Using Android 2.1, when entering a new contact on the phone, we had three storage options - phone, gMail, and SD card. Now, with 2.2, these options appear to be gone. New contacts entered on the phone are stored to the phone but don't auto-sync to gMail. New contacts entered into gMail on the PC auto-sync to the phone, as normal.
Bug or cockpit error? Thanks.
Phone contact and gmail contact are two separate contact groups. They never sync with each other.
In 2.2, you can pre-set where the new contact should be created, phone, sim card, gmail or any exchange mail accounts you setup so that you don't have to chose this every time you create a new contact. If you want your new contact sync to gmail, make sure you chose gmail as your default contact location.

[Q] Transfer contacts between phone and PC without activesync

My work has turned off the USB ports on our computers. Therefore, I can no longer sync my phone via activesync with Outlook. I've been looking and cannot find a simple way of exporting my contacts and calendar to something that I can then sync my phone to, while preserving all of the data included.
Can someone recommend something that will do this while preserving contact pictures and calendar categories, etc?
FYI, I'm using WinMo 6.5
Thanks.
Upload them online to either Windows Live account or Gmail account.
Gmail preferred. It will store your contacts, calendar, etc.
Otherwise try PIMBackup
I should have stated, that I need to get the contacts and calendar off of my work PC. I know about google sync for calendars, but there isn't something similar for contacts.
The only methods that I have found do not save categories or contact pictures. I'd like to find something that equals what activesync can do when it transfers new info to my phone.

Multiple gmail account contacts sync

Hello.
I have 2 gmail acounts. Private and business.
I want to sync my phone with both, but to keep contacts assigned to separate accounts.
I want also when create new entry to choose to which account contact will be assigned.
Is that possible?
Mike
With multiple accounts, it should ask you which account you want to create it under. What software are you running currently? Do you have Sense or no?
